A/N: This will be my, and no surprise everyone's least favorite chapter, because this chapter contains negative beliefs like child abuse, racism, and possibly others as well. This does not supposed to be shown as to how people treated each other in real life. I'm sorry if this offends everyone, even those who worked in the Hazbin universe who read this.
"…H-How absurd!" A woman's shrilled voice gasping in anger stopped him from 'playing' with his bokuto blade and turns around from the fortunately empty area of the park to see the woman pointing a finger at him while yelling at the dark-skinned couple now raised from their seats at the bench to stand in front of the madwoman, trying not to show hesitance of seeing the woman slowly sneering her wrath at the stranger's assumptions of them. "He looks nothing like you! You must've stolen him from his real parents, cause he looks old enough to take care of himself! I'll have the police take you both away and look for his real parents!"
"Feel free to try. We have a copy of his papers with us for these situations." The man incited the woman with an irritated glower that made the latter snark at him with a shriek that could deafen anyone within range, again it is fortunately empty with just them, with the boy slowly walks towards the adults and softly tighten his grip on his 'weapon' in case of attacking this 'Karen' if she dares hurt his adoptive parents both physically and verbally just like the taunt that hissed from her disgusting mouth, raising her arms as if provoking the couple to publicly fight her. "Well, you wouldn't dare hit a woman! I'll make sure to add sexual abuse and harassment as your crime if you do it!"
"Mother, Father. What's the matter?" The question alerted the three adults to face the boy albeit the adoptive parents are collected while the Karen gawked at him in disbelief and disgust for the boy calling the couple as Mother and Father, bringing the Karen to throw her arms and grab him by one hand gripping on his sleeve while another hand grabs the blade of his wooden bokuto sword to forcefully attempt to throw it away, horrifying the family of three with the boy holding onto his weapon and jerk himself to get away from the madwoman threatening the three as loud as she gets while trying to stop the boy from escaping her grasps. "Are you blind, or stupid!? What kind of 18-year-old boy would call those two parents!? I'll have these disgusting thieves arrested, and take you to your real parents! While doing that, I'll have a word with them for your dyed hair and playing with a dangerous sword in public!"
"Woman, are you fucking insane!? He's maybe taller than average for his age, but he's 14! And his hair is naturally this color! Officer, my husband has our son's adoption papers for confirmation proof!"
Evan's eyes snapped open with a shudder on the bed, tiredly grimace his frustration for the memory he had to dream while hoping that his trivial nightmare will not wake up Dij resting next to his naked body with the lower half of their bodies under the sheets. Softly releasing a silent sigh and snore from his nose, Evan stares at his wife's sleeping face with a large hand reaching to the side of her head not against the pillows with the contact of the hand on her hair prompt Evan to watch Dij slowly crawling her body closer to him until she presses herself against Evan's body without opening her eyes to keep sleeping, bringing the giant man to chuckle with a smile and rest the same arm on his wife's hip, slowly going back to sleep.
'It's just a damned memory…' Evan reminded. 'That will not stop me from enjoying my life with my family…including our new addition tomorrow.'
"Zen, it's okay. I appreciate taking the groceries back to the house, but aren't you supposed to resting for your day off?" Dij exclaimed with a soft frown when she, dressed in a simple black dress with wide, elbow-length sleeves and has a simple design of three bears at the front, a panda, a grizzly bear, and a polar bear, making her dress looks like a giant shirt reaching to her knees, a silver belt designed to resemble leaves with a long chain resting at the side of her waist and legs, black and white sneakers with nearly visible socks for her feet, and a large blue shoulder bag slinging across her body from her left shoulder, and Evan stood outside the town's local supermarket and in front of Azren ready to leave on foot while holding his mother's grocery bags for both the house and their food.
"Don't worry, Mum. Just taking a quick jog to the house and rest before meeting up with you guys tonight. I'll get Puteri home from her study date with her friends before we'll see everyone soon. Just call me if you both need me for something and I hope we can see our new sibling later!" Azren reassured with a calm grin as Evan and Dij watch the young man quickly run away from them and head for home, leaving the older couple standing outside the supermarket for a bit before they proceed to walk away, with Evan gently holding Dij's hand during the walk on their way to the next stop for today.
Ever since early this year, even before meeting Terren and the cherubs, the Kemp family were thinking and decided to adopt a new child in the family with Evan and Dij initially keeping it a secret from Azren and Puteri to find the right time and tell them the news, only for the older children to be eavesdropping that night. But instead of feeling angry at the thought of being replaced, like some other families would presume, Dij and Evan were relieved that their twin children are understanding and supportive of having a new sibling to the point they cleaned up one of the then-guest rooms of their house by themselves, next to Puteri's bedroom, as a permanent bedroom for the future sibling.
"Hey, Evan? Are you feeling okay? I felt you woke up from a nightmare this morning." Dij enquired with a curious scowl after humming the song Evan recognized it as 'DK West' while the two continue to walk and avoid both bumping the other people with Evan's height and the people watching them walk away with amazement and wonder. No matter how many years it has been since they have defeated almost every Dark Hell Market of the world, with America's being the only country left with the terroristic market still lingering left with those vermin, the Kemp couple will always receive the people's attention with not only their impossible achievements that would have become a fruitless tale if not for them, but Evan's giant size. But as if that is not annoying enough, there are still certain people that will take advantage of them for their selfish benefits by not only goading them to be acquaintances with a not so secret agenda, but also trying to get their children involved to infuriate the couple and become 'the demons they are', will not hesitate to torment them, just like the Dark Hell Markets for years unless Azren and Puteri are part of the problem.
"Fine…just a trivial memory I rather forget. I will not let such tedious nightmares distract me, Dij." Evan tiredly sighs and rubs his close eyes with his free fingers between the bridge of his nose before lowering his arm as the answer brought Dij to nod her head and softened her expression to smile a faint grin at her husband. "I hope that you won't distract yourself further…how are you going to kill those who piss you off?"
Evan chuckled his response to Dij's sarcastic remark and smiled back with his eyes nearly closed to make it look like he is smirking ominously, both waited with those wanting for the traffic light to glow green and cross the zebra-crossing before they join the others to walk across. Unlike other girls Evan knew all of his life, Dij shares his enthusiasm of slaughter on either attack anyone or no reason.
But unlike Evan who kills people for little to no reason, Dij prefers to torment her prey by beating them to near death just to see their fear and tears, exceptionally by her sadistic kink of eating bits of human meat from her preys. As terrifying as it is, Dij's on-and-off sadism, as well as interests to fight than cowering in fear, is what got Evan a beautiful wife. What also makes them official that Evan always cannot help but think about and be jealous is Dij's amazing power to see what others cannot, with their daughter also sharing her abilities while Evan is relieved that their son does not. Hopefully the same will apply to their future stepchild.
"Dij, I'm still fortunate that you accepted me and share my love for fighting, like that day." Evan notified Dij after she removes the hand she was holding to feel the hand grasping her left shoulder and gently pull her closer, pressing her against his left side, with Dij expressing a confident smile and nonchalantly spoke back with words that will receive another chuckle from the pleased giant. "Thanks. You make everything fun for me to enjoy life again…who wouldn't want to enjoy beating assholes up?"
'Yes, that's right.' Evan agreed. 'Life would be boring at first, but having someone that can make it dangerously fun is what makes life worth entertaining.'
Another half an hour of a walk was it take for the two to arrive at their designated destination with both looking forward at where they stopped and Evan stare at the building with a composed scowl masking the tiny glimpse of sorrow he does not want others including Dij to see at his face. Before them, the two stood in front of a large apartment building separated from the other apartment buildings beside both sides of the couple with a background filled with grass, having colorful paintings made by children younger than a teenager and below on the walls, and a large steel gate used as an entrance with a board showing a board writing the name of the building. Sunshine Home for Orphans.
"Even after I left, it still looks the same." Evan commented with a sneer with a glance at Dij to see her staring back at him for the remark with the pale blue-haired giant closing his eyes and walk away from Dij before turning around with a hand raised while giving a faint bow, motioning Dij to walk in the orphanage first. "Beautiful cannibal first." Evan proposed with a mocking smile.
"No, no, no! Giant ass bear with the big blue hair first!" Dij offered with her hands playfully wave and urge Evan inside his former home first before her, releasing a snort from the smirking man and hastily grab his wife by one of her hands with his before the two walks towards the door, with Evan pushing the doors and walking inside first before Dij followed suit.
Even if she is not a sadist, Evan is content with Dij's playfulness and thoughtful support of his life decisions.
As soon as the two walked inside the orphanage, Dij suddenly felt tensed to sneer at the area and faintly tighten her grip in Evan's bandaged hand from the strange sensation she sensed as soon as the two Demon Killers walked through the hallway leading to the registration counter, that could also be an office when seeing a male worker sitting and typing on the table's computer until he notices Evan and Dij's arrival, immediately recognizing their appearance for a second before gasping his shock and hastily rise off his seat but almost fall on the floor before he stumbles and stood in front of the table with his hand sluggishly hit the call button of the phone the moment Evan and Dij stopped their walk and stood before him, with the former not seeing the latter looking away with a skeptical glower.
'This place…' Dij sensed with a quiet sniff of feeling something out of the ordinary in the air…catching the disgusting scent she can only smell filling the room. 'Something's stink of decay…and it's not even the man in front of us.'
"N-Narcissi. Please get all the children down to the foyer. We have special customers!" The red-haired man called with a hesitant smile directed to Evan and Dij before ending the call and walk towards the two. "It's a pleasure to meet you two, sir and madam. My name is Brock and I run the orphanage for twenty years. What can I do for you?"
"We're here to adopt a child. My family and I have been thinking of adopting someone since early this year and I decided to pick here, because I used to be live here as a child. I was once close with the original owner of the orphanage before I was adopted thirty-one years ago, and I would like to grant the late owner's wish by taking in a child with me and my wife's decision." Evan informed the worker with a calm scowl as he and the worker Brock who was surprised in amazement of the revelation of Evan's past did not see Dij continue looking around the area for the disgusting scent of depravity filling in the room as well as the strange inaudible voices only she can hear but managed to hear Evan's educing Brock of their future stepchild's characteristics he and Dij thought and pick, right as the latter heard the doors opening and the sounds of young children happily making noises. "…We would like someone younger than eighteen, don't mind a primary school grader, but capable of taking care of him or herself. Our twin children are eighteen years old but our son has graduated from his sports college while our daughter will graduate from her high school this year…."
"YOU!"
Evan, Dij, and Brock heard a woman's voice angrily shouted from behind when the former two turn around and see the appearance of the children from teenagers to young with a few toddlers all staring in dismay at the middle-aged or a nearly old woman with wavy bleached hair gawking her wrath at Evan, who initially raised an eyebrow in confusion of this woman at first until everyone listens to the one that could be Narcissi stomping closer to the couple while yelling her rage at Evan, bringing him to pull Dij closer even after she snarls at the complainer. "How dare you show your face in front of me, after what happened the last time I saw you, you brute!?"
"…Who are you?" Evan immediately mocked with an irritated sneer as Dij was unable to laugh her amusement other than stare at the former with a displeased frown that hardened into annoyance from Narcissi reacting in horror shifted into shrieking anger when she points a finger at Evan's face, after forcefully push Brock away when he tried to pull her away from the couple only to fly and roll his body painfully closer to the other orphans with some of them gasping their fear from the madwoman and one of the older girls helped pull Brock back to his feet. "How dare you!? I knew I still remember you not only because you became those hellbent devils of the Dark Hell Market, but you were taken by a disgusting colored couple! Because of you and your so-called family, I was fired from my job! Now, you became a disgusting pedophile to this slut!"
'Yep…that scent was this bitch.' Dij deduced after another sniff to confirm the decaying smell was from the woman in front of them while she can feel the pressure of Evan's hand grasping her shoulder twitching and tighten when the Karen called his wife a slut, ignoring the giant man scowling his indignation at Narcissi still fuming at him until Brock hastily run towards the adults and raised his arms to calm Narcissi down, yet everyone can see that it is impossible with her temper. "E-Everyone, please calm down. Narcissi, try not to blow a fuse again! They wish to adopt one of the children, and we've been working hard to make sure they shall get a loving family to care for…where's Ayeka?"
A quick look at the children caught Brock's attention to notice one of them is absent with Evan and Dij seeing the children looking at each other with hesitance about this Ayeka as one of them wanted to answer the kind man but a quick shot of a stern sneer from Narcissi stopped him from opening his mouth out of fear for the insolent woman to complained to the middle-aged man with a crude scoff of disdain, waving Evan and Dij off with a snort. "Pah! That girl will make every customer run away from the orphanage and stopped us from throwing these bra – I mean giving the children to their future families."
Unaware of Evan who rolled his eyes and Brock who closed his eyes and sighed his tired sadness for Narcissi's pride ego showcasing to the innocent children…
'She's lying…'
'That bitch is the cause…'
'These children will die…'
'She will use them…'
'Abuse them…'
The strange voices Dij's ears listened since earlier began to clear for her to hear dimly quiet voices of adults and children pleading their sorrow in the air, no surprising her that no one but her can hear and even see the owners of the voices in the room just as she hears a few more pleading not about Narcissi but something else. 'Ayeka needs you…'
'Please save her and the children…'
'They need to live…'
'Their futures and lives are at stake…'
"Evan." Evan heard Dij calling his name as the two watch Narcissi and Brock arguing in contempt to the former and worry to the latter and the other children, collecting the giant's curiosity to lean forward and hover his head closer to Dij's side for the latter to whisper towards her husband with firm scorn towards Narcissi, that could terrify children or anyone afraid of getting killed by a sadistic woman. "…I can see and hear souls crying for us to save the orphanage from this bitch."
Evan first stared at Dij with puzzlement for the information but seeing a glance at her face hardened serious with her brown eyes glowing blood-red from the little light from the sunlight seeping through the window, Evan faintly blinks his eyes with a tint of surprise before he managed to compose himself and nod with a bemused frown.
As someone who has some experience with clairvoyance, Evan knew that Dij would not give that grimly serious expression unless the situation is dire…just like how they met years before they were married and had the children.
"Excuse me, Narcissi." Narcissi and Brock's argument was forced to put on hold when they turn around and see Dij slowly take a few steps away from Evan with a small passive smile that successfully conceal her exasperation for her rude behavior towards Evan due to their awful first meeting thirty years ago before she composedly proposes the Karen with bits of the truth through the lie she thought off. "While my husband will pick any of the children you brought in here, I was wondering to ask if you can give me a tour of the orphanage and chat about yourself. You must be someone smart enough to run the orphanage by herself."
Although Brock raised his eyebrows with bewilderment for the offer, Narcissi immediately smiled haughtily and walk closer to Dij, trying to push Evan away from his wife only to almost fall on the table and floor when the frowning giant stepped backward and ignore the angrily disgusted Karen sneering at him before smiling happily at his wife.
"Ah, finally! Someone who can see that I'm the boss of everyone in the building. Of course, I'll gladly give you a tour. And I'm sure you have been tolerating with your disgusting partner until now." Narcissi imprudently accepted Dij's offer with a hand gently press on her back before everyone watch the female worker leading the female Demon Killer away from the foyer and walk towards the doors leading to the stairs, with everyone not seeing Dij flashing a glare at Evan in anger until the two women disappear to the building, after Dij managed to stroke one of the girls' heads and hair to cheer her up from staring at the awful woman in fear.
Evan sighed his annoyance for what is happening before Brock and the children slowly walk closer to the giant man leisurely smile his amusement of seeing most of the children are staring at him with awe while some are initially terrified and another few are still frightened of his size. "I'm sorry that you and your wife had to witness this. Narcissi have been working with the orphanage for five years but she made the orphans afraid of her and getting adopted by families who are willing to take them in. She always complained that she lost her job from some family taking in a troublesome boy to be a mix-raced family."
'Then, I'm glad I was adopted before that wench started working here.' Evan mentally snorted the irony as he is aware that HE is the reason Narcissi works – slaved everyone - at his former home.
"I may have a bit of hope that my wife can handle herself with that woman …" Evan notified with a small nod which Brock responded with an anxious scowl before a sigh alerted Evan to glance back at the manager when he pondered aloud with sadness, soothing some of the children that were about to cry their sorrow for earlier. "I'm also hoping that you two could meet Ayeka. She's one of the few children who match your descriptions of a child you wish the adopt…and we know she wants a family who'll accept her."
"And here is where the bra- children's bedrooms are located. As you know, while the incapable man is lazing using his computer to do work, I was given the task to watch over the kids until one of them has been adopted. Unfortunately, due to how low the finances are as well as the rumors of being a 'haunted orphanage', it is difficult to take care of them especially since families initially tried to adopt them only to change their mind before I could bring them out. Such nerve…" Dij tried her best to compose herself to both understand and ignore Narcissi boasting the false information of Evan's former orphanage as well as giving Dij the impressions of Brock being a lazy worker and Narcissi being the dutiful one during the tour of the place, having seen the backyard, dining area, and single classroom for the orphans at the first room before they proceed to walk up the stairs to the second floor where the children's bedrooms are.
During the walk, Dij looks away from the annoying Karen continue to carelessly lie her story and glance around the area to continue watching more of the souls lingering around the places the two women went through the orphanage and pleading for Dij to stop Narcissi's abuse, taken form of people around as old as grandparents to young as middle-aged or in twenties, to children sharing the same ages as the living orphans, with their ghostly bodies bearing masses chains wrapping around their limbs and body with an additional chain locked through their chest and heart and the remaining length of the chains dangling from them.
The souls, Dij presume they were the deceased families of the orphans, would fly in front of the two during the walk with some trying to warn Dij to stop while one of the male souls kept trying to angrily throw punches and swings of his arm at Narcissi's face only to slink through the oblivious woman's head and body.
"I would advise you to get away from that brute." The sudden demand prompts Dij to turn her head from staring at the souls warning her and face the stern woman who scrunches her nose in disgust about Evan when she continues to talk ill about the other's partner, unknowingly brought Dij to hardened her glare with anger. "Thirty years ago, he's responsible for getting me fired from my real job as a business agent, because he refuses my help to look for his real family and stayed with a couple he calls them parents, despite having different skin color. You didn't happen to meet his family, do you?"
'God, I fucking hate people being racist.' Dij twitch her eyes in agitation when she immediately answers to give a better light of Evan. "Evan told me that story; you thought he was 18 when he was 14 years old and tried to steal him away from his adopted parents. And yes, I've met them and despite your claims, they accepted me to marry Evan and are very happy and caring to our older children. They even want to visit us tomorrow, and see our soon-to-be three children with the child we'll pick today."
"Hmph. What's wrong with just having your blood children? Why waste your energy and cash to take care of a brat that has nothing to do with you? If I were you, I'm sure there's still time for you to divorce your disgusting husband and leave him with your children, cause that's common sense with married couples." Narcissi arrogantly snorted as she did not see Dij glaring at her in rage for the cruel words, even the souls following them are as disgusted and appalled as the clairvoyant.
But instead of firing back a complaint, Dij noticed one of the teenage souls is waving his hand and point his other hand at one of the closed doors of the second floor, bringing Dij and the other souls to stopped moving and leave Narcissi talking without realizing the other not joining her.
First glancing at the other souls to see them ushering her to open the door with a hopeful smile, Dij silently nods her response to them before she twists the doorknob and quietly pushes it open to see a single barren bedroom with a bed and a locker as its only furniture, with a child sitting on top of the bed and looking down with a sullen glower while unaware of another soul hovering beside her as company. Unlike the other souls, this old man wears the orphanage's uniform to show Dij that this is the late owner of Evan's former home.
"That's Ayeka…" Dij heard one of the old souls introducing the child with a sad smile, knowing she was the one Narcissi tried to hide her from Dij and Evan, with the clairvoyant watching Ayeka doing nothing but sulk, not realizing her presence nor the souls' including the one keeping her company, confirming Dij's suspicion that Ayeka cannot see the supernatural, with another soul informing Dij with a glower both saddened and anger that made the woman feeling her heart grow heavy. "She's one of the sweetest and mature girls of the orphanage …but Narcissi thinks of her as a curse and abuse her more than the others…she's the only girl who managed to survive…"
"I can see that…She's like my kids in one body." Dij responded after walking in the room and stood closer to the child, her footsteps attracted both girl and soul to see her arrival with the girl frozen in surprise while the soul smiling serenely and flew away to join with the other souls who starts whispering to the old man. Upon closer inspection, Ayeka is a scrawny little albino girl, possibly around six or seven, with pure white hair and pale white skin, blood-red eyes, and wears a large and baggy, white nightgown that shrouds her limbs and could fall off from her body due to malnutrition. "Hi, Ayeka. I'm Dij…My husband and I are here to adopt a child, and we didn't get to see you downstairs earlier."
"A…ah! H-Hello, Voracious Darkness! I heard a lot about you beating up the Dark Hell Market years ago, and I - I'm a fan!" Ayeka speaks with a nervous smile that slowly grows into wonder that made Dij smile at the happiness she managed to give the child for once, taking a quick look over her shoulder to see the souls smiling warmly at their interaction before Dij glances back at Ayeka and sit cross-legged on the floor when she continues conversing and smiling at the child now cheered up from her depression. "Ayeka. My husband is downstairs with Brock and the children, while I had to leave that annoying witch Narcissi to meet you. Can you tell me about yourself and how do you feel about the orphanage before we're getting caught by the witch?"
"Y-Yes please! ... I like to help clean and cook with everyone at the orphanage! I wish to be a chef and cook delicious food in a future restaurant and for my new family! I love everyone in the orphanage and I hope they also have new families and better lives…" Ayeka answered joyfully for interacting with someone other than Narcissi, someone who could hopefully adopt her, and one of her favorite idols as well as getting more excited that her husband and also idol is also in the orphanage for her chances to get adopted will surely be higher with hope. As she greets and talks with Miss Dij to see her smiling warmly at her, it made Ayeka better from earlier when she was again forced to hide from potential families by the witch's demands.
'Keep your disgusting body away from the 'normal' people!' Ayeka remembered the last thing Narcissi said for today with her smile dimming to bear sorrow which Dij noticed in confusion before the child added what she wished she does not want to say. "…But no one wants me. I'm a freak and the scary Narcissi always say no one wants me because I'm different than everyone else. But everyone here also says that I look normal…"
"You're not a freak." Dij immediately interjects to startle Ayeka looking back with surprise when she listens to the older woman explaining with a calm scowl, trying not to show her disdain of the witch to the innocent child. "There's nothing wrong with being different from normal. Some people may not accept the difference of other people in the world, but we're all humans and humans are the same. Humans, animals, plants…demons, and angels. We're all the same. And everyone has a different version of normal. I know, Evan may not look normal but he doesn't care what others think and goes through life with a smile like a madman. If he can become happy with his life, then you and anyone similar to you can…"
Stopping herself to see the child staring at her as if she is going to cry, Dij first looks back at the souls remaining in the room to see almost all are unsure what else to do only for all but the oblivious little girl to see the kind owner's soul waving his hands and warmly urge her to continue making her feel better. 'Please…take her with you two…I know Evan will love her.'
"…You know, Ayeka…You're basically what Evan and I want for a kid. My twin children are old enough to take care of themselves, but we both are supportive to let them go live out their future lives as adults. Yet, Evan and I wish to be parents again …do you want to live with us?" Dij proposed with a calm grin at seeing Ayeka's red eyes blinking in astonishment for the offer as the two sat in silence for a few minutes before the child's eyes grew and slowly well tears in excitement, slowly climb down from her bed and stood in front of Dij to nod her response, initially grasps Dij's hands with hers when the smiling mother reach them towards the child's tiny hands before she pulled her future adopted daughter in a warm embrace with her hugging her back, unable to see the souls watching and cheering behind the hopefully successful mother with relief and happiness including the owner. "Y-Yes! Yes, I would love to!"
"Absolutely not!" Both cringed at the shriek with Dij scowling in annoyance while Ayeka squeaks her horror and press herself against Dij's arms and breasts from seeing an exasperated Narcissi standing in front of the open door and managed to witness a bit of the conversation before the offer of adopting Ayeka, making Narcissi more livid than when she was arguing with Evan earlier.
'What the fuck is wrong with you, woman?' Dij mentally sighed her frustration when she, her frightened future daughter, and the deceased glare at the woman with Ayeka being the only one afraid while Dij and the souls are sneering in wrath even forced to hear Narcissi howling her mind of the conversation with his face growing red in rage. "Woman, are you blind!? First, you married the brute that made me fired from my dream job, then he made you a disgusting monster that kills the black market, and now you want to take in that thing!? What is wrong with you!? Your life became abnormal because of these freaks!"
"What's wrong with having something out of the ordinary?" Dij demanded with a stern glower after slowly standing on her feet with her arms holding Ayeka's body to sit on her arms, still staring at the abusive woman reacting with confusion through her wrath of the question that Dij continue to explain without changing any expression other than anger towards the worst orphanage worker. "When you lived out your life in this corrupted world, you would see everyone plays their part and role the same as everyone else and I find that boring. Also, people are created with the need to live their life exactly what they want, with their version of normal than those losers who believe being normal is by forcing their rules on other people. If you can't accept those who are different than your perception of normal, like Evan's parents and Ayeka, then you're the most boring and annoying human being in the boring world."
"S-Shut up, you Asian bitch! The world is filled with freaks that can send everything astray with their appearances and actions! Those smart enough to have my mind need to do something and eradicate every single one of these freaks!" Narcissi barked and instantly sprint inside the room, readying to tackle both Dij and Ayeka for the latter to scream her horror while the former furrowed her anger. "…You're no fun. No wonder you're forever alone."
Instantly, Dij slides to the side with her right leg swinging up and hit Narcissi in the stomach, her eyes bulged wide in pain, and her body shaken with agony by the strike before Dij's foot instantly stomp its sole against the stomach and planted Narcissi's back against the wooden floor with a loud slam, threatening the Karen of breaking her spine and back, and falling from the floor to the lower floors before she releases a strangled scream by Dij nearly kneel and raised her right arm off Ayeka and stuff her hand in her shoulder bag before pulling out a black Kunai knife with a red-clothed handle, holding it inches against Narcissi's throat and release a short intake of a gasp of fear.
"Ayeka, run down to the bottom floor and tell your future father that I'll be busy trying to stop this witch from killing you…and scaring everything with the haunted house joke she created." Dij lowered Ayeka off her arm with the albino child first staring at the other in dread but a quick glimpse of her glowing reddish-brown eyes and the knife almost impaling the witch's throat prompt Ayeka to hastily run out of the room, leaving Dij with the 'witch' and the souls now circling the women with indignation for Narcissi who struggles under Dij's foot and knife.
"You…" Narcissi spat at the stoically displeased Demon Killer with anger slowly shifting into fear from feeling the tip of her knife against her throat. "…You just make everyone embrace those freaks! And make the world into conflict!"
"Everything has conflicted since the beginning, so it wasn't a surprise that people ended up wanting to die sooner or get themselves dead by being involved…why don't you ask the ghosts that stayed in the orphanage, wanting vengeance for you abusing their children?" Dij scoffed for the assumption as she is unfazed of Narcissi initially staring at her as if the clairvoyant is blind or mentally ill…only for the bitch to see something that made grow horrified to scream with Dij shuddering in distaste for not covering her ears with her hands by the volume.
From her position…Narcissi see not only Dij's face hovering above her's but the sight of people made of translucent foam of energy floating above them with chains entangling their bodies and staring at her with vehemence, especially since Narcissi recognized one of them as the late owner of the orphanage from one of the building's paintings. "Y-You're a demon! Voracious Darkness! W-What are they going to do with me!?" Narcissi demanded in fear.
"Don't know, don't care if you're going to die or not. All I know that they wish to punish you for abusing the kids…" Dij heartlessly responded as she walks away from Narcissi who almost climb off the floor and run away only for the icy feeling of hands by the materialized ghosts grabbing any parts of her body and limbs before she covers her ears with her hands from the shrilled scream out of the abusive woman's mouth and walks towards the door to stand against it and watch what will the vengeful ghosts do with their victim, with Evan's late father figure joining her side and remark his surprise after she replaces her knife to grab her phone from her bag, showing she left the voice messaging app on since she entered the orphanage as an emergency proof. "I never know that Evan is lucky to have you as his wife…But I'm glad you can see us and now saved us and the living from this madwoman, miss. We wouldn't even make ourselves visible if not for you reminding us we can."
"Thanks, sir. I wish I could do more than fight her for everyone here…but I have a feeling I'll make this longer. Are you planning to kill the bitch?" Dij responded with a smile and switched off to end the recording, using it as evidence in case there will be a scene to tell the police, before her question of what to do with the bitch continue to scream even when one of the ghosts wrapped one of its chains around her throat and hoist the human woman up on the air like a piñata, shrieking and dangling above the ghosts howling for her blood with the owner not joining them. "As much as we would like to, I'm afraid that it'll cause complications both living and the dead. Just to traumatize her enough to never hurt a soul again."
"At this rate, she's gonna be more than brain dead." Dij chuckled severely once she presses her A – phone Contacts app and finds a number before composedly walk out of the room with her phone against her ear and her new companion slipping through the door and join her float down to the bottom floor, leaving the woman screaming her life in a room of ghost. "Hello, Jax? This is Dij…"
"What was that?" Brock asked in disbelief of the sudden scream that rang the orphanage with most of the children screaming their fears as well when everyone including Evan who was about to become a doll by the other girl orphans playing with his long blue hair recognized the scream as Narcissi, bringing Evan hastily to climb on his feet and run towards the staircase with his arm reaching for his sword in case that Karen dared try to hurt Dij for being 'abnormal'. Before he could run up the staircase with Brock following the giant man, everyone notices the arrival of an adorable, albino girl slowly walking down the stairs one step at a time yet one of her feet accidentally stepped on the ends of her nightgown and gasp her shock while falling off the stairs by a misstep only for Evan to swiftly reach his muscled arms and catch the child now resting and cuddling against Evan's embrace in fear.
"Ayeka!" Brock recognized the girl in worry.
'So this is Ayeka…' Evan glance at the albino girl slowly looking up from pressing her face on his muscled breasts and show him the dread of her blood-red eyes, which for some reason does not intimidate Evan like some uptight, annoying person would show when seeing something abnormal to smile a menacing-like smile at his future daughter. "Hello, Ayeka. I was told nice things about you from everyone here…and I know you were with my wife earlier. Did she tell you we want to adopt you?"
Ayeka softly gasps her bewilderment at Evan's words but she did not muster anything to say and respond when everyone witness Dij's voice speaking through her phone and nonchalantly walking down the stairs ear to call someone from the other line, the soft frown that looks like a cruel smile caught Evan curiosity while he rubs Ayeka's hand with a hand to calm down. "Hello, Jax? This is Dij. I have an annoying…witch soon to be traumatized by something she did and tried to abuse and kill my soon-to-be adopted daughter… I'm in Evan's former orphanage. You know I don't swear in front of children unless they know the meaning."
"Jax? Oh no…" Evan realized in displeasure once his wife ended the call with a nod and put his phone back in his shoulder bag with a passive smile hiding the grim reason for the call before apologizing to Brock and the children with a faintly sad grin. "I'm so sorry about upstairs…that witch kept entertaining herself during the tour by lying to me about her work in the orphanage, complaining about Evan ruining her life, and tried to kill Ayeka when the woman reacted badly to my decision of adopting her. But in the end, she ended up provoking the ghosts of the orphanage she thought she made up and turned out to be true. I called Evan's friend who works at a clinic to collect her and check on her condition…Are we still eligible to adopt Ayeka?"
Hearing the information shocked Brock and the children for what Narcissi has done, knowing that she was abusing Ayeka more than the other orphans since the former started working in the orphanage when the child was two years old that time, with only Brock and the children being the ones who saved her from the madwoman but the thought of how she created the haunted orphanage rumor that terrified people from adopting the other children turns out to be true was surprising. However, what else he heard attracted Brock to get himself back to reality by Dij proposing to adopt Ayeka with a glimpse of Evan's and Ayeka's faces to see the latter staring at her hopefully adopted father with surprise and hope of the other first stroking the back of her hair with a serene smile before shifting his attention to Brock and silently nod his agreement.
"O-Oh! Of course! Gladly! Give me a second…" Brock hastily accepted with a smile slowly growing with happiness and run towards his desk and computer. While he starts to make some hard and soft documents of finalizing Ayeka's adoption to Dij and Evan, the couple and their future daughter notice the incoming children slowly relax and group closer towards them when some of the children Ayeka's age ask Dij with terrified scowls and embraced by her other friends. "Do you really see ghosts upstairs?"
"Are they scary as that mean lady said they are?"
"What do they do to her?"
"Are they going to hurt us too?"
"No. These ghosts would only get angry if they see what angers them, like the witch who hurts everyone here until now. I can see that these ghosts cared and love every one of you, hoping to watch all of you get adopted and have a better life outside the orphanage…" Dij kneel on the floor and reassured the children with a small smile once they slowly walk and sit closer to the female Demon Killer except for Ayeka who remain sitting on Evan's arms and watch Brock finishing his documents to print before both Dij telling a story to the now amazed orphans and Evan now staring at her.
"Mister Giant Tsunami? Do you mind someone like me as part of your family, even though I look like a freak?" Ayeka nervously asked.
"…You're beautiful than what others think you are, Ayeka. Dij wants everyone to know that no one deserves to listen what dumb negative cowards think about them, and have no choice but to accept them as people." Evan assured with a warm smile and gently pull his young adopted child in his muscled bosom, feeling her tense a bit by the gesture before she immediately relaxes with a delighted hum.
Unaware of all unless Dij is not tending to the children now engrossed with her and her husband like superheroes, the souls of the orphans' families and the late owner had finished punishing Narcissi and left her at the top floor to watch the sight before them, feeling their non-existent hearts lighten in happiness for once in their afterlives yet the late owner witness his body slowly glowing with golden yellow or white light sparkling all over his misty body, shocking the other souls who float back before they witness the late owner's soul immediately disperse into tiny particles of white light flying up to the ceiling before disappearing into the air, showing the other souls that the late owner has moved on to Heaven. 'Evan...I'm proud you have a wonderful life.'

"Puan? Awak sedia ke? Kalau awak merasa tidak selesa, pastikan memberitahu kita dan kita akan membantu menenangkan awak (Miss? Are you ready? Just in case if you feel uneasy, make sure to notify us and we'll help calm you down)." A voice stopped the quiet girl from finishing her song when two Malay women dressed as police officers walked inside the room occupied by the former who initially sat on the couch before their arrival notified her to slowly rise from her seat, ready for the fiasco to start. When she stood up, the two female officers react in the horror of what they are seeing for one of them to inform the girl with dread. "M-Muka dan mata kau… (Y-your face and eyes)!?"
"…Takpe. Saya tak peduli mengenai diri saya… (It's alright. I don't care about myself…)." The girl spoke emotionlessly and ignore the fear on the police officers' faces when they first look at each other before back to her face before one of them enquire her. "B-boleh tak kita tolong basuhkan muka awak sebelum kita masuk ruang mahkamah (C-Can't we help wash your face before we enter the courtroom)?"
"Jangan. Saya nak semua ni habis sekarang. Tak kisah kalau saya nak mati selepas ini (No, don't. I just want this over now. I don't care if I want to die after this)…" The girl hissed in anger that managed to horrify the police officers to again look at each other in fear before they again glance back at her with sorrow… unable to believe of seeing a young woman's face losing any innocence left in her beautiful face with brown eyes shedding blood as tears, and glowing red despite there is little light in the room. "B-Baiklah (V-Very well)… Puan Khadijah Zearane?"
