The conversation that Elvis had had with Charlie the night before had actually been really unusual and he would've found it really awkward if he had in fact been dating Molly but there is a big part of him that is glad he's not especially after that.
He understands where Charlie is coming from especially when he had fucked up after leaving Georgie at the altar but he also knows that Molly isn't likely to take him back either. The thought of her husband sleeping with another woman doesn't sit right with Molly and that's understandable especially when two people tie themselves to each other and then the other is unfaithful.
There is a lot that Molly might've forgiven but sleeping with another woman wasn't one of them.
Elvis pulls up to Debbie's little flat and stares up at the windows for a moment. He was feeling really nervous because he knows that he messed up the first time and dumping her by text was one of the worst things that he could do so when she turned up on his wedding day it felt a little like she was trying to get back at him but it wasn't anything like that at all.
Debbie had been so kind and never once stopped him from having Laura unfortunately his schedule was messed up so there wasn't ever a set rota. So he had Laura when he could but missing out on two years of her life was the worst because he had been there for a very long time and then suddenly he was gone and then came back in to her life. Elvis always wanted to make the world a safer place for his daughter and he would always keep trying for hers and Debbie's sakes.
He got out the car and walked up to the door, he pressed the buzzer and he was let in before he walked to the door that was three doors in and on the ground level. The door was already open for him and he walked straight in. Laura was at school.. another first that Elvis had missed out on.
"Hey, everything alright?" Debbie asked him when she heard the door shut and grabbed another mug from the cupboard for him.
"Not sure, if I'm being honest" Elvis sat down at the kitchen table and heard the kettle boil his brown eyes watching the blonde haired woman in front of him. "Something unusual happened to me last night"
"You and unusual don't go together, so what happened?"
Elvis then told her about the conversation that he had had with Charlie the night before, he even told her about the deal he and Molly had going on because she didn't want Charlie to know who she was really with. He did wonder if Blue knew about it to because if not then this was going to be really awkward. He must ask him the next time they came face to face or even when he rang him because the Captain liked to ring him about the most bizarre things and it left Elvis wondering what the conversation had even been about.
"So he thinks you and Molly are dating and he said about getting her back knowing that you two are together even though you're not?" Debbie actually summed it up pretty well and Elvis was impressed because it was making his head ache just thinking about it all.
"Exactly and I'm not sure what's going to happen but even if they do chat, which is what I suggested, I don't think that Molly will take him back"
"What about you.. would you take Georgie back?"
Elvis shook his head "No, that part of my life is done, I was an idiot for so long that I'm not going down that road again" he picked his mug up and took a gulp of tea then put the mug back down on the table "Plus I've definitely moved on"
Debbie tipped her chin up and then brought it down in a nod and wondered if there was another Georgie in his life that he hadn't told her about, even though they weren't together and he didn't need to tell her anything but they had definitely got closer since he got back and would often come straight here after getting back from a mission. After Molly had got shot he had sat on her sofa and talked with her about everything, he spent Friday and Saturday nights sleeping on the sofa and sometimes would take Laura to school before heading off to work himself. "Well I'm sure whoever it is is a good person" she smiled at him.
Elvis watched her, she was beautiful from the way strands of her blonde hair fell around her face to the way her dark eyes looked down at her cup in her hand. They might've gone out a couple of times in the beginning but he was an idiot to have left her the way that he did. She deserved so much better especially knowing he had got her pregnant and they had Laura. His own family. "I was an idiot" he said out loud to her and watched as she looked up and over at him. "For hurting you, for leaving you when it must've been a scary time and I'm sorry for leaving for two years"
Debbie dropped her eyes once more, it had been hard especially when she had found out that she was pregnant and knowing that he wanted to be with someone else. She hadn't known that the day she turned up was right before his wedding. She didn't know anything about him until she had knocked on his door and told him about Laura. Debbie had seen the hurt look in his eyes when she said that they had created a baby. He told her that he would do anything to be part of Laura's life and he had been until he had supposedly died and then walked right back in to their lives. Debbie had definitely told him exactly what she thought and shouted at him but when he begged her not to shut him out of Laura's life her heart broke for him because that's what he feared she would do.
Debbie could never do that to him.
"Thinking that you had died had broke my heart in to pieces" she hadn't told him that before because she didn't want him to feel guilty about it. But when Debbie got the news she had collapsed and started crying because of the fact that she had been in love with him but never told him until they were in the park a few months ago when he came back. Debbie felt a warm hand around hers and she looked over to see his hand there and in the end moved her hand around so that she could slip her fingers between his.
"I'm not going to leave you again" Elvis said softly to her.
"You can't promise me that, especially with what you do, you can't make that promise. The same way Molly can't promise that she won't get hurt again... you're a soldier Elvis"
Elvis left his hand on hers and moved from his chair so that he was crouching in front of her. "No I can't promise you that but I'm going to make damn well sure that I'm coming home after every tour and every mission for Laura.. for you" He put his other hand against her cheek and watched as she tilted her face in to his palm and her dark eyes looking down to him.
Debbie then stood up and Elvis did to before their lips crashed against each others and they held on to it for a moment. It had been a very long time since he had kissed her like this. She slowly pulled back and leaned her forehead against his. "You hurt me again then I really will kill you"
A smile pulled at Elvis' lips because he never doubted that she would kill him. "I'm not going to hurt you again" Or at least he's never going to pick another woman over her again because here, right here, was his home and his family. With that thought he pulled her in for another kiss and kept it going for another moment. His hand moved up in to her blonde hair and when his lips moved away from hers again he let his brown eyes look over her face. She was so beautiful that he understood where their daughter got her looks from.
"Are you busy?" she mumbled against his lips when they were closer to hers again.
"I can spare five minutes" he teased at her and got a laugh and then felt her hand against his shirt pulling him in the direction of her bedroom. Elvis left his mobile on the table in the kitchen because he was definitely going to be longer than five minutes and didn't want to be disturbed.
