A/N: Hello. :) Here, we finally have another chapter for this story ready and it basically shows the aftermath of what happened last night.
Hulk and Red She-Hulk
Chapter 8: The Aftermath
The next morning, Isabella and Theodore went inside Betty's house in concern.
"Betty?", Isabella asked before walking up to her room and noticing Betty lying on her bed with her clothes all in tatters before she got up.
"Betty, are you all right?", Theodore asked.
"Isabella? Theodore? Where's Bruce?", Betty asked.
Later, as if to answer, the Ross trio arrived at Bruce's house to find him in the same position Betty found herself in before he was later given some chicken to eat.
"There was some sort of explosion. They wouldn't let us into the building. I was worried about you two.", Isabella spoke.
"And as if that wasn't bad enough, Rebecca said that you two turned into monsters and smashed everything in you fit of rage. Scared her out of her mind.", Theodore added.
"Well, I'm okay. Same for Betty, too.", Bruce responded.
"What really happened to you guys last night?", Theodore asked.
"We had the most vivid dream. It was like being born. Coming up for air. Light hitting my face. Screaming. My heartbeat- it was like, boom... boom... boom.", Bruce replied.
"Is this true?", Isabella asked.
"Yeah.", Betty responded.
"Were you two at the lab?", Isabella asked.
"No, but something... and there was that man. The one with the dogs.", Betty responded.
"Who?", Isabella asked.
"That new janitor. He said he was my father.", Bruce responded before there was a knock on the door.
"I'll get it.", Isabella spoke before walking over to the door and opening it only to notice the last person she ever wanted to see.
"My father.", Isabella mouthed to herself before she walked back in and sat down with Bruce and Betty looking up to see General Ross.
"My, my. So, this is the young Bruce Ba- Krenzler. I think you left something in your lab last night.", Ross spoke before showing Bruce his wallet.
"Mitchell, escort my daughters outside. I'll join her shortly.", Ross advised.
"I'd rather stay here.", Betty responded.
"Now, Betty.", Ross began.
"Trust me. You should let her stay with him.", Isabella advised.
"Yeah. From what I heard, you wouldn't like her when she's angry.", Theodore responded, giving Ross some food for thought.
"All right.", Ross agreed before Isabella and Theodore left the house.
"Keep them under observation. I'll be back.", Ross spoke before going outside to meet them there for an explanation.
"What?", Isabella asked.
"Your sister and her friend in there. There's a good chance he's caught up in some very bad business, same as Betty. Unfinished business. And I promise you, I'm gonna get to the bottom of it. You have my word I'll make sure they're cared for. But as of right now, they are incommunicado. And for the next few days at least, you're gonna stay away from here. For your own good.", Ross advised before Theodore started the car and later spoke with someone about a certain address for the person they're looking for.
"Okay, and that's for the new guy on the night shift, right? Great. Thank you. I appreciate it.", Isabella thanked before later, Theodore and Isabella arrived at a sort of home where the dogs resided.
"Mr. and Ms. Ross. How unexpected. Please come in.", David invited before they both entered the house as David closed the door.
"I'm sorry we had to just show up at your house like this.", Isabella apologized before David then started moving some things from the couch.
"We have questions here, regarding both your son and our sister.", Theodore spoke.
"They told you?", David asked.
"He said you talked to him.", Isabella responded.
"Oh. Please sit down.", David spoke before Isabella sat down next to him.
"Bruce and Betty were at the lab last night. They said that you were there, too.", Isabella explained.
"And the worst part is, according to Rebecca, they suddenly turned into monsters and destroyed everything in the lab in a fit of rage and scared her away, all because of what you did!", Theodore added angrily, although David remained calm.
"So, you want to know, uh, what's wrong with him... so you can fix him? Cure him, change him.", David guessed.
"Our father's with the military. He seems to think they're involved in some kind of threat to national security.", Isabella responded.
"Mmm. Your father. Ross. You brought your father down upon his head? How little you understand, Miss Ross, and how dangerous your ignorance has become.", David spoke.
"The only thing more dangerous is what I'm going to do to you if you don't fix whatever you did to them!", Theodore threatened, throttling David slightly before Isabella stopped him.
"Theodore, stop!", Isabella urged before he calmed down some and then set him down.
"It seems like Bruce wasn't the only one who had to keep an eye on his temper.", David spoke.
"What do you know about him?", Theodore asked calmly.
"My son is... unique. That's why you can't relate to him. And because he is unique, the world will not tolerate his existence. Will they? But you and your sister—you both try, don't you? Yes. And a very beautiful woman like Betty, her attentions... can't be completely unwanted. Can they? No. Not with eyes like hers, watching expectantly, lovingly. It seems like they're made for each other.", David spoke as he then grabbed Isabella's cloth.
"What are you getting at?", Theodore asked.
"I'm afraid we're both too late to help him. There's nothing I can do for him... or for you. Besides, he's made it clear he wants nothing to do with me. His choice.", David responded.
"You're darn right he doesn't. Now, you listen, and you better listen good. You will stay away from Rebecca, because if I ever see you coming around her ever again, I will tear you limb from limb and cremate your remains with a nuke! Do you understand?", Theodore threatened.
"Succinctly. Now, if you'll excuse me, Mr. Ross, I have some work to do. And don't worry about the dogs. You'll be fine. Just don't look 'em in the eyes. Goodbye.", David spoke as he opened the door for them before closing it as soon as they left.
Meanwhile, Ross was speaking to Bruce as Betty was there next to him.
"He gets released, and a month later, your lab was destroyed. What a coincidence. So, you're not gonna tell me where he is, are ya?", Ross asked.
"How many times do I have to tell you? I'd like to help you, but I just don't know.", Bruce responded.
"You know who I am. Right, Banner?", Ross asked.
"You're Betty's father. You're a high-ranking general.", Bruce spoke.
"Let's cut the crap. I'm the guy who had your father tossed away, and a lot more like him, and I'll do the same to you if I feel so disposed. You understand?", Ross only responded.
"You can't do this.", Betty spoke, starting to feel distressed.
"You stay out of this, Betty. Daddy's talking.", Ross only responded.
"If you had him tossed away, then why are you asking me? I don't remember. I was always told my father was dead.", Bruce responded.
"DON'T PLAY WITH ME! You were four years old when you saw it!", Ross shouted.
"When I saw what?", Bruce puzzled.
"You were right there! How could anyone forget a thing like that? That's probably why my daughter wanted to help you in the first place!", Ross shouted.
"What?", Bruce puzzled.
"Oh, some more repressed memories.", Ross realized.
"Just tell me.", Bruce pleaded.
"I'm sorry, son. You're an even more screwed-up mess than I thought you'd be. Until we get to the bottom of this, your lab has been declared a top-secret military site and you're not gonna get a security clearance to get back into it... or any other lab that's doing anything more interesting than trying to figure out the next generation of herbal hair gel. And, one more thing. If you ever... come within a thousand yards of my daughter again, I'll put you away for the rest of your natural life.", Ross threatened, unknowingly angering her own daughter as she tightened her grip on her glass, cracking it.
"Don't you dare say that!", Betty snapped slightly, breaking said glass with her own hand, taking both Ross, and even Mitchell, aback before Betty saw what she did, much to her disbelief, along with the fact that she didn't even get a single cut from the glass shards and then looked up toward her father.
"I'm sorry that I have to keep you here at lockdown. And frankly, if I could, I would much rather lock you down at your home.", Ross apologized, sympathetic and weary about her lockdown.
"I'm not so sure I'd want that.", Betty only glared.
Later, David was walking outside, carrying cloths from Isabella and Theodore earlier before shouting to the dogs, which apparently have been irradiated with gamma radiation as well, seeing as their shadows indicated that they've become just as monstrous as the giant rat.
"Dogs? Go! Go get them! And let nothing stand in your way! Go!", David shouted, tossing the cloths near the dogs' direction before they took off after them as instructed.
A/N: Uh-oh. It looks like David's making his move by sending his dogs after Isabella and Theodore. I think we all know what that means (or at least those that have watched the 2003 movie).
