A/N Hey, what's up, guys? Welcome back to more of the Blackburn siblings series. First of all, I hope you guys are staying safe out there in this wild world. Second, I want to thank you guys for your continuing support. I know I say that a lot, but I really do mean it. And third, this chapter is the second half of the seventh chapter, which is between seventh and eighth chapters, and hopefully, I can get started on the ninth chapter soon. Also, spring break got cancelled for me last month and it was decided that the spring break would move on this month of April. But anyway, this is the continutation of the seventh chapter, and here we go.
I only own my OCs Caleb and Chloe.
After a discussion of saving Andre, the group hurried back to the Wilder residence in hopes of preventing another sacrifice. Rushing to the library, the group gathered at the table.
"Coasters don't work anymore." said Alex.
As he said this, the group looked around and wondered how they could open the hidden door behind the wall. Molly then comes up with an idea.
"I got it." she said as she walked to the hidden door.
"You mean, we got it." Caleb corrected as he followed Molly.
Caleb rolled up his jacket's sleeves as Molly's eyes changed colours before they pushed the hidden door with their super strength.
After getting the hidden door open, the group ran downstairs, hoping that they would make it in time to stop another sacrifice.
Reaching to the observation point, they find the corridor empty. There was no sign of the parents and the empty boxes anywhere.
"I don't get it. Where are they?" asked Gert.
"Maybe we just beat them here." Molly replied.
"My dad got a huge head start." Alex clarified.
"Then maybe our parents took Andre somewhere else." said Nico.
"Which means he's probably dead." Chase added grimly.
"Goddamn it!" Alex cried as he slammed his fist.
Returning back to his bedroom, Alex sat down on his bed, feeling frustrated. Nico joined him as she sat down beside him.
"I shot him." said Alex.
"What?" asked Nico, feeling confused by what he just said.
"I shot Andre." Alex repeated before adding, "He was gonna hurt my dad, so I used that gun I took. I killed him, Nico."
"No, you didn't." she said reassuringly.
"If I hadn't shot him, my dad wouldn't have taken him to be his next victim or whatever." he said, still feeling frustrated.
"You don't know that." she said.
"I pretty much do. I killed someone to protect my dad." he said before he continued, "The worst part is, I don't even know if he's worth protecting."
"Hey." Nico said softly as she grabbed Alex's hand before he sat back down.
"None of our parents are who we thought... but they're still our parents." she continued.
"I'm just... I'm glad we got you back. I was so worried about you." she finished.
After Nico said this, she does the unexpected. She ends up making out with Alex, unaware that Chloe and Karolina were watching them.
"Guys?" asked Karolina, before Alex and Nico stopped making out with each other.
"Chase found a hidden camera in the library. We need you down there." said Chloe.
Alex grabbed his laptop and left his bedroom before Nico followed him. Chloe could feel tears getting ready to fall from her eyes.
"I really wished that I didn't have to see that." Chloe said to Karolina.
At the hidden library, Chase carefully pulled the hidden camera out of the shelf and gave it to Alex. Caleb glanced at his little sister, and he frowned upon seeing her teary eyes.
"Fifteen kids have died in this room. That is so..." Karolina started.
"Messed up?" asked Nico.
"What if the ghosts of all these kids are still in here, watching us right now?" asked Molly.
"Okay, Molls, no more Goosebumps for you." said Gert.
"Very funny, Gert." Caleb said sarcastically.
Caleb walked over to his little sister, having noticed her teary eyes.
"You okay, baby sis?" he asked.
"I'm fine. We can talk about it later." she replied.
"Anything?" asked Chase.
"Uh, no. Thankfully it's not on. Probably only use it when they're in here doing their thing." Alex replied before he continued, "Looks like the footage is being offloaded onto a server somewhere, but I can use it as an access point to see what the camera's connected to and translate the IP address into a physical one."
Alex started typing on his laptop in hopes to find out where the IP address is being traced to.
"No frickin' way." he muttered.
"Please no more bad news." said Karolina.
The group gathered around Alex, wondering on what he had found.
"Video is being funneled to your parents' company." Alex said to Nico.
"They're storing it at Wizards computers?" asked Nico.
"The most hacker-resistant network on the planet? Yeah." Alex replied.
"Well, we have to find a way to get it. It's actual evidence of what our parents have been doing." said Nico.
"Maybe there's an explanation. I mean, they have to be doing all of this for a reason, right? What if they have a good one?" Chase suggested.
"Good reason to kill kids." said Molly.
"Chase, come on." said Nico.
"I know it doesn't make any sense, but... I don't know, I was with my dad before, and it just made me wonder. What if we're missing something here?" said Chase.
"I mean, Chase, can you honestly think of a single reason to justify their actions?" asked Alex.
"Let's call it a night. i think we've all been through a lot tonight." said Caleb.
"He's right. We could all use some rest." Molly agreed.
"Gert, could you drop me and Caleb off to our apartment? Our aunt's gonna be worried about us and ask us where we are." said Chloe.
"Yeah, I sort of know where you guys live." said Gert.
"All right, we should split up for now. Tomorrow night, we're infiltrating Pride." said Caleb.
With that said, the group left the Wilder residence and went back home while Alex stayed and waited for his parents to return.
Meanwhile with Caleb and Chloe, having got a ride home from Gert and Molly, were about to enter their apartment when Molly raced out of the car.
"Hey, Caleb!" Molly called as the oldest Blackburn turned around.
"What is it?" he asked.
"I want to thank you for your help tonight. You really helped me out a lot." she replied.
"It's my pleasure. If I didn't have my powers, I wouldn't be able to help you out." said Caleb.
Just then, Molly tilted her head and kissed Caleb, having developed feelings for him.
"That's for being really helpful tonight." said Molly as she pulled away.
"Molly! Get back in the car! We gotta head home!" Gert called.
"I'll see you tomorrow night at the Pride gala?" asked Caleb.
"You will. Good night, Caleb." Molly replied as she ran back to the car.
"Good night, Molly." he said.
"Good night, Gert!" Chloe called to her friend.
Heading up to their apartment, Caleb opened the front door with his keys as he and Chloe walked in and took their shoes off. Their aunt comes out of her bedroom and ran over to the siblings and engulfed them in a giant bear hug.
"There you guys are! I'm so glad that you're okay!" said Mallorie.
"What's going on, aunt Mallorie?" asked Chloe.
"I saw the news about what happened tonight. I was worried." Mallorie replied.
"We're okay, aunt Mallorie. It turned out one of those guys we had a run in with knows our friend Alex's father." said Caleb.
"Go get changed. It looks like you guys have been through a lot tonight." said Mallorie.
The siblings went to their bedrooms and changed into their pajamas. While Caleb was getting changed, he saw a cat trotting towards him.
"Hey there, how are you?" he asked as he bent down and pet the cat.
Caleb looked at the collar and the name said Goose on it. He then recalled of seeing reports of a cat named Goose, before he realized that Goose is a Flerken, a group of dangerous alien species in existence.
"Where did the cat come from?" asked Chloe as she stood on the doorway of her brother's bedroom.
"I don't know. It just walked in my bedroom." he replied.
Goose trotted over to Chloe and purred on her leg as the youngest Blackburn petted the cat.
"We should get some sleep. We have to meet up with our friends tomorrow." said Caleb.
"Good night, Caleb." said Chloe as she walked back to her bedroom.
"Good night, baby sis." he replied.
And that is the end of the chapter for now. So what did you guys think so far? If you guys know who Goose is, it's the same Flerken that appeared in the movie Captain Marvel back in 2019. We don't know where or what Goose has been up to since the end of the movie and I thought it would be a good idea to bring Goose here in this fanfic so that Caleb and Chloe would get to know the Flerken better. What can I say? Goose is the best character in Captain Marvel since she is a Flerken and a loyal pet to Carol Danvers herself. But anyway, more are coming and hopefully, I will have some ideas on Avengers and Runaways crossover that will feature Caleb and Chloe and what their involvement will be once I completed this project first.
