Scotty had been confined to Sick Bay by McCoy to rest, mainly since that way he could keep an eye on him to make sure he was actually resting. Delta had left to return to the bridge to help with finding his creator, but it didn't take long for Scotty to get another visitor, that being Keenser. The little alien grunted sadly as he hopped onto the bed to sit at his friends feet, "I'm alright lad, just a little sore." But Keenser didn't seem too convinced, but its what he said next which really surprised Scotty. "Sorry…" Why was he apologising? "You don't need to say that lad, you did nothing wrong." He went to reach to pat his friend on the arm, but he couldn't reach it and he couldn't really move that much. "Come sit a bit closer laddie, I ain't an octopus." With a small chuckle, Keenser shuffled up the bed to allow for Scotty to wrap an arm around him, "You worried about the lass?" "Yes…" Scotty pulled Keenser closer to him. "Don't worry lad, we'll find her and when we do we'll make Kyle pay for taking her again." It didn't take long for Keenser to start crying softly, which almost set Scotty off again.
Just then the door into his room opened and in stepped a very happy looking Kirk, along with a smiling McCoy. "Scotty?" "Yes Jim." The Scotsman had only just noticed his friends expressions, "By the looks on your faces I guess you have some good news." Kirk nodded. "Sure do Scotty, we've found an M-class planet which fits the description that Lexie gave Spock." The Scotsman's face instantly lit up, "How far are we from it?" "Only a couple of hours, I've got Sulu giving the Engines a workout." Scotty's smile only grew, finally they were getting somewhere. He then pulled the covers away, "And where do you think you're going?" McCoy said while he folded his arms. Kirk already knew what his friends answer was going to be. "Scotty like I said, we're a couple of hours away from the planet. There's no need for you to be out of bed, not until we're a little closer to it." Scotty opened his mouth to argue, but McCoy got in first. "You're still not up to 100% yet Scotty and to be honest you won't be when we even arrive." Scotty knew McCoy was right, his body still ached and his head was still killing him. "Aye, you're right." "Ain't I always." Kirk walked over and placed a hand on Scotty's shoulder, "When we've arrived at the planet and have located Lexie, I'll let you know." The Scotsman nodded gently. "Thanks Jim."
Much to Lexie's surprise, Kyle had almost left her alone. Apart from the odd time when he would drag her out the cage, only so he could try and get Lexie to obey him. But every time Lexie had refused, therefore she had to endure the beatings he was giving her. It wasn't just the physical beatings she was having to deal with, it was the mental ones too. "I don't know how much more of this I can take…" Lexie muttered as she dabbed away the blood which was dripping out of yet another slash on her skin, it seemed that Kyle wanted to cause her as much pain before he killed her. Lexie knew that was her uncle's endgame, she could tell just by how he was acting that he wasn't going to keep her alive. The last time Kyle had come by, he told her that he'll be back in a few hours and for her to behave until he got back, as if she was a pet. Despite her mind concentrating on the pain which was burning all over her body, Lexie was scanning her surroundings to find a way to escape. She had also befriended a family of mice which had been coming in and out of her prison, "I've never felt so alone…" Lexie muttered sadly. She then felt something nudge her hand, she looked down to see one of the mice gently rubbing its head against her hand, as if to try and comfort her. "Aww, you guys are so sweet and friendly." Lexie smiled as she booped the mouse on the nose. "Don't suppose any of you know how to get out of here?"
She asked sweetly while stroking one of the mice on the head. With a tiny squeak the mice slipped through the bars, "I can't do that sadly little guys…" She then turned her attention on the lock. "If I only had a hair pin or some sort of blade." Suddenly Lexie remembered something, she jolted which scared the mice slightly. "Sorry mates." She said while watching her new friends slowly return to her side, Lexie then reached into her boot. "I completely forgot about the fact that I carry a knife in my boot." A few seconds later Lexie pulled out a small blade and smiled at it, then she shuffled her way over to the lock and began to pick it. "I'm so glad that I can do this type of thing with a knife and not just a hair pin." Lexie was also glad that she had ignored McCoy's warning about carrying a blade in her boot, after she accidentally cut herself with it one time. "I think he'll understand…" Just then she dropped the knife and it tumbled away from her, "Dam it!" Lexie tried to reach it but she couldn't. Thankfully her new friends were more than happy to help her out, they quickly scurried out between the bars and raced over to the blade. "Be careful little guys, wouldn't want you guys to get hurt." Carefully grabbing the knife between the five of them, they then carried it over to Lexie, who took it gratefully from them. "Thanks." Lexie quickly got back to her work, hoping to finish before her uncle came back.
It didn't take Lexie long to pick the lock of her cage, which surprised her. The last time she picked a lock with a knife was several years ago, when it took her almost an hour to complete her work. Punching the air in success she slipped the blade back into her boot carefully, as to not cut her leg again like she did the last time to replace her hidden weapon back in its hiding place. Lexie then slowly got to her feet, she was a little wobbly but otherwise she was able to walk, well almost. She almost fell over several times before even stepping a foot out of the door, but thankfully she was able to save herself. After hearing a squeak Lexie turned back to see her rodent friends running towards her feet, "Thanks guys, but I've got to go now." "And where would you be going?" Lexie's whole body trembled as she turned to see Kyle standing in the rocky tunnel, on his face was plastered the most sinister look Lexie had ever seen. "You've picked up many things from that Scotsman haven't you." "Actually, Scotty didn't teach me that." Lexie tapped the mice which sat beside her gently, gesturing them to make their exit.
The last thing she wanted to happen was for innocent animals to get hurt, the mice seemed to understand her since they took off running. "I was hoping to keep you alive for a few days, but since you fail to obey orders I guess I'll just kill you now." From behind his back Kyle pulled out a very familiar sword, it was the one he had been fighting with the last time the two of them had met. Lexie knelt down and once again removed her hidden blade from her boot, it wasn't exactly a sword but it was better than nothing during this time. "You've got to be kidding me, you're really going to fight me with a glorified toothpick?" "I've fought you with much less before." The pair stared intensely into each other's eyes, that was until Kyle charged at Lexie who didn't really have a chance to react. Her blade was sent flying and Kyle quickly pinned her to the ground, "Last chance Lexie, do you change your mind about obeying me?" Lexie glared at him. "In your dreams!" Kyle smirked, "So be it…" He raised his sword before bringing it down, with incredible force. Straight down on Lexie's scar, causing Lexie to scream out in agony.
As time passed by, Scotty was growing more and more nervous. He just wanted to get to this planet and find Lexie, Keenser had left him some time ago to return to Engineering, leaving Scotty alone with his thoughts. But he couldn't stand lying in bed any longer, so he threw back the covers and swung his legs over the side. Only for a voice to scold him from the door way, "So much as move off that bed and you'll regret it, I assure you." Scotty rolled his eyes as he slowly got back into bed. "I feel fine Leonard, really I do." "I don't give a dam if you think you're fine, until I say you can leave that bloody bed you're not going nowhere." McCoy growled as he stepped over to the bed and threw the covers back over the Scotsman's legs, "Don't worry, I'll let ya leave once we've found out where Lexie is. Mainly since I highly doubt you would stay put anyway." Scotty smiled. "You're dam right I wouldn't." McCoy chuckled at the Scotsman's reply, "So then, according to your medical opinion how am I doing?" "You're doing fine, but that's not a cue for you to be getting up Scotty." McCoy answered as he scanned his friend over. Just then McCoy's communicator bleeped, which he swiftly answered. "Bones, you with Scotty?" "No Jim, I thought I would leave the stubborn Scotsman alone. Of course I'm bloody with Scotty, where else would I be?" McCoy could see Scotty chuckling out the corner of his eye, "I'm here Jimbo."
"Great news, we've arrived at the planet. We're just pin pointing Lexie's location now, I'll let ya know when we've found her." Scotty's eyes lit up. "Brilliant Jim, thanks." McCoy then stepped out of the room to talk to Kirk in private, not before he threatened Scotty with a hypo if he found him out of bed. Scotty laid back in the bed and closed his eyes, only to hear Lexie's voice once again. Well, it wasn't really a voice, it was just a scream. A chilling scream, one which made Scotty's heart instantly slow down. Completely ignoring McCoy's threat, Scotty leapt from his bed and bolted out of the room, while yelling Lexie's name. Which didn't go unnoticed by the good doctor, who simply yelled angrily at him. "Dam that bloody Scotsman!" "What's the matter Bones?" Kirk asked nervously, "He's just ran out of Sick Bay, yelling the kids name." It was clear by the silence that both officers were concerned, "Follow him Bones! He's most likely heading to the transporter room, I don't want him to leave this ship!" McCoy had already took off after Scotty before Kirk had ordered him to. "Jim, I'm a dam Doctor not a bloody Security Officer!" "Just do it Bones." When McCoy entered into the transporter room, he was just in time to see Scotty vanishing from the pad. "Too late Jim… He's gone."
Lexie was in tears, she had almost blacked out several times due to the pain Kyle had caused her with his attack. Having him do this once with a kitchen knife was bad enough, but it was basically unbearable with a sword. He hadn't removed his sword from her scar yet, if anything he moved it around to cause Lexie even more pain. "I'm going to make your death just as painful as your parents, you stubborn little brat." Kyle muttered smugly as he watched Lexie's tears run down her face, he then pulled his blade out and stood up. Lexie placed a hand over her open wound, the memories of the time she had been stabbed there came flooding back. "This would never have happened if you'd just behaved! You have only yourself to blame for this!" Kyle cried, "What!? Just because I wouldn't act like one of your sorry little pets!" Kyle once again raised his sword up above his head. "Never imagined this was how I would die…" Lexie muttered to herself, as Kyle brought his sword down she closed her eyes, Lexie didn't want the last thing she saw to be his face.
Suddenly she heard her uncle yell out angrily, so she opened her eyes and could hardly believe who was standing in front of her. It was Scotty, who didn't look too happy. That was made even more clear when he glanced behind him to see the state Lexie was in, he could clearly see that her shirt was soaked in blood in a few places. "That monster!" He muttered in his head while he looked back at Kyle. "Keep your hands off my daughter!" Lexie just stared at him, "Did he just refer to me as 'daughter'?" That was the only question which was in her mind. The Scotsman and Kyle just glared at each other, both had weapons in their hands. Kyle was still clutching his sword while Scotty had a phaser, one he had picked up on his race down to the transporter room, since he kinda didn't want to go unarmed. "Scotty!" Lexie cried quietly, Scotty looked over his shoulder and smiled softly at her. "Told you I would come for ya lassie." His accent was so calming and reassuring to hear, Lexie had only been away from him for possibly only a day but in her eyes it was one day too many.
