As promised, this chapter takes place right after the finale of 8x04. I can't wait for the next episode and what they have in store for our fav couple.

I really hope you'll enjoy this. It has a bit of smut but nothing too explicit.

Can't wait to read your thoughts!

"Good, glad I talked to him," she effortlessly lied to him.

What the hell was that? Why did she utter those words? Actually, she knew exactly why. Because if she had admitted the truth, Jay would dive into psycho analyzing her. She wasn't ready for that. She wasn't ready to have that discussion with herself let alone her partner.

What was she supposed to say? That she drove all the way to the hospital, walked up to his room but never found the strength to cross the door?

One glimpse of her father and all those dark memories came flooding her mind. All the horror, pain, fear, humiliation. One look at him and she could still feel every hit. She could still see every bruise on her body. She could still…. No, she shook her head in denial. She couldn't relive all that trauma again. She refused to let him have any influence over her mind whereas her body could still remember.

The moment she saw him laying on that hospital bed, a cold chill ran down her spine. He was smiling to that nurse. She couldn't even recall the last time she had seen him smiling. What a great performance. What a façade. Pretending to be the perfect family man. She had scoffed in disgust trying to hold back her tears.

How could her mother still be with that man? How could she believe that he had changed? Why was it so easy for her to forget the past? All the nights he had come home drunk. All the mornings she covered her bruised face with tones of makeup. All the times he had taken his anger out on Hailey and her brothers. All the times he had humiliated them during family dinners. All the times he had verbally diminished them. All the times that instead of laughters, their house was filled with screams. All the times….

Hailey was just a kid but those memories were carved with incandescent iron in her soul.

She had shared some of these details with Jay, but not the ugly ones. She felt vulnerable and ashamed though she knew she had no reason to be. She was the victim, her father was the perpetrator. He should be ashamed. If he was the changed man her mother claimed he was, then why hadn't he begged for her forgiveness?

No, people like him never change. They just masterfully put on a mask and fool the whole world.

Thankfully Jay didn't ask for more details. Probably because he had seen right through her lie. Of course he had. She always felt transparent in front of him.

His damn green eyes piercing her blue. Reassuring her without actually saying the words, that he was there to stay.

She hated lying to him but at that moment but all she wanted was a quiet night with him. She needed to feel his arms around her body once again.

For the past 24 hours she had used him as a punching bag and yet he was still there. She didn't even mean all those things she said to him. Couldn't he hear her 'screaming please don't leave me?'

Of course she needed his help. Of course she needed him.

Actually, his presence always had a soothing affect on her.

The two partners stood there for a few seconds, pretending to be enjoying their cold beers.

"Are you staying the night?" Hailey broke the awkward silence that surrounded the room.

Jay couldn't hide his grin. "Is that an invitation?"

Hailey placed her beer on the counter and looked straight into his eyes with a slight smirk. That was all the invitation he needed. He ran down to his car, took out the gym bag and walked back to her apartment.

"Someone felts cocky," Hailey smiled as he entered her apartment.

"What do you mean?" Jay frowned his eyebrows walking towards her bedroom.

"You came with a change of clothes?" she followed him and pointed at his bag. "You really thought you'd get lucky tonight, didn't you?"

"Well," he left the bag on the bed and slowly walked up to her. "I hoped so," Jay whispered, his eyes locked on her pink lips.

He leaned forward, his mouth meeting hers in the most delicate kiss ever. Their lips barely touching as if he was afraid she might break.

"Do you mind if I take a bath?" Jay asked with a hint of embarrassment in his voice."I got caught up with the paperwork I never had the chance to go back home."

"Sure," she smiled taking a blue towel from her closet and handing it to him.

Suddenly she felt like a cute domestic couple. A couple of years ago she would have freaked out to the idea of sharing her life with someone. Even while she was dating Adam, if you could call it dating, all they ever did was share a bed. Nothing more. No romantic dates, no movie nights, no long walks or talks. Just meaningless sex.

Come to think about it, she and Jay had been in a relationship for years, they just didn't know it yet.

Hailey watched her partner enter the bathroom and soon the sound of the running water filled the air. She sat on her bed laying her hand on his black bag. Before she realized it, a smile formed on her lips. Soon though, the smile faded away as fear consumed her mind. Was she really ready for this? Was she girlfriend material? How would Jay react once he found out the truth about her father? Would he still look at her the same? Would he still want her?

Hailey wiped her running nose as unexpected tears were burning her eyes. What was the matter with her? All she ever wanted was in that bathroom yet she was sitting like a depressed damsel in distress. They had been two very long days and all she wanted was to feel free. Free of anger, pain, fear. All she wanted to feel was Jay. She didn't want to think anything other the amazing sensations that he caused her.

She quickly wiped her tears with her sleeve and removed her clothers, leaving her only in her matching white underwear.

Hailey opened the bathroom door and made her way to the shower through the steamy clouds. Without hesitation, she opened the shower door clearly surprising Jay.

"What are you doing?" his eyes widened at her sight.

Hailey didn't say a word. She walked in, placed her hands on his bare chest and pushed him until his back hit the wall. The hot water was running down her body making the white material of her bra almost sheer.

No words were exchanged but her lustful blue eyes made her intentions perfectly clear. She wanted him as much as he wanted her. His already hard member pressing her abdomen.

With one shift move he turned her around so that she was facing the glass wall, her hands pressed on it for support.

With painstakingly slow moves, he removed her panties. One hand landed on her neck, the other down to her core. Little whimpers escaped her lips as his fingers masterfully played with her. She could feel his hot breath on her neck as his other hand travelled to her breasts, teasing her hard nipples over the wet fabric.

Oh, the sensations were just too much she needed to hold on from something. One hand remained on the glass while she raised the other above her head and clasped the back of Jay's neck. Her head falling back to rest on his strong chest. She was starting to feel weak on her knees but Jay's grasp was too strong to let her fall. Her hot breath was fogging the glass but she could still see her reflection on the mirror across the room. Her hair was a wet mess. Her cheeks were flushed and her eyes almost seemed black with lust. All that, was Jay's doing. He had that power over her and she loved every second of it. She seeked for his green eyes but his face was buried on her neck, licking and biting that sensitive spot.

Soon, that wonderful wave of pleasure ran through her whole body leaving her shaking and breathless. Before she had time to pull herself together, Jay turned her around until she was the one with her back against the cold tile wall. She wanted to feel him, touch him, but he pinned her hands above her head. Her mouth was slightly open out of her desire to kiss him, but he didn't oblige. Instead of her lips, his mouth landed once again on her neck leaving her frustrated and needy.

He was so good at foreplay it should be illegal. He left a wet trail of kisses from her down to her chest. Jay lowered himself a bit and Hailey could finally rest her hand on his shoulders. Her nails digging into his skin when his lips landed on her nipple. He still hadn't removed he bra. He enjoyed teasing her a bit too much. His teeth were nipping one nipple as his hand grabbed her other brest.

Well, her goal was accomplished. She was definitely not thinking or feeling anything other than Jay's hands and mouth, anticipating his next moves.

The hot steam water made it hard for her to breath. But when Jays finally rid her of her bra a moan of satisfaction escaped her lips.

Jay started kissing her belly, his hands moving once again south her naked body. His scraff hard against her skin. No, she couldn't take it anymore. She wanted him and she wanted him now.

She grabbed his face forcing his to stand up and pulled him for a long passionate kiss. She was so lost in the moment, she didn't even realize biting him at some point.

Thankfully, Jay obliged to her needs and soon enough he guided himself in her. They couldn't even hear the sound of the water anymore. Just their heavy breathing, their whimpers and moans.

It didn't take long for either of them to finish. This time it wasn't about duration. It was about quality. And Jay knew exactly what Hailey needed without even having to ask. That's what she loved about him. She felt broken but he fixed her with every touch. That is why she burst down in tears after they were done.

"I am sorry," she said splashing water on her face. "I don't even know why I am crying."

"Hey," Jay whispered and placed his hand on her facing, whipping away the tears. "You don't have to apologize. Let it all out. Whatever it is, don't keep it in. Don't nest it."

"It's not that," she smiled embarrassed. "I am crying because I am genuinely happy. I have never been this happy in my entire life and I fear something is going to ruin us."

Jay stoke the wet hair from her face, "Listen to me. Nothing else matters, only us."

Hailey stared up into his eyes, her fear fading into a look of peace.

He kissed her softly on the forehead and held her in his arms. They stayed like that until their skin was starting to wrinkle.

Minutes later they were both laying in Hailey's bed. Up until that moment, her bed seemed empty. It seemed that it was lacking something. Turns out, it was lacking her partner. She didn't want to sleep alone ever again. Even though she was tough, strong and surely not at all needy, she craved Jay's presence. He had a soothing factor on her. She felt protected and safe. She crawled up next to him, nesting under his arm. Her head resting on his bare chest breathing in his intoxicating scent.

Jay pulled her closer, leaving no room for barriers between their bodies. Tangled together, one hand was holding hers while the other was rubbing her bare back. A simple gesture yet so comforting.

"You know I am not going anywhere, right? Jay whispered against her forehead. "I am whatever you need me to be. I'll listen if you want to talk. I'll hold you if you want comfort. I'll kill anyone who wants to hurts you. I will always be here, I promise."

Hailey couldn't help but smile at his sudden declaration of love. Well, he hadn't actually used the 'L' word, but the sentiment was definitely there. Honestly though, that scared the crap out of her. How far would Jay go for her? How far was she willing to go for him? He was the most important person in her life so, all the way was her answer.
