After Chara and I moved past the fog, we then arrived in the Waterfall proper and saw that the Monster Kid was there and looked very excitable... and it was just then that I realized that I never learned their name or gender.
"Hello, fellow kid! What's got you all fidgety?" I asked them with a smile.
"Haven't ya heard?! They say Undyne's in the area! She's, like, the most AWESOME Royal Guard Person ever! I'm gonna go try to get her autograph!" they said with enthusiasm, which made Chara smile.
"What's your name? I'm Frisk," I smiled at them. But then something strange happened.
"Well, nice to meet ya, Frisk! My name is -Redacted-," Monster Kid said... and the look of confusion on their face and ours was immediate. Whoever's voice said the word 'Redacted' at the end wasn't Monster Kid... but it came from their mouth. "Huh? What just happened? That's not my name. My name is -Redacted-. UGH! What's going on?" they asked, obviously getting frustrated... and it only made me think about something. Another one of my dreams.
"You know... I actually had a dream about this strange white figure... it looked almost like a torn curtain and it only said 'Redacted'... and it sounded exactly like what came out of your mouth just now..." I frowned, Chara looking at me in confusion.
"Are you saying it might have something to do with the Void? And Gaster?" she asked as I simply shrugged.
"I dunno... I only had the dream one time. All I know is that it was tied to Waterfall in some way... and... MK? If it has to do with finding out your real name, we're going to try and find out," I said, that making the little yellow monster tilt their head.
"MK? Is that a nickname of some kind until we can find out how to have me say it?" they asked, me nodding.
"Yep... mainly because... well... can you draw?" I asked, them smirking and shaking their head no.
"Do you see any hands on me? I don't," they smirked.
"How about we travel together, for now? Until we can find out what this thing is with your name?" Chara asked, MK smirking at that.
"Sounds GREAT! So what's your name?" MK asked Chara.
"Uh... Charlene..." she said with a smile.
"She's actually got two different personas, since she's got two different minds in her. Her one side is very sassy and flippant while the other is very shy," I said, Chara smirking at that as Whimsun spoke.
"She's right..." Whimsun said as we then proceeded forward through the first couple of rooms... until we got into the tall grass below the cliff Undyne was at.
"He usually picks up on the first or second ring... where is he?" Undyne asked... before I heard a phone ring from her. "Hello?... Papyrus! There you are! Where are you? I thought we agreed that we were to meet about the human situation!" Undyne shouted as I simply decided to slowly walk forward through to near the end of the grass along with Chara and MK, since she was distracted. "Ugh... if you want something done right, then you gotta... wait... what'd you say?" Undyne asked as she sounded confused. "W.D. Gaster?... Who is-..." And then she gasped audibly. "I-I REMEMBER NOW! He was the Royal Scientist before Alphys, right?! Two questions and I want them answered now! Where has he been all this time and how come I didn't remember him until this very moment?!" Undyne asked in shock as I simply poked my head up and saw her back was turned. "All clear," I whispered to Chara and MK as we then moved through the grass again and I got out of sight in the next room with Chara while MK stayed around, probably to say hi to Undyne.
"Hi, Undyne! I love you! Can I!... Aw man!" they said in disappointment as Chara and I finished the seed bridge puzzle and the kid then caught up.
"So what went wrong?" Chara asked.
"She didn't hear me and she ran off ahead for some reason. My guess is that she's gonna find a human to beat up! Oh man, I can't wait to see her do that! If I were a human, I'd wet the bed every night thinking about what Undyne would do to me!" MK said with a smile as they bobbed their head side-to-side. I definitely didn't want to do the big reveal about me being a human... yet. I wanted to wait until we could rescue Goner Kid and find out Monster Kid's name. We then did the next bridge seed puzzle and I then got a ring on my phone, it being Papyrus. I could tell from the number being mostly 2s and 7s. And my number was mostly 1s and 0s.
"Hello?" I asked into it with a smile.
"HELLO THERE, FRISK! I WANTED TO ASK YOU A QUESTION... MY FRIEND THINKS THAT SHE SAW YOU. SO DO TELL, ARE YOU AND THE OTHER HUMAN STILL WEARING A STRIPED SHIRT AND A FRILLY DRESS?" Papyrus asked as I simply smiled.
"Yeah, we are," I smiled.
"OKAY! YOU'RE STILL WEARING THOSE SHIRTS AND ARE DEFINITELY NOT GOING TO CHANGE, RIGHT? WINK, WINK! I'LL BE HERE IF YOU EVER NEED HELP WITH ANYTHING!" Papyrus smiled before hanging up the phone... I also then heard a voice from behind me. I recognized it immediately.
"I don't understand... why am I feeling... scared? And anxious?... I-I want to tell them... but I'm afraid... they know everything..." Flowey said... in ASRIEL's voice! I didn't know he could do that! I simply took the stick I had on my person and wrote a message in the dirt, wondering if the flowery prince would be able to see it after we left. What did it say?
"It's okay, you're forgiven." That was what I wrote down as Chara didn't seem to notice it, nor Monster Kid. We then went forward again into the room filled with the glowing rocks as well as a couple more echo flowers. I simply looked through the telescope nearby and went through where the fake wall was, the spunky kid smirking widely at that.
"WOW! That was so cool!" they smiled as we then got to the marsh filled with reeds... and we got jumped by the duo of Woshua and Aaron, them looking at us with a smile.
"Hey there, bud! What's up?" Aaron asked as he then flexed and I answered with my own flex. "Flexing contest? You're on!" he smiled as I then had to avoid his magical sweat while Woshua looked a bit disgusted by our flexing battle... and Chara simply smiled at the washing machine monster.
"Can you possibly wash me or something? I'm uh... kinda feeling a bit oily," Chara said as Woshua then chirped happily.
"Green means clean!~" he sung as he then attacked with some green puffs of soap while I managed to get Aaron to flex himself out of the room... via him creating a sonic boom from his flexing that sent him backwards. And I learned from the previous run that Aaron couldn't stop himself after he did so until he hit a wall. My guess was that he wouldn't be able to stop until he got to the rooms with the darkening lanterns. And after Chara got clean, Woshua then cleaned me off as well as I smiled at him.
"Thanks, mister. What's your name?" I asked.
"Woshua, tweet! And my buff friend is Aaron... now I gotta go and make sure he doesn't get hurt. See ya," Woshua said as he then dove into the marsh and proceeded to swim across the water while our group then got onto the raft and rowed across to the plank bridge, me then staying in place and staring out towards the west.
"Uh... why are you staring over the water?" MK asked in confusion.
"I'm trying to summon a door... one that'll lead to a monster trapped in the Void," I said, MK looking confused before his eyes went wide.
"I... I think I'm remembering something... ugh... my head... some kind of... orange-colored monster... looking a lot like me... wearing a black and brown checkered shirt... who is it?" Monster Kid asked... and then the door appeared, it looking to be leading to a small room that looked awfully similar to where the Redacted monster was... the only difference was that it looked a lot like there was a stable with some... actual cows in it?
"Stay here, I'm going in," I said, MK simply looking at the door in wonder as I spoke to them again. "Whatever you do, MK, don't touch this door. If you do, you might end up stuck in the Void as well," I said, them simply nodding and staying put. I then went inside the door and into the odd-looking stable. And when I did, I then spoke. "Hello? Goner Kid? I'm here to save you... please respond by telling me your name?" I asked... and then, when I thought it couldn't get any weirder, out of nowhere, the torn sheet appeared in front of me... as if it had popped in out of nowhere!
"My... name?" the voice asked, it sounding like a female, yet depressed-sounding...
"Yes, your name? And how come Monster Kid can't say their name and instead says 'Redacted' when they try?" I asked, the sheet then being lifted up from underneath to reveal the blank-eyed face of a Monster Kid lookalike... completely gray and white in color as well as wearing a checkered shirt.
"Haha... my name is Goner Kid... though that's what I'm called in this realm... the Void... in reality, I'm a version of your friend MK... from a different reality," the gray kid said as I was surprised.
"An alternate version? From a different reality?" I asked.
"Yeah... one where humans and monsters... live happily and peacefully, without issue... most of your monster friends have jobs and lives there... Toriel is a school principal, Alphys is a science teacher, Undyne a cop, and Sans?... Just a normal guy... but I can't ever go back... not after I opened that door," the little kid said, me then asking them an important question.
"Well, your presence in the Void is preventing me from knowing Monster Kid's name... so how can I both learn his name and get you out of here?" I asked.
"Monster Kid is female, not male... just like me... just absorb my soul like those prior... and when I am back in your world, I'll reform as my own self... but make something up about me, okay?... Also, her name is Barbie... as for me? Just call me Thorn... that is my name," she said as I then asked one more question.
"And what about the sheet?" I asked.
"The sheet is unimportant... it just hides my appearance... I can only be seen when at the docks... any other time, the sheet needs to be on me so I can talk.." she said as I then absorbed her into my body and then walked out of the door, me arriving at the docks and then letting her out, me then sighing in relief at how the door vanished the moment that I let Thorn out of me and she got her color back.
"Whoa... that was so cool!" Barbie smiled widely.
"Yeah, I bet it was... Barbie," I said, that making the kid gawk.
"Y-You found out my name! Yes! My name's Barbie!... Oh my gosh, I can say it without being creepily censored! Hooray!" Barbie cheered happily... but that only resulted in a certain yellow glow appearing from the nearby ruins.
"Um... we gotta get going... just about now!" Chara gulped as she and I held onto Barbie and Thorn and ran down the path, us gawking at how Undyne decided to not throw spears, but instead chase after us down the path while speaking.
"HEY! Let go of those innocent children! I order it!" Undyne shouted as I looked at Chara and knew we had to comply. We then simply stopped in place and let the kids down as Undyne looked at them as Chara and I stood our ground.
"What's the deal, Undyne? Why were you chasing me and my friends?" Barbie asked her.
"Friends?! They're humans! You can't be friends with humans! They're the enemies of all of our hopes and dreams!" Undyne shouted as Thorn then spoke.
"Hey, they saved my life, fish face! If not for them, I'd still be trapped in the same place Gaster was at! So CORK IT!" Thorn shouted, which shocked... pretty much all of us!
"D-Did she just mouth off to Undyne?" Whimsun asked.
"I uh... think she did..." I said with a gulp. And Undyne simply left us after that, me wondering what she would do now.
"Whoa... you actually managed to make Undyne run away?... Who are you? And why do you look so much like me?" Barbie asked the lookalike monster, which I saw was just as Barbie described. An orange body with a black-and-brown checkered shirt... but Thorn was also wearing a small skirt of pink for some reason.
"I'm Thorn... I was trapped behind that door, unable to escape... just watching helplessly at the state of the world... Frisk, this human here, made a promise to save all the monsters down here... and that included monsters that don't exist, like me," Thorn said as Barbie looked at her in confusion as we got to the area with the crystallized cheese.
"Don't exist? What does that mean? Obviously you exist now, right?" Barbie asked.
"It's a bit difficult to explain... but if a monster dies in a way that is unnatural to how they normally would die, they're sent to the Void, a realm that forces the outside world to forget you ever existed... I'm a version of you from an alternate reality... one where humans and monsters coexist in near-perfect harmony... this world is not like my own, as humans are terrified of monsters in this realm, due to their ability to absorb human souls," Thorn said before Chara spoke.
"And that's why I hate being a human... I'd rather consider myself as a monster than be lumped in with those horrid apes that killed all those monsters just because of petty fear... at least I'm not fully human right now, but that explanation can wait until later, Barbie... I can't believe that you're named after a girly doll from the surface," Chara frowned.
"Wait... there's a toy that's called a Barbie doll? What do they look like?" Barbie asked as I then explained it.
"It's a human-shaped doll that's usually about 7 or 8 inches tall... and it looks like an extremely skinny, yet busty teenage girl. One you can dress in various outfits," I said, Barbie looking confused.
"I... don't really get what it is, but it sounds kinda fun!" she smirked widely.
"And, fun fact, now I know you're a girl, thanks to Thorn telling me your name... now let's go on before Undyne-" I was about to say... before we then came across a sight that I was stupefied at... another door that led to the Void. "... Or not... Um... I do not know, but I think this door might lead to danger..." I admitted, since it looked nothing like the normal doors to the Void that I was used to seeing. It looked much larger, even to the point where some of it was above us, it was styled very fancy-like, and it had a picture of a lock on it.
"Freedom, freedom! Humans, won't you come in and play, play with me?" asked a voice that... confused me. It sounded like it was a jester of some kind, but very distorted.
"Uh... Cher? You think there might be a monster in there that Gaster hasn't mentioned yet?" I asked her.
"I think so... what could he be?" she asked before none other than Sans came from the right.
"you won't be safe going in there alone, kids... there's a monster on the other side that not only exists in the void, but has full knowledge of everything inside of it and outside... but he's got a nasty vendetta against humans and my pops, but why i don't know..." Sans said before looking at the two kids. "you two should probably go on ahead... me and the humans will try to free this guy peacefully and without getting killed."
"Uh, okay?... Try not to get beat up, guys! That monster sounds like trouble," Barbie said as she and Thorn then went on ahead and we then looked at the door with seriousness.
"Okay... I'm scared, but I'm ready," Whimsun said as Sans then opened the door and we entered... and we were about to have one of the weirdest times of our lives. Why? Because the entire place looked like one of the most confusing rooms ever, it looking like it was a large and endless expanse of blue in the shape of an hourglass and constantly changing... and in front of us was what looked like one of the weirdest, yet by far most unsettling monsters.
"Ah, finally! Friends, friends! You've decided to be free to play with me!" the creature said with a giggle, me knowing he wasn't one to trust, thanks to Sans.
"Um... actually, I wanted to help you become even more free... by leaving this place and going to my world? Which isn't able to be Reset anymore?" I said, that making the monster laugh uncontrollably... and in terms of appearance, he looked to have a face that looked like a mask, was in a jester's outfit of purple and yellow, and he had horns and a devil tail on him that was in the shape of a spade at the end.
"Free? Your world?! Don't try to steal my thunder, Fallen Child! You think I don't know everything about your world? One day you're a homicidal maniac, the next day, you're the nicest guy around! But I'm different! I'm forever!" the jester laughed as he then looked at me with a weird smile. "And now that you're here, I can finally eradicate my three greatest foes!" he smirked as Sans simply smirked.
"and who would those happen to be... Jevil?" Sans asked, him doing his creepy voice when saying his name.
"Simple, Simple! The idiot with the stupid soul, the idiot with the stupid face, and the idiot who thinks his jokes are funnier than mine! Well, sorry to say..." Jevil said before he then sent a large scythe at me that I barely had time to dodge out of the way of and I felt my hair raise on my skin. "But I'm a shark when it comes to the game of battle! And I'm not gonna leave this place unless you can win, win!"
"Hmph. You should know, Jevil, we're sharks too... especially me and the comic," Chara said as she then did something that I was shocked by. She conjured a blood-red knife out of thin-air and I could sense nothing but overwhelming power coming from it!
"UEEHEEHEE! From shark to shark, I wouldn't have it any other way!" Jevil snickered as I then realized that, even though I didn't want to, I had to fight in order to beat this guy.
"Listen, Jevil. You're not free in this world anymore. I've gotta let you see that the hard way... and nothing's harder on a skeleton than a femur," Sans smirked as he then sent a flurry of bones at Jevil and I was shocked at how he managed to dodge almost all of them... but he did get hit by something that I was scared of since Papyrus used them against me. The Gaster Blasters. And Jevil gasped when he got hit by those.
"Oof! You don't play fair, friend! Gotta catch my second wind..." Jevil said as he then started to pant and wheeze before then hitting us with a ton of strange ducks on a carousel-styled attack... but then Chara went in to attack with her weapon and I was shocked at how Jevil not only deflected it, but attacked Chara so that she and Whimsun got badly hurt!
"Chara!" I shouted in worry as I rushed to her and she simply groaned.
"Fuck... that guy's tough..." Chara groaned before Whimsun spoke.
"I don't want to play anymore... it's painful..." Whimsun gulped as Jevil then simply started to dance around. Was he really this joyful when seeing people get hurt?
"You should've known that you can't beat the Joker Card!" Jevil smirked as he then changed himself into a gigantic scythe and then sent it towards all three of us! I braced for impact, expecting that my death would soon follow...
"HALT!" said the voice of Gaster as I then was shocked at how he managed to grab onto the giant scythe with telekinesis and then bombard it with wingding messages until Jevil was sent to the ground! I had seriously underestimated the strength that Doctor W.D. had!
"Rgh... you again..." Jevil groaned at the doctor as Gaster then simply frowned at him.
"Likewise To You As Well, Joker..." Gaster said with a frown as the other monsters that made up his underside then started to move about. "You Should Know The Ones I Have In My Body, Right, Jevil?" After he said that, Jevil growled as he got off the ground and floated again.
"How could I not, not? Queen Clover and the Jack Diamond! The only members of the royal family I cared for so much! Why do you hate, hate me so much to have done this to them?" Jevil asked in anger as Gaster simply frowned.
"It's Not Like I Planned For It To Happen. The Moment I Was Lost To The Void, Those Doors Appeared Between Our Worlds. And After The Queen And The Jack Went Through The Door, They Amalgamated With My Being... I Want Them Free Just As Much As You, But It Cannot Be Done," Gaster said before I then saw Jevil perk up. What was he planning?
"Ueeheehee~! Do you not remember, good doctor? I CAN DO ANYTHING!" Jevil said joyfully before then sending some kind of magic blast at Gaster... I was shocked at this as was Sans and Chara, me giving her a bit of food I'd saved from Grillby's in the form of my hamburger. She then ate it and sighed when she got back to normal... but that also meant that I missed out on seeing something awesome happen. Because when I turned around, I was shocked to see that Gaster... was now a completely normal skeleton! And that there were two other people among us now... and they looked very odd.
"Oh my word! I-Is this a dream?" asked the woman of the duo, her being a big woman in terms of height with a head in the shape of a 4-leaf clover, green hair, and an outfit that was basically a white sweater and poodle skirt with green 4-leaf clovers all over them.
"I don't think so, my queen... I think... Jevil... thank you!" the other guy said, him looking to be a prince of some kind of royal lookalike of the diamond-headed cool dudes from Hotland, only he has actual eyes on him that were on the top and bottom of his head with his mouth in the center... very weird, but I was in a weird world.
"Um... hate to break up the happy reunion, but... I think it'd be best if we exit that door right there? So we can all exist again?" I asked, the others nodding at that.
"Even though this world is free, I am quite happy to be in a world where Queen Clover and Jack Diamond reside. Fine, I'll join you!" Jevil smirked as I then gave him a look.
"Only if you apologize to myself, Chara, Whimsun, and Sans. You were kind of a big jerk to us, after all," I said, him frowning at that.
"Fine, fine. I'm sorry for attacking you for funsies," he pouted as I then nodded and we then exited the door, me sighing in relief at how all of us were able to exit on our own with no problem... and when all of us were through, Jevil then conjured some kind of lock and placed it onto the door. He then separated a special key into three different parts and then... shrunk them down to the point we couldn't see them anymore!
"Um... Jevil?" I asked, getting his attention. "If you were able to get these two out of Gaster... I have a bit of a favor to ask of you," I said, him smirking at that.
"Yes, what can I assist you with, Fallen Child?" he asked with a smirk.
"Do you think it'd be possible if you could go to a certain basement laboratory in Hotland? There are a bunch of monsters down there who are like Gaster was... I want to know if you can save them," I said, knowing for a fact that this room we were in currently had no cameras for Alphys to listen in on us.
"With me, anything is possible! I CAN DO ANYTHING!" Jevil smirked as he then teleported away and Chara looked at me with a smile.
"You do know that Alphys usually goes into the basement before you meet her in person, right?" she asked, me smiling at that.
"I know, and that's the entire point. I want her to know that this time, everything will change. And for the better," I said, her smirking at that as Sans did the same.
"i still hate that he thinks i'm trying to be funnier than him, but he does get things done. unlike me," Sans smiled. "i'm gonna go ahead and get back to work now. you guys stick together... on second thought, try not to," he said, me groaning at that one as it was in very poor taste... but the queen laughed at it like it was the best joke she ever heard.
"Wow... you have a very low bar for humor, Queen Clover," Whimsun frowned.
"Please, call me Clover. I'm not really queen in a world I know nothing about," she smirked at Chara.
"And just call me Jack. It's what I am and it's my name," the Jack of Diamonds smiled.
"Got it... want to join our ragtag team? We're hoping to get to a certain couple of areas before nighttime," I said, Clover smiling at that.
"But of course! We owe you our existence, after all! If you hadn't have befriended Doctor Gaster, we'd never have been able to have been freed by Jevil," Clover smirked widely. We then proceeded to walk again. And now we had a group of 4 to work with, since Gaster had already vanished again, most likely to hang out with Papyrus.
