Adrenaline. This heat running through your veins, this strength. This feeling that you can do anything... Adrenaline is a hormone released from the adrenal glands and its major action is to prepare the body for 'fight or flight'. In prehistoric times, this reaction meant the difference between life and death for humans.

"Its quite appropriate I can assure you. This is the connected room, we don't use it"

It was still early and Rose had invited Jack to hang out at her suite. The mentioned one was still overwhelmed by the opulence of the room. It wasn't as big as the main suite, but it was indeed more private: living room, a queen sized bed on the back and its own bathroom. The room had a beautiful vintage red and white aesthetic highlighted by the sunset lightning coming through the window.

"Will this light do?"

"What?" The young artist had been lost yet again in the details on the decoration.

"Don't artists need good light?"

"Zat is true, I am not used to working in such 'orreeble conditions" He said, in a very bad French accent that drew a smile on the girl's face. Rose walked to one of the drawers and picked something up, then hid it behind her back until Jack was in front of her.

"Merry early Christmas!"

Jack took the gift bag not knowing what to do. It had been so long since he had received a gift, much less a Christmas gift...

"For me?"

"Open it!" Rose giggled, she felt like a kid unwrapping presents under the tree again.

It was a sketching notebook with Monet's Water Lilies in the cover, the kit was completed with the finest art supplies Rose could find.

"Monet!"

"Do you like it?"

"Of course! Look at his use of color here, isn't he great?"

"I know, it's extraordinary" Rose indicated she was going back to the main suite with a light squeeze to the boy's arm. He followed her, not lifting his gaze from what he was holding in his hands, a brand new General 33-piece classic charcoal drawing set, eighteen pencils, twelve drawing sticks, one sharpener, one eraser and one drawing pad. Rose felt Jack's presence from behind as she unlocked the safe, she figured his eyes were on the metal box, so she explained:

"Cal insists on carrying this thing everywhere"

"Should we be expecting him anytime soon?"

"Not as long as the cigars and brandy hold out"

She opened a black velvet box and revealed the Heart Of The Ocean, then held it out to Jack who took it nervously.

"So this is the famous necklace... What is it? A sapphire?"

"A diamond. It is the diamond, the real one"

Jack gazed at wealth beyond his comprehension. What did the legend say?Something about the stars?

"I want you to draw me like your French girls, wearing this"

"Alright"

"Wearing only this" Eyes wide open, he turned to find a devilish smiling back at him. "Why don't you get your stuff ready?" She whispered in his ear, sending chills throughout his body. Still in shock, Jack walked back to the connected suite and tried to process everything that was happening. This morning he was absolutely crushed, the daylight was over but technically it was the next day's evening, and the girl whom he had given his heart had came back for him, kissed him, and asked him to draw her naked. He snapped out of his thoughts just in time; he closed the curtains and managed to turn on all of the lights, fixed the couch so it would meet the light and placed a table in front of a chair to have something to draw on. With the most care in the world, he opened up the package. Smells like new. Meanwhile Rose was upstairs getting ready in front of the mirror, she had just taken a quick shower and shaved any hair she had left. If my ribs and hip bones are showing, then I must be thin right? Right? I'm good. It's all good.

The lock on the door startled Jack. Rose approached him in a black and gold kimono with a cheeky smile on her face. He couldn't take his eyes off her, he was eager.

Rose teased him, playing with the fabric "The last thing I need is another picture of me looking like a china doll" She handed him a coin "As a paying customer, I expect to get what I want." She stood back and unwrapped the ribbon on the kimono. Both hearts almost stopped as the silk fabric met the carpet.

Jack was quick to grab a cushion nearby and place it on his lap. Please, not now. He didn't know if he should look or not, where should he look? He didn't want to look like a pervert by looking, but if he didn't he would make her feel bad. Those 3 seconds felt like minutes. He cleared his throat and stated:

"Over on the bed... the couch!" What am I thinking?

Rose's skin made contact with the cold cushion, it didn't help her nerves at all.

"Lie down" Jack encouraged

"Tell me when it looks right"

"Yeah, put your arm back the way it was... right, and put that other arm up, the hand right by your face there... right, now, head down... eyes to me, keep them on me"
He didn't know how he managed to focus, but he did. "And try to stay still" Rose held back a laugh

Jack sighed before the first line appeared on the paper.

"So serious" Rose teased. He smiled, but came back to his resting face eventually. The blue of his eyes was penetrating, Rose didn't felt observed or judged, she felt safe. He saw her as if he was admiring art. Jack was immersed in his drawing so he couldn't tell time, but Rose did. She became tired of the silence pretty quick.

"I believe you're blushing Mr. Big Artiste. I can't imagine Monsieur Monet blushing"

"He does landscapes" He defended himself, holding his desire to roll his eyes "just relax your face"

"Sorry"

"No laughing" She took another deep breath and focused on not moving. She hoped he was almost done, because her mind started to divague.

Despite his nervousness, he drew with sure strokes, and what emerged was the best thing he had ever done. Her pose was languid, her hands beautiful, and her eyes radiated her energy.

When Jack was done, he signed his initials at the right corner of the page and blew on it, admiring his masterpiece. Rose handed him a leather folder where he could put the drawing. As carefully as he could, he cut the page from the notebook and placed it on the folder. He's crazy if he thought I would let him keep it

"Thank you" Rose sealed her gratitude with a kiss. Jack didn't let go of the drawing that easily, she had to fight back to get it. After she did, she grabbed a notepad from a drawer and wrote on it:

Darling, now you can keep us both in your safe. Rose.

"Whatcha doing?"

"Would you put this back on the safe for me?"

Jack hummed in response. He found his way to the safe of the main suite and placed the necklace in its box. His eyes wandered to the other stuff that was inside, but he didn't touch any of it, he was just curious.

Night had completely fallen by now. Meanwhile Rose put some clothes on, Jack spent time in the balcony, admiring the stars and enjoying the wind. She came back with a black oversized hoodie and track shorts.

"You look nice"

She realized it was the same outfit she had worn the night before boarding, the one that Cal said it was too slutty and that she had to cover up. Rose had made the right choice.

"Miss Rose?" It was Lovejoy, he was on the main suite.

Rose grabbed the artist's arm and pulled him with her into the bathroom despite his whining. Lovejoy entered the connected room when he heard the door close. It didn't take long for him to knock on the bathroom.

"Yes?" Rose answered from the inside. Jack turned on the shower.

"Miss Rose, Mr. Hockley would like you to accompany him at the Crossing Party in the main salon"

"Can you tell him I'm in the shower?"

She wasn't fooling anyone, Lovejoy had seen the art supplies scattered on the table and the furniture arranged differently. Also, why would she use this shower if the other bathroom had all her stuff? At the end, there was nothing Lovejoy could do that wouldn't be considered invading her privacy.

"Yes Miss"

Rose heard the main door close and viewed it as a sign to open the bathroom door. Jack stopped her.

"What?" She mouthed, careful to not utter a sound.

"He's still there" He mouthed back. He took out his phone, opened the camera and placed it under the door for Rose to see. Jack was right.

She blew a gasket when she saw Lovejoy's feet. "Now what?"

"Get in the shower"

"What?"

"He won't leave until he's convinced you're taking a shower"

"Get in with me"

"What?"

Rose was quickly to undress and helped Jack undress too. She pushed him onto the jet of water.

"Shit! This is cold! Shit! Shit! Shit!"

"Shhh. He will hear you! You foulmouthed boy"

"Come here!" He pulled Rose under the water with him. She had exactly the same reaction. Rose managed to open the hot water but it didn't come out immediately. Rose hid from the coldness in Jack's chest, he held her and caressed her back. Their body temperature was opposed to the water. They were too busy to notice Lovejoy had already left.

They came out of the shower and cuddled for a while, until it was curfew and Jack had to leave before they checked the cabins at the RMS.

Both would finally have a good night sleep.
