Author's Note: Hiya, it's been like a year and a half since I've last updated this?

As I said last time, I haven't abandoned or forgotten this story. I've just been doing other stuff...

So I'm not going to give any expectations on when I'm going to update in the future or how many chapters there are still to come.

For now we're just having a bit of fluff.

I've got a rough plan on how to get to until after the aftermath of The Doctor's Daughter, I guess. But nothing much concrete yet. I'm still trying to decide how the convo of the Doctor revealing his feeling is going to go and when it takes place and all. I got a rough idea but yeah.

Also still the decision on what I'm going to do with the Doctor's Daughter. I imagine I'm going to leave it mostly unchanged, but the real question is am I going to keep Jenny or not.

Well I've got a couple of more years to think of that I guess XD

Anyway, enjoy.

Oh yeah, this chapter's song is Lights Out by Hollywood Undead. At this point, I'm just spending my time shuffling through my Spotify playlist until I find a line that describes the chapter well enough. The meaning/feeling of the song has nothing to do with this choice.

Disclaimer: I can claim to own the rights for Doctor Who, but that doesn't make it any more true.

Reviews: It's been over a year, so not sure if this is still worth it but, here we go:

Moonbayb: I am glad to see your muse is still inspiring you to continue this story, and am sorry I just got to reading your new chapter. It's sweet to see the Doctor letting himself be so vulnerable with Martha, and I hope she decides to stay in his bedroom to keep an eye or two on him.

I mean, there's no need to apologize for reading chapters late if I update so late, hehe. Yeah, I really like this dynamic between them, he fully trusts Martha and vice versa. Martha will take good care of him, there are a couple of happy chapters incoming for now. I think.

8. Lights Out

Instead of immediately going to his bedroom, they first stopped at the console room. The Doctor not wanting to leave the TARDIS in the ATMOS factor where UNIT knew where to find it. He didn't trust them to not try breaking in out of "curiosity". The Time Lord moved the TARDIS a few streets away from Donna's home, so she'd have no difficulty coming back to the ship after she had dealt with her family. Something he sincerely hoped he wouldn't have to get involved in, although he was quite interested in properly meeting Donna's granddad. He wasn't quite sure what it was but despite only having spoken to the man briefly he was intrigued.

In hindsight maybe he should've moved the TARDIS here before Donna had to find her own way towards her family.

Oh, well.

He was sure Donna had figured out a way to get a lift.

Borrowing Martha's phone he sent Donna a text informing her of the relocation.

Martha was worried about him, he knew that. She had always seen through his lies, and obviously had guessed there was more to his broken phone than he was telling her. Not that he was a good job of hiding that, to begin with. The thing was that he really didn't want to talk about it with her. It meant admitting he had a breakdown and a crush. And while he could deal with Martha knowing about the first one, almost wishing for it, so she could comfort him. The latter part was not even something he wanted to consider talking about. Being forced to tell Donna had been bad enough, but at least it hadn't been Donna he was crushing on.

The thing was he was going to have to tell Martha something she would believe. And that was hard, he honestly couldn't remember the last time he had successfully sold Martha a lie. But all that was a problem for later, right now he desperately needed to lie down. He just wished she would let him.

If he was honest, he really wished Martha would join him in bed. Just to sleep, of course. There was something calming about having her as a bed partner. But he knew that he couldn't hope for that, there was no valid reason for her to stay with him. He didn't think he had the energy to go and fake a nightmare tonight to get her to comfort him, and it wouldn't be fair on her either. She herself was injured, after all.

Martha let him to his room, not that he needed her to do that, he knew where his room was.

Only as they approached his room did he remember the mess he had left it in that morning in his haste, but it was too late to do anything about it now.

Taking in his room, Martha rose an eyebrow. "So, me not being around any more means you have no incentive to keep your room tidy, Huh? I can't imagine Donna lets you get away with this."

"No," He agreed. "She doesn't. And I do keep my room tidy. Just, had to get up quickly this morning." He mumbled the last part.

"Since when do you have a pink teddy bear?" Martha asked, eyeing up the bear he still had to give back to Donna.

"Oh, uhm." He had forgotten that the bear was also still in his room. "That's Donna's."

Martha nodded. "What's it doing in here then?"

"She lent it to me," He told her, trying to sound casual about it as he started to unbutton his jacket, mentally begging her not to continue asking questions. After everything that had happened in the past two days, he really didn't want to face the inquisition just yet.

Well, he didn't want to face the inquisition, period.

Thankfully Martha decided against questioning him, instead, she started to strip down herself. It quickly became clear that she was wearing nothing under the white gown he had found her in. It made anger boil up in him at the realization that those Sontarans must've undressed her, it made him shudder at the thought.

Well, not really. The fear of what a shudder like that would do to his back scared him enough to keep still.

Without a word, Martha went to his dresser and stole a pair of his pants which she then put on, along with one of his undershirts. She had done that before loads of times when she didn't want to leave him alone, something that generally happened after especially challenging ordeals.

He didn't mind after all. Something he had told her multiple times in the beginning. Now she just didn't ask any more, which, in his opinion, was better. It meant she was comfortable around him.

Not that he understood that he hadn't exactly been nice to her in the year she had spent travelling with him, trying to keep her at an arm's length. To not grow attached to her.

And failing miserably at that.

By the time she had finished dressing again, he had managed to strip down to his pants and climbed into bed under the duvet. He had winced slightly as his back complained at the movement. He cursed his current's body weak back as he tried to find a position that was halfway comfortable.

When he had finally settled down, lying on his back, she quickly joined him under the duvet, snuggling into his side.

"Night." She mumbled.

He didn't have the energy to complain that it was technically still afternoon, so he just mumbled "Night." back, before quickly falling asleep.

By the time Donna made her way down the streets to the location the Doctor had texted her, she would believe that being the correct one once she saw the TARDIS there, the sun was already setting. After everything that had happened that day, she had decided to come clean to both her mom and gramps. For the first time, she had been fully honest about what had transpired the day of her botched wedding. A story that, up until that point, only she and the Doctor had known.

Gramps, well, was Gramps, and was entrenched by the story. Her mum hadn't believed her, declaring the concept of her being teleported into an alien's ship. Though she was almost willing to believe that The Doctor was an alien.

"Considering how weird that man is it's not really a surprise he is an alien."

All in all, there was no surprise in their reaction, she just hoped her mum didn't forbid her from going travelling with Spaceman. Not that she would let her mum stop her doing that, but still it was preferable to not go against her wishes in that. Despite everything, she still loved her mum.

As she had been telling her story her mum got more and more outspoken against him.

That was until she mentioned the TARDIS

She hadn't gone into details about the ship during the tale, besides mentioning the bigger on the inside part, deciding that wasn't imperative to the story.

And really the TARDIS was indescribable.

When she had been describing the scene of The Doctor bringing her home after all the business with the Racnoss had been done and dusted, she described how his blue police box shot in the air like a shooting star when he left her standing there on the front porch of her house, having just made the worst decision of her life.

At the mention of the exterior of the TARDIS being a police box, her mum had frozen. She had asked a few detailed questioned about it, almost as if she recognized it. It had been more than clear that her mum didn't want to elaborate what had piqued her interest and Donna knew better than to push.

Whatever it was about the TARDIS, her mum's attitude towards The Doctor had suddenly done a complete 180, suddenly she fully believed the story.

She went as far as to invite him for dinner, to get to know him better. Something she almost never did.

Donna had declined the invitation for him, after everything that had happened in the past days she wasn't about to force him into dinner with her mum just yet. Having made the promise to drag him with her soon for dinner, Donna left with a bag with the food they could eat as their dinner, feeling a bit overwhelmed by what had just happened. One moment her mum was planning to murder The Doctor and the next she practically started planning to adopt him, not that Donna would tell him about that part, he'd run a mile at the idea.

Resigning herself to probably never finding out what had caused her mum's change of heart she had just started on the track towards the TARDIS. Really wanting to check on her alien friend, she hoped things had gone alright between him and Martha after she left.

Part of her had been hesitant to leave Spaceman alone with Martha, especially considering the breakdown he had the day before, she didn't want him to get hurt worse.

That being said she would fully understand Martha getting a bit vicious with him over their history, especially if they had ended up talking about the issue and him telling her how he felt.

Not that she was expecting him to actually admit it to her, but nevertheless she entered the TARDIS fully ready to deal with an upset Time Boy who needed to be comforted.

She came back to an empty and quiet TARDIS, something she hadn't experienced before. There always seemed to be something vibing or making noise. Aside from that, she did get the strong feeling of nothing being wrong, which was a weird experience, but it was comforting.

Still, the question remained.

"Where is he?" She wondered out loud.

In response to her question, a light started slowly blinking in the hallway, along with a small mental nudge that she had to go in that direction. Donna felt herself relax at the calm attitude of the ancient Time ship. The old girl wouldn't be this calm if something had been wrong with her Time Boy.

Stalking down the hallway she went to find him to go and ask him how things had gone with Martha. She didn't believe for a second he had been planning to actually talk to Martha about his feelings, but at the same time, Martha had seemed more than ready to confront him about the phone issue. Something she didn't think he was ready to deal with. Though she doubted he was ever going to be ready to deal with the whole issue of Martha and his feelings for her. And she couldn't really blame him for it.

He had made quite a mess of it.

She, however, wasn't going to let him get out of talking with Martha, it was obvious they cared for each other still, it wouldn't be good to let something like this fester without addressing it.

The TARDIS led her towards the door she knew let to his bedroom, she frowned as she realized where she was being led to. He was rarely in his room, it honestly was one of the last places she would expect to find him to be.

Mentally shrugging she raised her fist to knock on the door, not wanting a repeat of what had happened the day before. That had definitely been more than she had wanted to see.

To her surprise, the TARDIS blasted her with cold air, alongside the urge to stop that washed over her.

Donna was confused by this, the ship had led her to the door and now expected her to not enter it?

Before she could think up some creative choice words making clear what she thought about the TARDIS playing like that, the door clicked open. It was obvious the time ship expected her to get into the bedroom, without knocking first.

Deciding to trust the ship she slowly pushed the door open and stepped into the room.

From where she was standing she could see the bed, where, to her surprise, both Martha and Spaceman were sleeping peacefully.

She couldn't quite keep the smile off her face as she saw Martha snuggled into the Time Lord's chest. It was a cute sight, and it was nice to see her spaceman so relaxed, especially after everything that had happened in the past few days.

Deciding to let them sleep a while longer, she doubted the TARDIS would let her wake them anyway, Donna carefully closed the door again. It had been a long and exhausting day for both of them, they deserved the sleep and happiness.

Making her way over towards the kitchen to put away the food she had gotten from her mother Donna decided to take a nice long soak in the tub, before she would wake the two up, if they were still sleeping by then, for dinner.
