Angels with Newfound Hope
Act 1 Chapter 24: Blood
Alex's Apartment - Day 10, 5:32PM
Alex could finally breathe a sigh of relief after today. He'd just got done texting Bryce, making sure he was alright, and now scanned the pantry for dinner.
"Hm... Not as much in here as I'd like. Maybe I should try ordering from that cafe." He thought aloud before something struck him in the neck. A dull tingling and familiar cylindrical shape immediately gave it away: a tranquilizer dart. The last thing he knew before it all went black was an arm grabbing him...
Unknown Location - Day 10, ?
A blurry cave ceiling met Alex as his consciousness returned. The tight feeling of rope shackled his wrists and ankles together, immobilizing him completely. That was when something else came into view.
"Good evening, ambassador." His stalker spoke from above.
"What do you want? And where the hell are we?" The brunette immediately started, only to be silenced with a boot to the face.
"I'll be asking the questions. First: why are you here? There was only supposed to be one ambassador." The hunter groused.
"Could've been more polite about it. I don't know myself. I was just testing a pet project with a friend, and ended up here with you trying to kill me." Alex spat, some blood flying from his lips.
"I don't believe you. That portal is heavily guarded. Nobody else can get through, let alone hold a 'private experiment'." She snapped. Her cloak parted slightly to show some sort of suit similar to his.
"It's what happened. I went through inside a cave, and came out here. End of story." The male shot back. He needed to convince this bitch not to take him out ASAP.
"A cave?" At least he had her attention.
"Yes. This portal was being kept secret in a cavern. Nobody knew about it unless you looked at the electrical grid too closely." This was getting annoying already.
"That's not right... Next question: Why did you bring weapons? We already have one dangerous person here." The hunter's boot pressed down on his neck, thankfully not quite hard enough to strangle him.
"I... wasn't sure what my destination would be. Last time I used it, I ran into some very hostile civilization." Alex croaked.
"Last time? You used that before?" The cloaked predator pressed. Interrogation never would be Alex's cup of tea, he swore it.
"Yes. All kinds of species against any kind of ape. Thought I was one." The male bluntly stated. He could still see the ferocity in their eyes every time he looked at that sword he kept.
"Then I take it you're stuck here until you can go through again." The hunter glared down through the mask.
"I guess so. So wh-"
"Did I allow you to speak any further?" She pulled his pistol on him. There was something about being on the other end of his own gun that sent a chill up the brunette's spine. One that kept him silent.
"I thought not. Last question. I checked your biometric data the portal tied itself to. It says your world isn't that of Reza's. Where the hell did you even come from?" The cloaked predator forced the gun against his skull. If only he weren't bound...
"Terra. That's all I'll reveal." Alex growled. Thankfully, his wounds were already sealing shut from his augment.
"Terra? That's definitely not right. What is it like there?" She finally picked him up, some worry in her voice.
"Like any other modern society. Why?" The man was starting to wonder what this bitch was on about himself.
"This isn't good. The world should be- Oh god, is this the first all over again?" The hunter pondered to herself before turning back to him.
"Your world. Is your town in the middle of a wasteland?" Now her questions were getting weird. But the slightly hectic tone kept Alex quiet.
"The opposite. Lush forests to the west, and farms to the east." The panicked pacing that followed did absolutely nothing for the brunette's own thoughts. In his own mind, he started piecing things together. This woman was going on about an apocalypse that never happened. Reza mentioned needing generators, even though Terra had a mostly clean energy source. And even the dragons couldn't relate when he mentioned his world. Perhaps...
"Look. You already know what's at stake, so I'll cut you a deal." The female set her stolen merchandise down. "You help me save these dragons, and I'll guarantee your safety." The offer was on the table. Not like Alex could refuse either way.
"Fine. But if you're lying-"
"I'm not. I'll keep away unless you get them killed. This means letting a single generator go to waste." She stated in a low tone.
"Then untie me. I'm no good to you bound up like this." The vigilante ordered calmly.
"I'm afraid I can't. Viper?" The predator called forth Mongoose, who looked Alex square in the eye before sending his vision dark once more...
