Summary/Disclaimer: Time for another chapter of A Lingering Ember. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own RWBY, Monty Oum and Rooster Teeth do.
(Mistral.)
Desmond had a plan; what fool wouldn't have one when waging war? He would allow them to find him… And then he would hunt them back to their base.
Then he would make sure that they never touched Neo again. Desmond had seen the fear in Neo's eyes. She wasn't used to being captured.
"They got lucky, or someone decided their lien was better then mine." Desmond muttered to himself as he leaned on Melodic Cudgel. "Either way? Someone is going to pay… I don't know who the idiot is who thought it would a good idea to betray us if someone did, but their going to die." Desmond added to himself and tapped his cane on the floor.
If the Spider was smart? She'd back down before he was thrown over the deep end with rage… But knowing her? She was probably gloating, finding this matter to be some personal victory.
"If you think Neo is some simple enforcer?" Desmond questioned, his hands tightening around the cane. "Then I will prove you wrong. I will rip every web you claim to cling to, every single one of your men will BOW by the time I'm done with this place." Desmond muttered to himself as his scroll rang.
"Boss?" Desmond heard as he picked up the scroll. "We heard a small detail. There's a safehouse the Spiders use for sorting loot…. Our guy says we might find something there." Desmond heard which caused him to hum.
It was a trap, the odds of it not being a trap were low… Very low. However? What the spiders didn't know was he would deal with this issue.
"I'll investigate it." Desmond said over the scroll. "See what else you can dig up… Be ready if I need you. The spiders are arrogant, but I doubt their stupid enough not to plan for this." Desmond stated with a shake of his head.
What was he babbling about? Of course, they would have planned for this. They would keep coming and he would keep waring with them.
There would be no end to this destruction that he had brought onto this land… However? Mistral had always been this dangerous at the moment, and that wouldn't change for anything.
"We need to find her… And soon, very soon." Desmond said while humming. "Check anywhere on the downlow. Discreet, out of the way. Knowing them? They keep prisoners in the most downtrodden area they could fathom." Desmond ordered and shut down the scroll.
If the spiders wanted a war so badly? He would visit one upon them. One so horrid and terrible that they wouldn't recover. That they would spend forever pondering why their leader had chosen this fate.
"Hang on, Neo…" Desmond said and checked the coordinates on his scroll. "I'm coming." Desmond stated and shook his head in frustration.
The spiders would end in Mistral. Whoever was smart enough to abandon the banner? They would survive, but their master?
"Whoever is in charge of these spiders is going to wish they stayed on their web." Desmond muttered and shook his head.
(With Neo)
Neo looked at the various spiders around her. They looked smug… Like they were in control.
"Has she given up the goods?" Neo heard from Ms. Malachite as the woman gazed in her direction.
Neo stuck her tongue out which was greeted by a slap to the face. Neo still glared at her with anger and a smug amount of confidence.
"You know, your little boyfriend is busy headed this way." Ms. Malachite pointed out with a smirk. "What? Did you really think I didn't know what was going on? I've been in charge of this area for years, sweetie. The only other people to actually stand up to me is that Branwen clan… And something seems to have driven them out." Ms. Malachite put in as she turned to her guards.
"Keep her ready… He'll come out after you if he gets past the others." Ms. Malachite ordered her guards at the moment. "There will be such things to do when he's dead… I wonder how much your former boss will want when I'm done with you." Ms. Malachite said and straightened up.
Neo raised an eyebrow and gritted her teeth. She knew exactly who Ms. Malachite was talking about. The amusement in such an idea excited her… But there would be plenty of work left to do at the moment… Such details could be left for another time.
Ms. Malachite turned and left her hostage with her captors. Her men were not foolish enough to think Neo wasn't dangerous… She would be useful.
Neo looked at her captors who smirked. They had no idea about the beast they had uncaged.
But they would soon enough when said beast was upon them… And it would be the last mistake they made.
