CHAPTER 25: FACE TO FACE
When Katsuro and Tomoe finally fell asleep, Kagome had refused to let them go. Sesshomaru offered to put them to bed in their joined bassinet, but she growled at him. Not out of malice. More like a plea, basically begging him not to take them from her arms. He didn't argue. Sesshomaru wanted his sons with him as well.
Sesshomaru was still sitting behind her with a tight hold on her waist. As he buried his nose in the crook of her neck over his mating mark, he took in the change in her scent.
Kagome felt a low rumble in his chest as his clawed hands went to her taut abdomen.
"It would seem that you are indeed pregnant once again, My Love." He whispered against her skin. His warm lips brushed over the mark and a shiver ran down her spine.

"Do you think that Kai and Inuyasha will find him...?" She asked. Sesshomaru could tell that she was worried and scared.
"Have faith in them. Kai has yet to fail me and he has been in my employ for over a century." Kagome relaxed at hearing those words. Kagome laid the boys down between her legs and leaned back against Sesshomaru's chest. Her eyes were heavy and she could feel sleep taking hold. She was exhausted and truth be told...so was Sesshomaru.
"Sleep, My Love. I give you my word that they will be where they are now when you wake." He said gently in her ear and let out a soothing rumble that lulled her into a deep sleep.
Sesshomaru woke to hearing his pups fussing and Kagome picking them both up. Her kimono was already open and their boys latched to her breasts without any further fuss. He watched as a beautiful smile graced her lips as she held Katsuro and Tomoe even closer to her person. He rumbled low in his chest approvingly and leaned into Kagome, placing his chin on her shoulder. Watching his sons suckle at his beautiful mates breast made his heart swell and a small smile formed on his face.

Kagome noticed that the twins had fallen back asleep, so she got up and laid them down in their bassinet, tucking them both in gently. Sesshomaru watched from their futon with a small smile.
When Kagome straightened, she pulled the obi sash from her kimono loose as she turned to face Sesshomaru. He pulled his knee up and draped his arm over it while leaning back on his free hand and watched her intently. His eyes roamed over her beautiful body when she pulled her kimono over her shoulders, letting it pool on the ground around her feet. Sesshomaru's eyes glazed over with pure lust as he watched her hips sway seductively when she walked over, stopping between his legs.
With both his feet on the floor, he leaned forward, letting his hands glide up and down her legs as he planted feather light kisses on her lower abdomen where his new pup was growing. Kagome's hands tangled in his silky locks and smiled down at him.

Pulling away from her slightly, he pressed his forehead against hers with his eyes closed.
"I love you..." Kagome whispered.
"And I you..." Sesshomaru whispered back, keeping his eyes closed. He laid his cheek down on her chest and stretched his legs out as his arms went around her neck and the back of her head. Kagome smiled and wrapped her arms around his shoulders while she kissed the top of his head.
She felt his chest let out a low, soothing rumble and his breathing evened out.
He had fallen into a deep sleep.
Sesshomaru was pissed. It had been two weeks and somehow Menomaru was able to evade Inuyasha and Kai. They were the best trackers in the entire country but they still couldn't find him.
Kagome had surprised him when she suggested that he send troops to Menomaru's manor and seize it. She had told him to take Menomaru's family as her prisoners. Honestly, he couldn't be more proud. She was really embracing the role of a ruler. She was good at it too.
Kagome made sure that their troops were very well taken care of. With over three hundred thousand loyal men surrounding the shiro, they had to be sure that there was enough food and supplies to last throughout the rest of winter. Even with being almost a month pregnant, she rose to the challenge and excelled. Kagome even started training with her bow and arrows again. Everyone was impressed with her spiritual powers and also feared her. For one being to be able to hold reiki and some demonic energy within was definitely someone to steer clear from, but everyone respected her.
Kai walked through the tree line with Kikyo, Inuyasha, and their children. As they approached a village, the human occupants started to get nervous at seeing both Inuyasha and Kai. Mostly Kai, only because of how tall he was and the sheer intimidating size of his wings. His piercing eyes fell on a human woman around the age of seventeen and she cowered in his gaze. He frowned as he slowly approached her.
"I assure you, My Lady...I mean you no harm..." Kai said gently to the scared woman and held both of his out for her to see. She double blinked as his softness and took his large clawed hand. He smiled gently at her and helped her up.
"My name is Kai, First General to Lord Sesshomaru of the Western Lands." He turned his head to Inuyasha and motioned for him to approach. "This is Lord Inuyasha, Brother to Lord Sesshomaru of the Western Lands and Second General." Turning back to the intimidated woman, he smiles. "May I ask what your name is?" He asked gently.
"M-My name is Reo, My Lord." She said shyly with a furious blush. Kai found her blush very enticing as he literally towered over her small form. She looked away, blushing even deeper and he chuckled.
"Have you seen a snake demon come through here within the last two weeks? He's rather short, has a slender frame, and black eyes." Inuyasha asked getting straight to the point. He wanted to find the son of a bitch and get back home with his family.
"I have actually. He said he was a lord but was moving out of the country for a fresh start on life. I thought he seemed odd. That was two days ago." Reo said and Kai looked to Inuyasha. He nodded.
"Do you know which way he went or if he said where he was going, Sugar?" Kai said and she blushed so red, he though she would combust.
"H-He w-went East, My Lord." Reo stuttered. Kai leaned down and cupped her cheek gently.
"Thank you, Sugar..." He whispered in her ear and she shivered as her arousal spiked.
Kai noticed that it was getting dark and that they should stay for the night. Inuyasha decided that he would scout for a while and Kikyo with their children left to find the closest inn.
Later That Night
Kai was at the nearby hot springs when he heard someone approaching. His eyes lazily traveled to where this person appeared and was pleased to see that it was Reo. As he stood, the water stopped low at his waist, revealing the planes of his sharp abs and v cut. Reo couldn't help but stare and gulped loudly. Kai chuckled and smiled at her.
"Like what you see, Sugar?" Kai asked playfully and flexed his abs. Her breath hitched and she nodded slowly. "Care to indulge this old man?" He asked curiously and raised a brow at her. As she approached, she slowly took her yukata off and Kai watched her intently. He held a hand out to her and helped her into the hot spring. Her small frame barely reached the middle of his chest before he sat down, letting go of her hand. His eyes wondered over her heated skin. She was beautiful. Her slightly tan skin complimented her black hair and deep brown eyes with breasts that were perfect for her frame.
Reo slowly walked to him and his hands went to her waist. "I've never done this before..." She said shyly.

"Does this mean you want me as your wife?" Reo asked breathless.
"No, it does not, but that does not mean that I do not care." He said, pressing his hand gently to her lower abdomen. "You will more than likely be with child by the end of the night. I always take care of what is mine." He said honestly and she was taken aback by it.
"Does that mean you have many children?" She asked curiously and he shook his head.
"No. I only have two. They're twins and both of them are girls. They turned one hundred and four a few months ago and before you ask, they're mother passed some twenty-five years ago. My girls are hanyou." He stated honestly and she smiled appreciatively.
"How old are you, if I may ask?" She eyed him curiously and he chuckled.
"I'm seven hundred and eighty-nine. I've been serving Lord Sesshomaru for many years and he's always been good to me." Kai said with a smile. "I would like for you to bare me a few children and live with me in my home. I'm a family man and I adore children, though I vowed to myself I would never take a wife again...My first wife was taken from me in the most brutal way possible and I will never put myself through that pain again. I hope you can understand that and not hold it against me." Kai said sadly.
"I understand, Kai...I'm sorry that happened to you and your family. As long as I get to be with you, I'll be happy." She smiled at him and he embraced her.
Inuyasha and Kai were closing in on Menomaru's scent and the closer they both got, the more rage they felt. Coming up to a shipyard, Kai was able to single out Menomaru almost instantly, due to how tall he was. Inuyasha followed his fierce gaze and growled menacingly once he laid eyes on the filth.
Kai grabbed Inuyasha's arm and they were standing before Menomaru in an instant. Imagine the shock on his face.
"Hello, Menomaru..." Said both Kai and Inuyasha as they leaned into his face baring their fangs.

Before this story was deleted, I had a couple of reviews stating that they were confused as to why Kai would let a woman he just met bear him children and live with him. I made his character very kind hearted and he absolutely loves children, purebred or otherwise, he doesn't care. To him, all children are innocent, which they are. He also isn't the kind of man that would abandon any woman that's pregnant with his child, so whether or not he just met them, he would still take care of them, human or otherwise. He won't marry or mate Reo, but he will be good to her until she passes away, and any children they have he will take care of until his dying breath.
