MLP: The Portal 2

Chapter 25: Ogres & Oubliettes

"Where are we headed, Spike?" Evan asked as he and Alex followed Spike up through Twilight's castle. Spike chuckled a bit, turning his head back a bit towards them as he explained.

"Well, you see, since all the girls are all away on varied business, this is a perfect time to introduce you to what us guys do when we have the castle to ourselves." Spike said.

"Big Mac was telling me about it the day before. This is definitely right up your alley, man." Alex encouraged Evan as they entered the map room where Big Mac and Discord were already there waiting for them.

"Ahh, finally! You've arrived!" Discord exclaimed excitedly, sitting up a bit from Fluttershy's seat where he had set himself.

"Hey, guys." Alex said with a smile, sitting over in Twilight's seat.

"Good to see you, Discord, Big Mac," Evan said with a polite smile as he sat down. "What do we got going on here? We gonna play some board games?" He asked, stretching out his question humorously.

"Something like that, almost," Spike said, reaching down and pulling out a box labeled: 'Ogres and Oubliettes'.

"Ooh, is that what I think it is?" Evan asked.

"Remember how we were talking about tabletop RPG's? Well this is it!" Spike said, opening up the game box and beginning to take out the different game pieces.

"Oh shoot, we finna go in, bro! What're my options?" Evan asked, rubbing his hooves together.

"Let's see… You can choose between a wizard, a warrior, a spy, a thief, a ninja, or a monster." Spike listed off of the instructions.

"Ninja." Evan chose immediately.

"Nice. What creature do you wanna be?" Spike asked.

"Options?"

"Earth pony, pegasus, unicorn, zebra, bat pony, griffon, or a yak."

"Hmm… Let's go with bat pony. That sounds pretty cool and edgy." Evan answered with a grin.

"Bat pony ninja! We'll start with that. Discord will help you with your design, and then we can get started." Spike said.

"You sure you don't want to get in on this, Alex? There's always room in an RPG." Spike invited him.

"Oh yeah, no, yeah. I'm good, I've already agreed to do the music and soundtrack and general background stuff for this session. If I find a good spot to jump in then I will, but for now I'mma let you guys do your nerd thing." Alex answered.

"Alright. Discord, shall we?" Spike looked to Discord. Discord smirked a bit, beginning to wave his hands in a circle.

"Are you ready to enter the world of Ogres & Oubliettes?" Discord asked. Alex raised his hoof.

"Can I use the bathroom real quick?"

"Aww, really?" Spike groaned. Alex chuckled a bit.

"Heheh, nah I'm just kidding. Yeah, let's do it."

"I'm down and ready." Evan agreed.

"Alright. When we last left our heroes: Garbunkle, Sir McBiggon, and Captain Wuz, they were exploring the strange market city of Coltana as they went to meet with the politician Half Hoof to make an undisclosed deal." Spike narrated.

As he spoke, Discord caused the entire room to shift to the scene that Spike was describing. The walls all shifted and rose to become the market city, and their chairs all moved and changed so that Discord, Big Mac, and Spike's characters were all sitting in a carriage being pulled by Evan's character.

"What a strange place." Garbunkle commented in a low tone, looking around at the unfamiliar surroundings cautiously.

"Where are the three of you going today?" Evan looked back, speaking in a lower tone of voice and using an Arabian-style accent.

"The town hall, please." Sir McBiggon answered politely.

"The town hall? You three do not appear to be politicians. What business do you have there?" Evan asked curiously, studying the three of their faces now.

"We're meeting with the politician Half Hoof." Captain Wuz answered almost in a haughty, bragging sort of way. Evan hummed with intrigue.

"I see. Surely you must be important folk to be meeting with such an esteemed politician."

"Oh yes, absolutely!" Captain Wuz answered with a grin.

"Uh, what are you doing?" Garbunkle asked, leaning over and speaking quietly to Captain Wuz.

"He's impressed!" Captain Wuz argued.

"We have arrived," Evan stopped the carriage in front of the town hall building. "Please, watch your step and be careful around this area. There are many who do not appreciate the political figures here." He advised.

"We'll keep that in mind. Thank you kindly, sir." Sir McBiggon said as the three got off of the carriage and began to make their way inside of the building.

Evan now unhitched his carriage, keeping an eye on them as he made his way to a secluded area. He reached into his back, sliding on a mask that covered his whole face except for his eyes, and a black body suit.

As Garbunkle and the others were escorted through the building, Evan began to scale the building, climbing up to the roof. He made his way through the roof, climbing down into the ceiling to hear below the conversation that was going on.

"Ah, welcome, great heroes!" Half Hoof, a cardboard cut-out of an Earth pony stallion voiced by Alex greeted them with a grin, inviting them inside.

"Greetings, Half Hoof." Sir McBiggon greeted him as the three of them entered.

"It's a pleasure to meet you." Garbunkle said.

"Oh no, the pleasure is all mine," Half Hoof replied. "I'm glad that you three accepted my invitation to come."

"Of course, your excellency! What can we do for you?" Captain Wuz asked, bowing a bit.

"He's not a king." Garbunkle pointed out.

"It's alright," Half Hoof chuckled. "I've asked the three of you here because I'm interested in your services."

"What sort of services?" Garbunkle asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Protection," Half Hoof answered. "I'm about to make a dangerous journey across the country, and I need great and powerful hands like yours to make sure I make it from beginning to end." He explained.

"I see. Protection isn't necessarily something we offer." Captain Wuz pointed out.

"I can certainly make it worth your while if you're interested." Half Hoof said quickly.

"We sure could use the money." Sir McBiggon said to the others.

"Yeah, I guess…" Garbunkle nodded for a bit before the turned back towards Half Hoof. "Alright. We're interested, so let's talk about payment."

However, before any deal could be made, suddenly numerous ponies dressed in black began to burst through the windows and doors, swarming through the room and grabbing Half Hoof. The three of them quickly pulled out their weapons of choice, keeping the sudden ambushers at bay.

The doors on the other side of the room opened up, and Alex stepped in as his own character: he also chose to be a bat pony with blue spiky hair and a gray coat, his cutie mark the same music notes but they were wavy and shaky.

"Who are you?" Garbunkle demanded, using his magic to knock down several ponies.

"They call me Silent Song." He answered with a chuckle, grabbing onto Half Hoof and tossing him into a cage that several ponies had brought in through the back doors.

Suddenly, Evan dropped down from the ceiling in front of the other three characters. Before any of them could attack him, Evan attacked several of the ponies against them to show that he was on their side.

"Get Half Hoof!" Sir McBiggon yelled, pointing forward.

All four of them jumped forward at the same time. Silent Song quickly turned and screeched at them, creating a sonic sonar wave that blasted everyone in the room back. While they were stunned, Silent Song escaped with Half Hoof, and all of his apparent henchmen quickly followed, leaving the four of them alone.

"Who are you?" Captain Wuz quickly demanded.

"My name is Eclipse Knight. I'm assigned to Half Hoof's detail." Evan answered, revealing the name of his character finally.

"I guess we need to save him now." Garbunkle said.

"I guess so." Sir McBiggon agreed.

"As part of Half Hoof's detail, I ask that I join you." Eclipse Knight requested.

"Now this is our normal adventure style." Captain Wuz grinned.

"So, how did you like the first session?" Spike asked Evan once they had wrapped things up.

"Bro, we definitely gotta do this again." Evan said.
