The sun edged on the horizon, overflowing the evening with hues of flaming red and azure-blue. The feeble light filtered through the darkened trees, illuminating the path ahead like a jigsaw puzzle. There was a warm, almost fiery scent in the air. Must be the aroma of the sun, Eve thought as she lowered to the ground.

Ryan rested inside the backpack, staring into the distance as his eyes struggled to stay open. Man, he looked tired... Eve smiled as a deep yawn escaped his throat.

It had been 5 hours since Mew abruptly left. In a way, Eve was happy that the 'stalker' was gone, yet she felt a little bit more exposed knowing that the extra protection she previously had, was now gone.

But, now that she knew that Rose was here, nothing was going to stop her from finding her little sister.

Her mouth opened in a soft yawn. Though she was exhausted, Eve had no intention of going to sleep yet. While stumbling forward, her mind wandered towards the strange dream she had of the deep disembodied voice. That is, if it was just a simple dream? Eve had this strange feeling that there was more to it than just that. There was something about the strange voice that seemed... Familiar... A bit too familiar to just be a coincidence. Like she heard the voice before... But where?

She shook her head. No Eve, stop thinking about weird dreams, focus on where you're heading next. "Hey Ryan, Kirlia." She called out.

Ryan slowly lifted his head in acknowledgement while Kirlia looked up in a daze.

"So, what do you guys think we should do next? Go to Celadon City, or go to Cerulean City?"

"Celadon! I vote for Celadon!" Ryan immediately yelled as he jumped upright. His tiredness suddenly seeming nothing more than a small moment of weakness. Eve however, knew that he was only thinking about Celadon's ice cream.

Kirlia thought about her answer a bit longer. Smiling as she whispered softly. "Uhm... Well, if you don't mind, I would like to visit Cerulean first. But, you know, if you don't want to..."

"Cerulean it is." Eve interrupted.

Ryan looked up, his wide eyes screaming 'but what about the ice cream?' on all sides. Eve exhaled while shaking her head. Of course, this pikachu only thinks about ice cream. What a lost cause. "We can go to Celadon later Ryan. Cerulean is closer anyway, so why not go there first?"

Ryan mumbled something unrecognizable before sinking deep into the backpack. Puffing and sparking his chubby cheeks in protest.

Eve quickly scanned her surroundings. There had to be somewhere they could spend the night. Ryan was practically sleeping inside her bag and Kirlia was looking more exhausted by the second.

Unfortunately, they were heading in the opposite direction from the mountains, so a cave for shelter was no longer a possibility.

Her eyes turned towards the cold, muddy, water-soaked soil. Crisp leaves and blades of grass peeking through the earthy prison. Slippery and soggy as her feet sank into the moisture, leaving prints behind like a personal signature.

She cringed, no way that she would sleep out on the ground and in the open like this. There had to be another way! Eve groaned as she longingly thought back towards the Pokémon Center. A delicious meal, the warm, comfortable and soft bed and the safety of a roof...

Eve stopped in her tracks, her eyes burning with determination. "Okay, that's it! Ryan, Kirlia, I'm going to train how to transform into a human." She said loudly, her tone filled with a hint of pride.

Ryan twitched his ear. "Human? Why do you want to shift into a human of all things? Aren't pikachus way better?" He mumbled with a wide grin.

Eve sheepishly rubbed the back of her head. Of course, she wanted to tell them that she used to be human... But something in the back of her head was screaming not to. What would they think if I told them? Ryan obviously isn't a fan of humans and Kirlia... She was kidnapped by a smuggler... A 'human' smuggler.

"Well, you know... It's nice to be able to walk around without having to worry about some trainer trying to catch you... And then, I can just walk into a Pokémon Center without wearing a ridiculous disguise, like last time." She answered quickly.

Ryan looked up. "Mm, when you say it like that... It's not a bad idea. You might be on to something kid."

"Great! Than let's get started!" Eve yelled while clapping her paws together. She couldn't wait to get started. Human body, warm bed, here I come!

She jolted awake from her daydream as Kirlia tapped against the side of her leg. "I, uh... It's getting late. Maybe we should rest first?" She muttered softly. Her teary ruby eyes fluttering with exhaustion.

Eve stared down at Kirlia, who was obviously tired and just wanted to get some sleep. They had been walking for 5 hours... And how could she say no to those sparkling eyes. "Okay, then let's begin training first thing in the morning."

After searching for what felt like hours, they found a more decent place to sleep in a small shallow field of grass. From above, the ceiling of fern leaves broke open, revealing the deep oxford sky.

In an effort to make something that even remotely functions like a bed, Eve gathered up a pile of pickle-green leaves the size of a paper coffee cup. With a loud sigh, she let herself fall on the leaves and curled into a ball.

As the sun disappeared underneath the horizon, a veil of darkness covered the forest.

Ryan and Kirlia had no trouble sleeping on grass, but Eve felt like something would crawl on her at any moment. Who knows what lives in these woods? Every time a small blade of grass tickled against her fur, she flinched. Between the soggy grass and the cold, stone and uneven cave ground... She preferred the cave...

Groaning in irritation, Eve looked up. Time seemed to slow down as she gasped in awe. Thousands of glittering stars twinkled across the boundless sea of midnight-black. From big to small, bright to faint, the sky was sprinkled in tiny shards of broken rainbow.

Undisturbed by earth's city lights, the clear starry night looked even more vibrant than any other. It reminded Eve of those digital galaxy wallpapers back home. It almost didn't look real... It was the most breathtaking sight she had ever seen. Up until now, Eve never bothered to look at the night sky, now she wondered why? It was so beautiful!

After admiring the sky for what felt like hours, Eve couldn't resist the urge to sleep anymore. She slowly closed her eyes while listening to her surroundings.

The soft wind rustling through the grass, leaves shivering, Kirlia's slow breathing... Ryan's obnoxious snoring... Damn, that pikachu is loud!

Slowly but surely, all sounds gradually faded away...

Eve opened her eyes as the sensation of warm air brushed against her face. She was drifting along the wind, flying without a care in the world. Enjoying the sweet feeling of freedom...

Fluffy white clouds and cobalt mountains painted the cerulean sky. Countless emerald trees of pine and oak edged around a magnificent lake. Fields of scarlet poppies and amethyst salvia's peeked through. It was a wonderful sight to behold.

Eve let her paw sink into the cold mirror surface, staring into her own vivid eyes as the frozen water slowly flowed passed her fur.

The sky-colored gold and the sun spread its wings of heat. She let the warm rays wash over her, enjoying the surreal moment.

That's when Eve noticed someone on the other side. Standing in the tall mellow grass was a young girl. Wind flowing through her loose curls of pastel hair and frilly white dress. Her kind eyes of deep blue betrayed by a hint of sadness. In her hands she held a pink DS...

"Rose?" Eve mumbled as the world around began to distort. Swirling like a smudged-up painting, the colors mixt together.

For a split second, the whimsical scene shifted, as Rose's soulless eyes stared up, slowly sinking into a sea of scarlet...

Eve gasped and her eyes shot wide open. Her quivering body soaked in sweat. She took a slow, deep breath, before pinching the bridge of her nose. These nightmares were getting a bit out of hand. Every time she closed her eyes, the scene replayed in her mind like a cursed video tape. But then again, with all that happened that day, it would surprise her if she didn't have nightmares. After all, she did die...

The sun peeked through the trees, the forest slowly awakening from its slumber. Pidgeys chirped their morning songs as an earthy aroma drifted through the air.

Eve let out a long yawn, stretching her back like a cat before slowly lifting from her 'bed' as large leaves sticked to her side. It was a bit warmer than yesterday, maybe the water isn't so bad anymore, Eve thought as she flew towards a small puddle of clean water, just deep enough to fully engulf her. I... Should take a morning shower...

Without thinking she let herself fall in. The cold shock instantly made her muffled mind clear as day. Yep, the water was freezing. It created goosebumps all over her arms.

"Iii!" Eve squeaked before quickly crawling out of the water, shaking her fur in an effort to dry. That was not a good idea! It was way colder than she had anticipated.

Oh right! Eve thought as her cheeks curled into a smile. It's time for training!

She turned towards Ryan and Kirlia, who were still sleeping peacefully. She took a deep breath, before screaming at the top of her longs. "TIME TO WAKE UP!!!!!!"

Kirlia jumped upright with a loud scream, looking back at forth as her chest puffed in a panic. Ryan on the other hand, continued to sleep like nothing happened.

Eve twitched her ear as she glared towards the snoring pikachu... Slowly her lips curled into a wide evil grin. She knew the perfect way to wake this sleeping beauty and at the same time do some training.

She flew towards the clear puddle and closed her eyes. Using psychic, the water slowly began to quiver before gradually forming into a clunky ball.

Ryan mumbled in his sleep, enjoying a wonderful dream. Suddenly something ice cold and wet dropped over his body, shivering through him like a jolt of electricity. "@&%#!!!!" He screamed unintelligibly while jumping to his feet. His normally fluffy fur was soaking wet. He looked like a drowned cat.

Eve was floating a few meters above him, faking an expression like she was just as surprised as him. With a large cat smug, she stared down at the small water soaked pokémon.

Ryan burned red as he exploded. "KID!!!"

Eve covered her mouth as she laughed like a high-class lady. "Oh, what happened Ryan?" She said tauntingly.

Kirlia burst out into laughter while Ryan narrowed his eyes. "Oh... I'm going to remember this kid. I can see you have your MOTHERS sense of humor. Of course, no offense to lady Mew..."

Eve grinned. "Ah, come on Ryan. Where is your sense of humor?"

"Washed away with the water." He hissed back.

"I was just having some fun. Still up for training? Come on, let's do this!" Eve yelled while she lifted from the ground, launching herself forward with a wide grin.

As Ryan focused on his aim for thunderbolt, Kirlia sat under a small maple tree in deep meditation. Eve prepared herself to shift into a human, though this was easier said than done.

Like with her pikachu transformation, she closed her eyes, picturing herself slowly turning human. Her arms, legs, long chocolate hair, natural blue eyes, down to her favorite outfit... Remembering her former self like this, tears welled up inside. Memories of her horrific death kept popping up.

Every time it felt like she was almost there, only for it to slip away... So close, yet so far... She had lived in her human body for 13 years. So, why was it so difficult to recall her own features?

Eve took a deep breath, squeezing her eyes closed as she bit her lip. Details Eve, think about the details! She thought.

My small nose, long eyelashes, that tiny scar on my left hand and the moll on my neck...

Eve felt something tingle under her skin. Human, human, human, human... She kept chanting in her head, like it would make any difference.

Both Ryan and Kirlia looked up as a blinding white light engulfed Eve's body. The glowing silhouette slowly shifted into a more slender form before gradually fading away. They gasped upon seeing what their friend looked like.

As Eve looked down, she couldn't help but tear up. Her heart fluttered from joy. She did it! It worked! It worked!! She had human arms... Human legs... And most of all, no tail! Warm tears slowly trickled down her human chin as she hugged herself.

Mirror! Eve thought before quickly running towards the clear puddle. Her face looked just like she remembered in all its human glory. The only strange difference, being that her hair was still lavender in color and her eyes remained unnaturally blue. But Eve didn't care. She looked human again, that was all that mattered.

She glanced down towards her outfit, which was the same as the one she wore the day she died. She wasn't sure how to feel about this. The traumatic experience must have influenced her transformation in some way.

Eve took a deep breath before turning towards her friends, making a pirouette as she said. "So, do I look human, or do I look human?"

Ryan started clapping. If it wasn't for the fact that he witnessed the transformation, he might have actually thought she was a normal human. The kid really pulled it off. "I have to say kid, I'm impressed. I did not expect you to actually shift into a human and in such a short time too. Lady Mew was right, you are a natural!"

Kirlia's eyes sparkled with admiration. "That's so cool Eve!"

Eve took her time to bask in the glory. Holding her chin high as a massive grin appeared across her face. "Thank you." She bragged. "Now we can safely walk among humans. Well, for 10 minutes at least. Longer than that is going to be difficult."

Ones again, a bright light engulfed Eve and she shifted back to her true form. "Let's go! Cerulean City, here we come!" She happily yelled while skipping forward.

Ryan jumped on her shoulder. "Wow kid, you sure are in a good mood today. What happened to that cranky kid who got mad over the smallest things?"

Eve warped the electric mouse a nasty glare.

"Oh, there she is!" Pikachu joked.

"Hey." Eve mumbled and her face flushed red. Ryan couldn't keep it in anymore as he almost rolled from her shoulder while laughing.

Kirlia walked over and tapped Eve on the leg. "Don't worry Eve, Ryan is just teasing you."

Eve stopped protesting and looked towards Kirlia. Her lips curled into a soft smile when she realized that Kirlia wasn't stuttering around them as much anymore. It sure took a while, but Kirlia is finally feeling comfortable around them. "Hey Kirlia." Eve asked. "How would you like to have a given name?"

It took a while for the question to sink in, but when it did, Kirlia turned more red than a ripe tomato in summer and desperately tried to cover her face. "W... Wh... What!!!... I... I... You..." She stuttered out if control before peeking through her tiny paws with glistering eyes. "D... Do you mean it? I mean, a given name is... You know... Do you really think that I deserve one?"

"Yes, I think you deserve one."

"I... I..." Kirlia paused for a second before continuing softly. "I would love to."

Eve stared at Kirlia in deep thought. What would be a good name? Something that rimes maybe? Kirlia... Kirli... Kira... Mira... Nina?... That actually sounds pretty good."What do you think about Nina?"

Kirlia looked up as her eyes sparkled up with joy. "It's beautiful! I love it." She said with a smile.

[abandoned building just outside Viridian.]

Gravel-gray pillows of clouds swirled across the darkened sky as cold tears trickled against the old window frames. They gradually came to a rest at the edge of broken glass, before dripping down in an ominous beat.

Violent winds whistled through the cracks like screaming demons as the sky slit open in a blinding light. The sickening humid stench of rotten wood stained the air.

Two man and two women patiently waited inside. All wearing the same familiar black uniform. The scarlet R printed proudly on their chests.

They were elite members of Team Rocket. Handpicked for the assignment by Giovanni himself. They were waiting for the man in charge of the mission to arrive. A man surrounded by rumors, a man most knew almost nothing about, except for his amazing and almost frightening accomplishments.

Another streak of light ripped the sky as the front door creaked open, releasing a massive elongated shadow that stretched all the way across the room. The man they waited for, had arrived...

A dark hooded figure silently past through the door, his eyes and face obscured by the darkness like a living incarnation of the Grimm reaper himself.

Mary, a woman at the age of 18 and youngest member of the team, approached her superior. Bangs of ash-blond fell past her pale freckled face, partly covering her dark hazel eyes.

She was a technology and hacker specialist. One of the best in her area of expertise.

"Sir!" She greeted the man respectfully.

The figure slightly nodded, showing that he acknowledged her presence. He waited for a moment before removing his fedora hat, revealing a man in his early 40se with slick raven-black hair and pitch-black eyes.

He was known by both colleges and enemies alike as 'Mister Blight'. Nobody knew his real name or background, with the exception of Giovanni and Mister Blight himself.

The man turned to face his subordinates, pulling out a large photograph before showing it around. The photo displayed a creature that looked like a pokémon they had only ever heard off, but never seen. Feline in nature, lavender fur, blue eyes...

Mister Blight spoke up. "Our objective is to locate a specific pokémon for Giovanni. It—."

"Ha, that's all? this job is going to be easy." A woman by the name of Victoria interrupted. She was one of two dark type specialists on the team. Tall stature, short navy-blue hair, the confidence gleaming across her sharp golden eyes showing that she was no stranger to these kinds of missions... And one with a known attitude.

The other two members glared towards Victoria in irritation. They obviously didn't approve of the way she acted.

On the left stood Richard, a man in his late 20se. Spiked coffee-brown hair, rather dull stone-gray eyes and mostly recognized by the large scar on his left cheek. He was a professional pokémon tracker. A few years back he even worked as an undercover agent in a well-respected Ranger university.

On the right stood Damian, the eldest member of the team. Ebony-gray hair, umber eyes that were plagued by dark circles, like he suffered from severe insomnia. His roots with Team Rocket lay deep, a bit too deep. He too was a known dark type specialist, but unlike Victoria, he had a great deal of experience and respect.

Mister Blight glared towards the young woman who just interrupted his speech. His eyes dripping with anger and disapproval, even the most fearless of predators would run away at the sight.

Victoria immediately noticed her mistake and hastily backed away, realizing just how much she stepped out of line. The man's mere presence was enough to send shivers down her spine.

"That was uncalled for 'miss' Victoria. I expected better judgement from someone like you. Please refrain yourself from interrupting me again."

"My apologies sir, I never meant to disrespect you. I--."

Blight ignored Victoria's apology and continued his debriefing. "This Pokémon has been dubbed 'Mewthree' by Giovanni. Our job is to locate it, report its location to headquarters and wait for backup. Under no circumstances are we to secure it without backup, understood!"

"Yes sir!" The group all replied at the same time.

Blight grinned as he looked back towards the photo. "Now, it's time to find ourselves a pokémon..."

Like always, thank you for reading this chapter. More will follow.

So, we can finally cross off 'learning transform' from the list. Eve now has the ability to turn into a pikachu and a human. If only for 10 minutes. Like both Mew and Ryan said, Eve is a natural shapeshifter. Even if she doesn't think so herself.

I know that in the game and the anime, the original Mewtwo is incapable of learning transform. But Eve is a bit closer to Mew, so she is capable of transform.

Kirlia finally received a nickname. I chose the name 'Nina' because it means little girl. I thought it would be ironic to call her that. It took him 3 chapters, but Ryan is finally getting along with Kirlia (Nina). Or at least more than before.

I have introduced a team of secondary antagonists. This team will be responsible for a lot of trouble. Disclaimer: All of the characters on this team are OC's of mine. They do not exist in the Pokémon universe.

I am planning on giving Jessie, James and Meowth a small role in the future, but they are more for comedy relief. What do you guys think?

Preview chapter 9:

Our friends arrive in Cerulean. Eve can finally see her human form in action as she enters the city. Things may not go as planned though.
