24.- Epilogue: Brother Trent

"You have your instructions, Brother Trent," Brother Obscura says. "I hereby expel you from the Order of the Lux Veritatis. Your name shall be no more." Trent takes the Oath of Expulsion. The greatest mission and honor a Brother from the Lux Veritatis can take. He has been assigned with the protection of the instruments of the Light, the Periapt Shards. The matter has been discussed before, but the reach of the Cabal had been so extensive across the Old World that even the Lux Veritatis could be corrupted by it. "After all, we are no more than sinful flesh," Brother Obscura would often say.

And so, Brother Trent has been in the run, in the search of new other barren lands. He has learnt about these by reading the memoirs of St. Francis, the priest who started it all. The one who has encouraged all God fearing priests to be the Gatekeepers of the Creation against the Darkness. To find a treasure as unknown as the land of Qualopec, one of the two just rulers of Atlantis, Brother Trent has to create a compass, a navigation device.

On such principle, and using the knowledge of alchemy, Brother Trent blesses a disk including a rotating outer ring and a protruding spike with a piece of his soul. He decides to brand the artifact with the name of Chirugai. A simple navigation tool, that would be the recipient of the will and soul of those who shall succeed Brother Trent. An artifact that would shift its shape in time, to become something else.

And now, the Chirugai is in the hands of an angelic lady. The greatest ally to the cause of the Lux Veritatis. An unexpected gatekeeper, a tomb raider. "Will you inherit our will?" the commonality of the Trents' souls asks. "Yes," she answers. "Well then... We can trust you with finding the lost soul of Kurtis Trent."

"The angel of darkness" ends. In the next chapter "The conjunction of light" starts...
