"Hulk smash bad Cap!"
Ordinarily Cap never would have taken on the Hulk without some kind of definitive advantage. This would be that time where he hoped that was the case. For the Hulk was coming right at him. And there was no serum way to avoid it now... Here we go...
Hulk was devastating; but much like a toddler. Easily angered and terrified as one. That was the way to approach it. Cap's shield was on his arm and ready to go. Hulk charged right in. Cap didn't deviate. Hulk didn't seem to care either way. Hulk punched. The mighty blow that could shatter mountains struck Cap's shield. It dispersed it; much as the old one had. But Cap could still feel a decisive difference. The new shield did better. And it no doubt being magical was a top reason why.
This was it. Cap went deep inside called forth his angelic power and hoped he could pull a Thanos on him. He crossed him across the jaw. The blow stunned the Hulk and actually knocked him back. Cap was nearly as stunned as Hulk was. Don't stop! Cap leaped up into the giant man's face and whacked him hard across the face with the shield. Cap felt power from within himself go out with the blow. It actually set Hulk to a knee. That fast! It hadn't really felt like Cap had done anything that powerful; but it now appeared that he had.
His now angelic tac sense kicked in. He put a jumping spin kick into the side of Hulk's head and literally laid him out. Other combatants that were actively fighting on the battlefield saw this happen. It even slowed the rhythm of fighting. This is war Steve. No mercy. Hulk struggled to rise. Cap was at his head quickly. He didn't hesitate; much as he had with Wilson. Cap brought his shield down hard on Hulk's face and smashed it on. That was the end of it. Cap felt his life force leave him. Bruce Banner was KIA...
War machine dove in and fired rockets at Cap but his angelic senses kept him ahead. He acrobatically dodged them as they tore up the urban ground around him. Rhodes next fired repulsor blasts as a quick follow up. Cap dodged those and deflected others with his shield. As Rhodes completed his assault dive and began his ascent Cap threw the shield with near perfect timing and strength to go with it. The black Laconian concave disk went straight into Rhodes' suit chest positioned arc reactor. Rhodes' power went out right then there. He crashed into a nearby car. Cap's shield appeared on his arm as this occurred. Now that's a shield!
Cap ran leaped flipped and brought his shield edge down hard atop the back of Rhodes' helmeted head and felt his neck snap. Rhodes too was now dead.
He sensed Spidey coming in from behind. Parker launched his web lines for Cap but Cap flipped out of the way just in time. Parker shot another web line to swing back around. Cap anticipated this; and his angelic sense was greater than even Parker's. Cap's shield was already flying through the air and struck Parker in the back as he sought to angle around. He fell. Parker looked up to see Cap's shield already back on his arm. He couldn't understand how Cap had done that. It defied his scientific knowledge; but there was nothing scientific about it.
Parker fired off a series of speedy web balls but Cap blocked and batted them away; Cap continued to close. Parker tried to rise but the shield had wounded him good. Cap noticed his new ability to focus his power into ultra concentrated bursts of destructive energy. And they were highly effective. Cap wouldn't stop now. Freedom demanded it.
Parker next fired web lines onto the front of Cap's Spartan shield; Cap spun around before Parker could yank them back and used the shield's edge to sever them with a solid downward cutting blow.
Cap was near the panicked young man now. Parker pulled off his mask; he held up pleading hands. "Cap! It's me; Peter Parker! Remember!" "I do Queens. I do. But this is different now. You've sided with the enemy. There's no going back now. Liberty or death." Parker's eyes widened. "Please-!" Cap threw the shield right into Parker's head and killed him too.
All casualties of war. All needed. Only freedom and God are forever...
"You murdering son of a bitch!" yelled iron man; repulsor blasts striking Cap's back and sent crashing into a building wall. The energy blows had been potent. They'd wounded Cap... but he now felt his angelic powers kicking in. They had no set definition pattern. Heaven was their power. Only God was his weakness; and God hadn't stopped him to date. I don't think he's gonna either...
He knew Tony. He'd wanna rub it in; prove he was better and right. That was Tony Stark. Cap would play the part; war is deceit as the jihadi playbook said. Sun Tzu said similar. And Cap was a proven master of deception; of war. That was his craft.
Tony flew into the ruined structure hovered above Cap and dissolved his helmet; gloved hand glowing with lethal intent to discharge a repulsor blast right into Cap's face. Tony's emotions hit him hard. "What happened to you Cap? Jesus. What happened to you?" Cap pretended his wounds were worse than they were. "I learned from Thanos..." Tony's emotions got the better of him; he shook his head and muttered words of rage. "Then you can join him."
Tony fired the blast right at Cap; but Cap's shield was up. The blast struck the shield; but the shield deflected the blast back right for Tony's exposed head; and destroyed it. His headless armored body dropped atop the rubble. Iron man was gone. Cap stood. He battled on.
