Chapter 8

"Let me assure you two that my school will be a great place for your son to learn all that he needs to know in life." Said Aragor as he escorted the Sisters of Twilight and their son through his school, all of whom were looking at the school with curiosity and awe, even Arahan was looking with interest at the myriad of stuff around them.

The hallways were clean and filled with pictures and portraits of young children of men that they assumed to be graduates of this school and the windows showed a garden in the middle of the establishment. It wasn't big, but it was big enough that it had its own small waterfall made of stone.

"Yes sir. I paid good money in making this school as welcoming and calming as possible." Said Aragor as he stopped to look back at the Sisters and Diederick. "I've learned in my childhood that, in order for a child to do the best he can possibly do, they need to feel welcomed and calm. That way they can do their learning without any sense of worry or feel that they aren't welcomed in this establishment."

"That sounds quite noble, Mr. Aragor." Said Naestra with a smile. "Such an investment cannot come cheap. I imagine."

"Oh it isn't, I assure you." Said Aragor with a smile. "Indeed, if it weren't for the donations I have received from both the major of this wonderful city as well as the support of my business partners, I never would have gotten this far." Aragor then sighed before speaking up again. "It's been a long ride, but one that I believe will be worth it. After all, the next generation deserves to be given as much support as it needs in order to prepare themselves for what lies ahead of them." Both Naestra and Arahan nodded in agreement at that, though for different reasons. Arahan to prepare them for the battles that needed to be fought for the future of a person's civilization and Naestra to advance their civilization to a higher level of peace and illumination for all, perhaps even create a way for people of different races to convene and just get along. Regardless, they both agreed that this school for their son looks very appealing to them.

The owner was nice. Diligent. And so, caring towards his students' wellbeing that they doubted that any of those under his employee would treat their son with disdain. They'll still go to the other institutions of learning to see if there were others much better than Aragors', but so far, it seemed his school will be a good choice for them.

"You are kind and generous beyond belief, sir Aragor." Said Naestra as she held Diederick's hand. "But going back to the topic of our son, if we choose your school as the place for him to go to, will you take him in?"

"Of course." Said Aragor. "If you do indeed choose this place for your son, then it shouldn't take too much to have him undertake classes here. Fortunately, it's the summer, so your son wouldn't be missing any subjects from any of the classes we assign to him." Naestra nodded at that before speaking with Aragor about other things that were important to talk about. Arahan, at this point, decided that she wasn't needed and decided to leave. She also decided to take Diederick with her do they can bond more.

When she told Naestra about her plans, her sister was delighted to hear that Arahan was taking her role as a mother more seriously. And Diederick was rather happy to be with Arahan more so he can bond with her more. Not that it was needed.

After telling her sister where they were going to meet up, which was one of the schools they decided to visit, Arahan bid her sister goodbye as well as making a promise to keep their son safe, Arahan took Diederick and left Naestra alone with Aragor. Once they were gone, Naestra resumed the talks with Aragor. As they talked, Naestra wondered if her sister can refrain from getting into trouble as they really didn't need people after them.

Sometime later

Arahan

"This place is amazing!" Yelled Diederick as he walked with Arahan through the streets of Magnolia. "So many people in one place and they're not bumping into each other or causing a ruckus. And the food and buildings here. They're simply amazing. Don't you think so, mother?"

"No." Said Arahan as she walked side by side with her son. "This place is far too crowded for my tastes. And the people." She then glared at two men that were eying her lustfully. They gulped when she noticed them along with the murderous glare she sent their way. Once they were gone from her sight, Arahan spoke again. "These men. You must be careful around them. You never know if their intentions are pure or not." Diederick frowned at that. Not believing that his mother's paranoia was justified.

"But if we think that everyone we met intends dark deeds with us, then it makes it difficult for us to make friends. Especially me." Said Diederick.

"True, but are you prepared for the heartbreak that will occur when those people you do make friends with actually do betray you?" Asked Arahan as she looked at her son with a serious look on her face. Before Diederick could even speak, Arahan's elven ears overheard a very loud voice.

"Take this fire breath!" Yelled a very high-pitched voice as the sounds of battle were heard throughout the streets.

Upon hearing that voice and the sounds of battle, Arahan narrowed her eyes and got ready for a fight while placing Diederick behind her. To her surprise, however, most of the people around her were just acting normally, like this was the norm. They were still running away but held looks of solemn acceptance. Like this happened before. Before she could even think of what this meant, the cause of the shouting and sounds of battle came to her.

Coming from the left of her, Arahan saw, strangely enough, a pink-haired child coming towards her location with a dark-haired child of man. The two were fighting each other and their fighting was coming towards her and Diederick, spouting out either ice or fire from, to Arahan's astonishment, their mouths or hands.

As they approached closer to the white-haired elf, Arahan placed a hand on a hidden knife on her person while also getting ready to pounce on the moment's notice to protect herself and her son.

Sure enough, her precautions were well-founded as the two children sent a fireball and some icicles their way. Grabbing Diederick, Arahan moved them out of the way, dodging the attacks just in time. She then covered Diederick when both attacks hit a nearby building and sent debris everywhere. After the dust cleared, Arahan looked to see the two children still fighting amongst themselves, causing so much damage with their, what she can only assume, magic. They even nearly hit both her and Diederick on several occasions.

Deciding to put a stop to it, Arahan placed Diederick in a somewhat safe place before swiftly going over to the two children just as they were about to launch another attack against each other. Grabbing one of the black-haired one's ears first, she then swiftly grabbed the pink-haired one just as he unleashed a fire breath attack, gracefully dodging the attack, which put it on a collision course with a fruit stand. As the fruit stand was destroyed, Arahan glared down on both children as they processed what the hell just happened. One moment, they were fighting, the next their ears were being pulled by a woman.

Pulling on both children's ears, Arahan couldn't care less when they cried out in pain.

"Quit it, lady!" Yelled the black-haired child as he tried to get free, only for Arahan to pull his ear even harder, causing him to wince in pain.

"Yeah, quit it or face my dragon fist!" Yelled the pink-haired one as he glared up at Arahan, who just glared back.

"Why would I do such a thing when the both of you will just go and start your fight all over again?" Demanded Arahan as she glanced over at the destruction before her, disgusted along with being a bit shocked and impressed that such destruction was all done by children. "What do you have to say for all this destruction that both of you have caused?" It was then that the two noticed the destruction that was all around them.

"Whoa." Said the pink-haired boy as he looked at the carnage that was all around them. "The gramps isn't going to be happy about this."

"Not happy?" Said the black-haired boy incredulously as he looked at the pink-haired boy as if he just said something stupid. "He'll murder us for causing this much damage to Magnolia. Great job flame brain. If you hadn't been such an idiot with that last attack, none of this would have happened." Upon hearing that, the pink-haired boy glared at the black-haired one murderously.

"Want to say that again, Ice breath!" Yelled the pink-haired boy as he breathed out fire. Before the black-haired child could speak, Arahan pulled their ears again, causing them to wince.

"Enough or so help me I'll be cutting off your tongues and feeding them to animals." Threatened Arahan as she glared at both of them. Her murderous glare was enough to shut the both of them up, allowing Arahan to get a good look at both of them.

The pink-haired one was wearing a red shirt and white pants. He also had a white scarf around his neck. He was currently looking at her with scared black eyes, obviously, her intimidation worked well with him if the scared look he was giving her was any indication.

The black-haired one had dark-blue eyes with pale skin. He also, strangely enough, had only black boxers on. Which was strange as the first time Arahan saw him, he had a full set of clothes on. He also looked at her, scared of her, which was fine with Arahan. She wanted them to be afraid of her so she can stop them from destroying more things and hurt her son.

"Now, if both of you are done destroying this city, would you mind telling me what you two were doing destroying this city?" Demanded Arahan, wanting to know what caused these two to wreck the city in their fighting. Normally she would have killed the ones responsible and be done with it or leave the city guards to deal with it, but these two nearly hurt Diederick and herself so she wanted to know the reasoning behind the destruction. They were also children and that caused her to stay her hand. At least until they give her one good reason to not.

"Well," Started the black-haired boy. "We were having a fight that flame-brain totally started and we took the fight outside."

"And what were you fighting about?" Asked Arahan, her opinion on them already lowered by what was said. Perhaps even more so if the answer she got was unsatisfactory. "And give me your actual names. Not insults."

"Well, flame…Natsu." Said the black-haired boy when Arahan intensified her glare. "Said that he would be a better Fairy Tail mage than me when we grew up and that he'll become an S-class mage before me. I got mad and started throwing insults at him. Things escalated from there and we took it outside of the guild apparently. You can guess the rest." Once he finished, the boy gulped when Arahan let go of both boys and glared at him and Natsu.

"So, you both did this much damage because of insults and boasting?" Asked Arahan rhetorically as she gritted her teeth. Never in her life had she never heard such stupid reasoning for starting a fight and she heard many throughout her life, like Bretonnian knights fighting Wood elves because they were in their sighs and Orcs wanting to fight someone just because they look good to fight against. As the two boys shook in their feet from her glare, Arahan noticed Diederick coming out of his safe spot. Willing him to get close, Arahan took Diederick in her arms before returning to glare at the two boys.

"In case it's not known to you two, you nearly killed my son." Said Arahan, causing them to widen their eyes in shock. "And that's not counting the other people around here when you brought your fighting here. How many people have been hurt or even killed from your fight? How many more could have been hurt had I not stopped you?" The two just looked away in shame as Arahan looked at Diederick, who looked a bit embarrassed at his mother holding him with her arms in front of two people.

"Can you let go, mother?" Asked Diederick, feeling a bit embarrassed at the position he was in. Arahan complied and let go, placing a hand on a hip. Looking at the boys, she spoke.

"Take me to this guild of yours." Demanded Arahan. "I intend to speak with whoever is in charge of you. Let's hear what they have to say with all this." The one called Natsu gulped at this, not liking their guild master to hear about this destruction along with hearing a scary woman's complaint about it, but he had no choice. This woman was scary. Just as scary, if not more, than the old man when he was angry. There was something about her that scared him. And it wasn't just from her glare or the hood that shadowed her face partially from him.

The black-haired one, meanwhile, just sighed and resigned him to whatever punishment awaited them from the guild master.

"I'll led the way." Said the black-haired child. "Just follow me and we'll be there soon." Arahan just nodded at that before willing the boy to lead. As they all walked, Arahan looked at Diederick.

"Stay close to me at all times. If anything goes wrong, I want you to run and find Naestra." Whispered Arahan, causing Diederick to look at her in surprise. "If the rest of their guild is as violent and reckless as these two, I want you close to me so I can protect you. And if they prove too much for me, just run. I don't want you hurt. Just take Naestra and run. I'll be fine." Diederick, however, shook his head.

"No, I won't leave you, mother." Said Diederick as he hugged Arahan's thigh. "I don't want to lose you. I rather die than abandon you." Arahan internally sighed at this. Just as stubborn as she and Naestra were. Figures.

Speaking of her sister, she wondered what Naestra was doing.

Sometime later

Naestra

"*Sighs* Sister." Said Naestra as she looked at the carnage before her. After finishing her talks with Aragor, she left to go find her sister and son so they can go to the next school together. As she was walking, she stumbled upon all this destruction. The only thing she had in mind was that Arahan was somehow involved in all this. To what extent, she had no idea, but she knew that Arahan was involved somehow. She just prayed it was a benevolent role and she wasn't the instigator of all this.

It'll also better help this story if I have people point out plot holes and the like so I can fix them before things get too out of hand in terms of chapter uploads.
