I have left this story alone for far too long, probably going to need to re-watch the Rookie so I can keep the characters true, been too long between seasons and I can't picture the major players anymore.

Anyway the timeline of this is story is after 'A new Beginning' and the events of 'Team Flash' but 'Capes and Horn' is after this story, confused? I hope so! Lol Hope you enjoy

Lucifer smirked as it dawned on Ella that celestial definitions of vulnerability differed from the usual human standards,

"Well that is good!" Ella stated matter-of-factly and matched his smirk. "We will get to the bottom of this Lucifer!"

The door to Ella's lab burst open, Lucifer tensed, ready to strike if needed, but what he was faced with was a rather determined and attractive blonde woman,

"Well hello there!" Lucifer couldn't help himself despite the situation,

"I'm Dr Grace Sawyer," Ignoring Lucifer's comment, she was here to help after all, "John called me, I mean Officer Nolan, anyway, he said a young woman was in need of help! That is why I am here," She was already at Cassiel's side and had started examining the young woman,

"That is not necessary doctor, my sister will be fine in a few hours!" Lucifer pulled his sister closer to himself as if shielding her from the obtrusive doctor,

"Are you a doctor? No? Well let me do my job!" Ella giggled at the look on Lucifer's face,

"Come on bro, lets let the Doc here do her thing," Ella knew she was probably saving the doctor an earful from a pissed off Devil of how he somehow knew best,

"Very well Miss Lopez, but I assure you that none of this is required, my sister will be fine."

"I know that but let the doc double check, otherwise that may raise more questions, questions we don't want to be answering," The last part of her statement was whispered, Lucifer just nodded as he finally seemed to grasp the situation and followed Ella out of her lab, he gave his sister one final concerned look before disappearing through the door.

"So Cass, how are you?" Dr Linda smiled as she focused on the young angel sitting comfortably on her couch,

"Better." A simple but telling response,

"Well you are certainly looking better from the last time I saw you but how are you really doing, emotionally?"

"I…I don't know how to answer that Linda, I don't have any frame of reference!" Cassiel hung her head, which to Linda's trained eye looked like shame,

"Well that is why you are here, whatever you are feeling, it's ok, just lay it all out there and we can tackle each point on its own, it will be less of a daunting exercise." Cassiel looked back up and seemed to be trying to put her thoughts into words, Linda waited patiently,

"Oh Dad, this may take a while!"

"Don't worry, we have all day."

"What about your other patients, they probably need you to, I don't want to take their time!" Cassiel sounded distraught by Linda's statement,

"Its Sunday Cass, I don't see patients on Sundays unless it's an emergency, so time is not an issue, now please go on?" As much as Linda wanted to be irritated by having to work on the weekend, she couldn't, Cassiel had been through a horrific and traumatic experience and needed her help, all of their help,

"Oh that makes it even worse, now I am taking you away from Charlie, I'm sorry Linda, I should just go." Cassiel started to gather her belongings,

"Sit!" Linda's tone was commanding, Cassiel sat, "You are as much family as Charlie is so I am not sure he will mind, I am sure he would want his aunty back to her best! Now let's get back to it, what are you feeling right now?"

"Guilt!"

Cassiel woke with a start, limbs flailing which Grace managed to avoid, "Hey, it's ok, you are safe."

"Who are you?" Cassiel was wary, was this another human trying to hurt her,

"I'm Dr Grace Sawyer, I was just checking to make sure you were ok, do you know where you are?"

"Looks like Ella lab."

"Good, Now, how many fingers am I holding up?" Grace had three fingers held up,

"Six, the three in front of me, plus the three you are for some reason holding up behind your back,

"How did you know that?" Grace was a little taken aback by that statement.

"I can see them in the reflection on the freezer door, where is everybody else?"

"Well that rules out concussion but to answer your question they are waiting outside. I am sure they will be glad that you are awake and don't appear to have any broken bones or anything else serious as I can tell without any further tests. Do you want me to get them for you?"

"No need doctor, I will tell them in person but thank you for your concern." Cassiel slowly got to her feet, she wobbled slightly, and Grace was ready and at her side to catch her should she fall but she didn't.

Cassiel emerged from Ella's lab and was instantly assaulted with hugs and questions but seemed none the worse from her ordeal, Nolan however pulled Grace aside,

"So how is she Doc?" John was keeping one eye of the happy group on the other side of the bull pen as he spoke,

"Physically? John, she seems fine, no broken bones, not cuts, slight bruising but nothing I would class as serious, unless she wants to go in for an MRI or CT, there is not much more I can tell you."

"So where's all the blood from? Grace you never saw her walk in, there must be something?" Nolan was serious, his brain couldn't reconcile the girl who had walked into the station an hour ago and then subsequently collapsed to the girl now joking with her friends and family as if nothing had ever happened,

"I can't answer that John, maybe something horrific happened, she saw it and went into shock, came here as a reflex but I am only guessing, also aren't you the Detective now, shouldn't that be your job, to figure all this out?" Grace smirked and Nolan joined her,

"Yeah but I'm not sure where to start."

"Maybe just start at the beginning?" Grace encouraged,

"Oh that will take quite some time!" Lucifer unashamedly slid into their private conversation.
