The night of Stein's Christmas party, Hans found Hogwarts' Vanishing Cabinet in The Room of Requirement, put a green apple into it and when the apple returned, it had been bitten.
At the party, Jack had his photo taken with a very happy Professor Stein.
After the photo was taken and Stein went off to other guests, Jack saw Merida hide behind some curtains in front of a balcony. He went behind the curtains with Merida and asked, "What are you doing back here?"
"Hidin' from Snotlout," she said. "He almost got me under tha mistletoe."
"Ugh, Snotlout? THAT'S who you invited? Did you do it just to annoy Fishlegs?"
"No. Maybe. Shut up." Merida punched Jack's arm.
A server came up to them and offered Dragon Tartar.
"No thank you," Merida replied.
"Don't blame you," the server said. "They'll give you horrible breath."
"Gimme," Merida said, snatched the plate away from the man, and threw back some of the tartar. "Hopefully, it'll keep snotboy at bay." She saw Snotlout approaching, groaned, and ran off.
Snotlout joined Jack just as Merida slipped away.
"Just missed her, man. She went to the bathroom," Jack lied.
Snotlout grinned. "That's a slippery minx you got there as a friend, Frost. Likes to run that pretty mouth of hers too." He started eating the Dragon Tartar. "What is this?"
Jack grinned, seizing his opportunity. "Dragon testicles."
Munds pulled back the curtains and got Snotlout's vomit on his shoes.
When Snotlout came back up, he was face-to-face with Munds.
"You just hurled yourself a month's worth of detention, Jorgenson."
Jack slipped past the curtains.
"Not so fast, Frost."
"Damn," Jack whispered to himself as he stopped. He turned and said, "I think I should return to the party. My brother-"
"Can survive without you for a while longer," Munds interrupted. "I'm just here to give a message."
Jack glared at Munds. "From who?"
"Professor North. He wishes you best and wants you to enjoy Christmas. He's traveling for the holiday."
"Where to?"
Munds walked away.
Jack simply watched him until the sound of Mildew escorting Hans from a room got his attention.
"Let go of me you filthy, vermin!" Hans yelled at Mildew.
Mildew announced to Professor Stein that he found Hans upstairs, claiming to have been invited to the party.
Hans admitted to crashing the party.
Munds suggested he escort Hans out and so he did.
Stein chuckled and used his cheery demeanor to bring the party back to life.
Outside of the party, in one of the many halls of Hogwarts, Munds and Hans were arguing.
"So, what if I make an appearance here and there?" Hans questioned.
Munds pinned him against a wall. "Your job is not to act!"
"That's my job," Eugene said, emerging from the shadows of the hall.
Hans scoffed. "What are you doing here?"
Eugene stared Hans down. "Checking on my distraction."
"'Distraction'?" Hans scoffed once again.
"Decoy, distraction, whatever you want to call it."
"You should get back to the party," Munds told Eugene.
"And what do I tell Jack? I've been gone for the same amount time as you."
Quiet settled down amongst them as Munds thought.
"Tell him…about The Unbreakable Vow," Munds said.
Hans shouted, "What?"
"He'll tell every adult we know," Eugene replied.
Munds smirked. "Your brother is a fool, they won't believe him and even if they do, they will still doubt."
"Because of your connection to Uncle North."
"Exactly. Now go!"
On their way home, in the Hogwarts Express, Eugene told Jack, Fishlegs, Kristoff, Hiccup, and Astrid about the Unbreakable Vow.
"Should've guessed he was in league with Drago," Jack said.
"Now, hold a minute," Hiccup replied. "We can't go around assuming things about a professor. We need to make sure we have all the necessary information we need."
"Eugene heard it himself," Jack argued.
"We understand," Astrid said.
Hiccup sighed. "There has to be something we're missing. Maybe Munds is doing it to trick Drago, like a double agent."
Jack rolled his eyes and crossed his arms.
Hiccup added, "If Uncle North trusts him, then maybe we should too."
"That's really how you feel?" Jack asked.
"Yes, and knowing our parents, they'll say the same thing."
Fishlegs then said, "Oh no."
The others looked to the door, where Fishlegs was looking, and saw Tink standing on the other side with a wide smile.
Tink breathed on the cool glass of the door, drew a heart with an arrow through it, and her and Fishleg's first initials in the heart. She breathed over her art to make it last a bit longer and skipped off.
Kristoff leaned back with his hands behind his head, saying, "Well, that was weird."
"Does she have any shame at all?" Astrid asked Fishlegs.
"None," Fishlegs answered. "And all she wants to do is kiss me! My lips are chapped. Look!" He puckered his lips and leaned towards Hiccup.
"I'll take your word for it, Fishlegs," Hiccup told him, holding out his hand to stop Fishlegs from coming closer.
Jack and Eugene chuckled at Fishlegs and Hiccup.
They all saw Merida come to the door and walk away after seeing Tink's drawing.
Anna rolled her eyes when she saw the drawing and followed Merida.
Rapunzel and Elsa followed them as well, but waved at Jack and Eugene.
Fishlegs slumped against his seat. "What is my life?"
Everyone chuckled at him and Hiccup patted him on the shoulder.
AUTHOR'S NOTE:
Sorry for the long wait! I recently got a new job and it's been putting me down with the crazy hours and extra shifts, I just haven't had much time or inspiration to write. Thank you for being patient and reading this! Hopefully the next chapter will be longer and I can finish this installment in at least 12 chapters like usual. Thank you again and I hope everyone is doing well!
