Leyla had just unleashed a powerful attack upon the witch, but now she was utterly exhausted. She could barely see or hear anything, and she felt as if she was gonna pass out at any moment.
'I'm still getting used to this new spell, practically used up all my reserve power,' she said as he struggled to stay aloft.
Then when the dust cleared, her eyes widened, because to her shock, the witch was still floating there. However, she looked as if he had gained 30 years in one go, her blonde hair had several greys in it, and she had thick wrinkles across her face.
The witch then looked at her wrinkled hands. "I had to use all the mana I stole to shield myself from your attack, and now look at me! I'll just simply replenish myself by stealing your mana."
Leyla panicked. 'I can barely move, let alone fight; I need help.'
The witch swooped down towards Leyla, but then she felt someone grabbing her and, seconds later, found herself lying down on the rooftops. She looked up and could just make out the silhouette of Hiccup.
"Captain Hiccup?" Leyla stared.
"Looks like I arrived just in time," said Hiccup. "I have to say there was quite a spell you just used, but you might want to get your body adjusted to it."
The witch looked at him and smiled. "My, my, so another Magic Knight did manage to escape the Spatial Magic and quite a handsome one at that."
"Flattery will get you nowhere," said Hiccup as he drew his sword. "Besides, I'm already married, and I'm not really into the psychopathic hag type."
The witch glared at him. "No one calls me a hag!"
"If the hat fits," said Hiccup.
"I recognise you now; you're the Squad Captain of the Black Dragons," she sneered. "The weakest of all the Magic Knights, which means you have to be the weakest of all the Magic Knight Captains!"
"Never mistake the worst of the weakest," said Hiccup.
The witch then fired several shells at Hiccup, but he merely stood there with sword in hand.
"Dark Magic: Black Cloak Lightless Slash!" Hiccup roared as he swung his sword.
He then immediately unleashed a powerful dark slash which kept on going and sliced right through her attack. The attack continued and then finally struck the witch, sending her flying across the sky.
Leyla just stared. 'I was barely able to hold my own, but he was able to beat her with a single attack.'
The witch had landed in the street and was too weak to move, but the guardian mages took no chances and trapped in a binding spell.
"Please tell me, I'm beautiful," she said before she lost consciousness.
The moment she did, the last amount of traces of the mana she stole from the townspeople left her body and returned to their rightful owners.
The said owners were all still in the street, and the young man and woman from earlier were looking at one another.
"My dear Eliza," said the young man.
"Yes?"
"I will always love you, young or old."
"And I love you."
The two of them then hugged one another, and it was then that they started to turn back to normal.
"Eliza!"
"My dearest!"
Once again, they hugged one another joyously.
Hiccup then sheathed his sword and knelt down to Leyla. "She's been dealt with, and the mana she stole has returned to its rightful owners."
"Thank you for saving me," said Leyla looking at him.
"I couldn't let a promising young Magic Knight die," he smiled. "You may not be a member of my squad, but we still both took the same oath to protect this kingdom. Though I seem to be making a habit of saving you and your brother."
Leyla looked at him confused, and then suddenly, her eyes widened. "You other Magic Knight that saved us 10 years ago."
Hiccup smiled. "You certainly got the brains of the family; your brother has even figured that out yet."
"I can't thank you enough, sir, if it weren't for you…"
Hiccup held out his hand. "Think nothing of it. And if you really want to show your gratitude, then you need to master that new power of yours."
Leyla looked away at him. "But it's not mine. I only found it by accident."
Hiccup just sat down next to her. "I get the feeling that you were meant to find it. Besides, spirits don't just choose anyone to receive their power. They have to show great potential, and after what I saw today, I know you have that potential."
"Maybe, but I'm starting to think that perhaps I should join the Golden Dawn."
"Because of what some elitist nobles say," Hiccup scoffed. "Look, I was in the same boat as you; a good majority of the nobles in my squad sneered at me, which is why I spend most of my time the Forsaken Realm, but look at me now. I'm not going to say it's going to be easy, but Dak has its own challenges without magic, and now you're facing your own kind of challenge. All you have to do is show the same determination as him."
Leyla knew that he was right; she couldn't just give up. "I will."
Hiccup smiled, but then he looked towards the central district with a grimace. 'I don't sense Thuggory anymore; it looks like that he was their target. I would like to join up with Dak, but I can't just leave her in this sorry state, and who knows if there are any more stragglers, Elliott fight. Dak… Adelaide… I hope the two of you are being careful.'
Meanwhile, King Augustus was just lying down on his bed, looking somewhat annoyed.
"What is that annoying racket out there?" he said, looking at Fishlegs. "Will you order them to quiet down. Don't they know it's my nap time?"
"I'll look into it, sire," said Fishlegs.
Fishlegs didn't waste a single second to leave the chamber and began hurrying down the corridors.
'It is him?' he said, referencing Julius. 'It's about time that he made his return.'
Meanwhile, Leon grabbed the hem of Rades show and glared at him.
"You evil bastard!" Leon roared. "Tell me where you sent my brother!"
Rades merely laughed.
"He's just toying with you," said Adelaide. "He's not the one that casts the Spatial Magic spell, but the pinpoint accuracy of it. No one can pull that off unless they were close to their target. They're hiding nearby."
They all began looking around for any trace of the Spatial Magic user, but they couldn't see any trace of him. All that was around them with the piles of corpses that Dak had slain, but Dak himself remembered hearing a voice close by. He closed his eyes and opened his ears; he then pulled away from Adelaide, much to her confusion.
"Dak?"
Dak towards the nearest pile of corpses and drew his Demon-Slayer Sword. He then swung at the pile of corpses causing several of them to be tossed in the air. That's when one of them suddenly pulled out a grimoire. A split second later, a portal appeared behind it, and it went through it.
"He was hiding beneath a pile of corpses?" Adelaide stared.
"Nice observation skills," said a voice, and they looked up and saw the Spatial Magic user had appeared on top of the roof of one of the buildings. "I had a feeling that you could suss out my magical transformations, but I could never get past you with a shabby disguise. You really are quite the animal."
The mage then pulled off the mask, though even without it, he was still quite pale. "Regardless, it's already over now."
"Over?" Dak frowned.
"What is?" Leon asked.
A portal then appeared above them, and falling through it was Thuggory, and to their shock, they saw that he was missing his right arm. Blood was pouring out of the wound, indicating that he had only lost a few moments ago, and then suddenly, the binding spell around Rades disappeared.
Adelaide screamed, and Leon just stared at his brother in shock.
"No! Thuggory!" he cried.
Adelaide and Leon then promptly rushed towards Thuggory, Dak wanted to join, but he was still losing blood banks to the cursed wounds.
"But how?" he said, looking at Thuggory. "How can someone be that strong? That's just insane."
It certainly didn't make any sense; Thuggory had only disappeared in a fraction of five minutes and came back with a severed arm.
"They… his arm," said Adelaide.
"This can't be… no," said Leon staring down in shock. "You can't die… Thuggory. No, not my brother; he would never lose. He would never lose! Never!"
Adelaide then noticed a grimoire falling from the sky. "It's Captain Thuggory's grimoire! Wait, if his grimoire is still intact, then he's not dead yet." She then quickly bent down and reached for her dress. "We have to stop the bleeding!"
She then tore off a section of her dress and began using it as a bandage.
Leon just stood there in shock. "Impossible… there's no way."
"If only Maple were here, she could fix this," said Adelaide. She then turned her head and saw that his grimoire was slowly beginning to disintegrate. "Leon, your brother's grimoire is starting to disintegrate. Snap out of it; I need your help!"
Leon just stood there in shock. "My brother…"
"Leon!" Adelaide yelled. "Are you just going to let your brother die?"
"Well, Magic Knight, not so sure of yourself now, are you," said Rades smiling as he channelled magic through his hand.
"Pull it together!" Adelaide yelled.
Rades then struck Leon with his magic sending him crashing into a nearby building.
Adelaide just looked at Rades. 'He still has a reserve amount of magic power.'
Rades then began walking his way towards Adelaide and Thuggory. As he did, he couldn't help but remember what Thuggory had said to him once he was captured.
"I like a just heart, do I?" he said. "Well, I have to tell you that I live my life the way my heart has done just right by me. Looks like you have to save your preaching for the afterlife, captain."
"You fulfilled your purpose here," said the spatial mage. "Take your leave Rades, before the other nights arrive."
He then extended his hand and a portal that appeared beneath Rades' feet, which he found quite annoying.
"No way! Not yet!" said Dak clutching his side.
"It's little Dak, right?" said Rades. "Don't worry, I promise to kill you soon enough and make a plaything of your corpse. Something we both can look forward to, you brat!"
Dak then charged towards him with sword in hand.
"Dak!" Adelaide yelled.
'I'm not close enough,' said Dak. 'I'll never make it.'
"Just let him go," said Adelaide noticing the blood dripping from his wounds. 'He's losing too much blood; he has to stop.'
'I can do this,' said Dak. 'Remember what Captain Thuggory told you, "Stay calm and think." There must be some way I can stop him; I just have to figure out what it is.' It was then that he got an idea. 'Spatial Magic is still magic, and I've still got my sword.'
He then pulled out his Demon-Dweller Sword. "I'm going to happen that spell to pieces!"
He then flunked his sword directly at Rades' feet, and the moment the blade made contact with the spatial Magic, it dispelled it.
"The hell?" Rades stared.
Dak then came charging in and struck Rades across his cheek with his Demon-Slayer Sword. Rades cried out in anguish as he placed a hand on his cheek, which was now bleeding.
"That hurt!" he cried. "You're going to pay for that, you little wretch!"
"Unfortunate," said the spatial mage as he created yet another portal.
Dak, however, plunged his Demon-Slayer Sword into the Spatial Magic, causing it to dispel.
"You're whining about a little cut after the pain you caused!" said Dak glaring at Rades. Rades backed away from him, looking utterly terrified. "You want pain; I'll give you pain!" He then punched him right in the face. "You tortured innocent people and laughter the whole time."
He then punched him again.
"Stop it!" Rades yelled. "Those poor innocence you're so worried about, it only proves how weak they are! It is just the natural order. The weaker mage will always succumb to the one with greater power." He then began channelling magic with his palm. "And you, you were born to die, you magic deficient swine!"
He then fired a magical blast, but Dak grabbed his Demon-Slayer Sword and cut right through the spell.
"The natural order, huh?" said Dak, not looking too impressed and then suddenly head-butted him in the head. "Then what you call this? That's right, maybe I don't have any magic, but I'm still the strongest one here, and I will prove to everyone when I become the Wizard King!"
Rades then looked at the spatial mage. "Hey, Valtos! I could use a little help here!"
"I've already done everything I can," said Valtos and looked down at Dak. "Anti-Magic, it's trickier than I expected. Seems like the smartest plan of action is to take care of him first."
He then raised his hand and created a portal.
Adelaide had just finished bandaging Thuggory when she saw Valtos channelling magic through his other hand.
'He's gathering magic power, but from what?' she frowned and then she saw that the portal had appeared directly behind Dak. 'Is he going to attack through a spatial portal?'
Her eyes widened when she immediately realised that he was about to attack Dak while his back was turned. "Dak! Behind you!"
Dak spun around and saw the portal falling directly behind him, but it was too late for him to do anything about it.
"Too late," said Valtos.
He was about to toss his magic through the portal when suddenly a fire tornado shot towards him. He quickly jumped out of the way and saw that the spell had come from Leon.
"Being upset won't help us; always remember to stay calm, right brother?" said Leon panting. "Let's go, Dak!"
"Please be careful," Adelaide pleaded.
Both Dak and Leon were worn out, but together they could easily overpower Rades.
"What should I do?" said Valtos. "I can't afford to lose Rades just yet."
"Get away from me," said Rades as Dak and Leon approached him. "Stay back! Getaway, dammit!"
"How pitiful," said a voice. Everyone immediately stopped what they were doing and looked around for the source of it. "I come here after receiving word from the master, only to arrive and find you fighting this? Pitiful indeed."
Wind then started to surround them, and then suddenly, five mages in white cloaks appeared.
'This magic,' said Adelaide staring at them. 'I've never felt anything so cold.'
'So now there's five of them,' said Leon, not liking their odds.
Dak didn't like their odds, especially since he was still dripping blood. 'This curse that I've got on me, none of the scrapes and scratches will stop bleeding. I'm going to be in serious trouble if I lose any more blood.'
Rades looked at them, annoyed. "I don't remember putting out the call for any extra help!"
"Really?" said a woman wearing glasses. "You might want to try thanking us. You know what would have happened to you if we hadn't shown up to bail you out. You would have been captured, cut open, gutted and skinned alive. And if you are going to get dissected, I want to be the one to do it."
"Will you shut up!" Rades growled and then looked back at Dak and Leon. "Well, now it would seem as if the tables have finally turned you little brats."
Dak merely smiled as he grassed both his blades, and then to everyone's shock, he cut himself directly over his cursed wounds. The moment he did, however, the curses that were over them dispelled.
"Dak!" Adelaide stared.
"What was that?" Leon blinked.
"Small surgery, now I'm ready to fight again," Dak smiled as he began to close on their own. He then looked towards Thuggory. "Watch; I'll prove it to you."
Rades stared at him. 'Seriously? Did he just strike himself with his own blades to dispel the curse? Unbelievable! Who would do that?'
The woman in glasses laughed. "This kid's funny. Can I pretty please dissect him later?"
"Be quiet and focus," said a blonde-haired man with a scar over his face.
"You're no fun."
Then all of the mages began channelling their magic with their hands a minute directly towards them.
"Here's the thing," said Dak. "I've been fighting an uphill battle since I was born, no matter how many guys you've got and no matter what you do to me. I'll cut through every last one of you! You hear me! Let's see what you've got!"
