The first redemption
Another day, another chance to reach redemption. Yet none have succeeded.
- Charlie, is it really possible for a demon to achieve redemption? - asks Vaggie carefully.
- There's must be a way somehow! I believe in it! – replies Charlie enthusiastically.
- Yet no soul could make it. What is your plan right now? – asks Angel a bit doubtfully.
- Maybe these demons need some more time. Guys please believe in me, it'll be all right.
Suddenly the front door bursts open. A young man rushes towards Charlie. He is desperate and acts like a maniac. Before he could reach Charlie, Vaggie steps in front of him, pointing the spear at the stranger.
- Hey who the fuck are you? – asks Vaggie impatiently.
- Let me talk to the Princess God damn it! – says the man
- Not unless you tell me who you are and what you want from her!
The young demon sees that it's no point in fighting Vaggie, he lets out a sigh.
- My name is James Smith, and I've just died a few minutes ago. I need the help of the Princess to go up to Heaven. – he says
- Vaggie let her come closer! - says Charlie – Please sit down and tell us your story.
- I was a drug dealer in the human world. I've done so many bad things…and my bride suffered because of it. – he starts - We were just about to leave our hometown to go on a holiday when the cops started to chase us. I was not thinking clear I drove fast. She begged for me to stop the car, but I didn't want to go to jail. During the chase I lost control over the car and we crashed into a tree. The cops surrounded us. I told her to stay in the car. I got off but in that very moment she did too. I shouted at her, but the police shot us. We both died. But as she is a pure soul she went up to Heaven. And as I am a real demon I ended up here in Hell. Now I want to make everything right and join her in Heaven to tell her how much I love her, and that I'm so sorry for everything I've done.
A sniffing can be heard and everyone looks at Angel.
- What? This is such a romantic story… - he says
- Would you excuse us for a second? – asks Charlie and turns to the others.
- Guys! This is our chance. This guy really wants to go to Heaven, he wants to be redeemed. If we can't help him, than I accept that there is no way for redemption. – she whispers.
- I think Charlie is right. – says Mira – James is a key to our success.
- Yes! – Angel jumps up – I want to help this gentleman so much! He has to meet his love! – says he sensitized.
- Then it is settled. – smiles Charlie and turns back to James –We'd me more than happy to help you!
- I'm glad. Thank you. Where shall we start?
James joins the other demons in the training, but the others give him extra lessons too. He is a quick learner since he just died. The more time a soul spends in Hell the harder it is to change him or her. Also James is committed to see his bride which also helps a lot.
He is the strongest and the fastest in Vaggie's class. His abilities are far better than the other demons'. He was well-mannered before he arrived to Hell, so it is no challenge for him to perform well on Alastor's class. Even though his bride did all the laundry at home, he learns fast everything what Niffty thinks is important to know about housekeeping. He shows Mira where they lived with his bride. Also shows where they died. He remembers everything, the good and the bad times. Still there is no redemption yet.
- How will it happen Charlie? – asks Angel about the redemption.
- I don't know, I was born in Hell. – answers her – Maybe there is a huge bright light and he disappears.
- So you say that not a single soul has succeeded yet? – asks James in a shock.
They shake their heads.
- What the fuck?! Then it's all just a guess? – he says angrily – Why are you guys give false hope to the demons! – he starts to shout.
- Hey, watch your tongue! We did everything we could to help you. – Mira shouts back at him.
- None of you told me this little information before! I thought you know what you are doing! – he is so angry, but tears appear in his eyes.
- Chill man! Let me give you a beer. – says Husk inviting him to the bar.
- NO! – he cries out – I just want to meet my bride! – he collapses on the floor – Oh Amy…I miss you so much. I am really sorry for causing you trouble. I wish I could make it up to you. – suddenly a light shines above James, but he doesn't realize it. Everyone looks at it with amazement. – I just….I'm so sorry…please forgive me Amy…please….
A woman's figure appears in the light, and she lands next to James. She touches his shoulder. He looks up and jumps to his feet.
- Amy! – he looks at her shocked.
- Yes, my love. – Amy looks up to him lovingly.
- Oh Amy! – he hugs her – Can you forgive me? – he asks.
- Don't be silly, of course I can. Or else I wouldn't show up. – she answers gently.
- Now come, you can now join me in Heaven, and we can live the life we always wanted. – she points to the light above them. A halo appears above James' head and he unfolds his new white wings.
- Is this really happening or am I dreaming? – he asks.
- This is all true my dear. Now let us move on. – Amy turns to Charlie – Princess I am thankful for your amazing work. Please keep up!
- I will, thank you! – Charlie answers. She has never been this happy before. Vaggie stands next to her smiling. Everyone joins them and they wave goodbye to James.
- Bye James! I'll miss you! – says Angel.
- Good luck up there! – Mira says.
- Thank you everyone, and I am so sorry for yelling at you Princess! You are amazing! - he says as they disappear in the light.
- Oh my Lucifer! – Angel starts to cry.
- You did it Charlie! – Vaggie hugs Charlie.
- No Vaggie, we did it. – she smiles at Vaggie, then turns to the others – This is a huge success! Now we know that redemption can be achieved. I say we must celebrate!
