Day #8: Princess and Knight AU
Do you know the stories of the knight that protects his princess, and they end up falling in love and with a 'happily ever after'? Well, Chat Noir wasn't that lucky.
Chat was one of the fiercest knights of the kingdom: A strong soldier, excellent leader, and trusty right-hand man to the king. But now, he's stuck with his daughter just because the little girl doesn't know how to behave and not try to escape.
And also maybe because the neighbor kingdom may have tried to kidnap her more than once. However, that wasn't important for him, since that little girl was keeping him away from the life he was so happy about. On top of that, that princess was obnoxious as hell! He couldn't even stand sharing more than two words towards her.
"Kitty kitty!" Speaking of the devil. Marinette was sitting at the big dining table eating lunch while he was standing next to her. Protecting her and stuff like that. And he would have loved to keep it that way, but no. She always had to open her mouth.
"What?" He said shortly, without even looking at her.
"Oh my, that's not the way to talk to a princess." She mocked at him, and Chat just had to restrain himself from rolling his eyes."Don't you want to eat with me? You seem hungry."
Why was she trying to be nice? Probably another trick to get him to drop his defenses so she could run out. And he would not fall again for that shit. Once had been enough for him.
"I'm not."
"I don't believe you. The cat shouldn't be eating all alone, come on and make me some company while we have a little chit-chat." She continued trying.
"I won't, princess." He didn't dare to look at her yet, but he did hear her sigh resigned.
"You know… I have all this big table, all this amount of food, all by myself. It may just seem like a dream, but it's actually very lonely." Her voice was like a murmur, low and sad. Chat Noir didn't resist looking at her, the girl was looking directly at him. He knew that puppy eyes look, he wouldn't just fall for it so easily. "I know we aren't exactly best friends. However, it's been almost two months since you were assigned to take care of this clumsy princess. At least we should get along."
Don't fall for it. Don't fall for it. Just think about the Ladybug girl you haven't seen in two months.
"That's a sudden change of heart, isn't it? Haven't you just last week tried to put me to sleep while offering me that tea?" He remembered it, the news of that magician pulling his tricks to control some random citizen again just flooded up in the castle. Some minutes after and the princess just offered him a tea which took some random guard to Morpheus's arms
The girl probably just wanted to see some action. And he could have been there to protect civilians if it wasn't for this ridicule task. Maybe he could have also seen again the magical ladybug hero who no one knows where it comes from, the one he hasn't heard a word about another of her appearances after he was put in charge to babysit the princess.
"I know I might have overreacted that day, but I had my reasons." She answered, still maintaining a calm tone.
"What reasons?"
"I wish I could tell you, Chat." She looked away, and sincerity slipped from her voice. He recognized that tone. The one that captivated him during their firsts days of knowing each other.
Another memory came back to him.
Do you know the stories of the knight that protects his princess, and they end up falling in love and with a 'happily ever after'? Well, Chat Noir wasn't that lucky. Because even if he may have been attracted to her, she just used him. Marinette just charmed him with his playfulness and confidence, only to kiss him and distract him enough time so she could escape. Chat didn't let her go too far, but it was as far as to make him realize her scam.
He wouldn't trip over the same stone twice.
"Just eat, princess."The knight said, looking away from her again.
"Chaton..." What just made her so sentimental in this lunch? Was this another trick she was trying to pull out on him?
"You won't succeed twice, Marinette." He responded harshly, expecting that those words would make her stop.
Silence. Chat did get the quietness he was asking for, building a guilty and disappointed sentiment tho.
"I'm sorry Chat." He looked the regret in her eyes. And his caught a little bright of compassion.
"... Did any of that night was true?" He asked. She opened her eyes in surprise, he wasn't able to maintain the gaze and looked away.
"Every feeling, I did mean them. I meant it too when I kissed you. I also meant it when I said you deserve freedom, even if you think you too have debts to pay." She sincerely said, he let out the breath he hadn't noticed was containing.
"However?"
"However, I have a bigger duty. And I panicked, I thought you would be better not getting involved with something as dangerous as that, and then I heard about the Aku— I mean, the magical attack which made me react without thinking." She made a little pause to reorder her words. "Then you didn't want to know anything about me —Not that it's wrong, you were totally on your right— So, I figured it had been for the best to keep you in the dark and let you hate me. Nonetheless, I don't want that."
With the last declaration, a little redness got over both of them. Chaton thought about her words, appreciated the sincerity, and felt the resentment starting to melt away.
She really was some interesting princess, wasn't she?
"Don't ever take that type of decision for me, I don't care if you're the princess." He answered while taking a seat beside her.
"Chat!" She said excited by seeing him there.
"I still don't like you. Do not flatter yourself." He took a plate and starting serving himself some food, avoiding her eyes.
"I'll take it," She said with confidence.
"And I still won't let you out." He said with a mischievous grin.
"But— Kitty!"
Maybe being stuck with this troublesome princess wouldn't be so bad.
