Ayo GG! Oops, I got confused, returning to the topic, we are here with chapter 7. Ready? ^o^
Notice: Counting the next three chapters there will be several flashbacks from two years ago, this time, I named them by acts.
Synopsis: Steven will spend the day with the uncorrupted gems, together they will relive memories of the past.
Chapter 7 - In The New World
It was a dark night, there was no one, neither human, nor gem, nor some organic life, there was only Steven, watching the calm sea on the beach, he enjoyed the breeze that the beach provided, until unexpectedly his skin turned pink, his eyes turned black with pink pupils, he felt giant spikes coming out of his back, his body changed, he became bigger, it was an indescribable pain that left him unconscious.
When he woke up he didn't do it on the beach, he was in a kind of emptiness, everything was black, there was nothing and nobody.
"What happened? Where I am?" Steven's voice echoed.
"Steven," a deep voice was heard, as if the emptiness spoke to him. "Steven!"
"What?... Who are you?"
"Steven, realize it! Everyone left you behind, you are useless."
"Enough!" Steven had tears in his eyes and he was covering his head with his hands. "Stop telling those lies!"
Soon after, Steven woke up from his nightmare.
"That was horrible," Steven, still scared by his nightmare, saw the time on his cell phone, it was four in the morning. "Well, I won't dream that again," after encouraging himself, he went back to sleep.
Hours passed, Steven woke up on his own, fatigue from having woken up unexpectedly hours ago prevented him from hearing the alarm on his cell phone.
Steven was surprised to see the time, it was ten in the morning. "It's late!" Still in his pajamas, he almost ran down to the first floor, unaware that the television was broadcasting his nightmare of the early morning.
"Not so fast Steven," Garnet grabbed his arm, just before he could enter the bathroom.
"You can't start the day without breakfast," Amethyst ate a chocolate bar while Garnet led Steven by the arm straight to the table.
"But I have to do my skincare routine, plus... you know, I need to use the bathroom."
"Your diet is more important," Pearl brought a tray of food to the table. "It's a vegan breakfast, just the way you like it."
"The three of us made it," Garnet added.
Steven was grateful to his gem family. "Thanks guys, and don't worry, as soon as I finish breakfast I'll help you repair the wall."
"Oh yeah, about that," Amethyst said until she was interrupted by the light of the Warp Pad.
"We brought everything," Bismuth was carrying some boards.
"We can start," Lapis had a pair of hammers on hand.
"Cool! I'll be with you in a few minutes," Steven said as he ate breakfast.
"Wait a minute Steven, your work today is to rest while we repair your house," Peridot was holding a clipboard, in it she read Steven's work.
"What? But, I thought we'd repair the wall together," Steven was a little disappointed.
"Repairing your house for the third time doesn't compare to when you started Era 3 Steven," Bismuth knocked down the false wall of the house with a push. "You need to relax a bit."
"Yes, a little fresh air from Earth would do you good," Lapis carried some boards to the area to be repaired.
"A dip would do you good too," Peridot added, the previous two gems nodding.
"Whaddya mean?" Steven sensed that they were planning something.
"That maybe you should relax in... the fountain," Pearl had mixed feelings when she said the last, but she got over it quickly when she saw her weather application. "You can stay until night, today it will be sunny all day."
"Yeah, the perfect weather to go swimming in Steven's fountain," Amethyst added cheerfully.
"I can't go alone," Steven replied.
"You'll be fine Steven," Garnet took off her visors slightly, revealing her three eyes. "I know."
After finishing breakfast Steven decided to follow the advice of the gems, he put on his swimsuit and using the Warp Pad he went to the place where the now called Steven's Fountain —Formerly known as Rose's Fountain— is.
While he warps, Steven remembered his nightmare last night, especially the part in which the deep and mysterious voice called him useless, he related this to what happened while he had breakfast.
"No, that's not true, they want the best for me," Steven tried to cheer himself up, but he couldn't help feeling a little bad. When he arrived, he added. "Why do I need to be needed?!" Steven took a deep breath after saying it. "Okay, it takes time to recover, I'll be able to talk about it with my therapist in the next session."
The former Rose's Fountain has changed a bit in these years, the giant statue was no longer Rose's, in its place was a statue of Steven shedding healing tears, the small statues were also replaced by Steven's, later we will see why the change.
Steven was approaching the Fountain, as he supposed there was no one, or so it seems, he jumped into the water with his eyes closed, he opened them when he came to the surface.
All the uncorrupted gems —It is worth mentioning that they are all in their usual clothes— that live on Little Homeworld surfaced. "SURPRISE!" They exclaimed happily at the same time.
Steven screamed in shock, but he took it in a good way. "Gee, you really scared me guys."
"I told you I'd make you scream one day Steven," Larimar said happily as she hit the water.
"You should see your face, you were so pale," Lace A. added, happy that the surprise turned out.
Steven laughed, actually it was a pleasant surprise. "I can imagine it. Well, what are you all doing here?"
"We thought you'd come here, and we wanted to keep you company," Ocean tried to pretend they were there by chance.
"Actually, what happens is—" Zebra couldn't finish saying the phrase because of her nerves.
"We're sorry Steven, for what happened days ago," Buns had her head bowed, if she were standing she would have knelt.
"You gave us all a second chance, and we couldn't thank you properly," Blue Lace mentioned in a lamenting tone.
"When we realized that you were the—" Crazy Lace paused, she didn't want to say the Kaiju Monster. "The being from days ago we felt bad for not being able to help you."
"I don't know if it's corruption or not, but you went through something similar happened to us, although we don't remember almost anything," Aura added, noting that Steven didn't have any corruption scars.
"We wanted to apologize, so we convinced the—" H. Beetle paused briefly. "Teachers, to talk to you."
"It wasn't easy to convince them, they told us you'd rather stay away from gem stuff for a while," the E. Beetle mentioned.
"But we thought that doesn't exactly involve us gems, does it?" Spodumene added with some doubt.
"No, I have no problem with any of you or with any gem," Steven corrected himself, the uncorrupted gems took their time to accompany him, at least he had to be honest with them, because they lived for millennia what he just lived a few days ago. "Well, maybe with some."
"The Diamonds?" Pigtails asked, trying to guess, Steven nodded. "We understand you, it took us several weeks to forgive them for corrupting us."
"At least you guys could do it, I honestly can't yet," Steven understands why it only took weeks for the uncorrupted gems, because unlike him, they have no direct link to Pink Diamond.
"We're almost the same, you know? For now I only forgave Blue Diamond," Cherry mentioned, for her those several weeks haven't yet passed.
"If I'm honest, sometimes it bothers me to remember them," Bixbite added, in her case sometimes her pincer caused her problems.
"I wouldn't even greet them if I saw them in person," added Tourmaline with a half-angry expression.
"I wouldn't either, it was the fault of one of them that we had to fight each other for centuries," Snowflake mentioned, avoiding saying Pink Diamond's name.
"And it was the fault of the others that we were all unfairly punished," Ponytail added, her arms crossed.
"Yeah, they were very bad with all of you, but let's not think about it anymore," Steven showed his characteristic optimism. "Since we are here, we can remember the good times."
"Like the time you convinced the Diamonds to heal us all?" Biggs asked enthusiastically.
Steven raised his right thumb up. "Perfect!"
Flashback Act One: Euphoria
Finally the big day arrived, Steven, the kid who believed that his powers come from ice cream, managed to convince the Diamonds to come to Earth and heal all the gems that they corrupted, at least the ones that were present. It was decided that they would heal them at Rose's Fountain, so one day after returning to Earth, the Crystal Gems took all the bubbles that contained the corrupted gems, including Jasper, to the Fountain, and of course, they also took Centi and company.
Everything was ready, Steven and the Diamonds were already inside the Fountain. Combining the power of the four, the water acquired the properties to heal each corrupted gem that is inside, one by one they were regenerating, but no longer as monsters, but as they used to be, rather as they almost used to be, because almost all the gems showed some vestiges that were left by corruption, and we say almost all of them because when Centi became Nephrite again, for some reason she looked without any vestige, as if she had never been corrupted, who knows, maybe Steven's healing spit did side effects on her.
Something is certain, despite having corruption scars, all the gems were filled with euphoria, except for Jasper who at most became, let's say, shy, after seeing the Diamonds. Although the recently uncorrupted gems didn't exactly recall the darkness and gloom they lived through for millennia, they did feel wonderful when they were healed, at the moment it didn't matter whether they were Crystal Gems or loyal to Homeworld, this was a happy moment for everyone.
As the minutes passed, some were reunited with theirs.
"You didn't change anything Little Larimar," Snowflake said.
"Neither you my friend," Larimar replied.
Others were curious.
"Aren't you Jasper? I thought you had managed to escape," Bixbite told Jasper, she was still submerged in the water.
"It will take a while for her to get used to," Amethyst replied, still a bit amused that Jasper dipped into the water after calling her sis.
And some were reconnecting.
"It wasn't easy to convince White Diamond, but hopefully we made her change her mind," Steven paused a little. "I'm sorry you had to wait so long."
"It wasn't that long, except for you, I don't remember almost anything," Nephrite replied, causing Steven to give a relieved smile.
At some point, while the Diamonds were talking to each other, White Diamond took a look at where Steven was, he knew it immediately because Nephrite screamed a little from the fright when she saw her, so he turned around, the only thing the Diamond did was show a smile.
"But what? How?" What just happened left Nephrite confused, to the point of realizing that the three Diamonds were happy talking and laughing among themselves. "When you spoke with them, were they also like that?" She whispered to Steven.
"Not at all," Steven remembered everything he had to go through, then smiled. "But now everything will be different, everything will be better, we are in a new world."
End of Flashback
"So that's how the great bubble bath was," said Cherry, a little surprised.
"It was the best while it lasted," Aura mentioned, her expression changed to a more serious one along with some gems. "What follows isn't very pretty."
"Hey, are you sure you want to remember that?" Steven knows what's next.
"Are you sure?" Ocean asked him.
"We won't force you if you're not," added Tourmaline.
"Well, that was difficult for everyone, if someone here feels bad we'll stop," Steven wanted to overcome the memories of his mother, Pink Diamond or Rose Quartz, just like the others did or are doing.
"Sure?" They all asked in unison, except Cherry for obvious reasons.
Steven showed a determined smile. "Very sure."
Flashback Act Two: The Truth
Steven spoke it with the Diamonds before starting with the massive de-corruption, there could be no more secrets, they had to tell all the gems the truth, and since some are loyal to Homeworld it was necessary for the Diamonds to be there.
A few minutes passed after the gems came out of the water, now everyone was on the beach, near the Temple and the remains of the house, it's worth mentioning that now the uncorrupted gems are divided into groups, the euphoria they felt at the beginning is over.
"We know that you all had differences in the past, but it's time to put it in the past!" Steven was using a megaphone. "After hearing this, you'll have to support each other!"
"Wow dude, you made a good introduction," Amethyst said happily.
"Yes, you surprised them," Pearl added, also happy for Steven.
"It was you who healed them Steven, your words will have a lot of effect on them," Garnet anticipated the facts a little with her future vision.
It was time for the Diamonds to speak.
"Pink Diamond and the leader of The Rebellion, Rose Quartz, are the same gem," White Diamond said directly, not caring much about how the gems would react.
Upon hearing the revelation, the gems reacted in different ways depending on their side.
"Yeah right, now it turns out that the Diamonds are Crystal Gems now," Crazy Lace said while laughing with the other Crystal Gems.
"We know Rose can be mysterious, but that," Biggs tried to stop laughing, but couldn't help it. "It's the dumbest thing I've ever heard!"
"Oh yeah, tell me about it," Peridot was still surprised by the revelation, although Bismuth had already told her and Lapis shortly after regenerate.
"What? I don't understand," said a member of Nephrite's crew, although no one heard her because of the Crystal Gems' laughter.
"Silence!" Jasper wanted to continue listening more and she knew she couldn't if the others laughed.
Steven intervened with his megaphone. "It's true, they are the same person!" The uncorrupted Crystal Gems were as surprised as their adversaries upon hearing him.
"Pink faked her destruction to live on Earth as Rose Quartz," Yellow Diamond complemented with a serious tonality.
"She was so unhappy at home, she started a war against us because we never listened to her," Blue Diamond still felt sad for Pink.
A few seconds of silence passed until the gems began to react.
"That's why I could never beat Rose, she is... my Diamond," Jasper said in a low voice, she didn't care much about Pink Diamond's attitudes and decisions, she was her Diamond after all, she couldn't question her even if she didn't agree, but she did think. "But why is she now limited to fusion?"
"So we've all fought Pink Diamond?" Lace A. commented, confused and shocked.
"Was it Pink Diamond who decided to protect this planet?" Zebra asked quite surprised.
"Is it because of Pink Diamond that we now have this?" Blue Lace added, pointing to her new horns.
"And why did she involve us in all this?" Spodumene added, a little disappointed.
"I can't believe that I say this but I'm ashamed to be of her court," said a nephrite crew member covering her face.
"She's supposed to be a Diamond. How could she be so inconsiderate?" Another nephrite complained, until she saw her captain making a fist and looking down. "Captain, are you okay?" She just nodded.
"I don't think I can ever see Rose or Pink Diamond in the face again," Larimar commented angrily, something unusual for her.
"By the way, where is she? She should at least show her face," said the H. Beetle.
"You're looking at her," Jasper pointed at Steven as she said that.
"Shut up!" Nephrite reacted fiercely.
Steven spoke into the megaphone. "There's something else you need to know!" All the gems listened carefully again.
"I hope they don't take it badly, it may be hard to accept," Lapis remembered her reaction, for her it was more of a "Steven has Pink Diamond's gem" than a "Pink Diamond sacrificed herself for Steven to exist."
"I'm sure they'll understand," Bismuth tried to cheer her up.
"Rose gave up her physical form to create a new life with my dad!" Steven paused. "That new life... is me!"
"WHAT?!" Jasper and Nephrite yelled in unison, the others just being quite surprised.
"Pink is gone... forever," White Diamond said, hoping not to have to prove it in front of everyone.
"We still have a hard time believing it, but it's true," Yellow Diamond added, and it was true, it's not easy to accept.
"Steven is the closest thing that was left of Pink... but he's not her," added Blue Diamond, mourning the loss of her sister.
"Well, that's better, I prefer the Steven over Pink Diamond or Rose," commented the E. Beetle.
"I think the same, at least the Steven did care about us," added the former water bear gem.
As if nothing, most of the uncorrupted gems approached their hero Steven, they had several questions to ask him, but with some this wasn't the case.
"What a disappointment," Jasper said angrily, stood up and approached the Diamonds. "My Diamonds, let me return with you to Homeworld."
Still in shock, Nephrite also approached them. "My team and me too, if you don't mind."
"You two will stay here, just like the others," White Diamond replied, surprising both lower-class gems according to her.
"But, I was always loyal to you and our planet, I follow every rule, I fulfill my missions," Jasper gave them her reasons, although deep down she knows that legally she shouldn't return. "And I know Homeworld more than they do who don't even know we're in Era 2!"
"We're in Era 3 now, and we'd rather start with gems that look more... adequate," Blue Diamond tried to sound a little more delicate.
"I do look adequate, and I'll do my best to make my team look the same too, I promise," Nephrite also gave them her reasons, although she's not sure if she'll be able to deliver on what she promises.
"A ruined gem will always be a ruined gem, don't give yourself false hopes," Yellow Diamond replied and went along with the other Diamonds to their ships.
Steven asked the crowd of gems for a moment after seeing what happened, he approached the two uncorrupted gems shortly after the Diamonds boarded their ships, they just boarded, they haven't left Earth yet.
"Um, guys?" Steven called to them, he was behind them.
Jasper pushed him, she was still angry. "Get away from me," she was leaving, she didn't know where, but she couldn't because the Crystal Gems, except Lapis and Peridot, cornered her and, to her annoyance, they entrusted her to the uncorrupted Crystal Gems.
Steven noticed that Nephrite had a blank look. "Centi?" He called her by her corruption nickname.
"That's true? Pink Diamond and Rose Quartz are... are...?" Nephrite tried to ask, Steven nodded knowing what she meant. "My Diamond is... Rose Quartz's gem is the same as... you have the... gem...?" She asked, with her voice broken from the shock, when she saw Steven's gem after coming out of the Fountain, he just told her it's a long story.
"Try to stay calm, I know this is complicated, but..." Steven tried to reassure her.
Nephrite knelt at Steven's height, grabbed him by the shoulders. "Say it's not true! Say my Diamond isn't Rose Quartz! Say you have nothing to do with her! Say you're only human!" She squeezed him tighter. "SAY IT AND I'LL BELIEVE IT!" In a second she lost stability and fell unconscious.
"Centi!" Steven called his friend passed out.
Abrupt End of Flashback
"STOP!" Bixbite yelled as loud as she could. "You looked scared."
"Yeah, remembering Nephrite's reaction was a bit scary," Steven looked calmer as he stopped remembering.
"But how did you feel about all that?" Pigtails asked, feeling that Steven should think more of himself.
"Facing the Diamonds and also having a bond with one of them, I can't imagine it," Ponytail added with some concern.
"Well, I just avoid thinking about it, it causes me emotional stress," Steven mentioned his habit.
"It's good advice, until you come to believe that no one understands you," Buns seemed to read Steven's mind when he mentioned the last thing. "I can't believe we're talking to you about that just now."
"It's true, we should have cared more about you," Snowflake added after doing a facepalm. "If we had done it before, you wouldn't have had to go through... you know what."
"Hey, don't feel bad about it," it was Steven's way of saying: "Don't blame yourself, you couldn't have done much anyway." "Also, you have been busy with the remodeling of my house, the construction of Little Homeworld and with the school, there was never an opportunity to talk as we are doing now."
Flashback Act Three: Little Homeworld
Twenty days have passed since the massive de-corruption of gems, and today the repair and remodeling of Steven's house finally finished, thanks to many of the gems that helped in the work.
"It's amazing Steven, your house looks spacious, the structure is perfect, the interior design is beautiful," Connie was impressed, her eyes are star-shaped.
"Yeah, dad and the gems went to great lengths to remodel everything," Steven landed softly on his bed. "My favorite is the bedroom."
Both preteens went down to the main room.
"Thanks for remodeling the house guys. I loved everything!" Steven said very happily to his dad and his gem family and gem friends.
"We're glad you like Schtu-ball," Greg hugged his son with one arm. "Although that means goodbye to father-son nights."
"And goodbye to Saturday camps," Peridot added, a little disappointed but happy for Steven.
"I could host a sleepover soon, and everyone will be invited!" Steven mentioned enthusiastically.
"Everyone?" Connie, Lapis, and Amethyst asked at the same time.
"I'm counting the gems we healed," Steven wanted to reward everyone for their work.
"I don't think there's enough room for everyone in the house," Pearl analyzed, displaying a hologram of everyone crammed into the house.
"We can enlarge it to the size of a battlefield," Bismuth suggested with her hand transformed into a hammer.
"First of all, you said you had a great idea Steven," Garnet mentioned, Steven had already told them a bit about said idea.
"Yeah!" Steven remembered. "You know what to do, guys."
"Of course!" Amethyst confirmed.
"We'll gather most of them," Lapis added.
"All right," Steven said and then turned to Connie. "Come with me Connie, I'll need your help."
"Okay," she said and went with Steven to use the repaired Warp Pad.
In a few minutes all the uncorrupted gems were gathered on the beach, except for Jasper who was continuing her self-exile.
"Does he always use that?" The former tongue gem saw that Steven had his megaphone again.
"It's part of his new style of speech," Peridot said to the gem she captured a while ago.
Steven spoke through a megaphone from his front door. "To begin with!" Steven dropped the megaphone and exclaimed with a cute smile. "Thanks for repairing and remodeling the house! You guys did great!" After hearing him, many gems answered things like "Your welcome", "There is no need", "Anytime" with a gesture of joy.
"No problem!" Nephrite answered, although she only helped to redecorate the bedroom. "But I'll miss the sleepovers," she said in a low voice.
"Nothing is stopping you from hosting one," Connie told her, she was on her right.
"It doesn't make sense anymore," the pilot gem replied.
Steven picked up his megaphone. "I'm going to continue! I brought you guys together to talk about a great idea!" With that said, he handed the megaphone to Garnet.
"We'll build a city for all of you!" When Garnet made the announcement, the uncorrupted Crystal Gems celebrated, the other gems looked surprised.
"All of you will help build it!" Amethyst added, enthusing more gems.
"Since now?" The former tongue gem asked.
"Not yet, first we have to find a space big enough for a city, then we'll decide what materials to use and which ones to buy," Pearl indicated, hinting that construction will begin in weeks or months.
"And why are you telling us now?" The former water bear gem asked.
"We thought you could help us with the plans," Bismuth mentioned and together with Lapis they went down the stairs and placed an A1-size wood-glued sketch of Beach City standing on the sand, from there they will be based for the new gem city.
"I'll do it!" Nephrite ran to where the aforementioned gems were and using one of the nearby crayons, she began to modify the sketch in record time. "Finished!" It's her way of saying "Ta-da!"
The modified sketch looked the same as the previous one, only with the much taller houses and a giant statue of Steven in the center.
Steven approached his friend. "It's a good design Nephrite, but don't you think it looks a little... ostentatious?" He said it looking at the drawing of his statue.
"Not at all, in fact, it would be better if I add a couple more sculptures," Nephrite was about to draw again until Bismuth stopped her by grabbing her arm.
"We appreciate your cooperation, but let the others contribute as well," Bismuth suggested.
"And for what? It's already perfect," Nephrite got a little upset.
Lapis flew to a higher part of the sketch. "It looks good, but if we reduce the size here, it'll be better," she crossed out a part of a building.
Almost all the gems began to come closer to help design the sketch, in a few minutes it began to take shape resulting in the closest design to the Little Homeworld that we know today.
"Oh wait," Peridot added the drawing of a greenhouse. "Now it's perfect!"
"It was fantastic guys!" Steven gave his artistic appreciation, while Team B took the sketch, he added. "Let's go to the city, I'd like to share more with you," he encouraged them to stay longer, the home of most of the uncorrupted gems for now was a battlefield, they replied with "Okay", "Good".
"Steven," Nephrite was with her entire crew, it's worth mentioning that near her was the crayon that she used destroyed. "We'll go now, we have left the dropship alone for a long time."
"You guys have been busy with the ship since we healed you, you need to take a day off," Steven suggested to the octet of nephrites.
"We would like to, but there are no long breaks at work," one of the crewmate answered, then turned to her captain in surprise. "Wow, I spoke the same as you captain," she only responded with a smile and a hug, with one arm.
"I understand, see ya later," Steven was leaving to act as a tour guide for the other gems.
"Wait!" Nephrite called him, making Steven turn around. "By the time the dropship is repaired, would you like to take a ride with us?"
"Of course!" Steven makes his star eyes. "I'll get everything ready for a space adventure."
Nephrite laughed a little, and as usual covering her mouth with her hand, it was impossible to resist the occurrences of the kid who healed her. "It won't be necessary, but hey, you never know what will happen in space." After a brief farewell, together with her crew as bodyguards, she said goodbye to Connie who was talking to the Crystal Gems. "It was nice meeting you, Connie," she said goodbye politely.
"Same to you, goodbye," just as politely, Connie said goodbye to Nephrite, the last one along with her companions entered Steven's house to use the Warp Pad.
End of Flashback
To be continue...
Extra Scene
We've seen a bit of Steven's reunion with the uncorrupted gems, but what happened to the Crytal Gems? Let's take a look at the present.
"Here, no, there, yes, put it there," Amethyst was guiding Bismuth and Lapis to place a board.
"For the third time we've repaired the wall, it's looking good," Pearl looked closely at the wall, they've already advanced more than halfway.
"Well of course! You're counting on our help," by saying our, Peridot meant her and Lapis, Bismuth always helps when it comes to construction.
Garnet came over with some drinks and cookies. "Let's take a break," they all gathered in the main room when they heard her.
Amethyst ate it all in one bite. "Thanks Garnet."
"Do you think Steven is okay?" Lapis began to worry.
"He must be, he's with the gems who know what it's like to be a... you know," Pearl mentioned with complete confidence.
"That's why, seeing them will make him remember what he went through," Lapis added based on her experience. "Their intentions are good, but they aren't the best to be with Steven for now."
"It may be true, but they trust that Steven will give them a chance," Garnet paused. "And yes, he did."
"All those gems went through something similar to what happened to Steven, I'm not surprised they want to support him at all costs," Bismuth mentioned.
"After all, he was the one who healed them," Amethyst thought a bit. "Now that you mention it, it's been a long time since they really talked, even worse with the school thing."
"Then it's perfect! Who knows, maybe they have some unfinished issues," Peridot said remembering certain issues from two years ago, then turned to Lapis. "You don't have to worry Lapis, everything is fine," when Peridot said that, Lapis showed a relieved smile.
Notes:
Well, this is the longest chapter so far, thanks to the flashbacks and the uncorrupted gems (In case you need help with some names you can check the glossary of the uncorrupted gems at the end of chapter 2), they are many, I want to be the most just possible with their dialogues.
There is something I want to explain about the relationship (of friendship) between Steven and the uncorrupted gems, he does care about them, they are also his friends, and they also love him very much, it was he who healed them, however there is a "complex of inferiority" among them to put it in some way (And not only because of the fact that Steven is half Diamond), the exceptions of this complex would be Jasper (For obvious reasons) and Nephrite (She made friends with Steven long ago, also her personality helps).
Also as we saw at the beginning of the chapter, Steven has his first nightmare related to his meltdown, this will be important, we will see it much later.
Another thing I want to detail is about the relationship between the Crystal Gems and the gems loyal to Homeworld, with knowing the truth about Pink Diamond most of the second group of gems "opened their eyes" with the subject of the Diamonds and their empire, although they have a hard time adjusting to a new life, we will briefly see that in the next chapter, besides, I'm making this fanfic as faithful as possible to the cannon and well, we don't know which side each of them were on, at most we know about 30% of them, so I'll put it in a general way.
Time for curiosities and details:
-You guessed it, I made a reference to Change Your Mind, the way of the uncorrupted gems to "apologize" is the same that Steven used to heal them: A "party" at the Fountain! ^o^
-For a long time before reaching this chapter I was thinking whether to give Steven corruption scars or not, in the end I decided that it was better not (if I had decided that yes, Steven's scars would be on his back), considering that Steven's powers are linked to his emotions I decided to leave it as a shapeshifting, but out of control :o
-As I said, I didn't forget about the water bear gem or the rest of Nephrite's crew, so I gave them dialogues, also I added the tongue gem that Peridot captured, later we will see what happened to them so that they aren't in the present.
-I got quite confused trying to get the depth of Steven's Fountain (A.K.A. ex Rose's Fountain), my conclusion is that it's deep enough that the tall gems can stand. In short, the only ones that "float "(It seems that the water is salty or has unique properties, in Change Your Mind I didn't see anyone doing the movement to float) would be Steven, Larimar and the two beetle gems.
-Giant detail: For the personalities of the uncorrupted gems I was based on the type of gem (Quality) and the location, for example, jaspers, quartz and lace have a similar personality to Bismuth (There are also more qualities depending on the type of gem, for example, Lace A. has something of Amethyst's personality), the funny thing is that most of them have the gem in the chest so this is true for all of them with slight exceptions (Example, the nephrites Ponytail and Pigtails have the gem in the chest, but they're more "calm"). Other examples of location of the gem would be Spodumene and Buns (A.K.A. the nephrite Pucca xD) their gems are in the belly so their personalities would be similar to Steven and Navy. An example of a personality based on the type of gem would be Bixbite, we don't know where her gem is located, but this gem is known as the one of the correct time, so a part of her personality comes from there.
-You may have noticed that one of the flashbacks, Act 2 precisely, ended abruptly, this type of flashbacks means that it's not complete, we'll see it again later ^o^
-Speaking of Act 2, there is something I would like to explain, specifically about Nephrite's passing out, is it possible for a gem to pass out without fight or some physical overexertion? My theory is: If she experiences very strong negative emotions, it'd be yes, and if they're even stronger, she would poof/evaporate, also I believe that the latter was what happened with Spinel so that she would poof before going to Earth with her injector in the movie.
-I always liked the interactions between different characters, so from time to time we'll see interactions never seen before in the series. For example, here we saw some interactions between Connie and Nephrite (They both have an air of "boss" so it looks great, we also saw them very close in Future's intro, maybe they became friends. I know an intro doesn't define nothing but there is a possibility...), as well as one of Peridot with the gem she captured (I wanted to see how they would get along, let's say they have a somewhat special friendship relationship, it should be noted that the last one has the gem on her nose so her personality is a bit similar to Jasper ...). Speaking of interactions, I tried to put one with Lapis and the other Crystal Gems in the extra scene, they need to talk more ^o^
Well my dear readers, see you in chapter 8, that is, the second part ^o^
