"I will steer the Gantrithor into a collision course with the Overmind! If I can channel enough of the dark templar's energy through the hull of the Gantrithor, I should be able to bring swift death onto the cursed abomination." A voice booms and all Izuku can see is bright blue void energy.
"An unfortunate memory." Izuku murmurs as he leaves his meditation. It was a most inconvenient memory as well as the swarm had finally observed sentient life in the galaxy. Relatively close and the same approximate radius from the center of the galaxy; this system had eight planets and its third was a continental world with great forests and noticeable space traffic. For now Izuku had ordered his overlords to infest a moon of one of the further gas giants and act like a semi sentient space born race while Abathur and Melissa worked to find a language within the many radio signals and broadcasts emanating from the planet.
"It's a lot like Earth isn't it." Ochako says softly as she sits next to the troubled Izuku.
"It is, far too much for my taste." Izuku says irritably.
"You think that means some other race terraformed worlds and planted humans on them?" Ochako asks, remembering the few images from overseers that noticed Humans on the planet.
"It's possible, but it leaves the question of how they are so far ahead of us technologically?" Izuku asks, "Even with the dark ages and the dawn of quirks, it's only been several thousand years since humans walked on Earth."
"They may have found some alien tech and used it." Ochako argues.
"Still, it would require at least an industrialized world to even understand the concept of space flight." Izuku says thoughtfully.
"It may be best to leave that for when we translate the language." Ochako says standing quickly. "We need to get back to work, I have an internship offer I need to prepare for and you have several infestations to plan."
"Indeed, hopefully adding Nezu will speed up our translation efforts. I would like our first contact to be on our terms." Izuku says standing as well.
"To work then!" Ochako cheers and skips off to the nydus network.
All Might, Gran Torino, Recovery Girl and Nezu are gathered inside the Evolution Pit, as they chat amongst themselves Abathur bursts out of his tunnels and Izuku enters the main door.
"Glad you could all make it on this important day." Izuku says happily looking at the varied emotions around the room.
"Someone has to be here in case something goes wrong." Gran Torino says irritably.
"And that's why I am here." Recovery Girl adds with a smirk.
"Indeed, it is a most fascinating occasion." Nezu says as his eyes dart from pulsating sac to bubbling pool and back.
"This has a bit too much of an evil vibe for me." All Might mumbles nervously. "I think I will postpone again."
"I'm not traveling across the country again for this, Both myself and Sasaki have given our opinions, and if that grouch approves it will be fine." Gran Torino loudly argues.
"Yes, since Nighteye is happy you should get going, they won't let me in without you." Nezu encourages.
"For good reason!" Recovery Girl shouts, "The Swarm is corrupted enough without you entering it unchecked."
"I should fire you for that." Nezu says playfully.
"And get another nurse? Sure." Recovery Girl retorts.
"Procedure ready. Start Now." Abathur interrupts.
"Alright, Alright." All Might says before jumping into the prepared cocoon, 'like a hero.'
"That was stupid." Recovery Girl says once the cocoon closes.
"Once you get to know him, he's really just a silly uncle isn't he." Izuku observes.
"More like an overgrown meatheaded child." Gran Torino says before the whole group descends into laughter, except Abathur, who was much too busy.
"Splicing One for All." Abathur says, and the group ceases its chatter and gathers around the cocoon.
"Is it working?" Nezu asks.
"The quirk seems to be accepting this move for now." Izuku says, his eyes glowing with zerg energies as he focuses on the transferring essence.
"Adaptation complete." Abathur states and he moves back in anticipation.
"I've got something else as well, a strange awakening of Ochako's spare body." Izuku reports with some concern.
"Possible quirk feedback loop." Abathur theorizes.
"No, the energy connection is too faint." Izuku observes.
"Can you explain what is going on?" Recovery Girl asks loudly.
"Not really, we are not sure. But All Might's presence has stabilized within the hivemind. He is fine and should awaken any second now. We can deal with the externality after he is awake." Izuku says bluntly.
As Izuku finishes the cocoon shakes slightly and golden light begins erupting from within. The spectators retreat quickly and prepare for the inevitable mess.
With a crackle of power the cocoon erupts and a blur leaves it's wilting remains. "I AM HERE! Stronger than ever and ready to fight for Justice!" All Might shouts loud enough to shake the entire cavern and set off multiple seismometers. Kyoka would complain for weeks despite being all the way at UA.
"Oh shut up, and let me examine you!" Recovery Girl shouts angrily as she wishes she could heal her own ringing ears.
"Fine, but I'm going heroing after this." All Might insists.
"Nope, you are going to the moon for training." Izuku orders, "You have no idea how strong you are now and I'm not letting you accidentally kill someone."
"He's right, you will have plenty of time for that now that you don't have to rest." Gran Torino lectures.
"Fine." All Might says, deflating slightly.
"Hi Toshi!" A female voice says as Ochako's body skips into the room.
"Young Uraraka?" All Might questions.
"Clearly not." Nezu answers.
"Nope!" the body says before skipping up to All Might and "Boop." on his nose.
"Nana?" Gran Torino asks with shock and some confusion.
"Way to ruin it." Nana says with an exaggerated pout.
Everyone merely stares in shock at the reincarnated? hero.
"What? It's almost like you've never seen a personality stored in a quirk return to the mortal realm before." Nana says with a giggle.
"It's nice to meet you. I'm Izuku Midoriya, The Overmind." Izuku says neutrally before walking forward and extending his hand.
"A pleasure, Nana Shimura, this oversized muscle brains predecessor." Nana responds, taking his hand. "At least one of you has manners." she taunts, turning to the open mouthed older heroes.
"We will have to get you your own body at once." Izuku says, gesturing to Abathur who moves forward.
"Memory found, adjustments and abilities available, must choose." Abathur says bluntly, pulling everyone out of their stupor.
"Are we just going to move on from her just reviving?" Recovery Girl asks.
"It's easier that way." Izuku answers. "She did explain most of it already, and it's weird to talk to her in Ochako's body."
"We can agree with that." Recovery Girl says.
"It's obvious anyway." Nezu says, "One for All absorbed the personalities of its former users."
"And Quirks." Izuku interrupts.
"Really? Fascinating." Nezu says, salivating over the mystery. "And now One for All, or perhaps Shimura, found a way to revive them through the swarms hivemind."
"That's probably true." Izuku agrees.
"I saw an opening and ran for it!" Nana shouts from her conversation with Abathur, "I didn't want to stay with those old vengeful do gooders any longer!"
"I see." Nezu says with interest.
"Well that's settled, let's focus on All Might." Izuku says turning to the still frozen hero.
"Let me join!" Gran Torino shouts, "I'm not letting that menace be unleashed without me in my prime to keep her in check!"
"Alright, I'll have Abathur design and grow you a body alongside Shimura." Izuku agrees, "Then we can get to Principal Nezu."
"Quickly I hope, I have so much I want to do." Nezu says with excessive anticipation.
"Of course, now, tell us about your changes All Might." Izuku says.
"Uh, yes, I have built up my body to Plus Ultra standards and that's it." All Might says slightly deflated.
"Well, that's all you've ever needed and I'm sure changing this far into your hero career would be difficult." Izuku says kindly, trying and failing to pacify Gran Torino.
"That's it!?" Gran Torino shouts, "So many useful abilities and quirks and all you do is go back to your old self plus a bit more brute force? Training! Once I'm in you will be training until you beat me or decide to get more improvements."
"Please no..." All Might begs.
"Too bad." Izuku says, wiping a fake tear.
"I don't heal idiots." Recovery Girl adds.
"Oh no." All Might wimpers. 'Maybe I should get the Torrasque reincarnation.' he thinks before going through the many options to improve himself. 'Flight might help.'
Ochako was quite confused, one moment she was resting with Tsu and Nejire and the next she was floating away, without even using her quirk. She was so distracted by her theories about how this could happen that she floated into low orbit and nearly crashed into an orbiting satellite. She wouldn't be living this down anytime soon.
"I got a call from Sir Nighteye asking for you." Inko says some time later.
"I hope he's not mad about me sending All Might and Shimura, in an Ochako body to the moon to fight until she has her own body." Izuku mumbles as he jogs into Inko's office, greeting Rei on the way in.
"The Overmind speaking." Izuku says as he picks up the phone.
"Yes, Izuku I have a need for your services." Sir says urgently.
"What can I do for you?" Izuku asks kindly.
"We've uncovered some critical information about a yakuza plot and have learned of an unfortunate victim. While I have asked some other heroes for assistance, your swarm would be invaluable in the coming mission." Sir dictates clearly.
"Just tell me when to show up, I owe you for helping convince All Might after all." Izuku agrees.
"All Might joining you is for the best, you owe me nothing." Sir replies kindly. "But now is not the time for small talk, we have a meeting tomorrow."
"I will be there, should I bring All Might?" Izuku asks.
"No, he would draw too much attention, if we really need him you can brief him over your hivemind and get him here in an instant if I'm correct?"
"I can, and I understand, I will see you soon." Izuku answers.
"Excellent." Sir says before ending the call.
"Mom! I have work to do, cancel any appointments with the martian contractors." Izuku shouts as he leaves her offices.
"Yes dear, do find time for them soon though, they could use the moral boost of seeing the big boss." Inko says kindly before stepping back into her office.
"Bye Izuku." Rei says kindly.
"Good night Rei." Izuku replies.
'Joan, Ochako, prepare the swarm. We may have a job in the next few days.' Izuku sends as he navigates the nydus network.
'I was going to ask the same thing, Ryukyu implied something interesting will happen soon.' Ochako returns.
'Our readiness state will increase Overmind.' Joan replies.
AN: Surprise Nana, that's something I've been planning for some time, the interaction between One for All and Abathur a while back was a slight hint, but probably not enough to give it away.
Might as well address the elephant in the room, I haven't been uploading much recently, this is for several reasons, One is this stories long chapters and my own higher standards with it mean it often takes 3 sessions to get one chapter done, compared to 1 for everything else. And I have been rather down lately for reasons I won't discuss here, but may add to my profile later. Expect smaller chapters from now on, but I will strive to continue improving quality. Don't worry, the plot itself is pretty well prepared, it's just writing it and managing the ever growing pile of notes, (the spreadsheet goes to column AC and row 56...).
As I grow closer to revealing the Sci-fi universe this is in, noting the only hint so far is the horseshoe crab shaped objects in the cave, I will add that anyone who wants to write this into another universe can ask me once it is revealed, I sadly lack the knowledge of many excellent universes where this would just slide in beautifully.
Some answers: the swarm can fight underwater to some degree, but their armor is too heavy so they sink. True underwater optimization hasn't occurred since no real threat exists down there.
Ochako is more than worthy of inheriting One for All, while she lacks the grand goals and ambition of other characters, it's the will that counts. You can dream of being President, but if you just sit on your chair and dream how worthy are you? Or you can dream of living a normal middle class life and put your body and soul on the line to fight for it? Who's the most worthy person? I'd argue for the passionate hard worker every day, even if I myself am more of a dreamer. That's why I believe in Ochako, she has the passion for it. end rant
Blitz Brood is the product of Mina Ashido and Eijiro Kirishima's view on combat and warfare. Building off of their successful zergling rush they have decided for an all-in attack strategy. Focusing entirely on offense, using swarmlings allows them to turn even surprise attacks by the enemy into counter attacks in moments with their overwhelming numbers and fast gestation. These hordes are supported by splitter banelings and corpser roaches, building their numbers to even greater heights. Noxious ultralisks bring the muscle to their offensives, breaking through anything numbers can not conquer. Standard hydralisks provide their only anti air and ranged support and any morphs have been discarded as too slow for the fast paced nature of their assaults. Kirishima himself joins the front as a tank for his forces, assisting the main anvil at taking down hard points and important targets, while Mina uses her mobility to create a hammer of swarmlings crushing their foes in a tide of flesh.
