"talking"

'thinking'

Chapter 8... meeting and exam

Nezu was a enigma for most people, and few even knew what he was thinking most of the time. thought there was high possibility of him hating most humans given the chimera's background, it was a well earned hate.

of course this wasn't all humans or he wouldn't be the principal of a hero school one of the best in the world at that. that means there are people he genuinely thught as good people, or perhaps liked children.

he helped the students when he found out about various problems, from abusive household or corrupt companies. that was why Shiroe's stunt with the commission caught his attention.

the rather extreme cleanout of the commission even if it was most likely a temporary one until the commission manage to recover the corruption would most likely return. even if it took time.

No the commission would probably only go truly clean if you tore it down. but the fact that Enchanter, Shiroe manage to shake it to such extreme. it provided an opening a large enough crack that Nezu can exploit to actually tear it down when it would be needed or time for it.

Oh Enchanter was efficient there was no doubt about that, he still didn't know who Shiroe actually is. honestly it seems like the young man didn't exist.

what an interesting enigma the other is.

speaking of said Enigma here he was.

"hello there. I am Nezu, the one can be a dog, or a mouse or a bear but more importantly the principal of this school. I take it you're Shiroe also known as Enchanter?" Nezu asked as Enchanter entered closing the door after him.

"I am" Shiroe replied looking at Nezu intrigued. 'well that's interesting, quirked animal perhaps, he definitely wasn't a werecat at least'. he had heard that the principal was interesting but this wasn't what he expected even if he's seen on the tv. seeing and sensing him in person was a bit different.

"excellent, I've heard allot about you" Nezu said smiling.

"nothing bad I hope" Shiroe chuckled, remembering his darker reputation in Theldasia.

"nothing of the sort, you did cause the media quite a ruckus thought you know. you made a fantastic limelight debut by saving that middle school boy from the sludge villain" Nezu said easily.

"I wouldn't needed to do anything if those heroes hadn't relied on their quirks so much. wait for another hero with right quirk of all excuses" his lips curling in distaste. well his opinion was clear on the matter, the pro found those heroes lacking to say the least.

"all I did was hit the villain in the eye, perhaps a bit cruel but efficient and worked, anyone could have done it, hell you could have simply thrown something at him and it would thrown the villain off long enough for the hostage to get some air" Shiroe said bluntly.

"so true. they should known better than throw logic out the window" Nezu agreed and seriously hoped those heroes learned their lesson.

"how do you deal with humans?" Shiroe asked accepting the cup of tea Nezu offered.

Nezu blinked. 'that's sudden?' he thought.

"you dislike humans for a good reason to. but how do you tolerate humans?"

Nezu looked at Shiroe with surprise. not many people knew about that, and he's been UA's principal for a long time now. even when Aizawa and Yamada were mere students.

"aren't you a human yourself?" Nezu asked and watched the elusive pro. while the principal is good at read people Shiroe was hard to read, honest but naturally elusive and mysterious as if it's merely his nature to be so. and right now as Shiroe shook his head to the question it was as if he did not consider himself human, as if he's not part of them at all.

"I where surprised that throwback existed here, even if more kinds or different name for said species. normally only being one fourth, or one eight sometimes half, but rarely more then that" Shiroe started. "it's called throwback due to how it surfaces seeming at random, and others are a bit too ignorant, saying you're still human clueless of that it's actually a different species who's traits surfaced from the distant past"

Nezu was now intrigued. he hadn't considered that possibility.

"the only difference for me here and there, is that Half Alv is named Fae here. I still have that spiritual link to the species roots that others lacks. I'm probably only around 5% human possible less, being closer to being Full Alv or perhaps it's true Fae. having not only the appearance but the internal biology as well as the abilities and racial skills. Including the instincts and presence that makes others desire to follow me, to learn from me and flock to my protection. it's a passive thing few consciously notices" Shiroe explained.

Shiroe had reason to talk as if he's not human. he simply isn't.

Sure a humanoid species but not exactly human and it made sense with the gamer mindset. considering his hud undeniable registered throwbacks as other humanoid species and said so.

add in the old myths and stories. perhaps there where some more truth to those stories, that others haven't fully considered yet.

even with throwbacks very evident existence, the concept Shiroe insinuated was not a theory others had taken into account. not truly at the least.

but right now, Shiroe looked slightly tired of the world as if he's seen far too much.

"that's a interesting insight I hadn't considered. but... you really don't consider quirks important do you?" Nezu asked.

"while quirks are interesting they're not as important as others makes it out to be. honestly half the time the quirk is a liability and you either need specific gear to even use it or need to custom the gear to your quirk as to not interfere" Shiroe said dryly. quirks could be very interesting he openly found them fascinating especially when comparing it to what mana is capable of.

But the gear. hero or even villain gear compared to the gear of an adventurer. it's pathetic that it's laughable.

Nezu nodded to that.

"that's true. the public puts way to much pressure on quirks, and very biased to what kind of your you have. and if given a choice I wouldn't interact with most humans I have, but there's not much you can do when you're different" Nezu started.

"it's why I opened UA to quirkless students I want to teach future generations to not be biased just purely on what quirk you may have. I started the sport festival due to the entrance exam being rather flawed even with the additional point systems potential students slips thru the cracks" Nezu continued.

"I see" Shiroe mused with a pleased smirk.

"but I'm sure you didn't request a meeting just to discuss quirk beliefs " Shiroe continued.

"no" Nezu agreed.

"I want to hire you, as a quirk consultant" Nezu explained.

Shiroe tilted his head, "I'm physically 15" he said simply.

Nezu blinked opening his mouth before closing it. well that explains why Hawks emphasized on that Shiroe's mental age and physical isn't the same.

"and mentally?" he asked eventually.

"over three hundred, my kind don't age physically after maturing" Shiroe shrugged it was common knowledge, adventurers are ageless beings after all. if they stay died here, he didn't know and have no intention in finding out.

"that will make it trickier" Nezu frowned slightly, his mind already whirling with different theories.

Enchanter is a official hero he got his pro license and proved it. that and pro license don't actually have a age limit just that most get theirs in later teens, that isn't necessarily the case all the time.

Enchanter's body in this life isn't adult yet, he's physically a teen. his mind anything but.

"proof of concept" Shiroe said out jolting Nezu out of his thoughts.

smirking widely "I have an apprentice of sort. who's going to take the coming exam"

"someone you've been actively teaching how to use mana?" Nezu asked intrigued, Shiroe nodded.

"a proof of concept, but if he didn't have the dedication, the determination to keep at it, I wouldn't have bothered" Shiroe admitted, mana isn't something you chooses to learn on a whim and just quit after all.

Nezu nodded having found that out already. then a thought struck him.

"have you gone to a high school yet?" he asked, and Shiroe tilted his head. incarnations or even isekai cases are allowed to prove their skill in a field, that they have right to the degree they had in their old world... regardless of their age.

there's a high chance he's tested out.

"officially I haven't gone to one here, I did test out of junior high before I'd end up killing the landers, err sorry Civilians" Shiroe said a darkness falling over the area making his opinion of that school almost tangible in the air.

Nezu paused, for someone like Shiroe to consider killing a school. but he said junior high not high school.

"why not high school as well?" Nezu asked.

Shiroe went quite at that for a while, shadows covering his eyes from sight. "you've already formed some theories of what I can do with magic haven't you?" he started. Nezu nodded affirming that he have theories yes.

'the foresight' Nezu instantly thought of.

Shiroe have seen something, something that made him ignore testing out of high school when he most definitely could. instead, he left it alone so that he had a option to enter the place needed without questioned why he was there.

"what did you see?" Nezu asked voice serious, a question on his mind, if Shiroe even can alter anything he seen happen.

"as I told Hawks. I know that clairvoyance quirks hurt the user more often than not, in ways others can't understand. and yours is permanently active even if you can tune the gear down on it, it's still there isn't it" Nezu continued.

the shadow lessened as ominously glowing blue met black.

after a while Shiroe gave a wry smile "war" he spoke voice even.

"apocalyptic level war" he continued and a question entered Nezu's mind that answered itself moments later.

hero commission, the analyzations. all of it could been woven in such way to trap villains, but also make heroes stronger. get the commission out of the way even temporary to prevent them from making a bad situation worse.

but that he's able to change things like this.

altering time for the wrong reasons is technically illegal, and nothing have ever been done on the sheer scale Shiroe's playing with.

that so very simple fact that he Can.

"you can change what you see" Nezu realized eyes widening, because that's not only rare that's legendary.

in general a person with a foresight quirk typically can't change the events they see coming, even when they try it. nothing changes and those who do have a chance to change it 99 of hundred the pro's or police who'd been called to the situation would arrive to late.

Shiroe nodded. "it was originally created as a pure tactical support to my allies against any form of hostile. using various skills anyone with enough intelligence can learn merged with my sensory range and of course mana bleed into the mix twisting it into something stronger, denser and undeniable supernatural. turning it into a battle tactical clairvoyance, my allies had taken to call Full Control Encounter" Shiroe explained.

letting Nezu swallow that information, as he corrected some facts. his foresight was anything but traditional, that much is sure.

"of course the long term time-frames are tailored differently due to the short time-frame's tailoring. making it more reading what I sense and feel from the Current of Time to forecast due to there being to many different possibilities to look thru making it less see and more feel but both lets me Know, even if long time-frames becomes more obscure, I'm rarerly if ever wrong" he admitted, and Nezu exhaled a slow breath.

a foresight who put heavy emphasis on combat and tailored for even the most chaotic of battlefields. one flexible enough that it adapts to changes letting Shiroe alter events to his liking in real-time when it happens or shortly before said event for the best possible outcome.

while also allowing him to passively sense and prepare for what's to come

"UA is in the center of it" Nezu stated taking a bet on why Shiroe didn't test out of high school as well.

Shiroe didn't answer or show any reaction. but Nezu could see gears, circles, energy shift and turn in the blue eyes, as that darkness seem to feel almost tangible, before it was pulled back. but the bluish eyes still shone with eerie light.

a glow, a sign sensory quirks often uses. a sign mana seem to share.

"1A the hell class" Shiroe eventually said with certainty.

Nezu held back a grimace at what the sort of young? pro called said class.

"you can test out at any time, but want to be near the center of events to affect the outcome" Nezu spoke

listen to the mage's warning to their words and perhaps you can change what's to come.

Nezu did not like the coming danger to his school or students.

while this wasn't how Nezu expected Enchanter to join his school, he'll take what he can get.

and it was a really good excuse to why he would enter UA.

/

a three months later...

The hero courses.

it is there that nations hopefuls strive to acquire the necessary qualifications to become pros.

of all such schools throughout the nations. UA High ranks as the most popular, and the most difficult!

each year less then one in three hundred Examinees make it in.

the man who turned down the national valor prize! All Might!

the man with the highest tally of resolved cases in history! the combustion type hero Endeavor!

not the least is the recipient of the best jeanist award for eight consecutive years, Best Jeanist!

if you want to be remembered as a truly great hero then enrollment at UA is essential.

and now it's finally February 26th and the exams opens to hopefuls.

Shinso felt beyond nervous looking at the massive building. other student hopefuls entering and walking towards it as well. he knew for a fact that his training was long from over, he only entered B level the other day, and that was a achievement.

but just because he reached that high didn't mean he'll get in.

even if both Shiro and Hawks are certain that he'll get in. thought Shinso is perfectly aware that Shiro will get in or perhaps he's already accepted on recommendation Shinso couldn't dismiss the possibility and he's yet to see the familiar wintery wings or parka the fae was so found of as he entered the building heading toward the theatre where the exam orientation would happen.

it was a large one, and took a while to find ones seat, apparently next to a blond who distinctly reminded Shinso of someone Shiro would call a monk.

the hand-to-hand battler of the warrior class.

only a half hour later the spotlights turned on toward the stage.

"Welcome one and all to my live Show! Thanks for tuning into me your school DJ, come on everybody say Hey!" Present Mic called out, Shinso blinked. The whole room was silent, as Present Mic waited a moment for a response.

"keeping it mellow eh. I got shivers down my spine too, Listeners. All right I'll skip straight to the main show on how this'll go down! are you Ready!?"

"YEAH!"

Shinso had to admit, Present Mic is persistent if anything as he continued to stay cheerful even with the silence.

"now pay close attention Listeners! today you'll be out there conducting 10 minuet battle practice at our replica city district! you can take whatever you like everybody gather at the designated meeting area after the presentation ya dig?"

"I see they don't intend on letting friends or classmates co-operate with each other, tch?" the blond said out before glancing at Shinso

The screen changed showing a city block before images of machines where shown before it looked more or less like a game.

"okay, okay! we'll be sprinkling a large number of villains over the battlefield. these are your targets who'll appear in three different varieties with point value scaled according to difficulty. you will try to defeat as many of them as you can. your goal Listeners is to rack up a high Score like a mid-song guitar solo!" Present Mic called out "but check it, make sure you keep it heroic, attacking other examinees is a UA no, no ya dig?" Present Mic explained moving his finger in a no-no gesture.

Until another there stood up "Excuse me I have a question?" he asked

"hit me" Present Mic responded.

"on the print out you listed four types of villains not three, with all respect if this is a error on official UA materials it is shameful. We're exemplary students we expect the best of Japan's most notorious hero school a mistake such as this won't do?" he asked

"is he for real?" Shinso asked quietly 'who is that stiff here?' he wondered mildly baffled.

"all right, all right examine 7111, thanks for calling it in with your request" Present Mic said giving a thumbs up as the screen changed adding a fourth image.

"the fourth type of villain you'll encounter is worth zero points! lets call them Arena Traps. their gimmick is that they rampage when crowded, think of it as a hurdle you'd be better off to avoid. it's not like it can't be beaten there's just kinda no point" Present Mic explained.

"Thank you very much! I apologize for being rude!" he said bowing his head.

"I see, sounds like one of those stage hazard you just have to slip through and avoid"

"this really is starting to resemble a video game" another examinee said out.

"well, that's enough from me! I'll leave you all with a presentation of our school moto. As general Bonapart ones laid down a true hero is one who overcomes lives misfortune, now that's a tasty bite. You're ready to go beyond. Let's hear a Plus Ultra!" Present Mic continued as the screen showed the two words bold and large.

"and may you all suffer gladly the trials to come!" he finished

/

A little while later, after a cloth change and a bus-ride they'd arrived in the battle-zone, the large gates currently closed.

"wow this is nuts"

"it's so big!"

"how much do it cost to build this?"

"this might as well be a whole town! how many replica sites like this exist on this campus?!"

"And Start!" Present Mic called out

Shinso took of instantly as the others stood confused.

"what's the matter? there's no such thing as a countdown in a real battle! run! Ruun!" Present Mic called out "that guy's got the right thought!"

and then everyone else took off toward the fake city.

'calm down. I got this' Shinso thought as he kept running until he reached a wall and went up it before he felt his mana move and he flickered vanishing from sight in small particles of light before reappearing on a windowsill. but he didn't stop rather Shinso continued moving walls, windows it didn't matter he was currently aiming to reach one of the roofs for a better viewpoint.

his hud flickering on, and quickly went thru the menu reaching his inventory before equipping the bow. dark black and metallic purple blended into it, almost medieval yet something distinctly non-human about it the string didn't really look solid either.

a precent for reaching level B.

flickering again unto a balcony, before sniping a robot that almost struck someone else 'almost there' he thought.

what Shinso was using was something he spent most of the year learning and possible one of the mana uses he was the best at. a form of paracord but far more advance a style specifically used and developed by the assassin class of Weapon Masters. it was faster, harder, using flat an smooth surfaces as if it where ground even if it where walls of the ceiling of somewhere.

when used it almost looked like teleporting at times, when you flicked jumped form one place to another. honestly it almost felt like teleporting the world fading out and then into sight somewhere else.

"let's do this" Shinso said out landing on a roof as his purple eyes started glowing locking target.

/

in the observation room.

In the examination room, several screens showing the various sites. "there seems to be a lot of powerful students this year huh" claimed Cementoss

"a strict time limit and vast battle ground. nothing quite like it to bring everyone's ardor into the open and uncover their skills!" Nezu started scanning the screens.

"Insight. the ability to grasp the situation quickly and accurately.

agility. the ability to stick adynamic entry without ever being late to the party

judgement. the ability to face any obstacle with coolness and composure

and of course sheer fighting prowess"

"we can gauge their respective levels of those foundational skills by way of the point system" Nezu finished.

"that's whoa" a teacher stopped mid word.

"look at site B" was all he said and everyone turned to look at that. the battle area showed destruction thru out the entire area while that's to be expected it's not expected when said exam has barely even reached halftime yet.

"looks like someone strategically destroyed around 40 to 50 points worth of robots. thought how" Nezu mused. "check for telekinesis and teleportation quirks if ther'es none look for high mobility or sniper" he ordered.

there was rustling from the staff members as they searched thru applicants who where sent to Site B.

All Might blinked as he noticed a curtain screen. "am I seeing things?" he asked baffled.

there was a kid with a bow perched on a building shooting villain bots straight in the head. "is that a kid sniping villain bots in the head with archery?" he asked just to be sure.

everyone paused. while Eraserhead's grin widen like a cryptic creature from hell. nodding while his eyes locked to the same screen that had All Might baffled.

"yes" Midnight said out.

"oh, okay I thought the kid with bow shooting villain bots was a hallucination. err is that even legal?" he wondered.

Nezu chuckled into his paws. "it's entirely within legal bounds" nezu started "you can own them, strung or unstrung, it's legal to shoot them anywhere although that might attract attention, the only restrictions on bows are crossbows" Nezu started and several looked at him with disbelief.

"for real?" one of the teachers said out.

"and it's a good thing he have his equipment because I doubt his quirk can work against robots" Nezu said out having found the file.

name; Hitoshi Shinso

quirk: brainwash

description: the quirk brainwash allows him to put ones target in a state where they are forced to obey all of his commands. it's activated by response to something he's said.

"that's why I said and keep saying that the exam is completely irrational. it's biased against those with mental or stealth quirks" Eraserhead stated glancing on said file as well.

Nezu sighted "I know, I know, Aizawa but without a proper idea on how we can test for those quirks we have to stick with this one"

"how did he?" a teacher sputtered as Shinso vanished from sight before reappearing at another screen this time hitting the arms of a few robots preventing them from striking the other examinees.

"keep an eye on him indeed" Nezu said out giddy his grin even wider then before. and what a peculiar mana skill that was, some movement, agility based from looks of things, unless it's some form of teleportation spell.

but Enchanter had said apprentice of sorts. meaning there's high chance for a different mana type.

in the back Eraserhead looked over to one of his colleagues. the two having a silent conversation for a moment before the red dressed man eventually conceded. 'I look forward to teaching you Hitoshi Shinso' he thought.

"let the real test begin" one of the teachers said before hitting a big red button.

the sites exploded showing giant robots on each of the sites.

they saw how Shinso stumbled looking rather freaked out by the giant robot, and for moment it looked like he where going to leave before stopping.

bow raised and arrow formed within a second, starting to give out a white glow before they saw his mouth move and the arrow was fired.

it didn't look like a arrow.

it looked like several lighting strikes cutting right into the head and parts of the torso, tearing holes in it and stopped the robot short as it went dead.

then they watched as Shinso vanished form sight before appearing at a wall before landing on the ground quickly moving to a collapsed area.

'the flicks have limited distance?' Nezu mused, noting the girl who's leg was trapped under some of the rocks, look at him with awe.

"that's some fire power" Vlad deadpanned

Aizawa raised a brow to Nezu who gave a subtle nod. 'of course the elusive hero would found someone to teach' he sighted but it made

"well this is going to get interesting" Aizawa said out.

he already knew four members of his class. well if you can call the third a member, he's still not sure why Enchanter decided to go to highschool instead of testing out, but those two surely had some form of reason.

"this year truly is a promising bunch" Nezu said out excitedly, but the thought that, said promise was also probably the only thing keeping his first year students alive lingered in his head.

/

Shinso grimaced as he noticed his mana running low, far to low.

"mana is a metaphysical energy, it's spiritual coming from your spirit and mind. so while it always replenishing itself if it runs out, it takes time, anything from a hour to a day depending on your mp regeneration rate. some skills takes very little and you'll recover it faster then using it other cases you use up more then your recovery rate. so keep an eye on your hp and mp or you'll knock yourself out, because mana exhaustion hits Hard"

the warning repeated itself in his mind, and Shinso felt tired, as if he wanted nothing more then to sleep.

"the test is Over!" was heard over the speakers.

"what? the hell was that?"

"he broke right thru that Gimick thing with one blow"

"it's probably just a lighting quirk, but that was something else"

"how did a guy with that insane quirk end up looking like he's not slept for months?"

"maybe it's just an act to outwit us"

"can't see how that benefit him in any way"

"well no matter how you slice it this kid's incredible"

Shinso wasn't sure how to feel about that. 'they think it's a quirk' he sighted, of course they'd think that. considering how the technique looked like, and it's not like they're aware of mana.

'are you all blind? that's not it at all. that kid. he leaped into action to save that girl you had no time left and you yourself were out of harm's way. your chances at passing, were hanging in the balance and yet despite all of that he still jumped in without hesitation' Iida thought.

'if it hadn't been in the middle of the big exam. I of course would have done the same!' it felt more like excuse, before he looked a bit thoughtful. 'but wait. maybe that was part of the test?' he realized.

there are more things to heroes then just capturing villains. rescue is a large part.

"Go home lads I'll take it from here" an old lady said out as she walked with a syringe cane.

"just leave it to me boys, here enjoy some candies don't be shy now" she said sharing out some of them as she walked

"over here!" Shinso called out.

"any injuries?" Recovery Girl asked as she got close.

"my leg got hurt" Uraraka answered.

"I see and you boy? you look close to falling over" she stated.

"just exhausted" Shinso replied.

smooch

!?

Shinso blinked gaping for a moment wondering if he saw right. 'uh the injury is gone?' he noticed. a healing quirk well that explain some thing. without that ua would probably have major problem going thru with the entrance exams.

"all right you should be sorted now. are there any more injured to take care of?" recovery girl asked.

elsewhere Dabi where heading toward the police or specifically a specific detective.

'a war is coming' he thought, he's technically dead at the moment, so what better inside spy could you get?

but Dabi is also a survivor. he needed backup to make it legal or he'll go down with the rest, and he had no intention of that.

Dabi

Race; human

Class: survivor

Type; Healer / Level; A

quirk: cremation

turning his hud off as he mentally left the status screen, thought while he didn't mind the black background of it. the highlighting were in a very dark red and a purple leaning pink blend that he's not all to sure what to think of.

'of course healer mana highlights the hud in pinks' he thought with a sight, not getting why it where pink but at least the dark red where the dominant one of the two, and the pinkish color leaned closer to purple then pink.

a smirk pulling on his lips "well this will be fun" he said out.

/

an: 8ths chapter over, this was a shorter one, and yes Dabi found out about the coming war as Shiro's calling it, if he did like Hawks and asked or if hawks told him well choose yourself either's possible.

but neither this Dabi or the original Dabi is stupid, even if his sanity can be questioned at times.
