Awhile Later
Tree Hill emergency waiting room
"Why is surgery to remove one bullet taking so long!" Lucas exclaimed.
Brooke wrapped her arms around him.
"It's serious surgery in a delicate area of the body the doctors have to take their time." Brooke replied.
Lucas sighed deeply. "She shouldn't of gotten out of the car. None of this would of happened if she would of kept her distance. Why did she put herself at risk.?" He asked.
"She loves you. You're her dad. That was the only thing that mattered to her protecting you. Peyton is the one at fault not you or Sawyer. Please try to remember that." Brooke stated.
"What if she doesn't wake up.? Or the bullet pierced a part of her body and caused lasting damage. I won't be able to forgive myself if." Lucas revealed. Looking away. The emotion in his voice thick.
"Let's take a walk." Nathan suggested.
Brooke breathed a sigh of relief.
"I'll stay here with the boys. I'll be right out if any doctors appear." Brooke announced.
"We won't be long." Lucas replied.
Brooke nodded her head in agreement. Tears welling up in her eyes watching as Lucas and Nathan left the hospital together.
Brooke had been in a daze since she witnessed the horrific encounter.
Peyton's screams. Lucas's despair. Begging Sawyer to stay awake in the ambulance. To stay with him. Only for the teenager's eyes to close.
Feeling the warmth of her sons hands take hers was a comfort.
"Let me go find a vending machine and get the two of you some snacks." Brooke announced.
"We'll get it for you momma. You should rest for yourself and the baby. All this stress isn't good for the two of you." Davis said.
"Why did Peyton's momma shot her.? I don't understand.?" Jude questioned.
"She was trying to hurt Lucas. Sawyer got in the way." Brooke revealed.
When Brooke saw Peyton being lead into the hospital. With two officers by her side.
Brooke got up and made her way towards Sawyer's hospital door.
