The humans brother was released from jail, something about lack of evidence being able to convict the simpleton. He ain't a simpleton! Sookie's voice rang through my mind. I growled at her, forcing her back into a part of my brain I didn't wish to visit often.
I untangled myself from Eric's arms giving him a kiss on his forehead before quickly showering, dressing and walking into his living room. The walls were filled with colours, deep reds, royal blues, the wooden furniture being high quality and no doubt hand-made.
I felt an energy coming closer and closed my eyes as I focused on it, I heard a pop and turned to see Preston standing there with a grin on his face. "I'm still not able to surprise you."
"One would think you're used to it." I grinned back, his energy infectious.
"Maybe." He walked over to me and hugged me tightly, I returned the hug. "I missed you princess."
"I missed you too Preston." I pulled away from him and together we walked into the living room sitting on opposite sides of the room, a coffee table between us. I felt Preston's familiar energy before suddenly there was a map in front of us.
"Starting the planning already?" I smirked.
"I started planning several nights ago." Together we went over the lands the Queen currently possessed, ending with the layout of her home in New Orleans, we argued over points of entry, ways to kill silently and even who would be present during her death, we were so involved in our fighting we didn't realise how much time had passed.
"Don't you two have anything better to do?" I turned to see Pam standing against a wall, her bored expression plastered on her face, I gave her a look up and down, she was dressed head to toe in pink pastels.
"Evening Pam." She was the youngest, so no doubt Eric was awake too but I couldn't feel him anywehere within the house. "Where's Eric?"
"He ordered me to come here, whilst he entertains the vermin." She looked down at her nails, inspecting them for dirt.
"He's in Fangtasia?"
"Well where else would he be?" She rolled her eyes at me, I hissed at her.
"Mind your tongue." I focused my energy onto myself and changed my appearance, instead of a buxom blonde I was now a lean muscled brunette. Slightly taller than before, with bright green eyes, I knew my lips would have a natural red sheen to them, but I paid attention to the smokey grey eyeshadow with a flick of eyeliner making my eyes brighter.
My dress was a tight red number, with a sweetheart neckline but sleeves that went all the way to my wrists but hung off my shoulders. The dress pinched in at the waist but went down to the middle of my thighs in soft layers accentuating my waist.
I paired them with bright red high heels with black spikes. What one didn't know is it was silver coated in black to disguise them. I did a little twirl and got a wolf whistle from Preston and an appreciative look from Pam who tried to hide it when I noticed.
"What's the plan Princess?" With the change to my look I made sure to focus on my voice too, that horrid American accent was gone, returned with a simple English accent.
"The plan is togo to Fangtasia, have some fun." I winked at Preston who promptly changed the way he looked to that of a generic body guard, complete with ear piece and sunglasses. We smirked at one another and left together.
Preston summoned a Bently Continental GT in a dark blue before us, he got into the drivers seat and I sat patiently beside him. It didn't take long for us to arrive and like a true gentleman he got out of the car, opened my door and helped me out of the car. He gave the keys to the vampire at the door to park it, and I entered the club without any issues.
Oh god, another fanger.
No! Master's going to focus on her not me!
Damn! Look at those legs!
I battered my eyelashes at the human who was looking at my legs and enjoyed the way he flushed bright red at being caught. Eric wasn't on this throne, nor was he in his booth. I kept walking towards the bar focusing on the vampiric minds around me, some where interested in me but felt something was off, something was dangerous about me and chose to stay away.
Fucking Stackhouse. I'll fucking kill that bitch, embarrassing me the way she did. I smirked and turned to Preston and whispered under my breath in Fae. "Compton is here, and mightly annoyed with me. Should we fuck with him?"
"Careful Princess."
I flittered to another mind and saw an image of myself bent over a desk, I smirked knowing I found Eric and he was busily distracting himself whilst on a business call. "Cosmo please." I signaled to the small vampire behind the bar, I titled my head slightly whilst examining her and her doing the same. She glared at me whilst placing my drink down which I sniffed slightly before drinking it.
"Hello there." The man from earlier moved over to me. He was cute enough, blonde hair but obviously dyed, blue eyes and a strong, lean stature. He looked like a mini-Eric. The vampire behind the bar snorted so quietly I nearly missed it.
But she didn't miss me looking at her from the corner of my eyes, which merely got a raised eyebrow. I turned to Preston "Who is she?"
"She's Thalia. Older than Eric, but they work well together." I gave a quick nod. I turned my attention back to the man before me.
"Hello." I smiled prettily at the boy.
"May I ask what a pretty girl like yourself is doing in a place like this?" He tired to smirk at me in a cheeky way but it merely came across as arrogant.
"Having a drink, maybe dancing a little." I saw the door to Eric's office open and he came out with a very grumpy look on his face. He perched himself on the throne and looked bored out of his brain.
"Would you like to dance with me?"
"No thank you." I turned away from the human and made my way towards the throne slowly, only stopping when I reached the dancefloor and began my slow seductive dance. I ran my hands along my body trying to entice Eric.
When I looked at him I saw him staring at me with a confused look on his face, his fangs peeking out from his lips. I twirled on the dancefloor. I felt cold hands on my hips whilst I watched him, when I turned and saw Compton I had to hold in my violent instincts. I turned in Compton's arms and shyly smiled.
"Hello." He smiled politely.
"Hello." I forced myself to blush prettily.
"Did you want to get out of here?" he whispered in my ear.
"No." I whispered back before dancing out of his arms and focusing on Eric again, Compton followed me though.
"He already has a pet, but I don't." I managed to stop myself from doing anything too rash.
"We'll see about that." I walked up to the throne and cutseied before Eric.
"Master." I've never seen Eric worried about a simple human girl before, but when I looked up at him from under my thick eyelashes, he got up from the throne and literally flew out of the club. I had to pretend to be shocked, which wasn't hard to fake.
"Who are you?" Compton turned me around, his cold hands digging into my soft flesh.
"I'm no one!" I pretended to struggle in his grasp, having the music stop and everyone turn to look at us, Compton was forced to drop his hands from me.
"I'm sorry ma'am. Can I buy you a drink as an apology?"
"Miss, your father is calling." Preston intervened.
"Sorry sir, I'm afraid duty calls." I gracefully stepped out of the club and into the Bentley. Compton following us onto the street, no doubt focusing on the numberplate which read "urd3adnxt". The moment we were far enough away Compton pulled over and I shifted into my Raven and flew towards home as fast as I could, I heard Eric yelling.
"WHERE IS SHE PAM!"
"I do NOT know! They both left together! I'm not her keeper!" I rolled my eyes, and flew in through the window and shifted back into my normal form.
"Eric, calm down. I'm here." Eric sped to my side and was instantly kissing me with every ounce of passion in his body.
"Where were you?" He asked between kisses.
"In Fangtasia…"
"What?"
"You heard me, in Fangtasia?" I smiled sweetly at him.
"What… What did you see?" He no longer looked shocked but looked cautious.
"Oh everything my lover, I saw you running from a simply drop dead gorgeous brunette. Tell me lover, did you have… Fantasies about her?" I ran my fingers through his hair and nibbled down his neck.
"It was you, wasn't it?" He groaned.
"Maybe… Does that… Excite you?" I didn't get a response verbally confirming my supiscions, Eric grabbed me and took me back to bed and reaffirmed who he truly loves in this world, and it wasn't anyone but me.
EPOV
"Eric, there's something out here you need to see." Thalia mumbled through my office door, brining me out of the fantasy of Susannah on her hands and knees with me behind her. I snarled but hung up the conversation with a vendor that I was only half paying attention to, I rose from my desk and went out to 'entertain' the vermin.
I noticed nearly all vampires watching one area of the bar, I glowered as I sat in my throne. I didn't want to be here, I wanted to be back home with my lover. I glared at Compton who was still here and I unwillingly was unable to kill.
When I looked towards the dancefloor I saw what had capitvated everyone's attention, a brunette with shockingly sexy long legs, a tight waist was sensually dancing right in front of me. I felt myself getting hard at the idea of her crawling towards me. When she looked up towards me, I wanted her plump red lips wrapped around me.
I growled when Compton went to dance with her, she twirled in his arms and I saw the strength in her posture, the poise and grace of her movements capivated me. When she danced out of his arms and towards me I could nearly feel my dead heart begin to beat nervously in my chest. If I still sweated I have no doubt my palms would be slick.
She moved towards me like I was her prey, I wanted to back away from her with the way those green orbs captured me. When she curtsied in front of me, slowly, shyly looking up at me I nearly took her right there right then. "Master". When she spoke, it went straight to my cock.
"Don't expect me to ever call you Master, asshole." Susannah… I looked at the Brunette before me and ashamedily I got up from thethrone and flew as fast as I could away from the girl. I flew back towards my home, back to my lover.
I don't remember the conversation between Pam and I, all I know is Iwent through my house looking for Susannah only to not see her at all, I yelled and cursed for her return. It was only when she flew through that window that reason began to come back to me.
She was now contently purring in my arms, my fingers trailing downher naked spine. "That was a cruel joke lover." I kissed her softly.
"It was hilarious to see you running away from a mere human."
"Please, you exhibt this auroa around you. No other vampire approached you because you felt off. Only Compton is that stupid to ignore it."
She sat up in bed suddenly, I raised an eyebrow and looked at her. "That's fucking it!"
"Care to share with the class?" She got out of bed, quickly dressed herself in jeans and one of my shirts before racing out of the bedroom. I threw on pants and followed her.
"I've got the best plan!" She squealed in joy.
I sat down on the couch beside Pam and pulled her into my arms, she leant back into me and nuzzled my side slightly.
"What if we convince the Queen to host a party?"
"Wouldn't killing her at a party be too obvious?"
"Not if Eric goes as a sheriff, Compton goes as aprocurer, and I go as… entertainment." I began to growl. "not that kind of entertainingment Eric, I'm talking about me shifting faces and going as a singer."
"Not a bad idea. It'd get you in the building with reasonable excuse." Pam nodded her agreement with the plan."
"How do we get you hired though?"
"The King in Mississippi owes me a favour." Karin came from one of the rooms.
"Then it's agreed."
We set out on our plan to trap the queen in our little net, with a little push and shove it was set to be only a few weeks from when we first decided on the plan. Susannah began to research the perfect song to sing to her insuspected crowd. Sam came around a few times and spoke with her, they were still on speaking terms through the rest of the month. I didn't have the heart to stop the friendship when she clearly enjoyed her time with the shifter.
Preston would be running with them as well during the full moon, offering her an added layer of security. I was currently sitting in the office when my phone rang suddenly. "Northman." I answered.
"Sheriff. Your presence is requested for a formal ball in two nights time." Andre the Queens child's tone was bored.
"Black tie optional?" I sassed him, earning me a snarl.
"No." He hung up and I went to pick up a tux.
SPOV
It was finally the night of operation Queenie, under Pam's guidance I opted to have a black hair that hung down my back in soft curls, it was so long it hung down to the bottom of my spine. I had green eyes again and plump red lips. I remained with fair skin that looked soft to the touch. This girl was a little more buxom than both my other girls, the dress I wore was again a sweetheart neckline but was sleeveless. It hugged the curves of my body like a second skin. The dress pooled around my feet hiding the black high heels.
This girl was still smaller than Eric, but at least made it up to his shoulder in these shoes, although I was going tobe unable to dance with him.
I curtsied in front of the queen, she ruffled slightly when she smelt me realising that something was indeed 'different' about me, but wasn't sure what. She waved me away not wanting to appear weak or confused in front of the 'staff'. I heard her asking Andre to keep an eye on me, which made me smile.
"You are toremain on the stage unless taking a break, which Wybert or Sigebert will accompany you." I nodded at the smaller vampire, his tanned skin reminding me of a Spaniard. "well hurry up, get on stage." I managed to stop myself from rolling my eyes and he held out his hand to help me on the stage.
I began to sing, soft graceful numbers until the majority of the attendees were here, the music dropped down into a soft melody.
I've seen what love looks like
I've seen its beauty when it's alive
I was roaming in its paradise
It's gold, it's blue, it's in the skies
But I am a witness to love's death
There's no blood, there's no body, there's nothing left
Oh, my darling, don't you ever forget
I wasn't prepared for the end
Everyone had turned to watch my performance, Eric was standing in the background an eyebrow raised as if in question. The song came to me after remembering a conversation of Eric and I discussing the Gods in bed, feathers surrounding us after a pillow burst.
This is what it looks like
When two people decide
That the love has died
Oh, the love has died
We're all victims of the way it hurts when the love is gone
Forever is not for everyone
We can't undo what's been said and done
'Cause I am a witness to love's death
There's no blood, there's no body, there's nothing left
Oh, my darling don't you ever forget
I wasn't prepared for the end
I channelled the feelings of how Tithonus faced his fate of withering away as Eos remaining young and beautiful forever. The heartbreak he faced watching the one he loved, love another person every day. To never be on the same playing field as his lover, and the curse that came with his immortality. I poured the passion for the song into my voice.
This is what it looks like
When two people decide
That the love has died
Oh, the love has died
This is what it looks like
When two people decide
That the love has died
Oh, the love has died
This is what it looks like
When two people decide
That the love has died
Oh, the love has died
Everyone was watching me as the song ended, only the soft keys from the piano were heard throughout the hall, until suddenly the vampires who refuse to acknowledge their feelings openly with any gesture begin to clap.
Andre appeared and held out his hand and I gracefully accepted as he helped me off the stage, another took my place and began to sing a brighter, chirpier song that many began to dance to. "That was a haunting song." Andre's voice was but a whisper.
"It was a song I was passionate about." I smiled up at him.
"What was it about if you don't mind me asking?"
"Have you heard of the Greek goddess Eos?"
"Of course, she was beautiful, but cursed by Aphrodite."
"Her human lover, his pain is what I sang of."
"Something you are familiar with? The pain of losing a lover?" He raised an eyebrow but pulled me towards the dancefloor at the same time. We began to dance a slow waltz.
"Aren't we all familiar with that loss?" I countered. Andre actually smiled at the bit of banter, we moved gracefully over the dancefloor, it was only went another Vampire interrupted us that I noticed we'd been dancing a while.
"Excuse me Andre, your mistress is calling for you." A man interrupted, his was older than what I had begun to associate with the standard vampire, deep creases and wrinkles covered his face, but it was the polite smile that made me curious of who he was.
"Very well." Andre pulled away from me, gave me a quick smile and began to lead me back towards the stage. The man interrupted again.
"Your mistress doesn't require the entertainment Andre. I believe I will be more than capable of keeping her safe amongst creatures such as ourselves now, don't you think?" The vampire grabbed my hand and began to pull me back towards the dancefloor not waiting for a reply.
"Now, do I get to know the name of such an incredible siren?" I laughed politely at his words.
"My name is Syn, may I also know your name? Or will handsome stranger be all I refer to you as later?" The man laughed heartidly.
"Oh my, now you are just too kind. My name is Russell Bartlett, it's a pleasure to meet you Syn." His eyes twinkled with knowledge of a secret, I raised an eyebrow and smirked. "I do recall knowing a Syn many a year ago."
"Oh?" He spun me around before titling me towards the ground and back up again to continue our waltz.
"Yes, it was in England many, many years ago." I hardened my eyes slightly, but continued to smile.
"What did this Syn do to make her so memorable?" He twirled me close to him and whispered in my ear so low no others could hear him.
"She killed an ancient, in a throne room." I felt a jolt of cold go through my spine, he spun me back out and we continued dancing.
"She sounds thrilling Russell, I'm afraid I'm merely a simple singer." I saw Eric in the background watching me, but trying to appear like he wasn't.
"Oh well, you see I owe that Syn a favour is all." He shrugged his shoulder as the dance came to a close,
Be careful, he's more cunning than we know of. I heard Eric's voice in my mind, I gavehim a nod of acknowledgement.
"It's been a pleasure Russell, I'm afraid I have to go refresh myself." I didn't realise that once I turned Russell would follow me, so when I went to the very back of the property away from all prying eyes and he was still there.
"Oh Syn, I forgot to ask." He said cheerily, shivers went down my spine as I slowly turned towards him. "How is Eric thesedays?"
"Why don't you ask yourself Russell." Eric was standing beside Russell and the vampire began to laugh.
"I knew the rumours were true!" He clapped happily. "I have been waiting so very long for your return." Russel turned back to me and knelt down, I waved him up not wanting others to see.
"How did you figure it out Russel?" I held my hands on my hips.
"Oh please! The name Syn all but gave it away to those who knew you back then. If you said Rae I would have figured it out too. Although the night of you in that throne room is only known to a few, it's but a myth to the newer vampires. Syn it really is a pleasure to see you." Eric growled by remained in his spot.
"Hush Eric."
"What ever you are planning my dear, consider Missisippi your ally, if you're on a war path I do not wish to be on the side you're against." He smiled all too happily.
"Fine, fine. Do not tell anyone else Russell." I gave him a glare, to which he just grinned at.
"Like I said princess, I wouldn't dream of it." He gave a card to Eric. "call me when you're finished here."
Eric stepped in front of Russell before he could leave. "Do not stay in the castle after the party." Both vampires nodded to one another, and Eric follow him back out to the party. I leant against a wall sighing. That was too close…
