A/N: Hey guys and gals!

Back again for another chapter!

A lot has happened since I last updated any of my stories. Safe to say, life and work keep me plenty busy. But I still continue to brainstorm and expand on my projects for the site.

Speaking of…

While working on this chapter, I managed to work on the other projects I have for the site. In addition to that, new projects were added to the list with a select few I'm considering passing on to other authors.

So many projects in the works it's insane…

Also, while researching into the Cyberpunk 2077 setting and story background… it reminded me of Judge Dredd and Fallout. Seriously, America kind of just broke in the 90's, which seems weird when the 90's was the last great decade. Anyways, I've also been researching characters and their backgrounds. I very much look forward to throwing my hat into the ring with regards to a Cyberpunk 2077 story, if I get the chance.

My Halo/Mass Effect crossover is progressing slowly. Yes, I know. I would like to think almost every author has given it a shot with that crossover on numerous occasions. I couldn't help myself. Will it ever see the light of day? On the case it doesn't, we'll see what happens.

Plus I have two different timelines setup for my Mass Effect X-over. Trust me when I say that thing is massive so far.

For those who know, Dragon Ball Z Kakarot and Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 are getting new content. My reaction honestly is surprise. I had predicted that DBZ Kakarot would get new content with regards to the DBS Broly movie or maybe something to do with Goku's father Bardock. That said, I look forward to playing the final bit of DLC. A chance to play as a younger Future Trunks and Future Gohan? I'm definitely in. Despite the fact he barely got screen time, Future Gohan is a hero and an icon.

Hot take of the day… I love stories where Goku has multiple kids, not just Gohan and Goten. It's so damn wholesome when he interacts with an infant. It would be even better if Chi-Chi showed her mischievous side more getting those secret, yet oh so adorable pics of her boys. Or maybe sneaking pics of Gohan when he's having fluff moments with Videl.

Another thing… a boys trip to go fishing starring Goku, his sons, his brother and his father. That I would pay to see.

Additional Hot take… who is better at being adorable Charmy from Black Clover or Wendy from Fairy Tail? I have a hard time choosing.

Lastly… I think Happy is quite pleased with the cover for Chapter 71 in 100YQ.

Speaking of Chapter 71… Natsu what the hell man?! XD

*Spoilers: You fans love giving the boy a harem (I too am guilty of this). Wish granted by Mashima-Sensei for a limited time only.

All that said, 100YQ is a great sequel to the main story. However, I have no plans to add the storyline of 100YQ with The Lost Warrior. If anything, I'll most likely do special bonus chapters just to see how Team Natsu improved their chances against all their opponents thanks to the training they received.

Fairy Tail Guild Hall (Construction Site)

Morning/Noon

More time had passed since the guild war and Lucy's confrontation with her father.

Magnolia and its citizens had continued on with life, not at all perturbed by the fact their little town could have well been decimated by a rogue wizard saint and his lame ass mecha guild hall.

With Fairy Tail guild, business was booming. Now that Phantom Lord had been taken out of the equation and disbanded, Fairy Tail received more job requests than they were used to. Some of the clients that sent out the requests were old clients of Phantom, hoping to put their trust into a more reliable guild. Other clients were a mix of old and new. The newer clients had preferences, hoping to see if Fairy Tail could produce the results they were well known for. Especially given the fact that Fairy Tail's best and strongest team had a reputation for avoiding unnecessary destruction when in combat.

Members of the team were spread throughout Magnolia. Natsu and Happy were with Bardock, the Dragon Slayer continuing to train and push his limits. Given his magic and unnaturally durable body, Natsu had managed to reach his training goal of 25 times normal gravity. Although any higher would pose risks to his health, Natsu aimed his next goal to be 50 times. 100 times normal gravity would be his max, as any higher would-be overkill and likely too risky. Unlike Bardock, Natsu was human and didn't have the benefits of an alien physiology. Even Dragon Slayers had limits but that didn't mean they couldn't get stronger.

The Saiyan Rebel of course was also pushing his limits. At this point he was very well confident he could fight Frieza. But the scarred Saiyan knew better. He wasn't dumb enough to think that Frieza's power remained as it was. No.

Bardock would still get glimpses, visions of a future (or was it the present [?]) that was always in motion. He saw things, heard things… it got his Saiyan blood pumping but also made him falter. There was far more to Frieza than meets the eye. Case in point, the frequent appearance Frieza in two other forms, both magnified in power and revolting to look at. Then again, Frieza had always been ugly.

Anyways, Bardock saw more than just Frieza and his unimaginable power. He saw the aftermath of his son's struggle against Nappa and Vegeta. He witnessed the Earthlings make planetfall on the homeworld of the Namekians. That was the world where the Dragon Balls originated from. That was where the Namekians Kami and Piccolo originated from. Just how far did their origin go? What was their story?

What came after were snippets of fighting, slaughter and a mad grab for the Dragon Balls. Things were on the fuzzy side but it would all clear up eventually. Bardock had faith his resiliency would win out and his mind would become clear. He needed to see where these visions took him. With answers, he could hold onto the hope he would see his son again, connect with the family that had become a part of his own and one day let go of his past.

Gray and Erza alternated between solo jobs and aiding with the Guild Hall reconstruction.

Speaking of, the reconstruction of the Guild Hall was ahead of schedule. It would only be a couple of weeks or so before the Guild Hall was completely rebuilt, bigger and better than ever. However, at the rate the work was progressing it would possibly be much sooner.

Lucy happily sat at a large stand Mira had put up, it was supposed to act in place of the bar which many patrons were sorely missing. The Celestial Wizard was sipping on one of the fruit smoothies Mira had whipped up, something that suited her cheery mood on this day.

Nearby, Cana was enjoying her booze that she had charmed Mira into serving.

"Ah~! Nothing like fresh booze on a nice day at guild!" Cana exclaimed with a raised mug.

"Not only that, business is going well and everyone's spirits are higher than ever!" Mira cheerfully added.

Lucy nodded in agreement while taking more sips from her smoothie. She stopped for a moment to look around before noticing something.

"You know it surprises me to see them not drinking or fighting for once, not that it's a bad thing mind you." Lucy commented.

Mira and Cana directed their attention to the blonde.

"But, I don't see a few people here. Notably Master and Loke."

Cana hummed as she took a glance at Mira, expecting answers.

"The Master actually received a summon from an old friend who works with the Magic Council." Mira supplied.

Lucy nodded in acceptance. The blonde wondered who this friend might be and if they were a mage at some point.

"As for Loke, he's been spending less time here at the guild since the war with Phantom ended. Sometimes he comes to take jobs but they're usually short ones. Even his fan club has shown up more than once to look for him."

Cana and Lucy looked at Mira with furrowed brows. Although she had not been around at times since the guild hall was being rebuilt, Lucy did see Loke a time or two. It was in those times that he wasn't the obnoxious flirt or playboy but rather…

("Now that I've gotten better at getting a feel for magic energy, I'm a bit concerned about Loke. Every time I get a read on him, his power seems to be… unstable. Not only that it feels familiar too. I wonder…") Lucy contemplated.

What was going on with Loke posed an intriguing mystery to the Celestial Wizard. She'd rather not pry into any secrets that Loke has but his health was becoming a priority. Loke wasn't himself and it was up to Lucy to solve whatever was ailing him.

Before she could continue her conversation with her friends, they all noticed a table crashing into the ground. What was left of the table landed behind the makeshift bar stand and in front of Team Shadow Gear, who had recently arrived.

"I DARE YOU TO SAY THAT AGAIN!"

All six heads snapped to where the commotion was taking place and were rather surprised at the sight.

Laxus was casually lounging at one of the many tables setup in the rest area. He of course had his smug and condescending grin on his face. In front of him, Erza stood tall with a dark glare on her visage.

"Then why don't I spell it out for ya Titania…"

Laxus, with some lightning coating his hand, did a sweeping motion with his hand.

"This guild is full of nothing but weaklings! Spineless little wimps that don't belong! They couldn't even handle the scum from Phantom so why should they stay?"

Laxus then let his face twist into a sneer as he singled out Shadow Gear. Levy was surprised by this and took a step back. Jet and Droy, both who still felt the effects of Gajeel's ambush, didn't have the spirit to really stand up to Laxus right now.

"And don't even get me started on those losers. They're nothing but a disgrace to wizards everywhere! Couldn't even put up a fight!" Laxus spat in disgust.

All of Team Shadow Gear looked away in shame and embarrassment. It was bad enough getting beat the way they did. It was even worse when Laxus of all people belittled them for it. The blonde-haired male then turned his attention to Lucy, who had taken up a new spot in front of Shadow Gear.

"And then there's…"

"Okay let me stop you right there."

Laxus blinked a few times before looking at the newbie (in his mind), stand there with her hands on her hips. Lucy wore a glare that would make Erza and Mira proud. Everyone else, minus Erza and Gray (who was off to the side observing), were surprised that Lucy was showing backbone against Laxus.

"You have some nerve showing your face here after what you told Mira and Cana. You're probably wondering what I mean by that so let me explain to you in a way you can understand." Lucy began.

Laxus' face twisted into one of disbelief. He couldn't believe the nerve of this girl!

"Natsu and Bardock told us all what happened when my friends, my fellow guild mates, asked you, YOU of all people, to help us against Phantom Lord. And, not so shockingly enough, you didn't have the balls to show up. We needed extra muscle and firepower against Phantom Lord, but unlike everyone here, you were a no-show. Hell, even Mystogan pulled his own weight from what Master told us. Guess that means he's stronger than you huh?"

When she ended that last part, she sent a bit of a teasing smirk towards the grandson of Makarov. His eyes widened and his heart rate began to pick up. He was beginning to get pissed off at the girl's nerve. Not only that, but she was also rambling on the notion that some of these insects were stronger than him. In reality, their powers weren't worth a bucket of Vulcan piss.

Lucy's smirk dropped and her glare intensified, scaring some of the mages that had gathered. The crowd was building up, with Erza keeping a good distance from Laxus while Gray just blended in with the other guild members.

"As far as all of us are concerned, you're a coward, a traitor and above all else an egotistical prick. If anyone doesn't belong in Fairy Tail, take a good look in the mirror pal. You think we're weak? As if! Our strength comes from our bonds and all the hard work we do for the people of the Kingdom. You wouldn't know the meaning of true strength if it was right in your face."

There were murmurs of agreements as the crowd was starting to rally behind the blonde. Mira, Cana and Levy looked to the crowd worriedly, hoping the situation wouldn't get out of hand.

Laxus, in his growing state of ire clenched his fist and tilted his head forward. He gritted his teeth hard as Lucy pointed at him.

"So, do us all a favor take yourself, your inflated ego and your horrible fashion sense elsewhere! We don't need people who turn their back on family!" Lucy exclaimed passionately.

The murmurs broke out into rowdy cheers and rally cries. The guild had been putting up with Laxus' attitude for years now. This was sweet justice for them. A chance to let their voices be heard. He could annihilate the lot of them but it would be worth it. He was vilified and more or less an outcast who had turned his back on what it meant to be Fairy Tail.

Gray smirked as he emerged from the crowd and stood by Erza's side. Erza herself placed her fist on her hips and nodded in approval. She too, had long since tire of Laxus' attitude and antics. The redhaired mage was sure to discuss this with the Master and Mira but that would be in due time.

"You…"

Because right now, she and Gray really needed to keep Laxus from murdering someone by accident.

"Bitch!" Laxus roared furiously.

Laxus reared his arm back before throwing it forward, unleashing a lightning bolt far stronger than what average mages could do. Erza and Gray tensed, ready to jump in and defend their friend, until they felt something… no someone coming in at high speed.

As she heard the shouts and desperate cries of her friends, Lucy raised both arms in front of her face to protect to herself.

("This is gonna hurt…") Lucy groaned internally.

Lucy squeezed her eyes shut as she awaited the pain. But the pain never came. Lucy waited a few moments before opening her eyes. After taking her arms away from her face, the blonde gasped at the familiar form of her partner.

"Natsu!" Lucy exclaimed.

Natsu arrived just in the nick of time. His dragon senses, along with magic sensing ability, told him everything he needed to know. Laxus had apparently decided now was a convenient time to stop by the guild. Of course, that visit didn't go in Laxus' favor once Lucy stood up to him.

When the Master's grandson decided enough was enough, Natsu stepped in. Using improved speed from all his training, Natsu soared over his guildmates, rushed forward and tanked Laxus' attack using his flames as a shield. From the effects of the attack, Natsu could tell he had every intent of hurting Lucy. And if it wasn't Lucy, it would have been Shadow Gear, Mira or possibly Cana.

Natsu dispelled the flames and brought his arms to his side. He stared down Laxus with a hard, fury filled glare that made even Gray sweat a little.

"Well, well look who it is? The runt. How nice of you to join us." Laxus said with a mocking laugh.

Natsu continued to stare down Laxus without blinking once. Laxus frowned a moment before shrugging. He then let a smirk grace his face again before continuing.

"It's a good thing you're here because now-"

A majority of the guild didn't catch what happened next. It would be fair to say only the mages with experience and power under the belt, barely saw what just went down.

As Laxus spoke, Natsu let his rage boil over and he blitzed the Lightning user head on. Laxus couldn't react in time because he didn't think the Dragon Slayer had the balls to attack him. Hell, the blonde-haired young man didn't even think Natsu was that strong or fast. Had that been the case, he would have blocked that punch. But that obviously didn't happen.

Natsu ignited his magic across his body and fists on his approach. He then cocked his left hand back and leveled a haymaker on Laxus' face. The blow managed to take Laxus off his feet and sent him crashing through several tables.

Flames licked at Natsu's body and his left fist was smoking like the one time against Phantom when he one shot the fire mage wannabe ninja.

The entire guild gaped at the result. Then it hit them collectively.

Natsu just punched Laxus.

But that was not all. No…

He absolutely decked him!

Laxus groaned a little before sitting up. There was debris, food and drink on his clothes. He slowly stood up, rubbing his jaw before taking note of his person. His favorite coat had tears in it, along with stains from dirt, debris and food. That was strike one. Strike two was the fact that the pissant in front of him had the audacity to strike him. As for strike three?

Laxus let his magic flow out of his body as an intimidation tactic. He then reached up to touch his mouth with his right hand only to freeze. With wide, enraged eyes, Laxus looked down to see blood. The little pink-haired (salmon) bastard somehow drew blood.

Laxus formed a fist and glared hatefully at Natsu. Both mages let their respective elements coat their body.

"Do you have a death wish runt?!" Laxus snarled.

Natsu growled before crouching a bit lower. Everyone could feel the tension building and many of the lesser members of the guild sought cover. The brave ones enough to witness the standoff was Natsu's team, Team Shadow Gear, Cana and Mira.

"Funny. I could say the same thing to you spark plug." Natsu insulted.

"The hell you just say to me?!" Laxus roared.

Debris started to levitate around Laxus while the ground burned around Natsu's feet. Gray and Erza stood side by side, simply acting as referees. The duo couldn't help the beads of sweat that ran across their brow. Both had known Natsu was getting stronger as a result of his training, but they didn't expect such a huge payoff. In a matter of months while training under and alongside Bardock, the fire breather had managed to close the gap between himself and one of the guild's heavy hitters.

Lucy of course had absolute faith in her crush and best friend. She knew what drove Natsu to be so strong and powerful. That and the blonde could feel elation at the fact that Natsu was more than willing to knock Laxus off of his proverbial high horse when all Lucy could do was mix insults with truth.

"I think you heard me you arrogant jackass." Natsu retorted.

Laxus growled in response. Natsu took a few step forwards before sliding back into a stance.

"You can talk down to me, injure me, drag my name through the dirt and even kill me…"

Images of the past went through Natsu's head. His first days at Fairy Tail…

Natsu sees the guild hall for the first time…

All those years spent with Happy, the Strauss Siblings, the stripper, Erza and so many more…

The Smiling and happy faces of Natsu's guild family scrolling from left to right…

Natsu remembers the fights, the triumph and tragedy…

Flashes of memories going from his fight against Vulcans, to Lisanna's untimely demise, the fights against Gajeel and everything else in between…

"But you sure as well won't harm my family Laxus. Especially seeing they're your family too. But I doubt you see it that way anymore." Natsu finished with a growl.

Murmurs and whispers echoed through where the guild members hid. Lucy, Mira, Levy, Cana, Erza, Gray and several senior members of the guild all had proud smiles at Natsu's passion and determination.

Laxus scrunched his face in disgust before scoffing off to the side.

"Since when did the little pissant grow a backbone?" Laxus questioned.

Natsu's eyes narrowed and his flames intensified.

"When your ugly mug decided to attack what I protect." Natsu shot back.

Laxus would have made a move or simply gave a worthy retort but neither happened. Slowly but surely, members of the guild trickled out from their hiding spots, offering their support vocally. Laxus glanced around warily, knowing that any violent action at this point would only make things worse. Would he regret showing these lesser mages his power the hard way? No. Did he want to? Absolutely. The root of his issue was Natsu and his team, along with any civilian witnesses. A fight mixed with the involvement of the town would spell disaster for Laxus' ambitions of taking over Fairy Tail.

Natsu took in the crowd as well as Laxus' silence. The salmon haired teen relaxed from his fighting stance but kept his flames.

"You really wanna risk explaining to Gramps why the place was trashed or are you gonna walk away like you always do?" Natsu questioned with a raised brow.

At this point Natsu was pushing the envelope, knowing Laxus and that legendary temper. But Laxus knew very well when he was being goaded and what it would lead to. Laxus snarled loudly before relenting. He had enough of being around his so-called guild mates anyways. A flash and a boom later signaled that Laxus had left, the sign of his departure being a charred piece of ground.

Natsu sighed and extinguished his flames. The collective of Fairy Tail mages all cheered and applauded Natsu for standing up to Laxus when not many would do so. The resident Salamander offered a sheepish grin and a chuckle in response. Lucy shared a giggle with Mira as they watched Natsu get praise from the crowd.

"You know, seeing Natsu like that is quite the sight. I never knew he was that serious in battle. It surprises me really." Mira commented with a smile.

Lucy nodded in agreement.

"Yeah… he's one of a kind. I'm still in awe at the fact I'm his partner and teammate. It feels so surreal…" Lucy added softly.

Mira traded a devious and mischievous look with Cana before they both looked to Lucy.

Although it was not official yet, the pair could easily see what had developed in these last few months. Fairy Tail's resident Fire Dragon Slayer and the Celestial Spirit summoner were steadily but surely falling for each other. In fact, it was only a matter of time before a confession happened. Though confessions were meant to be private, Mira and Cana secretly hoped to be witnesses to what they dubbed "the completion of the NaLu ship". Mira didn't even have to do all the work when it came to matchmaking. In fact, she was more than satisfied with what she saw.

Taking an opportunity to help her friend out, Mira went to polishing off some glass cups, humming a light tune.

"You know Lucy, you should go rescue Natsu before he gets overwhelmed. I don't see Erza or Gray anywhere, so you should step in." Mira suggested.

Lucy blinked a few times, looking over at Mira before looking to Natsu. Comically, Natsu was getting overwhelmed by the crowd, limbs sticking out without a head to show for it. Lucy chuckled nervously before walking over.

"Time to rescue that pesky dragon boy again." Lucy said before sighing.

While the blonde walked away, Mira got a glint in her eye and smirked. Cana noticed this and leaned over.

"They're so into each other it's cute. How long do you think-"

"Give or take two weeks."

Cana blinked in surprise before murmuring an 'oh'. She and Mira idly observed as the crowd dispersed, leaving a stern Lucy standing in front of a sheepish Natsu. Close by, Erza and Gray were speaking, leaving the potential lovebirds by their lonesome. Cana and Mira were paying very close attention, while an outside observer would see them simply.

Natsu and Lucy were smiling, laughing about something Natsu had said. Lucy then giggled when Natsu told her a joke. A little more back and forth transpired a few minutes longer before Natsu remembered something and brought out a job request. Taking it from his hands, Lucy appraised it with a glowing smile then gave a look that made the Dragon Slayer a bit weak in the knees. Natsu happily nodded with something Lucy said, then the two shared more laughs before stopping to stare at each other longingly.

Mira and Cana quietly squealed together before giggling in mischief. Nearby, Levy, who was talking details of a job with her team, looked over to the pair and blinked owlishly. It was once Levy got a good look at their faces she had realized something.

("Oh boy… Mira's in one of those moods again.") Levy thought with a sweatdrop.

Levy, luckily, was not a victim of Mira's matchmaking antics she had become known for these past few years. Sure, lesser members somewhat flocked to Mira for relationship advice when they found themselves needing help in their love life. But the major players within the guild fell victim to the one known as the She-Demon. Levy had counted her lucky stars that Mira hadn't targeted her… yet.

("Still, I can't wait to hold this over Lu. She's got it so bad. I think it's time I cash in on the fun.") Levy considered with a smirk.

All that said, Levy was also willing to aid in Mira's matchmaking antics. Especially when it came down to the fact she wanted to see her fellow bookworm squirm and get embarrassed. Then, she would make sure that a boy who had become like her brother, would treat Lucy to a proper date, wine & dine and whatnot.

Giggling with her own mischief, Levy started plotting, much to the nervousness and discomfort of her teammates. They admired her and cared for her greatly.

But even they thought she was weird at times.

Several Days Later

Outskirts of Magnolia

Bardock's Home

Gravity Chamber/Gravity Room

The hard tiles took a beating as Bardock was performing flips in high gravity, palms damn near cracking the floor. Bardock came out of his flip to perform a kick in midair. Sweat dripping off his form, the Saiyan Rebel gritted his teeth before phasing out of existence. He then phased back in throwing a series of kicks before disappearing again. A few seconds later, Bardock threw a ferocious combo of punches against an imaginary opponent.

He would get Dodoria with a hard right cross.

Then he would get Zarbon with a mean uppercut.

Bardock felt his power flare up a bit. He was going to push himself further. As now, he faces the Ginyu Force, Frieza's elite fighting force and the five most powerful beings in Frieza's army.

He settles into a stance before rushing forward and without warning, visualizes a fight against the elite team.

The sky was green, with one of three suns shown high in the sky. The land and grass was blue. Turns out, Bardock's 'gift' from the Kanassans had sent him to Namek and to fight his greatest enemy's deadliest squad.

High in the air, Bardock let loose a war cry as he rushed forward. The five men did their patented fighting poses before scattering in several directions. A lone figure wreathed in a blue aura was racing towards the scattered, various colored auras of five men.

The ensuing battle was flashes in the Saiyan Rebel's mind. He remembered maiming Guldo by taking out all his eyes. What came after was snapping Recoome's neck with his bare hands after a brutal beatdown.

Burter and Jeice were no longer the fastest warriors in the galaxy or even in the universe. Bardock ran circles around them before riddling Burter with holes before snapping his neck with a kick. Jeice tried to cower away and hide but to no avail. The red skinned man suffered broken ribs before being blasted into oblivion.

Ginyu was the last man standing and the battle that ensued was epic. However, Bardock knew he held the edge. He never relented, even to a point where he was punching Ginyu's face in to where it was nothing but flesh and teeth. And just as he was about to finish him, Bardock felt his focus shift and he was suddenly back in the Gravity Chamber. He was panting, aura no longer engaged and sweat was dripping off his form in droves. The Saiyan's arm was still extended as if he was throwing a punch.

("How long have I…") Bardock wondered.

Then knocking, no… banging on the door made Bardock perk up. It was then the Saiyan realized his workout was interrupted and he suddenly growled. Bardock hated interruptions with a passion. Especially, when it came to his training. He had no time to entertain the fruitcakes who occupied his time on occasion when he was at the guild or on a job. Bardock would rather focus on beating potential threats and getting home. If his memories of Gine and the visions of his son's trip to Namek were anything to go by, he had to get back. Getting bogged down in what he saw as 'petty' affairs of a magic guild or the kingdom wasn't worth wasting his energy on. After all, he was the strongest being on the planet.

Striding angrily towards the door, Bardock pressed a button on the panel before the door opened to reveal a very sheepish looking Natsu Dragneel. Bardock paused for a minute, staring blankly at the teen before noticing that the young man had no one in his company.

Awkwardly rubbing his neck, Natsu glanced away with a slight grimace.

"You got a minute?" Natsu asked.

Bardock crossed his arms and narrowed his eyes.

"I'll bite. Why the hell are you here?" Bardock questioned.

Natsu, recognizing the tone, suddenly found the sky to be quite interesting.

"Well~…"

Bardock would have said a few colorful words in response had he been a bit more impatient. Luckily, patience was something he had been working on. For now, he would entertain his student/trainee for a few minutes before giving him the boot.

Flashback

Balsam Village

Streets

Nighttime

"My team was doing a follow-on mission after that whole playwright thing went down. We took down some bandits, made some easy Jewel, and decided to relax for a bit…"

Fairy Alpha had a mission near Balsam Village, a tourist attraction that also doubled as a spa resort. Due to how easy the mission was and the bonus added due to Natsu's restraint, Fairy Alpha got to indulge themselves a little. Gray and Erza had been doing individual jobs and light training since the end of the guild war against Phantom Lord. Once Lucy handled things were her dad, Natsu and Happy decided to bring her along on jobs. And when Lucy wasn't feeling up to going on jobs, Natsu opted to train and he brought Happy along with him.

Now, Natsu and Happy were strolling towards one of the restaurants, hoping to meet Lucy there while also getting a meal. The Dragon Slayer had abandoned the Yukata and opted for his usual pants and sandals, a sleeveless top gracing his torso. Not only that, but his scarf was also around his neck as it was his only piece connecting him with Igneel.

"Oh man! Sleep never felt so good! This vacation definitely hit the spot." Natsu exclaimed with a grin.

Natsu laced his fingers behind his head while Happy floated alongside him.

"Aye. We should do this more often after missions Natsu." Happy agreed with a nod.

Natsu chuckled and glanced his best friend's way.

"You said it buddy!"

Both shared a grin before continuing on their path. Balsam was really a nice spot to unwind. Natsu had been pushing himself lately when it came to getting stronger. So hard he felt like his body was in need of rest. Natsu wasn't Bardock, not even close. Being a Dragon Slayer meant adaptation and evolution at a rate that would trump that of a regular mage, even Requip mages like Erza or Alzack and Bisca. But a Dragon Slayer was not a Saiyan. Saiyan potential according to Bardock was limitless. It was why Bardock continued to train, he wanted to see what his limits truly were and if he could surpass them. Natsu wanted that too. He owed it to Igneel. To Lisanna and her memory.

And he also owed it to a very special blonde in his life. A blonde who only months ago became his partner.

Speaking of Lucy, said blonde was running towards the duo and wasn't minding her surroundings. She had bumped into a few people before Natsu managed to catch her by her shoulders.

"Whoa! Where's the fire Luce?"

Lucy's hair shadowed over her eyes and by her posture, Natsu could tell she was upset.

"Lucy?" Happy questioned with a tilt of the head.

Natsu's brow furrowed when she didn't answer immediately. He wrapped his arms around her, making her tense up before reciprocating the act.

"Luce, look at me."

Slowly but surely, the blonde looked up. Natsu could now tell that his partner was both upset and a more than a little worried right now.

"What's wrong?" Natsu asked outright.

Lucy was hesitant at first, diverting her eyes from her partner's.

"It's Loke. He's…" Lucy began.

Lucy recounted her tale starting from the team's impromptu pillow fight. After the chaos had more or less wrecked their room, the blonde decided to get some fresh air, summoning Plue to keep her company. It was then she met a trio of unsavory characters. As per usual, given how attractive Lucy was, they made their intentions clear. Natsu's blood boiled and he made sure to keep a lid on his temper. It was only due to the fact that his partner could handle herself just fine that he didn't outright seek the bastards out.

Lucy then mentioned she was ready to kick their asses before Loke stepped in. Though hunting the gang of misfits was part of a job request, Lucy reprimanded him because she didn't need a savior for a fight she could handle. To make it up to her, he offered a chat along with some drinks.

Natsu flared his nostrils in slight jealousy, making Lucy giggle and Happy snicker. The blonde placated Natsu by reaffirming the fact that she was immune to Loke's charm if anything. Natsu relented allowing Lucy to get to the whole point of her story.

Once Lucy and Loke had arrived at the bar, the two fell into an awkward back and forth between talking and silence. Lucy then brought up the issue of what Loke was going through based on how he had barely been around the guild… and why his magic energy was so erratic. Loke of course dodged the line of questioning before resorting to flirting. When Lucy pressed the issue, Loke took his flirting a bit too far. Lucy rebuffed his advances with finality before nearly causing a scene, asking what was wrong. Loke admitted something serious which he ended up joking about seconds later. Infuriated, Lucy proceeded to slap the shit out of him before running out of the bar, Plue in hand.

Natsu, with a blank look, felt his anger come back in waves. Lucy and Happy glanced at the scarf wearing teen nervously for several moments. Natsu's grip on Lucy tightened then loosened before the Dragon Slayer let her go and took off in a direction where he believed he might find Loke.

"Natsu wait!"

Natsu ignored her and continued going, leaving behind both his partners. Happy looked to Lucy who crossed her arms and shook her head.

"That caring idiot…" Lucy sighed.

Meanwhile…

Loke had collected his payment and was ready to leave the village. Though hospitality sounded good to him, he was in a hurry. Time was something that was not on his side. This was something no one in the guild except maybe the master could understand.

While gathering his thoughts on his future and what his next move might be, Loke heard the sound of rapid footsteps. Someone was running in his direction.

"Wha…?"

The moment Loke turned around, his sight was obscured by the dark colored sandal of a certain Dragon Slayer. In an instant, Loke was sent flying by a kick from Natsu. Shades slightly cracked, Loke sat up with a groan while holding his face. Shaking off the pain, Loke aimed an annoyed glare at his fellow guild mate.

"Natsu? What the hell man?! That hurt!"

"Lucy's worried about you." Natsu muttered.

Loke's eyes widened as he stared at Natsu's form. The young man's salmon-colored locks shadowed over his eyes as he was trying his best not let his anger take over.

"I may not be the smartest guy out there. I know this. The guild reminds me that every day, but I roll with it."

Loke flinched and winced at that. Natsu not being the most educated was something Natsu himself never really cared much about. Although he loved his guild family, being belittled about his intelligence level annoyed him to a degree. He wasn't the most prideful individual but he wanted to have some dignity. Hence why he pushed himself to train harder than everyone else and learn what he could from Lucy. After all, Erza wasn't exactly the best teacher.

Natsu took a few steps forward before stopping in front of Loke. At this point, Natsu's body was emitting smoke and his hands had opened up.

"That said…"

Natsu snatched up Loke by his collar with both hands. Holding the other mage off the ground, Natsu gave a death glare as his usual onyx eyes shifted to slitted jade, similar to that of a dragon. Loke's eyes widened as he felt a lot smaller than he should from Natsu's fierce gaze. Not only that, Natsu had subtly increased his magic to a point where Loke was beginning to fear for his safety.

"Even I understand the line between nice guy and asshole. Now which one are you Loke?" Natsu questioned.

Loke frowned while a bead of sweat trailed down his temple.

"You shunned Lucy when she was trying to help your sorry ass. If you had made her cry this would be so much worse. But upsetting her is just as bad." Natsu snarled.

Loke internally felt bad. Time was running out and fast. He still had a few things he needed to take care of… before he could say goodbye.

The orange haired young man glared back at Natsu, which didn't faze the Dragon Slayer one bit.

"She's a big girl Natsu. She can fight her own battles." Loke retorted.

Natsu scoffed.

"I know that."

Natsu's body continued to emit smoke, flames igniting around his calves.

"What I want to know is why nice girls fall for guys like you? Bruised ego, bad fashion sense and weak as hell. You really are the poor man's prince charming ain't ya?" Natsu sneered.

"Shut up Natsu. You don't know a thing about me." Loke growled.

The two were practically in each other's face. The tension was at an all time high. So high, residents and tourists had vacated the area by now.

They usually got along. Even though Loke was more Gray's friend, they still were pretty cool with each other. But with Loke's recent behavior, along with his flirtations with Lucy (much to Natsu's ire), the shade wearing teen had reach the limit of Natsu's patience.

Natsu already had to put up with the antics of Phantom Lord and Laxus. He didn't have time for a family member in obvious need of help who pushed people away. Maybe, just maybe…

"You're right." Natsu finally admitted with a nod.

Loke just needed a good kick in the pants.

"I don't."

Or a headbutt, which Natsu delivered before dropping Loke to the ground. Natsu's body stopped emitting smoke and the Dragon Slayer shoved his hands into his pockets as he walked back to his partners. Not giving Loke a second glance, Natsu just looked ahead of him with frustration and a bit of anger.

"I almost missed it because I was so pissed off, but his magic energy felt off just like Lucy said. That's one of the reasons why she approached him."

Loke sat up off the ground and stared sadly at Natsu's back as the Dragon Slayer disappeared. Sighing to himself, Loke slowly rose off the ground before dusting himself and walking off.

"We left the next day and came back here to report in. Lucy, Happy and I collectively decided to forget about whatever Loke was dealing with and not even bring it up with Erza or Gray."

Flashback End

Bardock leaned against the wall with his eyes closed. The gravity had been turned on and Natsu was working off his frustration by training.

"And I haven't seen him since then. It's been a few days and no one has seen him. That pretty much drew everyone's attention." Natsu finished.

Natsu finished off another set of push-ups before popping off the ground.

"If that's the case, then what the hell is going on with him? I sure as hell don't talk to him enough to really give a damn about his personal issues." Bardock said with a shrug.

Natsu growled before running a hand through his hair.

"If only I knew…" Natsu sighed with slight frustration.

A series of hard knocks on the door brought both males attention. They looked at each other for a moment before shrugging. Bardock was at the door and opened it after working the panel. Once the door slid open, a blue blur tackled Natsu's chest. The Dragon Slayer looked down in surprise before wrapping an arm around his partner and foster son. Happy though was babbling at miles an hour, leaving Bardock to deadpan while Natsu merely looked confused and a bit baffled.

"Whoa! Calm down little buddy. Tell us what happened."

Happy calmed down a bit, panting. Natsu scratched Happy's fur in a soothing motion while Bardock looked at the pair seriously.

"Loke's gone missing! Everyone in the guild is looking for him!" Happy exclaimed.

Natsu was taken aback by the news. He honestly didn't expect Loke to up and go AWOL. The Dragon Slayer hoped part of it wasn't his fault after what happened several days back. Bardock for his part was curious as to why Loke would just leave the guild so suddenly. After all the speeches and actions, Bardock would have thought the guild was much tighter knit group than that.

The pair turned to the Saiyan who just stared at them for several moments. When he realized what they were silently asking, he had to resist the urge to slap a hand to his face.

"Yeah. I can find him easily. Give me a minute." Bardock said with an eye roll.

The duo beamed their thanks while Bardock stepped outside of the Gravity Chamber. Natsu and Happy followed the Saiyan Rebel outside, a gentle breeze blowing through the area as they stopped a good distance from the structure.

Bardock closed his eyes and steadied his breathing. Expanding his senses and minding his surroundings, Bardock began to feel out for energy signatures, mainly the ones he was familiar with. He never really cared for the energy signatures he successfully detected outside the kingdom's borders. There was a strong cluster on a part of the world that was known as the Western Continent. There were even stronger energy signatures on the Northern Continent.

To the mages within the Kingdom, these energies would be strong. Too strong, even by their standards. To Bardock? He simply scoffed. While the mages of this part of the planet were simply outmatched by the greater powers out there, he was not. He outclassed them. In experimenting with sensing energy, Bardock had confirmed what he already knew to be true. He was the strongest being on the planet. And there wasn't a damn thing anyone could do to stop him. It felt good in a way and fed into his pride as a Saiyan warrior.

Getting back on track, Bardock started feeling out for the energies belonging to Fairy Tail members. The two dumbasses were behind him waiting on a verdict. Erza, Gray, Elfman, Team Shadow Gear and countless others were moving in various directions all over town and beyond. Then, Bardock noticed that a certain blonde's energy was missing from the pack. She had strayed and gone elsewhere. Heading towards a lone energy signature that had likely not moved in a long time.

("Bingo.")

"Did you find him?" Natsu asked.

Bardock's eyes opened and he glanced over his shoulder.

"Yeah. I did." Bardock answered with narrowed eyes.

The Saiyan then turned his attention to the skies above the treeline.

("What's the ditz doing so close to that guy anyways? And why does his energy feel so low? Something's off…")

Karen's Grave

The day had started off like it usually had. Gray and Natsu were arguing. Happy, bless his heart, wanted to spend more time with Lucy. One, because he genuinely liked her and thought she was good for Natsu. Two, he wanted to tease the Blonde some more for fun.

Lucy loved Happy and so long that he didn't take his teasing too far, she would tolerate the lovable fur ball.

Anyways, Lucy was conversing with Levy, Cana and Mira for a bit until their conversation was interrupted by a group of women. Turns out, these women happen to be Loke's groupies of sorts. They were all clamoring, demanding where Loke had gone. Things started to get out of hand when the leaders ganged up on Mira, asking various questions and not allowing time for answers. Mira, along with the other girls, were rescued by Natsu, who scared Loke's fan club away with the meanest growl and scariest glare he could muster. Lucy and the others thanked Natsu for the save, who in return gave them a bright grin before going into a brawl with Gray.

Around lunch, Lucy and Happy were at Lucy's place, asking the Celestial Spirit known as Crux to aid in some information gathering. She asked about Loke and his background, only to get a slight clue. Crux had said that Loke's information was private and not privy to be shared. Lucy had inquired why only for Crux to throw her a bone in the form of a name.

Karen Lilica, former mage of Blue Pegasus.

So, Lucy used her deductive reasoning and smarts to solve the case surrounding Loke. It only took a few seconds but she figured it out.

Loke's behavior, mixed with his erratic magic energy and a past relationship with a deceased wizard (a Celestial Spirit Mage of all things) all pointed to one thing…

Lucy emerged from the forest and found just who she was looking for. Loke was standing in front of a monument that was perched on a cliff. The backdrop behind was a waterfall, beautifully curved to present the serenity of nature. Smiling with relief, Lucy decided to get Loke's attention.

"It makes sense that you would be out here Loke."

Jumping a bit, the orange haired teen turned around to meet the doe brown eyes of his guild mate.

"Lucy?!" Loke exclaimed in surprise.

Ignoring Loke's expression, Lucy approached only to stop several feet away.

"Or should I call you Leo, leader of the Zodiac Spirits?" Lucy questioned with a smile.

Expression softening, Loke peered down at the ground with sadness before turning away.

"So… you know then." Loke stated more thank asked.

Lucy took a deep breath before walking a few more feet.

"What happened to you Loke?" Lucy gently questioned.

Tensing up, Loke turned to speak out only to be cutoff by Lucy.

"And I don't want to hear any excuse from you. You have a lot to make up for, not just to me but to the others as well. It's one of the reasons why I didn't bring Happy along. He would have been more insistent on bringing Natsu and I'm pretty sure Natsu wants to beat your face in for before."

Loke grimaced, remembering what happened back in Balsam Village. He was thankful that Lucy didn't involve Natsu. Natsu was someone he considered a great friend and someone he'd rather not see since he was in this state. Time was short as it was so at the very best he could share his story with someone. Someone worthy of knowing his true past.

"I guess I can start by saying Yes, I am indeed Leo of the Lion palace." Loke began.

Lucy nodded encouragingly, allowing for Loke/Leo to continue.

"It started several years ago, myself, Aries and several other Celestial Spirits were contracted to the newest addition of Blue Pegasus."

Lucy listened intently while also feeling two familiar presences. Natsu and Bardock was behind her and well hidden. Hidden well enough not for Loke to notice. She also noted that she had to find Aries key at some point given the circumstances.

"Karen was ambitious, even among normal mages but being in Blue Pegasus was her dream. She had wanted it all. Fame, wealth, countless suitors, the list goes on…"

Loke stared into the sky wistfully as he spoke. Thinking back to brighter, better days when his former master wasn't so clouded with vanity and greed. Lucy furrowed her brows, understanding a hidden meaning. Something during those days had gone wrong.

It was then Loke's expression darkened. He clinched his fist as he stared off to the side.

"Her ambitions ended up turning her into something that, despite being beautiful on the outside-"

"She was ugly inside." Lucy finished with a grimace.

Lucy knew the type. Growing up in a household where your father flaunts wealth and hosts lavish parties to upper society, Lucy knew far too well. That, and working as a Fairy Tail mage has introduced her to cruel characters of almost the entire spectrum.

"She was sadistic, cruel and despite being a light mage, she behaved like a dark mage with regards to us Celestial Spirits. Karen saw us as slaves, playthings used for her entertainment and for the entertainment of her countless 'partners'." Loke ranted on in anger.

Lucy's frowned hardened before her eyes widened in alarm.

"She didn't… did she?"

Loke caught on to the unasked part of the question. Some Celestial Mages were cruel but not that cruel as far as he knew.

"No. Fortunately, it never got that far. Her ego and pride got in the way of any scenario such as that." Loke answered with a shake of his head.

Lucy sighed in relief before urging Loke to continue.

"When she started abusing Aries, that was the last straw for me. Karen was often angry and worried that her behavior was reported to the master of her guild, which would have resulted in her being stripped of everything she worked for. Karen at one-point suspected Aries to have told on her."

Lucy nodded before cocking her hip out.

"I assume you summoned yourself in Aries' place due to how powerful you are." Lucy surmised with a raised brow.

Loke, without warning went to his knees. Lucy gasped before rushing to his side and placing her hands on his shoulders. The Lion spirit was clutching his right wrist with his left hands as sweat was dripping down his face.

"And it worked. I took the abuse in Aries place for a time. It robbed Karen of her effectiveness in both aspects of her work at Blue Pegasus. Even as I grew weaker, my resolve would not allow for Karen to abuse Aries ever again." Loke said confirming her deduction.

Lucy found that admirable beyond words. She had heard the stories of the loyalty of Leo the Lion Spirit. He was well known for his loyalty and bravery. Plus, he could always be counted on in dire situations in which lives were on the line.

"Then, after almost three months or so in the human world, just as I was adjusting she…"

Loke took a shuddering breath before closing his eyes. Lucy figured out what was left unsaid. According to reports, Karen had been killed by an unknown assailant who possibly possessed powerful magic. Afterwards, some of her clothes, personal items and most of her keys were taken. All the authorities found was badly damaged body that luckily hadn't been violated by animals or crazed criminals.

"To sum it up, she got killed on the job because of her cruelty and that she was way in over her head. That doesn't mean you have to blame yourself for her death Loke. It was her own fault anyways." Lucy said.

Loke's head snapped up fast, his eyes wide and frantic.

"But I-"

"Look!"

Gripping his shoulders tight, Lucy leveled a fierce stare that made him flinch.

"Listen and listen good, because I will only say this once. Karen Lilica's death is not your fault. Her actions, behavior and black heart is the reason she is no longer among us. If there was a chance to redeem her darkened soul, I know you would do everything in your power to aid in that process."

Lucy then shoved Loke back on his ass before standing up tall. As she stood, a golden aura outlined her body.

"But moping around, acting depress and punishing yourself for three years is downright pathetic! You are the leader of the Celestial Spirits! Have some damn pride!" Lucy scolded fiercely.

Loke was wide eyed at that. This was something he never expected from the blonde. He knew she was fiercely loyal to those around her, Natsu being a prime example. But no one had ever said something like that to him before. That and it was unexpected that it would come from Lucy's lips. If anything, he figured Natsu, Gray or most likely Bardock would say that to him.

"Lucy…" Loke murmured.

Loke winced as he felt his power drain some more. He glanced left to see that fate and the gods had abandoned him once and for al. He was more than ready to consign to his fate. He felt he deserved it after all he had done. But Lucy had told him otherwise.

With her hair shadowing the top half of her face, Lucy clinched a fist in determination.

"If you won't save yourself from this fate of erasure…"

The light that encompassed Lucy's form only radiated stronger. This time, wisps of power was coming off her in waves. Loke felt what was the equivalent of a rising volcano from within Lucy's being. The orange haired spirit crawled back a bit, wide eyed as he watched his friend defy all reason and logic just for him.

"Then I will!" Lucy exclaimed.

The power from within Lucy erupted, nearly blinding Loke. The Lion spirit shieled his face with his arm, barely able to keep his eyes open. What became barely visible to Loke's sight was Lucy's aura shaped into giant flame, shining bright like the stars.

("W-What power!")

With her fists clinched and at her side, Lucy raised a determined stare to the stars. She didn't know who was out there, only that they needed to hear her.

"Heed my beck and call oh heavenly stars! Hear my plea and prayer! Use my power to save the Leader of the Zodiacs! Open Gate of the Lion! Leo!"

As Lucy let loose every bit of magic power in her system, the very earth in the area quaked ferociously. The ground beneath Lucy's feet cracked and shattered as it was beginning to crumble from the pressure.

Loke continued to look on, only to feel some moments later, the connection of Lucy's power to his. She was giving up her power so that she could save Loke… or die trying.

"Lucy! Stop it!" Loke pleaded loud enough.

"Never! You are my friend! You are a Celestial Spirit and a member of Fairy Tail! You deserve to live!" Lucy countered.

Loke's panicked expression softened. He felt so guilty. To be cared about by friends from Fairy Tail… it meant everything to him. A lump crawled into his throat as he looked to the ground. As if almost sensing his inner turmoil, Lucy voiced something that would reach out to his very being.

"So live! If not for your sake then at least for mine. At least for Gray, Mira, Master and so many others."

A sob nearly tore from Loke, who gripped his chest trying to hold it all in. Thinking of his friends… his family. It hurt. He never wanted Karen to die. He should have been there to protect her. To fight for her. At least show her the error of her ways.

Loke was ready to die. More than ready.

"And live for me… please."

But more than anything, deep down despite denying so many times. He wanted to live. He had to live.

As if hearing his thoughts, a powerful entity decided to make itself known. The echoing sound of a sonic boom was heard by the mage and the lion spirit, causing Lucy to settle down in response.

Loke shakily got to his feet while Lucy looked around in slight alarm. The ground trembled and the waters within the waterfall behaved in an erratic fashion.

"Wait a minute! What's going on?!" Lucy shouted in surprise.

The phenomenon that resembled that of an Earthquake continued on for several more seconds before ceasing. The slight overcast that had been in the area was no longer there. Instead, the stars were visible, as well as a partial moon. Both Lucy and Loke looked around for several moments, trying to see what the damage was. It was then that Loke turned back to Karen's grave that he saw something.

Something very big.

"N-no way…" Loke stammered.

Lucy heard Loke and looked at him with a raised brow.

"It's him…"

Lucy made a sound of confusion before following Loke's sight. Once her eyes met that something, she immediately freaked out.

"Kyaaaaaaaa!"

Holding her cheeks, aura faintly outlining her body, Lucy gaped at the giant being that levitated above the waterfall.

"Holy crap!" Lucy squeaked.

The being wore the armor worthy of both knights and royalty. He had no irises to speak of and had the most outlandish mustache. At his right hip was a claymore sword, sheathed inside a blue casket/scabbard.

"It's the Celestial Spirit King…"

The Celestial Spirit King had his arms crossed as he peered down at Lucy and Loke. Lucy for the most part looked at Loke in surprise and shock. She had only heard and read small bits pointing to the existence of the ruler of the spirit realm. So far, Lucy chalked the King's existence somewhere between a myth and a theory.

But now, his existence had been proven to be real. So real, Lucy was having to comically switch back and forth between Leo and his Celestial highness.

"It has been quite some time my old friend." The Spirit King greeted.

Loke went down to his knees and stared up solemnly at his oldest known friend. The Celestial Spirit King let silence rein in as he looked upon his friend and sense his energy. Sacred tenants were put in place to protect both spirit and user, ever since Celestial spirits first came into existence. So long as neither broke the rules that were in place, neither would suffer from the consequences that followed.

But Loke's situation was something he could not prevent, no matter how much he wanted to try. The King had much ire regarding the mage named Karen Lilica. But the rules bound to him by the natural order of magic in the world prevented him from taking action. Had that not been the case, he would have freed Loke and Aries, while also taking away Karen's livelihood by taking away her magic abilities.

"As much joy is within me at seeing you, my heart is in agony over the ruling via the sacred covenant. Your key bearer was slain via your actions. Your banishment is something I cannot change. I am sorry."

Loke bowed his head in acceptance. He knew what the King truly felt about the whole affair. Still, rules were rules and even if he wasn't a witness or direct accomplice to Karen's demise, he had her blood on his hands. She was gone from this world because of him.

Lucy saw Loke and narrowed her eyes. She walked right up next to him and stared the Celestial Spirit King down hard.

"Hold on!" Lucy interjected.

The Spirit King looked to Lucy, while Loke kept his head bowed.

"Your highness… your words bear some truth. But you are wrong. Karen Lilica died due to her own faults as a person and as a bearer of the Celestial Keys in her possession. It wasn't Loke's fault, not really."

Lucy placed a hand on her heart.

"You speak of Loke as if he were your friend. That's what this all boils down to right? Loke was defending Aries. Aries was and still is Loke's friend. He did what he needed to protect her. And if it is such a sin to do so then I'm just as guilty!" Lucy proclaimed passionately.

Loke was very moved Lucy's words. It may have been false hope but it was hope nonetheless. Should this be his last moments, he would cherish what Lucy said to him and what she tried to do for him.

The Celestial Spirit King was of a similar mindset. His history with the Heartfillia family dated back many years. To see the next generation with his own eyes proved to be quite fruitful. He could see that Lucy was destined to do great things with her companions by her side. Not only that, Lucy embodied everything that a Celestial Wizard or a mage in general should strive to be.

"Young lady, I understand. However, my old friend-"

"Zip it you weird, old, bearded geezer!" Lucy interrupted.

Both males were taken aback by the tone in Lucy's voice. Like before, she let her power erupt causing a shockwave that pushed Loke back some. Eyeing her intently, the Celestial Spirit King was hoping to see more the young woman's inner fire.

"Loke's my friend! Our friend! Our family! We all cherish him as such! So if it is a sin to protect someone you care for strike me down right here!" Lucy declared passionately.

As she spoke, all members of the Zodiac that she had a contract with, were summoned right behind her. Standing proudly, shoulder to shoulder, were Loke's fellow spirits. His other family in a sense.

The lion spirit's eyes widened as he could feel the power not just come from Lucy's magic but from her very being. Her emotions were on full display and he could see that she was more than resolute to save Loke. Whatever the cost may be. Loke also noted the determined and proud smiles of each spirit. They very much wanted to be here to support Lucy and to bring Loke home.

("S-she summoned them… my friends…")

Lucy held on for a few more moments before collapsing on all fours, panting. Loke would have moved to help her had the booming voice of the king resounded through the night air.

"Your words have moved me…"

The pair of Fairy Tail members looked up to see the stern visage of the Celestial King. Though they couldn't tell by his facial expression, they both could hear a softness in his voice when he just spoke. Something about the way he said that last statement made them realize that there was a way to avoid the drama and tragedy that had beset Loke's life.

The royal tilted his head back and peered up at the stars, thinking back on the past.

"The last time I saw such a spirit was in the eyes and heart of a blonde who looked so much like yourself young lady." The King mused wistfully.

Lucy openly gaped like a fish at the admission. Was it really possible that the Celestial Spirit King knew one of her ancestors? It even meant… but that was just a theory… right?

("Did… did my mom ever meet him at one point?") Lucy wondered.

The Celestial Spirit King needed no more persuasion or evidence. As far as he was concerned, he should have done this sooner. It just took time and the reminder of a proud member of the Heartfillia clan to remind him of the bonds between friends and family. In addition to that, Loke stood up for what he believed in to protect someone he cherishes.

Setting his sight on the lion spirit, the King's voiced boomed once more.

"My friend… in light of your service, I see that the fault lies within the law itself. For you had committed a crime in hopes of protecting one of your own. Something of which you should bear no shame or guilt."

Lucy smiled a little, her eyes widening, even as small droplets of sweat went down her face from exertion. Loke on the other hand gazed up as tears streamed down his face. To assure to the lion spirit that he was faithful, the king gave a sagely nod.

"In seeing the bonds of loyalty, duty, honor and love for one another… Loke, better known as Leo of the Lion Palace shall be granted a pardon and welcomed back in the Celestial Realm with open arms!" The Spirit King boomed.

Loke gasped in surprise. The weight of the last few years had now been lifted. For the first time in a long time, he was finally happy. He had gotten his second chance. The lion spirit couldn't help but cover his face with his right hand and openly weep for joy.

Lucy on the other laughed joyfully, managing to get to her knees. The blonde then shot the sign of victory towards the King while giving a friendly wink.

"You rock you magnificently mustached geezer!"

The Celestial Spirit King grinned before letting out a chuckle. After regaining his composure, he looked to Loke who was beside himself at this point. Loke, who was still weeping, looked up to see the King looking down at him. Although the smile had left his face, the King was very much relieved that he no longer had need to see his good friend suffer.

"Now… if you should insist on punishment then it shall be this. Live on in service of thy friend and comrade. Cherish her until the day she dies. Fight by her side and honor thy bonds that shall forever be etched in the stars. That is the penance you shall pay."

With that, the Celestial Spirit King took his leave, shooting back into the stars. After he left, Loke began to shine. Looking towards Lucy, Loke continued to sob in relief and joy. Beaming a smile, Lucy opened her arms and Loke slammed into her, clutching her like a lifeline.

"Thank you! T-Thank you so much! I will honor our partnership! I swear it!"

Lucy simply nodded and rubbed Loke's back to soothe him. He had to endure so much in these past few years. Outside of life at the guild, this was a personal victory for Loke. One of which Lucy would treasure with him for however long they would be partners. Loke shined brighter for several moments before disappearing. When the light faded, a key landed in Lucy's outstretched hands. Leo, the lion spirit, had finally found a new owner. One of which reminded him of life and the meaning of bonds.

"Adventure awaits us both… Leo…" Lucy murmured tiredly.

Lucy smiled and closed her eyes. She brought the key to her chest with both hands and basked in the moment a little longer. Given the stress of the day and the fact she burned through so much of her magic, the blonde slowly fell back and into the awaiting arms of her Dragon Slayer crush.

"Guess we didn't need to worry."

Natsu stood up, holding Lucy in a bridal carry. Behind him, Bardock stood with his arms crossed.

"No. We honestly didn't." Bardock deadpanned.

Natsu took in the steady breathing of Lucy while her head was on his shoulder. He smiled down at her and nuzzled the crown of her head a bit. Seeing how a crisis was averted and he was never really needed, Bardock uncrossed his arms and walked away.

"I'm heading home. I've had enough weirdness for one day." Bardock said with a groan.

With his piece said, Bardock ignited his aura before flying off back home. The wind blew through Natsu's hair as he gazed admiringly at his partner. The salmon haired teen then looked at where Lucy's hands were. Though he kind of felt bad for what he had said and done to Loke, he was happy his friend would live. And this time, he would finally get a chance to live for his friends instead of dying for them.

"Well, I'll be damned man. Looks like you got yourself one helluva partner." Natsu commented with a smile.

Lucy murmured in her sleep before snuggling deeper into Natsu's embrace. Natsu chuckled a bit before placing a kiss on Lucy's head. The son of Igneel turned around and began his trek through the forest.

"I'm proud of you Luce. You just rest." Natsu whispered into Lucy's hair.

And thus, concluded the crisis of the lion spirit. With Loke's dilemma no longer an issue, what awaited the Fairy Tail mages now?

One thing was for sure, things were definitely looking up.

... or were they?

A/N: Done!

Loke is the Zodiac Spirit Leo the Lion. Now hear him roar.

Natsu and Lucy are getting close. Feeling the burn yet?

Of course, we have the confrontation with Laxus, which went a little different from canon. This is a microcosm of things to come. Tensions are rising between Laxus and the guild, best believe that Team Natsu/Fairy Alpha will be at the forefront when tensions reach their breaking point. What will Bardock's role be? Wait and see.

It took Natsu a month and some change just to reach 25G. It will take him some time (along with proper motivation) to reach 50G, 75G and then 100G due to the fact his body is different from Bardock's. Plus, he doesn't use Ki and magic isn't as powerful as Ki (given the obvious power scaling). That said, when Natsu eventually reaches the upper echelons of higher gravity… I'm going to put it like this. There will be mages, bandits and renegades who are going to be afraid of fighting him. His potential is pretty high because he's a Dragon Slayer. And those well versed in the entirety of the Fairy Tail series, he's something else too.

Next up? Fairy Alpha and Bardock go on a bit of a vacation. But trouble arises when Erza's past rears its head.

Hang on a sec! There's another villain that's come for Bardock too? Say it ain't so!

It's true. It's damn true.

As always I appreciate the patience with this story and my other ones. 2021 didn't exactly open up well but we will make the most out of this year.

Reviews, comments, concerns and criticisms… I welcome that stuff.
