(Elijah's P.O.V.)

Bonnie and I followed Claire's scarf from the diner of the next town over, into Mystic Falls and right into the woods.

"So," Bonnie began, breaking the silence that's been accompanying us since we left the diner parking lot. "What are you going to do once we find Claire?"

"First, I'm going to make sure she's okay." I said. "Then, I will find whoever took her and rip them apart limb by limb. If she's hurt, it will be much worse."

"Taking a page from Klaus." She said.

"No." I said. "He took that from me."

When I looked at her, she was staring at me in surprise.

"Not every horrible thing he's done, was strictly something he thought up." I said.

"Good to know." Bonnie said.

"When we get there, I need you to do us a favor." I said.

"What is it?" She asked.

I reach into my pants pocket and take out a piece of paper with an address on it and held it out to her.

"I need you to go to this address." I said as Bonnie took the paper. "Katherine said we would find Emily Bennett's belongs there."

"Not a problem." Bonnie said. "I will do that."

"Thank you." I said.

It was silent once again as we followed the scarf.

"While I was channeling Emily," I heard Bonnie begin suddenly. "I overheard her and the other witches say something that I didn't believe until today."

"What did they say?" I asked.

"That Elijah Mikaelson was finally in love." I heard her say.

I laugh.

"They think that?" I asked, looking at her. "And who do they think I am in love with?"

"Claire." Bonnie said.

"And you believe that?" I asked.

Bonnie shrugged despite the smile that was on her face.

"Bonnie, may I remind you I've been alive for Centuries." I said. "I've been in love before regardless of how it ended. I think I would know if I was now."

"The witches were discussing how different the energies were." She said. "You see, we all have an energy. And they were comparing the energy to how you felt about others, to how you were feeling about Claire now. And while they believe that you did care for others in the past, possibly even loved them, they view Claire as different compared to them."

I think about what Bonnie said briefly before shaking my head and muttering:

"Witches."

As we kept walking, I glanced at Bonnie. She was still smiling.

Her smile bothered me. Not that her smile wasn't lovely. It just reminded me an awful lot like the smile Kol had on his face.

I brought my attention back on the blue scarf in front of us and see it suddenly dashed to the right, then it dashed back and to the left.

"We're close." I heard Bonnie say.

Suddenly, the scarf zoomed forward like a race car.

Bonnie and I ran after it until it made an abrupt stop outside of the woods in front of us.

We walked out of the woods to see we were behind a house.

The blue scarf dropped gracefully down to the ground.

"Oh no." I heard Bonnie say.

"What is it?" I asked, looking at her. "Where are we?"

Bonnie looks me straight in the eye and said:

"We're at Stefan and Damon's house."

I stared at her confused for a moment and looked back at the back of the house; the structure suddenly looking familiar as the back of the Salvatore Boarding House.

I listened very carefully for Claire's heartbeat.

I heard it.

And I knew exactly where she was in the house.

My hands slowly closed into fist as the anger I felt ran through my veins.

I began to walk toward the house.

"Elijah, wait," I heard Bonnie say, followed by a hand on my arm.

I turned to face her.

"What are you going to do?" Bonnie asked.

"I'm going to get Claire back." I said calmly. "And you're going to go to that address right now."

"How?" She asked. "You're not going to hurt anybody, are you?"

"Hopefully it doesn't come to that." I said. "Go. I'll call you later."

Bonnie hesitated a little before slowly backing away from me and running off into the woods again.

Once I knew she was out of sight, I picked up Claire's scarf and started to fold it as I began to walk and tuned into the occupants of the house.

"Nice of you to come back." I heard Stefan say. "Are you going to fill us in as to why you ran out of here like you saw a ghost?"

I place the scarf, now neatly folded, back inside the pocket of my suit jacket.

"Because I thought I did." I heard Damon say.

"What do you mean?" I heard Caroline ask.

"I mean," I heard Damon begin; followed by I'm sure was a dramatic pause. "I'm pretty sure I did."

"Elaborate." I heard Stefan say.

I rounded the corner of the house and saw Claire's car, along with Caroline's and Damon's car's in the driveway. It only intensified my anger.

"What's to elaborate? I saw a ghost." I heard Damon say. "Claire...reminds me of someone who's dead. Pretty sure he's dead, anyway."

"Who does she remind you of?" I heard Elena ask.

When I reach the driveway, I bent down and picked up some of the rocks that separated it from the grass.

"Alaric." I heard Damon say.

It was silent as I walked slowly over to where I would be directly in line with the front door; my fingers rolling the rocks in my hand.

"Alaric?" I heard Elena say slowly; as if she was trying to process what was said.

"Yeah, Alaric." I heard Damon say. "I know it sounds insane, but when I was down there with her, the way she looked and what she said...It was like I was talking to him."

I stopped rolling the rocks in my hand and tightened my grip on them.

"Well, we know she's not Alaric." I heard Stefan say.

"You think I don't know that?" I heard Damon snap at him. "She just reminded me of him today. If I didn't know better, I would say she was related to him. Like a daughter or something. That's how much she reminded me of him."

"Let's not forget she's friends with Elijah." I heard Elena say. "She must know all of us and more than likely knew about how close you and Alaric were and was probably trying to use that against you."

"She's right." I heard Stefan say. "While that would be a Klaus move, I wouldn't be surprised if she was trying to do that."

I take a deep breath and let it out slowly. Then, I pulled my arm back and flicked it forward; releasing the rocks.

They zoomed toward the house and slammed into the building and broke the windows with a loud shatter.

"What the hell?!" I heard Damon say.

"What the hell indeed, Damon." I said loud enough for them all to hear. "I'm sure you've been expecting me, so, let's skip all the pleasantries. Release Claire and I will forget this ever happened. If you fail to do so, I won't hesitate on taking your lives. Which is it going to be?"

"Well, so much for us having time." I heard Elena say, in almost a sarcastic way.

"What are we going to do now?" I heard Caroline ask. "Elijah is clearly pissed and he knows she's here."

"I'll go talk to him. Try to calm him down." I heard Stefan say.

"Are you nuts?" I heard Damon ask. "What makes you think he won't kill you on the spot if he doesn't see Claire with you?"

"He hasn't tried to kill me yet." I heard Stefan say.

"I wouldn't press your luck today." I heard Damon say. "I say we take Claire and bolt. We probably have a couple minutes head start."

"And you think he wouldn't catch up?" I heard Stefan ask. "We would be dead for sure if we did that."

"And you talking it out with him will just end up with me sending flowers to your funeral." I heard Damon snap back at him.

I have to admit, listening to them argue about what to do was quite entertaining.

But I didn't have time, nor the patience, for their nonsense.

As they continued to discuss among themselves, I vampire speed so I was at the back of the house again and opened the back door; walking into the house.

I focused in on Claire's heartbeat and let it guide me throughout the house and past where the four of them were and down the stairs to the all too familiar holding cell.

When I reached the holding cell door, I looked inside the barred window of the door and saw Claire sitting down against the wall with her eyes closed.

Relief washed over me and it felt like all was well again.

I tuned back into the group upstairs and could still hear them talking among themselves.

"Claire," I said softly.

Claire opened her eyes and looked at me; a smile breaking out on her face.

She opened her mouth to say something but I quickly put my finger to my lips for her to be quiet.

Then, very carefully, I unlocked and opened the cell door.

The door wasn't open for even a second when I was suddenly engulfed into a hug from Claire.

I smiled and hugged her back.

Suddenly, I heard footsteps coming our way.

I let go of Claire and pushed her behind me just as I saw Elena, Damon, Caroline, and Stefan round the corner; stopping dead in their tracks when they saw me.

I could feel the vampire side of me threatening to come out.

Regardless, I calmly said:

"Here's what's going to happen, you are going to let us leave here and in return, I won't harm you."

"How about," Damon began. "You tell us why you two are being so mysterious and secretive, then maybe we will let you go."

"Damon, I don't think we're in a position to counter offer." Stefan said quietly.

"You're right, Stefan." I said. "Your not. So what is it going to be, gentlemen?"

Suddenly, I felt a hand on my arm.

I look beside me to see Claire was now standing next to me.

"Look," Claire began. "If I were to tell you the truth-"

"Claire," I started.

"You wouldn't believe me." Claire said, then she said more quietly to herself: "And I definitely get it now." She looked at them. "You're just going to have to trust us, for now, that we really aren't enemies like I told you before."

"Not good enough." Damon said.

I shot him a glare.

"I think I can speak for all of us when I say we want to know what's going on." Elena said.

Suddenly, the cell door slammed shut all by itself.

"Did anyone else see that?" Caroline asked.

The freezer to our right suddenly opened with a bang; causing all of us to look at it.

"If this is some kind of witch voodoo-" Damon began; staring at me accusingly.

Just then, a blood bag floated up in the air and went zooming at Damon; hitting him square in the face. Blood getting all over him.

I look at Claire and saw a small smile appear on her face.

Realizing what was happening, I couldn't help but smile too.

"You really should let us go without a fight." I said, as Damon wiped the blood off his face with his hands. "I would hate to see what happens next."

Stefan, Elena, and Caroline looked at each other. A silent conversation passing between them.

I felt Claire squeeze my arm and looked down at her to see she was looking at something.

"Elena, look." I heard Caroline say.

I looked where Claire was looking and saw a message being written on the wall with the blood that was thrown.

'Let them leave' It said.

I looked at Stefan just in time to catch him looking at me.

He stared at me for a long, long moment before saying:

"Go."

"Stefan-" Elena began.

"They're going." Stefan said, looking at her. "We can't keep them here."

Elena stared at him for a brief moment before rolling her eyes and walking away.

Without saying a word, I take Claire's hand and start to make our way out of the room.

"I'm sorry." I hear Stefan say softly as we walked by.

Claire and I remained silent and left the room; leaving the Salvatore's house shortly after.
