Liam tries to settle his thoughts down on the lacrosse field. It is not really working too well. He tries really, he does. He continues to attempt to settle his thoughts while the other opposing team continues to slaughter his team. He probably should have tried to do some mediation or something after school to prepare for this game, but it probably would not have made a difference anyway.
He feels someone knock into him and he flies backward onto the grass. He sits up feeling a little bit dazed. Normally since he has become a werewolf, he has not really had much of an issue with getting hit so hard. He looks up to see someone looking back at him. Eyes flashing.
"Sorry man, I didn't realize I hit you so hard." The guy says, pulling Liam to his feet.
"It is okay." Liam says slowly.
Hmmm.
Another werewolf. He wonders about him. He watches while the guy runs back into the game.
"Dunbar! Get it together!" The Coach yells.
He shakes his head and tries to focus back on the game.
They lose anyway of course. It did end with his school only being a few points away. That is something at least. He finishes getting ready in the locker room.
"Liam, are you available to talk at some point? You missed lunch too." Stiles says, frowning at him.
"Yes, I will call you." Liam says.
He walks out of the locker room and sees the guy who hit into him earlier, waiting outside. He looks at him questioningly.
"Hey, I just wanted to apologize again. I normally do not like to hit that hard, but I sensed you were a werewolf too, and you needed to refocus." The guy says smiling.
"It is okay. I mean I am fine. Who are you by the way?" Liam asks.
"I am Brett. Brett Talbot. "He says.
"I am Liam." Liam says.
"You're in Scott's pack, right? Or at least that is what Satomi says. I am in her pack." Brett says.
"Sort of. I mean I was. I am more in Theo's pack now. It is a really long story." Liam admits.
"Oh, isn't he the guy who has all those chimeras? I heard horrible things. No offense." Brett says.
"No offense taken. He is very different than Scott. Do you know a lot about him?" Liam asks.
He wonders if he can find out more about the missing chimeras from Brett. It is hard to get Mason alone and the rest of them are giving too vague of an answer to really find out anything. It is worth a shot at least.
"I know a little. I do not know if it would help. What do you want to know?" Brett asks.
"Uh, I guess I could explain some stuff for it to make sense." Liam says.
He does not think it is a big deal to tell someone in another pack about what is going on. It is not like he is connected to any of them, so what is the harm. His wolf feels very uneasy and seems to be protesting, but he ignores it.
"Sure. How about I take you out to eat and we can talk about it?" Brett asks.
"Uh…" Liam says uncertain.
Brett laughs.
"Not like that. I just mean I am starving so I would like to eat." Brett says.
"Ok, Sure. Let me just tell my friends." Liam says.
Brett nods.
He walks over to the parking lot to tell Mason. He sees Corey and Mason waiting in the car. He wonders if Theo actually ever comes to school because he never sees him here. The guy continues to remain a mystery to him.
"Hey Mason. I am going to go out with a friend. For a school project. I will be back later." Liam says, leaning down into the window.
"Was it that guy I saw you talking to? Dude, let me just say I more than approve." Mason says smiling.
Corey frowns.
"Liam, I don't know what you expect me to tell the others?" Corey asks nervously.
"Tell them that Liam is out on a date with a guy that I am pretty sure has a six pack. Amazing really." Mason says.
"Oh my God. It is not even like that." Liam says, rolling his eyes.
"I am not saying that." Corey says.
Mason laughs and pats Corey's shoulder.
Liam waves goodbye to them and heads back over to meet up with Brett. He hears his phone go off but ignores it.
Brett seems to be very confident.
He tells Liam all about his school and how he became the lacrosse captain. He apparently was also a born werewolf, which Liam finds intriguing. He has a sister, and he says they may end up transferring to Beacon Hills this semester. He radiates confidence and seems to be very sure of himself all the time. He also is okay looking.
"So enough about me. What about you?" Brett asks.
"Oh, uh well. Scott sold me off as some kind of trade deal. I guess that is how I am in Theo's pack now. We are missing 2 chimeras and the whole thing is really weird. Actually one of them is dead, but I don't know where the other one is. I hope we find them soon.
"That sounds like a lot. I thought Scott is a true Alpha? He sold you?" Brett asks.
"I mean not sold. He traded me for Deaton. Our Vet and emissary." Liam explains.
"That's a real downer. How do you feel about that?" Brett asks.
Liam is not really sure how he feels about it. He was mad at first, but now he feels sad. He feels very distant from everyone lately. He feels awful he keeps blowing Lydia off and Stiles. He doesn't want to but he also feels like he is torn. He is trying to help the pack he lives with, but also should be maintaining the relationships of his old pack. He is not really sure where he belongs anymore.
"You don't have to tell me. You wanted to know about Theo?" Brett asks.
"Yes. What do you know about him?" Liam asks.
"From what I heard he was taken when he was nine by the dread doctors. They turned him into a chimera. He was operated on with no anesthesia. I assume that may mess with someone. He killed them all and then he brought back to life some of the other chimeras they killed off. I guess if they felt the experiments were not successful, they would kill them. Theo was the first success. After he had the chimera pack, he found an Alpha, killed the Alpha, and became one himself." Brett explains.
Liam thinks that still sounds like a horror story, but he is not certain he can blame Theo for killing the dread doctors. Being taken at nine years old has to be a traumatic experience. Although, killing an Alpha is not something he would ever do himself. He is not sure how he feels about that.
"Belasko?" Liam asks.
"I don't know much about him. He was not a failure and I heard they were friends, but they had a disagreement according to Satomi. The one thing that is not explained is where he is now and where the Alpha's pack is." Brett says.
"The Alpha's pack?" Liam asks.
"Well, we would assume that if you're an Alpha you would not be alone. You would have a pack. They found the Alpha, but not the pack. So where is the pack?" Brett asks.
"Do you think they ran?" Liam asks.
"I think your Alpha doesn't feel much remorse on hurting people. That is what I think." Brett says.
"I haven't really seen the violent side. Or at least so far, I have not." Liam says.
"Ok." Brett says.
Liam is not sure if this entire conversation was helpful. He still has more questions than answers and it has not helped him figure anything else out. He just continues to have doubts about what is going on.
"So, are you and Theo together?" Brett asks.
"What? No. Why would you ask that?" Liam asks confused.
"I just wondered because you seem to be a little defensive when I bought up him possibly hurting other people." Brett explains.
"I am not defensive." Liam frowns.
"Well, are you with anyone right now?" Brett asks.
Liam feels oddly about that. It is not a bad question, but his wolf seems to think it is. He feels his wolf feeling uneasy and that he should not be here. He does not know why he should not be here though. Maybe it is a pack thing.
"No. I am not. I think we should head home though." Liam says.
"Ok, I will give you a ride." Brett says.
Brett drives Liam home. He turns to say goodbye, when Brett gets out of the car with him. He follows him to the door. He is not sure if he should be coming in. It somehow feels like an invasion of privacy on the chimeras. Brett does not seem to be worried though. He heads inside with Liam.
He hopes everyone is in bed or in their rooms. He does not feel like explaining why Brett is here.
No such luck though.
"Who is this?" Tracy sneers, when they walk into the living room.
"Hey, I am Brett." Brett says.
He holds out his hand to Tracy. She seems to study him for a second and then looks at Liam. He should not be shocked. She was never one to be friendly towards anyone. He sees the rest of the pack, minus Theo come into the living room.
Brett introduces himself to everyone and the rest of them seem to be more friendly. Lucas sits down and is smirking. He looks at Liam and seems to be observing the whole thing. Liam is not sure what his problem is. He almost looks amused, and he keeps looking to the hallway.
Liam wonders if he has made a critical error. Maybe you are not supposed to bring another werewolf into a house that was not invited by the Alpha. He is not certain though. Scott never brought in another Alpha really and never seemed to be too bothered by other werewolves.
He hears a low growl.
Liam looks at Mason. He decides not to look at Theo because he does not know what he is thinking. Based on the growl though, he is not happy. Mason looks at Corey. Corey looks like he is about to hyperventilate. Lucas is just smirking. He really does not like him.
Theo walks over to Brett. He is not sure what is happening, but Brett and Theo seem to be having a stare down between each other. Liam looks at Mason again who mouths "Intense" to him.
"I am Brett." Brett says, after the longest minute of Liam's life.
"I know who you are. You are part of Satomi's pack. Why are you here?" Theo asks, eyes narrowed.
"Oh, I took Liam out to dinner." Brett says.
Liam wonders if Brett meant to say that in the way it sounds. It was not like a date. It was dinner. He still hasn't looked at Theo. He cannot. He feels like he did something wrong, and his wolf seems to think so too.
He feels Theo's eyes on him.
"Well then let's have desert." Theo says.
"Uh, no. That is okay." Liam says.
"I would love desert." Brett says.
Liam looks helplessly at Corey and Mason. He feels like Brett and Theo are being nice, but it is all fake. It seems insincere and he can feel an ice-cold tension in the room. It is making his wolf feel distressed.
"I will get plates." Lucas says, jumping up.
Lucas sets the table with plates and Mason takes out a cake he baked earlier. Liam looks at the clock. Shouldn't they be sleeping right now? He watches while everyone sits down at the table. Liam is not really sure where to sit so he waits while everyone finds their chair. He sees a chair next to Theo and one next to Brett.
"Liam are you going to sit down?" Mason asks.
"No. I can stand." Liam says.
"Don't be silly Little Wolf. Sit next to your date." Theo sneers.
"It was not a date." Liam grumbles.
He sits next to Brett and continues to not look at Theo. He should not care anyway. It does not matter. Why does he feel like he has betrayed Theo somehow?
He cannot really eat the cake, but he tries to. He listens to Brett tell stories about Lacrosse and Mason explain about school. He feels Brett pat him on the shoulder. He may feel he is uncomfortable.
He hears a glass break.
"Do you want me to get that?" Corey asks Theo.
"No. It is fine. Must have had a crack already." Theo says.
Desert finally ends and Liam walks Brett to the door.
"Bye. Sorry, I don't know what is wrong with everyone." Liam says, awkwardly.
"It is fine. They do not know me. Here this for you. You can call me if you have any other questions or if you want to go to dinner again." Brett says, handing Liam a slip of paper.
"GOODBYE BRETT." He hears Theo snarl from behind him.
"Bye." Brett smiles and leaves.
Theo walks up to Liam and snatches the paper out of his hand. He takes out a lighter, which is odd because he does not even smoke. He watches while Theo sets the paper on fire. That seems a little over the top to Liam but apparently that is Theo. He watches while the paper turns black and falls to the ground.
"I was not aware that I am not allowed to bring other werewolves in here." Liam says.
He hopes that will squash the issue. He really hopes so because he really did not want to have such an awkward meeting with everyone. His wolf feels pretty sad right about now.
"He knew. That is why he came in." Theo sneers.
Liam feels his wolf whimper.
"Get your stuff and move it into my room. It is going to take some time for Brett's scent to come off you. This is the fastest way." Theo says, eyes flashing.
"Uh, is this a pack thing?" Liam asks.
"I don't like when people touch what belongs to me. Get upstairs." Theo says.
Normally Liam does not like to be told what to do. He really does not, but his wolf seems to perk up at those words and Liam feels confused again. He walks up the stairs and goes into his room. He is not really sure what the hell is going on. He packs his stuff and moves it to Theo's room.
Mason comes up the stairs.
"Dude, that was intense." Mason says.
"I really didn't know that I wasn't supposed to bring any other werewolves in here Mason. "Liam says.
"I don't think it was because you brought another werewolf. I think it was because you brought someone who is clearly into you. Corey said that Brett was reeking with attraction towards you." Mason says.
Liam looks at Theo's room.
"Why are you moving out of you room?" Mason asks.
"I am not really sure. Theo said he doesn't want Brett's scent on me." Liam says.
"Oh. Well then have fun." Mason says.
"MASON. I do not even like Theo." Liam complains.
"Is that why you're moving into his room?" Mason asks.
Liam scowls and goes back into the room. He shuts the door. He knows how this looks but his wolf feels really strange right now. He feels better being in here.
A little while later he hears the door open. He looks at Theo. He wonders if he is still mad.
Theo stalks over to the bed where Liam is sitting. He pulls Liam up, so he is standing. He feels like his heart is about to come out of his chest. It is unsettling and exciting at the same time.
Theo runs his lips over Liam's pulse point and this time he licks to Liam's collarbone.
"Relax Angry Wolf. I am not going to hurt you." Theo says
