Kevin turned on the webcam and sat in his desk chair with a heavy sigh.

"Heya Lu. It's been a while since I've recorded one of these, and I'm sorry. Last I checked it was the beginning of the month, and now it's nearly over."

Casey and Lucy clung to each other as they were lead out of the underground tunnels. Something growled and Lucy was startled to realize that it was a tiger.

They were at the zoo. Vaguely, Lucy thought back to the trip she had taken her art students on and the panic attack that had taken place. That had been the trigger for her to see out further therapy, which in turn had lead to her running into Kevin and his alters again. Had Lucy not been so distressed, she might've appreciated the poetics of this.

"I'm loosing time. More and more lately. And, I'm starting to get the feeling that...one of these days I'm gonna give the light to someone else...and that'll be it."

As it was, Lucy could do little more than sit in silence as the medic patched her injuries in the back of an ambulance and gave her emergency meds to hold off any further panic attacks until she could get back onto her usual medical regimen.

She gave robotic answers to the police's questions, and when they asked if there was anyone they could call for her, Lucy found herself offering a very faded business card that she always kept in the pocket of her jeans as a source of comfort and luck.

"If that happens, and by some miracle you actually get to see these recordings, I don't want you to feel bad okay?"

In the next state over, a phone rang.

"Manhattan SVU."

"Uh...hi, I'm looking for a Detective Benson?"

Olivia frowned. She hadn't been called that in a while. "It's Sargent actually, and this is she."

"I always figured I wasn't meant for this world, but you have me something to hold onto. Hell, I haven't actually seen you in over a decade and I'm still addressing these video journals to you."

Lucy sat next to Casey in the back of a police cruiser. Neither spoke a word, but they were holding tightly to each other's hand.

"Casey Cooke's guardian is here."

Casey's eyes snapped up at the sound of her name, and her grip on Lucy's hand grew tighter.

"I hope wherever you are, you're happy. You deserve it."

A female officer leaned into the car to address the pair.
"Your uncle's here." She said to Casey. "You ready to go?"

One of the many things Lucy had learned in her time spent with the SVU officers was how much could be communicated with just a look. If the eyes were windows to the soul, alike souls could speak to each other, reach an understanding without a single word spoken.

Casey had not told Lucy why she had the scars that had been revealed in their fight with the Beast, and Lucy had not asked. But the look that Casey was giving her now spoke not just for the scars, but so, so much more.

"And I want you to know that when I do drift off, I will dream about you."

Lucy gave a similar look, nodding her head towards the officer. Perhaps she had similar training to the SVU detectives, but a look of realization crossed her face as she understood the conversation the two were having.

Casey didn't want to go with her uncle. She wasn't safe there. She laced her fingers tighter around Lucy's, her sole defender from the day they'd met, and knew that she was safe here. She wanted to stay with Lucy.

"...it's always you. I love you Lucy."

The look Kevin gave the camera as he clicked to put an end to the recording was a sad sort happy. He was resigned to the fact that he'd never see his friend again, but 'talking' to her helped it feel like she was. And with Lucy around, the world didn't seem so dark.

A/N: Lucy Collins will return in the Glass sequel: Something I Would Have Never Seen.
