Kakashi was exiting Ichiraku and about to go to the bar where he hoped to find you. It was a nice summer night, only a light breeze was in the air. As he was to turn around a corner, that soft wind brought your voice to his ears.
"I have told you before Kotetsu, I just see you as a friend."
"But..."
"No buts. If you can't deal with it then the best is if we aren't friends anymore."
"(Y/N), wait."
Peeking around the corner, the Sharingan user saw Kotetsu's back and you were storming off in the opposite direction he was right now. He didn't want to get dragged into his younger college's drama, but he did want to see if everything was alright with you, so he searched for you in the direction you went.
You were furious. Kotetsu just kissed you without even giving a hint first, so you snapped. Your reaction was to slap his face because of his audacity, and then explained once more that he was just a friend for you. But at that moment you decided that you couldn't be friends with him anymore. If he didn't move on the last time, even with believing you were dead for almost three years, how would he do so this time? So you ended your friendship. That would be best for him so he could move on and find someone who could make him happy.
It was the right thing to do, but now you were feeling sad and alone. You ended up sitting on a bench, your legs pulled up to your chest as you rested your head on your knees. You had lost your best friend and your first friend. You haven't seen the rest of your former squad yet, so there was a possibility that Tenzo, Edu, Ryo, or Yoshio could still be your friends, but there was no guarantee. Right now, only Kakashi was left.
You felt someone sit next to you and were surprised to see the man you just thought about there. He didn't say a word, he just put an arm around your shoulders and pulled you slightly closer to him. Only his presence made you feel better. But after a while, you remove yourself from him.
"Thank you for your company Kakashi, I really needed a friend to cheer me up right now."
"You're welcome, but I did nothing."
You gave him a smile before getting up.
"Well, I guess I'll go home now."
"What? I thought you were going to the bar."
He didn't mention Kotetsu on purpose.
"Yeah, I don't feel like going out anymore."
"Oh, come on. I'm sure it will help to cheer you up."
He extended a hand to you. You hesitated for a while but ended up taking it.
"You know what, you're right. It will surely help." 'I mean, I was so worried to be alone, so why shouldn't I go out with him?'
The bar was full of shinobis, as usual. You searched for Kotetsu but he didn't seem to be there ('Thankfully'). But Izumo was and he sent you a strange look as you entered behind Kakashi. You followed your former Captain as he made his way to the table with his friends. You recognized Guy right away, and Genma too, but the one buff guy who was smoking and the woman with red eyes next to him, you didn't know their names. As you two got nearer, they all turned to you two.
"Yo, everyone. Do you have some room for two more?"
The only woman at the table slid to the side to make room. "Sure. Come hon, you can sit next to me. At least I have another woman to talk to."
You took the seat next to her while Guy made room for Kakashi to sit in front of you. The gray-haired man introduced you to everyone before getting up again.
"I go grab a drink, do you want something?"
You thought for a bit before asking for an alcoholic drink. It had been a while since you drank, but tonight you felt like you needed it. As Kakashi was gone, Guy put his hands over yours, his eyes sparkling with tears.
"I'm so happy that you and Kakashi are finally back together!"
Shocked you removed your hands from his. His statement was wrong in so many ways.
"What are you talking about? I'm not together with him, we never were."
The woman next to you was surprised. "But he was so broken at your funeral that..."
Asuma stepped in. He knew that his friend preferred that his life would stay private.v"Why do you always have to meddle in other businesses? Just let them be."
You were thankful for Asuma to shut up his friends, but on the other hand, you wanted to know more as to why they thought you were with Kakashi. Before asking you looked at the counter where the man was drinking so you had some time before he came back to the table. You had a feeling that Kurenai liked to talk, so you asked her in a hushed voice.
"What happened during my funeral with Kakashi?"
The red-eyed woman was reluctant to talk, but with some instance of you, she ended up saying:
"Kakashi has been through a lot when he was younger. He saw two friends die and his sensei ended up dying too. He needed many years to overcome that trauma. When you died, well, when he thought you died, he was the same as back then, or even worse. We thought you two had something going on for him to be like that."
Kurenai hoped for answers from you but Kakashi came back, making it impossible for her to ask again. Once more you thought back at what Kakashi said that night before you got kidnapped, but you also thought about that girl that had died because of you. Most likely her family didn't even know what had happened to her. Your drink was put in front of you and caught your attention. You looked at Kakashi.
"Thank you."
You welcomed the alcohol and hoped it would give you some peace of mind. As the night went on and the glasses of drinks filled the table, it surely helped you. Your gloomy thoughts were pushed down and you were happy joining the conversations that were going on around the table. But you needed a refill.
"Now, where is that cute bartender, I want another drink."
Kakashi looked worried at you, but you didn't even notice it.
"Shoot, I think I need to go to the counter to order one."
"Don't you think you had enough?"
"No, one more won't do any harm."
You tried to get up and felt dizzy right away, but stubborn as you were, you pushed yourself to go forward. Kakashi watched you stumble and sighed tiredly before getting up too and announcing to his friends he would get you home. He had quite a few drinks too, so he had to focus to walk straight.
Somehow you managed to get to the counter and just made your order when your friend showed up next to you.
"Don't bother bringing her any more drinks. She had enough and needs to get home." he said to the bartender.
"What are you doing? I'm thirsty, I want my drink." You sulked.
Patiently he tried to convince you otherwise. "Come on (Y/N) it's getting late and I want to go home."
"Then go home."
This wasn't working...
"Okay, then why won't you go back to the table and I will bring you your drink?"
"You would do that for me? Thank you, you're so sweet."
"Yeah, yeah, come on."
He put an arm around your waist and helped you walk, but instead of leading you back to the table, he got outside of the bar.
"Where are we going? I still want my drink."
"Yes, I know. I just thought you might want some fresh air."
It wasn't hard to convince you. Drunk as you were, soon you forgot about that and began to talk happily.
"You're so nice Kakashi. I still remember the first impression I had of you. I thought you were an ass because of the way you would ignore me."
"You had reasons to think that because I really treated you badly."
"And why was that?"
"I was scared you would recognize me."
"Oh yeah. I met you as Sukea first."
You began to giggle thinking back.
"You must have had a heart attack when you found out I would be on your team, no?"
"I was scared as shit." He let out a chuckle. That seemed to be a lifetime ago.
"So, here we are."
You looked around and saw you were standing in front of your apartment building. Kakashi continued to lead you up the stairs until your door.
"Do you have the keys?"
"They are in my pocket."
As you weren't making any movement to get them, he fished it out of your pocket and opened up the door. You didn't want to go home because that would mean Kakashi would leave and you didn't want to be alone again...
The man in question led you to your room and let you down on the bed and removed your shoes.
"Okay, I think you should be fine now."
"I can't go to bed with my clothes on."
You began to take off your shirt and pants as the poor man just stood there not knowing what to do since he was half drunk himself. But eventually, he got a hold of himself and turned around ready to leave. You were at home safe and sound after all, so there was no reason for him to stay. But you seeing him leave just made you anxious.
'I don't want to be alone anymore...'
You hold his arm making him stop and look down into your watering eyes
"Please don't go. I don't want to be alone."
How could he resist you when you pleaded like that? 'I guess if I would only stay until she falls asleep it would do no harm.'
"Okay, I will stay."
He tried to ignore the fact that you were only in your underwear and made you lie on the bed before pulling the sheets over you. He then got to the other side and laid down over the covers. You snuggled into him, your head laying on his chest. You were content with only that. You just felt lonely after coming back, especially because of the loss of Yugao's friendship, and now Kotetsu's. But your drunk brain just didn't think the same way. Kakashi's scent reminds you of all the nights you spend with Sukea, making you long for more than just staying by his side...
You removed your head from his chest so you could be face to face with him. He had removed his forehead protector so both of his eyes were visible, but his mask was still covering half of his face and his mouth.
'Stupid mask. I want to see his beautiful face and kiss his soft lips...'
Your hand moved on its own as you reached to his face to take off his mask, but even in your intoxicated estate, you knew that it was wrong. That's when you searched his eyes to plead.
"Kakashi please, I want to kiss you."
He petrified. He looked down at you, your hand still on his face while your fingers rested on the brim of his mask waiting for permission to pull it down. He wanted so badly to kiss you, to stay the night with you, but you were drunk. He didn't want to take advantage of you right now. But how could he resist you when you pleaded like that?
Sorry for the cliffhanger, but I just couldn't decide right now what Kakashi's decision should be...
