Chapter 8: 2 Months later and a Flashback
Percy tried not to laugh as he saw Shoyo get hit in the face once again in volleyball practice. Asahi was once again bowing and apologizing as he watched the red head rub his face and scrunch his nose. Asahi sure had a mean spike, and Percy was trying to get used to indoor volleyball, it was quite different then outdoors.
"You okay Sho?" Percy asked and held out a hand for the shorter teen.
Taking the hand Shoyo remembered when the first time he saw Percy out for a morning run to school.
*Flashback*
Also, on his way home at the nearby park to his place he had seen Percy practicing moves that looked SUPER cool and AWESOME! Getting off his bike and running to the taller teen who paused in his movements to face him.
"Hinata-Kun," Percy greeted.
"Call me Shoyo!" The red head grinned brightly, and Percy felt himself calm down a bit. This ball of sunshine, like literally, he had messy reddy-orange hair, a bright white smile and was always cheerful, always willing to learn new things, and that was probably why he was in front of him.
"Will do, now what's up!?" Percy asked and took a sip of the cold water and dumping the rest on him. This bottle was connected to a waterfall, that was always fresh and would always refill with cold water. It had been a gift from Hephaestus before he had left. The god had also thanked him for helping with Olympus' problems, and he was sad that his favourite demigod was leaving.
"I want to be strong, on the court and off the court," Shoyo said. "I was bullied a bit for being so short, pushed around, I don't want to be weak, and you looked super cool doing those moves, and with that wooden stick," Shoyo pointed to his eyes what was a wooden sword.
Hmmpp, each mortal see's it as something different, thanks to the mist. Some people think it's a bat. Percy thought.
"SO please teach me your fighting skills and what exercises I have to do to get more into shape! I want to be the ace once Asahi-San leaves, and for that I have to be strong!" Shoyo bowed and it made Percy's eyes widen.
Why was he bowing!? He thought, eyes frantically looking at the bowed boy.
"Get up," Percy said. "Why are you bowing?"
Shoyo stood and when he saw Percy's face, he was a tiny bit sad.
"Alright, come on, I'm doing a warm down because I have ADHD and my body is really jittery and I have a lot of energy, so I'm, doing a warriors calming dance." Percy said.
Percy swore he saw little stars emit from the orange head, smiling, he showed Shoyo the moves he had taught himself.
So, each day after extra practice with Kageyama, Percy, Shoyo and sometimes Yamaguchi after they were done, Percy and Shoyo went to the park and did dances, dances that could be used in combat, and sometimes when Shoyo was angry at Kageyama, because he didn't want to toss to someone who didn't close his eyes to spike, Shoyo wanted to be strong enough to toss any toss that Kageyama might toss. He wanted to be his own weapon, make a name for himself. Slowly day by day, with a good diet, stretching, dancing, different kinds of fighting styles, from American wrestling, karate, and a few others he could remember. Each day was another learning experience for him and Shoyo was always relaxed after the dancing, some people had even put money down, into a cap, and even though Shoyo fumbled Percy never got mad, just told him what he did wrong and corrected it and helped him. Percy also never seemed annoyed like some people thought, Hinata Shoyo was at times, and yes, he could be purposefully annoying, but he didn't try to be! He was just a ball of endless energy, stamina, and thoughts.
Percy had turned to face his new friend and touched his shoulder before Shoyo could bike away. "I can set too," he said green eyes filled with kindness and fondness. "I can set for you when Kageyama doesn't want too, I am pretty well known in the Beach Volleyball world, and I know all the positions, in beach theirs only two players and you need to trust each other," he smiled and put his headphones on and called out his good-bye and turned to go home.
*End flash back*
"Shoyo Hinata?" a hand was softly combing through his hair. "Maybe he has a concussion, lets move him to the bleachers and he can rest, he looks a bit out of it." Percy said, Kageyama went to Hinata's other side and helped the son of the sea god to bring the shorter boy to the bleachers. Blinking repeatedly with a tiny bit of dizziness Shoyo accepts the water.
"I'm okay guys, honestly, teeny bit dizzy but it will go away," Shoyo smiled and shoed them off to finish practice.
