In the moments before dawn, at the peak of terror, he showed himself for just a moment, and left as the humans stood fainting. The night was over. Tomorrow he would find someone else.
"Colonel Hogan," Schultz moaned, "it was awful. I don't think I will ever sleep again."
"But what was it?" Hogan asked, not just trusting the guard but remembering the report Carter, Newkirk, and LeBeau brought back of something terrifying following them. Schultz took the offered chocolate.
"It was like in a poem I read in one of your English books. I think it was a Jabberwocky."
