Working Together
The next morning, Duke drove his car between the game shop and Emily's house. Monodramon came along too to help out. Duke was amazed to see so many boxes of pies in Emily's house. The blonde assured him that some other friends were coming over to help out and told Duke that he could just take as many as he could fit in his car. With that being settled, Duke began loading his car. He was able to fit eight boxes in his back seat and six more in his trunk. He also took two more for him and Monodramon to hold in their laps.
While Emily was helping Duke load his car, that was when Rafael, Alister, and Valon arrived to help out. The trunk of their car was already full of their own goods for the barbecue, but they figured they could fit a few boxes of pies in the back seat and on their laps. Unfortunately, the most they would be able to take with them at this time would be five.
"You and the others take what you can to your place," Emily told Duke.
"Are you sure," Duke asked. "I can come back after dropping it all off."
"We can too," Rafael insisted.
"No, that's fine," Emily said. "I'm sure you need to get everything set up."
"Don't be silly," Valon said. "We'll come back and get another load once we drop off what we have. Shouldn't be more than about twenty minutes or so, right, chums?" The others agreed.
Looking back, Emily knew that she was going to need their help again. Kaiba's limo probably wouldn't be able to carry the rest of the pies. If only her bosses didn't need to use their truck today. She could ask them for help transporting the pies to Duke's house. Finally, she spoke and said, "All right. I'll see you guys."
And with that, the boys started their cars and began driving to Duke's. Emily looked at the time on her watch. It was only 9:30, meaning she still had time before Kaiba would be here to help out. While waiting, Emily saw Téa and Lopmon coming by with the Sailor Scouts. "Téa, girls," she said, surprised to see them.
"Hey, Emily. I told the girls about how we made a hundred pies for the barbecue, so I gathered them all up and asked for their help."
Emily's eyes shined. "You did that?"
"Of course," the blue-eyed brunette said. "I know your resources are limited, but if we work together, we can get everything ready fast."
Raye nodded in agreement. "We may not be able to carry a lot, but we'll do what we can."
Tears filled Emily's eyes. "Thanks a lot, you guys."
"No problem," Lita insisted. "Now let's get going."
So they all went inside and began helping out. One by one, the girls came out carrying three boxes of pies. Then they went to an alley and came to the Secret Garden. Once they got there, the girls took the door back, winding up at Duke's house. They set the boxes of pies on the tables.
Serena sighed and wiped her brow. "That was hard," she groaned.
"At least we made it," said Mina.
Lita got an idea. "Guys, why don't we stay here and help Duke set everything up for the barbecue?"
"Are you sure?" Amy asked.
The green-eyed brunette nodded. "He knows we're going to be here anyway. And it's like Téa said, everything will go a lot faster if we work together."
Serena looked at Emily. "Is that all right, Emily?"
"Oh, absolutely," she insisted. "I'll have the rest of the pies over soon. You guys stay here and help Duke."
That was when Duke and the bikers came to drop off their supplies. They were surprised to see even more boxes of pies and the girls. "Hey, girls. You made it."
"We came to help Emily get her pies over here," said Raye. She looked over Duke's shoulder. "Hey, Duke, who are your friends?"
"Yeah, introduce us," said Mina.
Duke moved aside. "Girls, this is Rafael, Alister, and Valon." He looked at the bikers and said, "Guys, I'd like for you to meet our friends the Sailor Scouts."
Alister's eyes widened. "The Sailor Scouts?" He and his friends had heard about them, but never believed that they were actually real. They thought the girls were just superheroes on television.
"We'll have plenty of time to chat," Duke told them. "For now, let's help Emily get the rest of her pies brought over. Then we can get the barbecue started."
Everyone agreed and began working to set the tables and fill them with the food they all brought. Once they finished, they boys decided to head back to Emily's house, taking the blonde along with Téa.
Kaiba's limo arrived the same time Duke and the bikers did. Once more, they all worked together to load the boxes of pies in their vehicles. Duke loaded his car with ten pies and the bikes did the same. Kaiba loaded the rest in his limousine. With that being done, it was time to return to Duke's house. Yugi, Téa, and Emily and their Digimon also stepped inside the limousine and went with Kaiba and Mokuba and Guilmon. Agumon had to stay behind and manage things at the company while Kaiba would be absent. He was sad that he wouldn't be able to go to the barbecue, but he knew how important Kaiba's job was, so he decided to deal with it.
The groups stopped at Duke's house and began unloading the vehicles. While everyone else was helping get ready for the barbecue, Emily and Kaiba went to the Secret Garden. They came to the angel-shaped stone at the hot spring at Angel Peak. Emily used her magic and touched the stone's hands, opening the path to headquarters for Kaiba.
"Thanks, Briar," he told her.
"You're welcome," she replied. "I hope you find what you're looking for."
The brunette nodded. "I'll let you and the others know if I find anything." With that, he began walking into the darkness. Emily nodded in acknowledgement and returned to her world.
Once Kaiba made it to headquarters, the whole area was lit up and all of the mechanisms and contraptions began starting up. Kaiba approached the supercomputer and began his research right away. He typed the words 'Dark Masters', but just like before, he got multiple references to the term. He decided to narrow his search. I wonder, he thought to himself. He typed the minister's name and found what he was looking for. There was a passage that revealed that he was one of four Dark Masters. As he clicked on the words, the screen changed, revealing information on all of the Dark Masters; who they were, their origins, everything.
Kaiba stood up straight and looked in shock. "Oh, no!" He knew he had to get this information to his friends.
