As soon as Sandy arrived at the office Monday morning she was stopped by Shadow's secretary, as she didn't have one herself, and was told he wanted to see her right away. Sandy didn't think much on it. He likely wanted to go over the rest of the paperwork she submitted the past Saturday. Set went into her small office and dropped off her things before heading to Shadow, far larger office, where his female deer assistant waited to open the door for her.
"Thank ya, Bev." Sandy smiled as she walked past her into the office. Sandy made her way to the front of Shadow's desk where she stood silently watching as he continued to look over something on his computer acting as if she wasn't visible at all.
"Take a seat." He finally spoke as if it were half a suggestion and half an order.
"Alright." She said almost like it was a question as the took a seat in one of the two black leather lounge chairs in front of his desk.
They sat there not speaking for a sometime as the male continued to look over whatever he was reading, while he hit keys on the computer in front of him randomly. Not so much as if he were responding to something, but more like he was navigating through whatever was taking up his time at the moment.
Irritation crept up on Sandy as she watched her boss pretty much ignore her after having her come into his office right away. She respected the man, and even admired him in many aspects, but this was putting her off. She had a lot to get done with many accounts, and it would have been better for both of them if he had called on her when he had really had time. They both easily worked 60 to 70 hours a week and every few minutes wasted at the office was time they wouldn't see at home.
"Forgive the delay." Shadow said as he pushed the keyboard away from him and focused his attention on Sandy.
"Sal'right." She lied.
"I was just verifying our accommodations."
"Huh?" Sandy questioned truly clueless.
"I didn't want to bother you further over the weekend, so I held off on talking to you about this until this morning." Shadow put his elbows on his desk and intertwined his fingers keeping his eyes locked on hers. "Our client with the project in Port Angeles, Washington wanted me to send them your proposal before I said yes or no to it. It seems they have their own man looking into the environmental and social issues of their buildings as well. The CEO Val Begging, and Mr. Getting, want to meet with you and I tomorrow night for dinner at their headquarters in Jacksonville, Florida."
"Kinda last minute." Sandy stated still a bit shocked as she'd never been asked to travel so quickly.
"Is that an issue, Ms. Cheeks?" Shadow asked as he lifted one of his eye brows as if he were a bit disappointed.
"Oh 'couse it isn't!" Sandy huffed before coughing trying to reassure her boss she was worth her salt in her current position.
"That's good to hear." Shadow looked back at his computer screen and scanned it for a moment before looking back at her. "I've emailed you our schedule for tomorrow as well as our flight information for this afternoon. Please feel free to head back home now and prepare for our meeting. Static is staying behind to keeping things back here moving smoothly." Shadow sighed as if he didn't have much hope for the younger Electro male's ability in his absents.
"We will be there three nights. We'll likely only need two, but I just wanted to book an extra night in case things don't go as smoothly as they are making it sound to be." Shadow's stern face took on a soft smile for a moment. "I'm very sorry..." He stopped before letting out a large breath and looking at her again. "For it being last minute."
Sandy smiled at him a bit disappointed in herself as he repeated the words, she wished she hadn't spoken. "I'm happy ta help." She nodded before standing up and making her way out of his office. Her mind ran wild about all the work she had lined up that she had to put off because of this trip. She was the type of woman that liked to keep things in line, but this trip was now completely stressing her out. She needed to find time for what she needed to do. She'd go home and pack, and then go right to the airport to meet Shadow. However, when she got to the airport early she would kick into full gear dealing with her line of up work. There was no time to waste, and should wouldn't let herself be left behind. So much work to be done, but this trip was nothing next to her drive.
