Hermione dodged an attempt from Ron to get her under the mistletoe after dinner, avoiding Ginny's stares and stealing away up to the library so she could have some moments to herself. Hadn't he just been on again with Lavender before they left for the holidays? Granted she hadn't really been paying as much attention to the boys as she usually did, so anything was possible. She was still there with them in person of course, but her thoughts were usually miles away. There were times it felt everyone seemed to be watching her, but that had to just be a little bit of paranoia catching up with her.

She tried to figure out what would have set the other girl off, wanting to have a longer talk with her, but there hadn't really been time without other people around. Maybe something had happened outside that she didn't notice, or… She bit her lip and quickly faced the bookshelves, ceasing her muttering when the door opened and praying it wouldn't be anyone she didn't want to face. If she kept hidden back here in the corner just so and stayed very still, perhaps they would take what they needed and leave without noticing her.

The footsteps came closer and she was just about to turn around when strong hands grabbed her waist and spun her around. She nearly drew her wand but the quiet groan that vibrated against her lips was distinctly Severus. Relief swelling over surprise she threw her arms around his neck and pulled herself up against him, taking the sweet seconds that they could before someone else came looking for them. She had been strong all day and now that the dam of restraint was crumbling, her tongue was just as insistent as his own to make its claim.

Severus knew if they were gone for very long someone would come looking - not for him, but certainly for her. Most of the others would certainly have preferred he never showed up at all, and he couldn't say he was thrilled to be around them either. But for what it was worth, things hadn't been entirely horrid. Lupin had kept Black from spouting off anything that couldn't be ignored, likely because they wanted to keep some sort of facade up around Potter. Merlin forbid he see them as they actually were. In this moment none of that mattered though, and he allowed his hands to roam as they'd been unable to do all day.

Oh, she had teased him. Fingertips brushing the back of his neck in passing, right in front of all of them. The fear of getting caught had morphed into a very strong need to shift in his seat and go in search of Arthur's study to compose himself. From the glance she had given him in the doorway the little flirt knew exactly what she was doing as well. It was just his luck that the man had found him there and started rambling on about this or that object - at the very least he could be grateful the drabble had chased away any lingering effects.

Now it was her turn to pay. Smirking against her lips he dropped his own down to the side of her neck, not risking a mark but playing with her skin between his teeth all the same. The sigh of desire sent a wash of warmth over his shoulders and right down his spine, as well as her hands doing everything they could to clutch him tighter. "Please… I've been good…" Her whisper was as insistent as her hips rocking towards his own, pulling a heavier chuckle from him as he remembered the request.

"Hm, and I suppose you think you deserve a reward, don't you?" He pressed her further into the shelves before drawing back, just enough to sweep her up in his arms altogether. She laughed and held tightly to his neck, still afraid of even the smallest height after all this time. He rolled his eyes, certain she knew he would never let her fall. But considering how nicely her hold pressed her breasts against his chest, he certainly wasn't going to complain about it.

Hermione swallowed the noise that threatened to escape her throat as he settled between her legs, showing far more control than she had to roll back against her. What she would have given to have the courage to wear a dress or even a skirt, but she hadn't wanted anyone to make comments about her dressing up. Merlin forbid Sirius think it was for him, but the seam of her jeans seemed to provide just the right amount of friction anyway. "Oh yes, please." She licked her lips and lifted her head to capture his again, hooking one leg over his lower back so he couldn't get away so easily.

He pinned her wrists above her head, withholding the pleasure of touching him but granting so much more as his body moved against hers. She refused to be completely denied, using the leverage of her shoulders digging into the cushions and one foot finding its hold on the floor to push up against him more. With a grunt he did release them if only to let his larger hands roam everywhere else they could reach, holding her in place while hers fell down to capture both sides of his face as they kissed.

He had just started inching her sweater up when the handle on the door started jiggling, causing them both to freeze in panic. Brown eyes stared wildly up into black ones that were just as panicked, though thank the gods Severus seemed to have locked the door on his way in. Scrambling to her feet she smoothed down her clothes, trying to figure another way out when he firmly took hold of her shoulders. Without making a sound he lifted one finger to his lips, gesturing towards the door before stepping back and disillusioning himself. Praying her face wasn't too flushed she took a few deep breaths and went to the door, barely managing not to wince as Remus crossed his arms and stared her down.
