Chapter 25 - Breach of Security (Best Young & New Author)
"And we are back, everyone," GT said when she came back on the stage. "There are only eight more awards until we get to the most prestigious one of all. So to present the next award, please welcome, once again, Anna Stoppable!"
Anna happily came onto the stage from the wings.
"Hello, once again! I hope everyone is still here, for I am going to be doing a tap-dancing performance once Kim and Ron announce who the Best Writer of 2019 is," Anna said. "But for now, I am going to present to you an award that has largely been resurrected: the Best Young Author award. To qualify for this award, the author must be between the ages of fourteen and nineteen as of the 2019 cycle. The two nominees for this award are..."

"Your last paycheck has been sent to your bank account. Thanks.
P.S. If you come home soon, please stop by the store and pick up more Coco-Moo. I ran out of it last month."
Her frown deepened as she focused on the first part of the text, disregarding the second half entirely.
Last paycheck? Since when did I agree to end the contract?
Shego knew Drakken wasn't stupid, no matter what his actions and words spoke otherwise. She figured the blue scientist came to the conclusion she was still alive since he had still tried to contact her regularly for the past 3 months.
He won't last one day without me.
Shego tried to ignore the irony of that thought, considering Drakken was apparently still alive after she ditched.
No, actually scratch that. She didn't "ditch." She just took a much-needed vacation.
Wait. Is this goon firing me?
Feeling her temper rise steadily, she gripped the sides of her beach chair until her knuckles turned a ghostly white.
A loud seagull cawed repeatedly above her, and Shego felt a splat hit the top of her head. It didn't hurt, but her anger had already tipped over the edge.
With an outraged shriek, she hurled a glowing green ball of plasma at the sky, purposely missing the small bird.
Her hair was now stained white with bird poop, and she snarled at no one in particular.
I can't believe the shit the universe is throwing at me right now. Literally.
Shego stood up abruptly and flung her sunglasses on the empty lounge chair.
The shit I have to go through every day is unreal.
Stomping off heatedly to a quaint beach shack, she quickly changed out of her swimsuit into a green t-shirt and black skinny jeans.
Well, shit happens.
Shego hurriedly washed out her long midnight hair before any more corny shit jokes floated to her mind.
I don't give a shit.

"Just make sure you're not always doing that in public," said James with a stern look.
"Oh, don't worry Mr. Dr. P," said Ron with a nervous chuckle, "We'll be careful."
Rufus couldn't help but chuckle.
"Well, it's getting late. You two should get some sleep," said John.
Ron yawned, "Yeah, you're right."
"Yep," Rufus said as he yawned too.
"Now remember, Kimmie-cub, I did say it was ok for you and Ronald to sleep in the same bed as long as you don't-", said James before Kim cut him off.
"Don't worry, Dad. It's just that me and Ron have been through a lot tonight. We could use a little more time together," said Kim.
"We understand Kim," said Anne, "You two have been through a tough time and at this point there is nothing we could do to separate you two."
"Thanks, Mom," said Kim.
James reluctantly nodded in agreement, "Just be careful, you two."
"The award for Best Young Author goes to...Iycewing!"
Anna scanned her eyes around for Iyce but she was not present in her seat. One of the stagehands came up and whispered in her ear.
"Ohh... It has been brought to my attention that Iyce had to leave after the intermission period due to her having a stomach bug from the food she ate. So as per the rule of the Fannies, we'll deliver the Golden Rufus to her by mail. It was an honor to be presenting the award, and I will be back later with a tap dance for all of you."
And with that, Anna left the stage to get ready for her big tap-dancing number.
While the audience continued to applaud the results for Best Young Author, Betty Director came up to where the Lipskys were sitting. She was standing with two fellow Global Justice agents at either side of her.
"Agents Sheila and Drew, there has been a breach in security!" Betty exclaimed.
"But Dr. Director, how can that be? We've put every single audience member through security!" Drew exclaimed. "The audience would be pretty angry if we forced them to go through security again. We could have a riot on our hands!"
Drew paused after his declaration, and he and his wife smirked at one another.
"I think we should explain further in the downstairs area so that no one else would hear us," Betty said in a hushed voice.
"Really? Every year this happens..." Sheila muttered.
The Lipskys stood up and followed Betty and the two GJ agents.
Meanwhile, BCB returned to the stage with a slight wobble on her roller blades to provide the scoop on the next award.
"Our next awards presenter is a longtime Kimmunity veteran of thirteen years, writer of fifty-two KP stories, including 'Love of Balance'and'So Not the Drama', and winner of four Fannies Awards, please welcome Michael aka Eddy13!"
With a wave to the audience, Eddy13 stepped up to the podium.
"Thank you! Thank you!" he said gratefully into the mic. "It's good to be back as a presenter. Who knows, maybe one year, I'll end up being a presenter the same time I'm up for another award. That is every Kimmunity's member's dream, right? Ah, but let's move on." Clearing his throat, he continued. "It's truly a testament to how great Kim Possible is even after thirteen years since ending. Not only is it still a strong fandom, but it's still pulling in new fans to this day, thanks in part mostly to Disney's new streaming service. This award is dedicated to the fans who ended up making a big splash while getting their feet wet in this amazing fandom we call the Kimmunity." After a brief applause, Eddy13 continued.
"The nominees for Best New Author are..."

Drakken ran to his wife's side "Stephanie, you need to calm down." He urged, holding her hands in his own.
Shego started to shake, tears falling from her eyes. "Drew, I'm radioactive, from the comet. Who knows if this kid will be okay?"
Drakken's thick brow furrowed in confusion, "What? No, you're not. Who told you that? I've tested your DNA…. There weren't any mutations or deletions."
"You tested me?!" Shego screeched, feeling violated and ripped her hands away from his.
"Yeah…. I wasn't going to hire you if you were radioactive. You'd be a liability to me." He replied as a matter-of-factly. "Why are you so afraid?"
"I'm not a good person, Drew! I'm mean, I'm selfish…"
"But we had Athena…" Drakken interjected before she could put herself down too much.
"Athena was a robot! With preprogrammed memories that we just turned on one day and if my mind serves me, we were pretty crappy to her!" Shego was now sobbing.
"But you're also brave and loyal. If anyone waited until they were perfect to have kids, humanity would have gone extinct eons ago." Drakken took some tissue from a desk drawer. He gently moved Shego's hair out of the way and dabbed her tears, "We'll take this one day, one step at a time together, just like everything else we've done together. And if anyone says anything, I just use them as a science experiment," Drakken said, a maniacal glint in his eyes which Shego loved.
"Promise?" Shego asked, feeling only an iota better about the situation.
"Promise. We'll get through this together and our family will thrive! We've conquered so much worse together." Undeniable love shined in his eyes.
Shego managed a small smile. Maybe it wouldn't be too bad; not great but not terrible either.

A couple minutes passed as she followed the man through twisting corridors and security doors that took a mere sweep of a card to open. It was soon clear he'd lost his sense of direction by his frown. "You don't know what you're doing, do you?" she whispered behind him, making him jump. "You didn't think this through at all."
"I – I did too," he hissed back. His hands flailed in the air, gesturing at her in frustration. "I just wasn't expecting – augh!" He bit back a curse and skulked ahead, hands still flapping. "You were supposed to be a thing. Like a gun or something."
"Sorry I'm inconvenient." She rolled her eyes. "What do you plan to do with me?"
The man glared over his shoulder and swiped his pass card again. "Keep moving."
She wasn't one to be rushed, and certainly not by a bumbling idiot. He looked about ready to throw her over his shoulder to speed things up, but she doubted he had the muscle to do so. Then again, she'd lost quite a bit of weight recently. She was probably as light as an armful of kindling by now. She certainly felt like a walking stick anyway.

"We've gotta move before they send a fighter after us," Shego said, breaking his focus.
"Relax, Shego," he said calmly, tucking the hard drive away and hugging his knees to his chest.
"Relax when we could get shot down by the Russian army any second now!?"
"You'll take care of them," he said confidently, dismissing her with a wave of his hand.
Shego stared at him for several seconds, and then increased their speed.
In the helicopter, the journey to the airport was less than five minutes and flying below the radar, they had no difficulty until they were close to arriving. After some glowing persuasion, they agreed on crashing the chopper and jumping out into the snow to avoid having to deal with ATC, and getting on a plane as planned after that.
The jump went fine, and Drakken poked his head out of the thick snow drift just in time to see the column of flames rising from the crashed helicopter. He began shivering and rubbed his arms again, a satisfied smile on his face.
"What?" Shego said as she looked around cautiously for anyone who may have seen their escape.
"Another brilliant success! After we get these plans on the black market, it won't be long before I'm ruling the world!"
Shego dug out of the snow and stepped in front of him, still looking around.
"Aren't you getting a little ahead of yourself?"
Drakken smirked as she shook the snow out of her hair and adjusted her goggles.
"Maybe," he said mischievously.

"I'm glad you are. Thank you. I've never liked Bonnie and neither did Kim…." Ron begins as he sighs. "….I just don't understand it. Normally Kim can handle Bonnie's bullying and torment. Usually, Kim ends up winning their arguments, but for some reason, the bullying has been affecting her badly….
Hearing this from Ron both her parent's frown. Mrs. Possible says, "That's because people forget Kim is also human. Bullying can affect anyone even if their catchphrase is, I can do anything…." Mrs. Possible explains trying to not cry again. She sighs and adds. "….And because of that, Kim was probably scared to speak to anyone about what was happening in fear of it possibly ruining her reputation…" Mrs. Possible finishes letting another tear roll down her cheek. She wipes it away. How was Kim's sings not obvious? They should've caught on when Kim told them about the hate site, but they didn't…
Silence follows them all again and soon a doctor comes out with the same nurse from earlier. Seeing them come out, the Possible's, Ron, Monique and Felix stand. Once they stand, the doctor and nurse come over to them. Both of them holding gentle smiles.
"We did a final look over today." The doctor began with a sigh. "All her vitals keep being normal and nothing out of the ordinary has changed. We'll keep her for one more night just for extra caution and to make sure she's really okay. If tomorrow she is fine and doesn't hold thoughts of suicide again, we will discharge her and she can go home." The doctor finishes with a smile.
Everyone sighs in relief and nods. Mr. Possible speaks and replies. "Fair enough, thank you, doctor, for everything." Mr. Possible finishes with happiness at the news of his daughter being able to go home soon.
The doctor nods and replies, "Your welcome. Just again, make sure all medication cabinets are locked. Monitor her use of the internet at home and let heal from school for a few weeks. It'll help in the long run and make sure if she's down, tries and talk to her. Talking always helps too. That's all I ask from you guys. Kim just needs reassurance and reminders how much she is loved by those close to her." The doctor finishes as each person there for Kim at the moment.
With final nods, the doctor leaves and so does the nurse. Now, all the family and friends can do is just keep checking on Kim throughout the night and wait till she is able to go home…

"Karaoke," said Shego. She looked at the grinning man next to her and scoffed. "That's where you go? You go to karaoke."
"Ohm, when I get around to it," said Drakken. She saw his smile fade quickly and he frowned. "Not every Friday or something."
"I'm not the karaoke type," said Shego with a shrug.
"Nonsense, Shego. Everyone can karaoke. Some shouldn't...but they do. Karaoke on Friday is not a competition," said Drakken with a smirk. As the moment drew on, his grin broadened. "But I would win if it was."
"Someone's a little conceited," said Shego with a smirk. She shrugged. "Maybe."
"Free appetizer, entertainment, half-off drinks," said Drakken. She shrugged again. "You're a decent singer so..."
"Decent?" asked Shego with wide eyes. "I think I'm better than decent."
"I mean, you're better than most there," said Drakken. She saw him smirk as they headed inside. "But not me."
"Did you just throw shade?" asked Shego as Drakken casually walked in the lair. He turned around and shrugged.
"Slim shade..." He walked out of view.
"Oh my..." Shego scoffed and smirked. "Okay, I see how it's going to be."

"Yes, I've noticed. That building there," he paused, pointing up and ahead of them, "is where my apartment is."
It looked miles away, and yet deliciously close. She just wanted to lie down, although she was starting to wonder if anyone had even noticed she was gone. She was miles from home, about to go sleep in some random college kids' apartment. For all she knew, he was a serial killer. Or worse. And yet, maybe nobody cared enough to think about the danger she could be in.
"I want food," Shea said, mostly as a way of interrupting her spiraling thoughts. Though once she said it she realized she could eat.
"That isn't my problem."
"Can't we go in there?" She pointed off to her left, at a brightly lit up 24-hour diner.
Drew pulled a face, as soon as he saw where she was asking to go. "Oh, certainly, if you'd like to spend twenty dollars on undercooked chicken, or molding pancakes. I'm not eating there."
"Well, where can we eat?"
"Do you have money?"
"I mean… not really."
"Then you can go a night without eating! I barely have enough to feed myself, let alone you."
She wanted to be angry with him, she really did, but even so, she couldn't be. She knew that wasn't his fault. "At least I'm not just some runaway brat anymore."
"Oh don't worry, you still are." After Shea didn't respond he sighed and they lapsed back into an oddly not uncomfortable silence for the remainder of their walk.
"My, I...didn't realize how many new Drakgo writers there were..." Eddy13 commented. In the wings, GT and BCB were waving wildly at their friends in the audience who were all grinning back, waiting with bated breath. "And the winner is..." Eddy13 continued as he tore open the envelope, "...Gothicthundra!"
GT rolled out from the wings, her green-taped rollerblades sparkling as her dramatic skirt billowed behind her on her way to the podium where she accepted her fourth Golden Rufus.
"Oh man...what a trip. Gosh I remember a time when KP was just airing and I made my first attempt to join the fandom... But those were dark days and so now that I can finally write in a fandom I have loved from a distance for a long time...thank you... And thank you for letting me continue."
GT rolled away on her rollerblades faster than she had after her previous wins. BCB smiled after her friend as she stepped out from the wings.
"Congrats to GT and also to Iyce. We hope she feels better soon!" BCB said, with a sympathetic look. Once again, the Kimmunicator beep sounded.
"And that means we are going to break right now, but when we return, we'll present the twenty-sixth, twenty-seventh, and twenty-eighth awards, so stay tuned!"
