It has been a few days since the whole thing went down at Aaron's gym. This means it has also been a few days since Sebastian assaulted Santana. She hasn't really talked about it with anyone. Brett has tried to talk to her multiple times but she just shuts him down, if she wanted to talk it then she would. Santana figured that Brett must have reached out to Carrie because she has reached out to her also. But just like Brett, Santana assured her that she is fine. The last thing she needs is to try and press charges against him. Santana knows that it is her word against him. There is no evidence or cameras, which means it is a dead case. Even if she saw this come through her desk, Santana would just plead it out. Which means there is no reason to pursue this.
Brett made his way to the gym after he saw Santana off to work. Aaron and Carrie were already there starting today's clean-up. "What am I supposed to do about Santana?" He asked as they cleaned. "What do you mean?" Aaron asked. "I try to talk to her but nothing. She keeps telling me that it isn't a big deal" Brett said, sounding clearly frustrated. "There is nothing you can do. If Santana wants help then she will get it" Carrie said. "Exactly this is kinda her forte isn't it, she is the one to know what to do'' Aaron added. "I know she is but I can't help but feel like I need to help her. She has been essential to my progress, I can't just sit back and do nothing" Brett said.
"Noone is telling you to do nothing. You just need to be her boyfriend, Brett" Carrie said. "Which means do not kick Sebastian's ass because you will end up in jail," Aaron said. Brett groaned, of course, his friends were right, they are always right. "Has Santana been acting any different?" Aaron asked. "That is the thing, she is acting as if nothing happened. Talking to Quinn and I like she always does. Our sex life is still great. She is perfect as always" Brett explained. "I think if Santana is putting this behind her then you should too," Carrie said. This made Brett mad, "I am not going to just put this behind me. That bastard touched her and scared her half to death. That is not okay!" he yelled. "Nobody is saying that it is okay Brett," Carrie said. "All we are saying is that you need to do what Santana wants" Aaron clarified. "If Santana wants to pursue action then you will be there. If she wants to put this behind her then you will support her in that too. Just be there for her Brett." Carrie suggested. Brett slowly nodded, he would do anything for her.
Santana sat at her desk completely buried in paperwork. She actually had the guts to tell Mercedes and Quinn about everything that happened that night. They had tried to convince her to take action against Sebastian but she didn't want to. She is too busy dealing with this case and the detectives think they are close to catching the guy. This means Santana needs to be on her A-game prepping for the trial that comes after an arrest.
A knock on the door brought Santana out of her trance. "Come in" she yelled, expecting her assistant to open the door. To her shock, Mercedes and Quinn walked in. "What are you two doing here?" she asked, smiling. Even though Santana will not admit it, she was excited to see them. "We brought you lunch! Brett said you were late this morning so you didn't get a chance to pack one" Quinn said, placing the bags on the coffee table. Santana smirked, of course, Brett would make sure she still ate lunch, even if he didn't bring it himself. "You better have brought something good," Santana said. She took a seat on one of her chairs while Mercedes and Quinn sat on the couch.
"We brought Sweetgreen," Mercedes said, passing out the salads. Santana dug in and took a large bit. "Someone is hungry," Quinn said, laughing. "I have been running on espresso," Santana explained with her mouth full. "Of course you are, when are you not," Mercedes said, rolling her eyes. "How are you and Brett?" Quinn asked, making conversation. "We are great, how are you and Puck?" San asked. "We are not doing this small talk right now. Let's just get to it, How are you about the whole Sebastian thing" Mercedes asked.
Santana groaned, "We have been over this, I am fine. The guy got me in a moment of weakness which will never happen again," she said. "It wasn't your fault, he shouldn't have touched you like that" Quinn said. "It's not like he hasn't touched me like that before, we dated, remember" Santana reminded them. "But you aren't dating now" Mercedes pointed. "You didn't consent" Quinn added. Santana rolled her eyes, "if I had known this was going to be an ambush, then I wouldn't have let you guys in" she said. "We are not trying to ambush you San, we are just looking out for you," Quinn said. "Look out for me by shutting the hell up," San said, clearly frustrated.
Before Mercedes or Quinn could say anything there was yelling outside in the hallway. The girls looked toward the door. "What the hell is going on out there?" Mercedes asked. Santana turned back to her friends, shaking her head; "I have no idea" she said. The yelling continued, "Do you need to go out there?" Quinn asked. "What the hell am I supposed to do about it?" Santana asked. "Go all Lima Heights on their ass," Mercedes said, smirking while Quinn started laughing. "I'll go all Lima Heights on your ass Weezy" She replied, laughing. Santana couldn't be mad at them, even if she tried.
The yelling continued but this time the girls could clearly hear what was being said, "I NEED TO SEE MY DAUGHTER" a male voice yelled. "Sir, she is busy right now" Sugar replied. "I DO NOT CARE, I AM GOING IN" he yelled. Santana's door slammed open. Carlos Lopez stood in Santana's doorway dressed in a dark suit, looking furious. Sugar came in right behind him, "I am so sorry , I tried to stop him" she explained. Santana stood up from her seat, "Sugar, it is okay. Shut the door on the way out" she said in a calm voice. Sugar nodded and slowly closed the office door, leaving Carlos Lopez inside.
Mercedes and Quinn looked at each other wide-eyed. Neither has been big fans of Santana's parents. In fact, if you ask them, they can't even decide who is worse; Santana's mother or father. But if you asked them right now, they would say Carlos Lopez looks pretty intimidating at the moment.
"Papi, to what do I owe the pleasure," Santana asked, crossing her arms across her chest. "What the hell do you think you are doing Santana!" he yelled. "What are you talking about? We haven't talked for weeks'' she pointed out. "Exactly and you still haven't learned your lesson," Carlos said. He turned his attention to Quinn and Mercedes, "I need some time alone with my daughter" he said. "No, this is my office and those are my friends. They are staying, anything you want to say can be in front of them" Santana said, this way she doesn't need to repeat it all to them later.
Carlos rolled his eyes and looked back at his daughter. "Why the hell did police officers show up at the hospital looking to question Sebastian?" Carlos asked, gritting his teeth. "Did you happen to maybe ask him about it?" Santana asked with an attitude. "He told me this was your doing," he said. "Well your precious resident lied to you, what he did was all on him," San said. "Sebastian is a good man Santana, why do you want to just tear him down all the time?" Carlos asked.
Mercedes scoffed and tried to keep herself from laughing. Carlos glared at her and Quinn elbowed her side. "If Sebastian is such a great guy then why did he trash a military gym?" Santana asked. "You mean that stupid little boxing gym that was on the news?" he asked. "Yes, Sebastian did it," she said. "Santana do not be ridiculous, why the hell would he do that?" Carlos asked. "Because I broke up with him and moved on, that's why," Santana said, raising her voice. Carlos rolled his eyes, "Stop with this nonsense." he said.
"What nonsense are you talking about?" she asked. "You and Sebastian will be back together in no time. Couples hit rough patches all the time" Carlos said. Santana groaned loudly, "for the millionth time, WE ARE NOT GETTING BACK TOGETHER" she yelled. "Santana Lopez, do not raise your voice at me. I am your father" he said, angrily. "You're not getting it so maybe you finally will if I yell it in your face," Santana said sarcastically.
"You're very funny," he said. Santana smirked, "I know," she said. "I expect you to apologize to Sebastian, so we can have a nice Thanksgiving," Carlos said. "That is not going to happen'' she said. "You have already embarrassed me at my place of work. Now you want to make our Thanksgiving uncomfortable?" he asked. "Don't worry it won't be awkward because I will not be there" Santana said. "Yes, you will. Your mother already invited Mr. and Mrs. Smythe '' Carlos explained. "Well have fun because I won't be there. I have plans'' She said.
Quinn and Mercedes watched Carlos start to breathe heavier. It looked as if steam was going to come shooting out of his ears, at any second. They looked worried while Santana didn't look phased.
"Santana Marie Lopez, I expect you at Thanksgiving with Sebastian and I will not say it again. Now I need to go and fix this mess that you caused." Carlos said before walking out and slamming her office door. Santana rolled her eyes and sat down at her desk. "Well that was a nice surprise," she said. "What the hell was that?" Mercedes asked. "He is so much scarier than the last time I saw him," Quinn said. Santana scoffed, "I just can't with him anymore. If I am such a disgrace then why doesn't he just leave me alone?" she asked, tossing her hands up in the air. "Because everyone knows he has a daughter so if you are not in the picture then it ruins his image," Quinn said. She was right. Just like Russell Fabray, Carlos Lopez needed his family to look perfect. His idea of perfect is Santana marrying Sebastian and giving him a bunch of grandkids.
"He is insufferable," Santana mumbled. "So are you going to Thanksgiving?" Mercedes asked. "Hell no. I am having Thanksgiving at our apartment with my boyfriend and our messed up group of a family" San said. "Aww San, I think you are family too," Mercedes said. "I am glad because I already got a turkey. Plus for once I am kinda looking forward to it this year" Quinn admitted. "It's the first one with your brother in a very long time, you should be excited," Santana said. "That and I get to spend it with my best friends," Quinn said, smirking. She got up and made her way around the desk. "Q, what are you doing?" San asked. Mercedes was smirking. Quinn wrapped her arms around Santana, "Why are you hugging me?" Santana asked. "You need one" Quinn mumbled. "Hell, I want in," Mercedes said, and she got up and joined Quinn. Santana groaned as they both squeezed her in a hug. "You guys are annoying," she said. "Love you too Satan" Mercedes said.
Santana began packing up for the day. She was so tired and hungry, Santana just wanted to get the hell out of the office. As she was putting some files in her briefcase, her phone started to ring. Santana groaned reaching for it, hoping that it wasn't her boss or a detective. Santana looked down and saw Brett's picture looking back at her. She smiled as she slid the answer button over.
Santana- Hey soldier
Brett- Hey gorgeous
Santana- What's up?
Brett- Nothing just thinking about you, what are you doing?
Santana- Just packing up, about to leave the office.
Brett- oh good, I am not late!
Santana- Late for what?
Brett- I am outside.
Santana- Outside of where? (confused)
Brett- Your office, now hurry up. I am kinda cold.
Santana- (laughs) you're outside?
Brett- Yes! Now come on I want to see you.
Santana- I am coming, give me a minute. (hangs up)
Santana quickly packed up the rest of her stuff. She was going to bring some files home but then decided against it. She wanted to have a night with her boyfriend, the files could wait till tomorrow. Santana pulled her black peacoat over her black pencil skirt, white satin top, and red blazer. She grabbed her purse, locked up the office, and made her way downstairs. Santana opened the door and saw her man standing on the sidewalk.
"There is my beautiful girlfriend," Brett said, picking her up and spinning her around. Santana laughed, "what are you even doing here?" She asked when he put her down. "I just finished up at the gym and thought I would walk you home," He said. Santana intertwined their hands, "You're so cute, let's go" she said, pulling him. They started walking toward their apartment. "I have to say I love this scruffy look," she said looking at him. Brett was just in jeans, timberlands, and a flannel. His beard and hair were a little longer than usual. Brett laughed, "I look like a bum next to you, people are not going to believe that we are together," He said. "Who gives a shit what people think. The only thing that matters is that I think you look hot" she said. "Well I think you look hot," Brett said with a cheeky grin. "You better," San said, reaching up and giving him a quick kiss on the lips.
As they continued to walk, Brett saw the Baker's Flower Shop sign. "Come on, we are making a pit stop," he said, pulling her. "Brett, I don't need more flowers," Santana said, laughing. "Good because I wasn't planning on getting you any," Brett said, sticking his tongue out at her. Santana fake looked offended, "rude" she mumbled. Brett held open the door for her, a bell signaled to the worker that a customer came in.
Brett looked over and saw Ginny up on the top of a ladder, holding up a shelf. "Ginny, what are you doing?" he asked. Surrounding her was broken glass and water. "Oh Brett dear, I was replacing the water in these vases when the shelf broke," she said. Brett reached up around her, "I got it, Ginny, let it go" he said. "This is my favorite vase, please don't let it fall" she pleaded. "I will not let it fall, I promise," Brett said. Ginny reluctantly let go of the shelf and vase. Brett carefully lowered it and placed it on the counter. "Ginny, the floor is covered in glass, here I got you," Brett said, picking her up.
He placed her on the ground away from the glass. "You are such a good man. Did your girlfriend like the flowers?" she asked, hopefully. Brett raised his arms, "I don't know, why don't you ask her" he said, pointing behind her. Ginny gasped and spun around quickly to face Santana. She smiled big, "You brought her!, oh my goddess, you are beautiful," Virginia said "Thank you and I loved the flowers" Santana replied. "Let me formally introduce you guys. Virginia this is my girlfriend Santana" Brett said. "Nice to meet you, Virginia," Santana said. "Oh no, you don't. You get to call me Ginny. Now come here, I do not shake hands" Ginny said pulling Santana into a hug. Santana hugged the old woman back.
"You guys are just adorable," Ginny said looking between the two. "Ginny, you know that you shouldn't be up on a ladder without someone to hold it'' Brett pointed out. "I know but it is the only way to change the water in the vases'' she explained. "Why are the shelves so high?" Brett asked. "You see my late husband Larry, God rest his soul was a lot taller than me. He used to do this but now it is up to me. Usually, it is okay but this time the shelf broke" Ginny explained. "I am so sorry about your husband," Santana said. "It is okay dear, the cancer was making him suffer. My Larry is in a much better place" Ginny said, with a little smile.
Brett picked up the remaining portion of the shelf, "Ginny, these shelves are rotting. That is probably why it fell" Brett said. The old woman looked upset, "does that mean they are all rotten?" Ginny asked looking at Brett and Santana. "They most likely are," he said. "What am I going to do?" she asked. Brett thought for a second and realized he had a great idea. "I'll fix them and make you a new display. One that you do not need a ladder to change the water" Brett said. Santana was shocked at what was coming out of her boyfriend's mouth. "Oh, Brett dear I can't afford to hire someone" Ginny explained. "I don't need any money, this is my treat," Brett said with a big grin.
Ginny shook his head, "No I can not let you do that". "Think of it as an early Christmas present, plus I am out of work right now so it will give me something to do'' Brett explained. "Santana dear, tell him he can't do this'' Ginny said, looking at her. Santana smiled and shrugged her shoulders, "sorry Ginny, I am on Brett's side" she said. Ginny shook her head, "I am not going to win against you two" she said. Both Brett and Santana said "Nope" at the same time. "Fine but on one condition," Ginny said.
The old woman walked up to Brett and made him bend down. She whispered in his ear so Santana couldn't hear, "Anytime you want flowers for Santana, you don't pay" Ginny said before pulling away. Brett smiled, "deal". Santana looked between the two, wondering what this deal they made was.
"Where do you live Ginny?" Santana asked. She didn't want the old woman to have to walk home by herself. "Oh sweetie, I live right upstairs. Pretty convenient isn't it" Ginny said, smiling.
"I'll clean up this glass, why don't you go upstairs," Brett said. He grabbed the broom. "I just need to do one more thing before I go to bed, Santana dear, can you help me?" Ginny asked. "Of course, lead the way," She said. Santana put her purse on the counter and followed Ginny to the back. "What flowers should I bring upstairs. I need to replace the ones on my mantle" the old woman explained. Santana picked up the beautiful asters, "these are gorgeous" Santana said. "You have a good eye, those are perfect. Why don't you take some" Ginny suggested? "I couldn't, you already gave us some, I can't take more flowers from you," Santana said, putting them back. "Oh Santana it is more than okay, someone should enjoy these, you know before they die" Ginny explained. Santana smiled and took the flowers. Ginny held on to Santana's other hand.
Ginny smiled, "My only child, my baby boy passed away 28 years ago, and then my husband joined him 8 years ago. I've run this place alone since then. And I can say that Brett has been the first person to come in here and treat me with the utmost respect. I didn't think he was going to come back but then he did, with you. He reminds me of my son and all I wanted was for my boy to fall in love. You have a very good guy Santana, hold on to him tight because life can be really short." She said squeezing Santana's hand.
Santana's heart broke for this woman. "I don't plan on letting him go. He is amazing" she said. Ginny was beaming, "I love young kids in love, now come one we need to get back to your man," Ginny said winking. The old woman pulled her back to the front of the store. Brett had finished cleaning everything and making sure that there was no glass on the ground. "Oh thank you dear," Ginny said, hugging Brett. He hugged her back, "I'll be back tomorrow to start measuring things out for your shelves" Brett explained. Ginny looked toward Santana, "will you be back tomorrow?" she asked. "I need to work but I promise to come back soon," Santana said. "Good! Thank you for everything. God bless you two" Ginny said.
Brett and Santana made their way home. Quinn was sitting in the living room when they walked in. "Q, I got some flowers for the dining room table" Santana yelled when she shut the door. "San, Brett came here" Q yelled. They walked into the living room where both Aaron and Carrie were sitting. "Hey man, what's up?" Brett said, sitting on one of the chairs. Santana wrapped her arm around him and stood next to the chair. "I think that fucking prick, Sebastian is going to get off," Aaron said. Santana could feel Brett tighten his grasp around her.
"Why the fuck is he going to get off?" Brett asked. "The police told me that they don't have enough to charge him. But a buddy of mine that works at the police station told me that the chief owes one to some heart surgeon at the hospital. I guess the doctor went down to the station with Sebastian and they both left smiling. Then I got a call saying that Sebastian is no longer a suspect." Aaron explained. Both Santana and Quinn looked at each other.
"That can't be a coincidence," Quinn said. "It is definitely not," San said. "What are you guys talking about?" Brett asked, looking between his sister and girlfriend. "We know the doctor that got him off," Quinn said. "It's my father," San said. "I guess that is what he meant when he said that he was going to fix it" Quinn mumbled. Santana groaned and dropped onto Brett's lap. She grabbed his hand and placed it on her thigh to keep her skirt from rising up. "How do you know it's him? There must be many heart doctors at New York-Presbyterian." Carrie asked.
"I wish I could say it wasn't him but he came by my office today, pissed off" Santana explained. "He was more than pissed," Quinn added. Santana scoffed, "Trust me, Quinn, I've seen him worse," She said. "Damn" Quinn mumbled. Brett squeezed her thigh, "What do you mean he showed up at your office?" he asked. "Exactly what I said. He came by when I was having lunch with the girls. Asking me what I did to get the police looking at Sebastian. I tried telling him I had nothing to do with it and that Sebastian trashed your place all on his own. But of course, my father would never believe that his precious resident would do anything of that caliber." Santana explained rolling her eyes.
"Your dad would really go to bat for that guy?" Aaron asked. Santana nodded, "But you hate him, doesn't he know that'' Aaron added. Santana scoffed, "Oh he knows but he doesn't give a shit. The more I hate Sebastian, the more my father hates me" she said. "Oh, I am sorry Santana'' Carrie said. "Don't apologize, it's been this way for a very long time," San said. "Maybe, if you told your dad what Sebastian did to you. Then he would stop supporting him." Quinn said. Santana was pissed, why would Quinn bring that up in front of everything. Especially when they just had a conversation about it today. "Want to know what my dad would say. He would say 'Santana you probably asked for it. Just do us all a favor and marry him already, then he will be your husband and all will be okay.' That is what he would say" Santana said before getting up and going to her room.
Brett shot Quinn a glare, "Really?" he asked. "We were all thinking the same thing. Sebastian doesn't deserve to get away with trashing the gym or assaulting San'' Quinn said. "I know that and I agree but you don't have to call her out," Brett said. He got up to follow Santana but Quinn stopped him, "Let me go. I know I shouldn't have said it but I know Santana" she explained. Brett nodded and sat back down.
Quinn went and knocked on Santana's door. She didn't wait for her to invite her in because Quinn knew that Santana wouldn't. Quinn walked in and shut the door. Santana was changing out of her business clothes and into some sweats. "I really don't want to have this conversation with you again. If I wanted to press charges I would have, so respect that I know what I am doing" Santana said, not bothering to look at Quinn. "Sebastian shouldn't be able to just get away with all this'' Quinn said. Santana stopped abruptly, "YOU DON'T THINK I KNOW THAT" she yelled.
"HE TOOK MY FAMILY, TARGETTED MY BOYFRIEND AND THEN ASSAULTED ME! OF COURSE, I DON'T WANT HIM TO GET AWAY WITH ALL THAT! I AM SICK OF EVERYBODY CONSTANTLY REMINDING ME OF THAT!" Santana yelled. Santana looked like she was going to break so Quinn grabbed and hugged her. "He assaulted me Quinn" she whispered into Quinn's neck. "I know San" Quinn whispered back holding her close. "There has to be another way to get the police to look into him. My dad can't get him out of it if they have evidence" Santana said. "I will look into it. You focus on your case okay?" Quinn said. Santana nodded, "I am sorry for yelling," she said. "You needed to get it out, Love you San," she said, kissing Santana's temple.
Santana laid down in her bed, burying herself under the covers. Quinn followed her and did the same thing on the other side. The two girls turned on their sides and looked at each other. "I guess we have one more thing in common, Quinnie," Santana said. "And what would that be?" she asked. "We both have fucked up parents," San said. Quinn laughed, "that is very true" she replied. "What am I going to do with my parents?" Santana asked. "What do you want to do?" Quinn asked her.
"That's the thing Q. I have no freaking idea. A part of me just wants to tell them to fuck off and never speak to them again. Then another part of me doesn't want to do that because they are my only family. So what do I do?" she asked. Quinn felt horrible for Santana, she wanted to be able to tell her friend what to do but that was Santana's choice. "I can't make that decision for you San," Quinn said. "It was worth a shot. Why is it when things are good, shit has to fuck it up" Santana said. "I don't know but we have each other" Quinn said, smiling. Santana laughed, "That we do and I wouldn't want anyone else as my best friend," she said. Quinn started smirking, "Maybe one day I'll be your sister-in-law," she said. Santana started laughing, "maybe but it has only been a week" she reminded her. "At least you didn't say no," Quinn said hopeful "You're right, I didn't," Santana said, winking.
After a while, Quinn came back out of Santana's room. The group looked at her, "She is okay and asleep" she said, taking a seat on the couch again. "I heard yelling, I was going to come in but I assumed you could handle it," Brett said. "She needed to get it out, Santana has been holding a lot in for a while" Quinn explained. "She really won't press charges against him?" Carrie asked. "I've known Santana a very long time. If I couldn't convince her by now then she is serious. But we can't let him get away with trashing the gym. There has to be something we can do'' Quinn said.
"Police said they don't have any evidence to charge him," Aaron said. "Her fucking picture in my employee file isn't evidence?" Brett asked. "Nope it's circumstantial, it isn't enough by itself" Quinn explained. "There has to be something," Carrie said, trying to think. The group sat there, trying to think of anything that could get Sebastian behind bars. They spent the next 20 minutes trying to think of things that Quinn kept shooting down because she knew what would hold up in court. "What about a video or pictures?" Carrie asked. "That would be great!" Quinn said. "We didn't splurge for the working cameras, just the fake ones to scare people off" Aaron pointed out. "Obviously didn't work, you cheap bastard," Brett said laughing, Aaron gave him the side-eye. "The people across the street just got new cameras, they could have caught something" Carrie suggested. "I would think the police would have checked that out but it's worth a try," Quinn said.
"I can call the police tomorrow and ask," Aaron said. "No!" Quinn said loudly. The group gave her a weird look. "We already know that the chief is in Sebastian's back pocket because of Santana's dad. If we hand this over to them I bet they will cover it up." Quinn explained. "So what do we do?" Aaron asked. "Carrie and I will go over to the business and talk to the owner. I'll use my lawyer talk to see if we can see the footage. But don't get your hopes up. We don't know if it will show anything or if the police have already got it" Quinn said. The group nodded and were in agreement. They were going to make sure that Sebastian went down for this, for Santana.
Brett decided to have a beer once Aaron and Carrie left and Quinn went to bed. Sebastian was going to pay one way or another and he was going to make sure of it. Brett just felt bad. Santana was stressed out about this case and he knows that she is still thinking about his deployment. Brett tried to reassure her but he knows it still crosses her mind. Santana doesn't need this on her plate too. Brett shook his head, this girl doesn't deserve this. She is too good of a person to be dealing with all of this.
Brett wishes he could just take this all from her. He would rather deal with it than her go through it. All Brett wanted to do right now was go and beat the shit out of Sebastian. He knows that he can't because it will just make it all worse. Now that Brett knows that the police are in Sebastian's back pocket, it would really backfire for him. Brett finished his beer and started nursing his second one.
Brett continued thinking about this while mindlessly switching through channels until he fell asleep.
When Santana woke up she noticed that Brett wasn't in bed next to her. Judging by the fact that the lamp wasn't on, he never came into her bed. She looked over at her nightstand, 1:25 am. How the hell did she sleep so long? Why didn't Brett come into her room? It had been an unspoken rule that Brett slept in Santana's room so she became accustomed to cuddling up to him during the night. She loved the way he wrapped his arms around her. Even if he did not get up as early as her, Santana always made sure to kiss him when she left. Santana didn't like sleeping without him. Part of her thinks that she woke up because Brett was not there. Which means she needed to know where he was. Santana just hoped that he wasn't out running the streets of the city.
Santana got up and opened her door. There was light coming from the living room so she followed it. Santana smiled at the scene in front of her. Brett was laying on the couch fast asleep. Since it wasn't pulled out, she assumed that he fell asleep watching TV. Santana tip-toed her way over, hoping not to wake him up. She grabbed a blanket from the back of the chair. Santana managed to shimmy her way between Brett and the back of the couch. She pulled the blanket over the both of them and laid her head on his chest.
Santana was finally happy with her life. She and Quinn are closer than ever. She is doing amazing in her job and is so close to catching the murderer. She has a great boyfriend, that always seems to be too good to be true. How the hell has Sebastian managed to weasel his way back into her life? Why couldn't life just let her and Brett be? Is that too much to ask?
Brett began to stir. Santana hoped that he wasn't having another nightmare. She rubbed his chest lightly, praying that he didn't wake up screaming. "Hey baby" Brett mumbled, somehow pulling her closer. Santana was now basically on top of him. "I thought you were having another nightmare," she said. "Nope, the smell of vanilla woke me up," he said. "Vanilla?" Santana asked, confused. "Yeah that is what you smell like, I love it," Brett said, kissing the top of her head. Santana rolled her eyes and kissed his chest.
"I am sorry for freaking out today, I am just so sick of everyone bringing it up. I know what Sebastian did but I don't need to be reminded constantly" Santana said. Brett rubbed her back, "You don't need to apologize Tana. We just care about you, that is all" He explained. "I know you guys do" she whispered. "I trust you, Santana, do whatever you think is right and I will support it," Brett said. Santana looked up and kissed the underside of his chin, "Thank you Brett" she said. Santana placed her head back on his chest. "You know I have a queen size bed just down the hall," she said. Brett chuckled and let his hands roam under Santana's shirt, letting it settle on her hip. He loved the feeling of her soft skin. "I like having you this close plus I am too comfy to move" he mumbled. Santana shifted herself, bringing her leg up and over his waist. Brett moved his other hand down to hold her leg. "I am pretty comfy too," Santana said. "Goodnight B" she added. "Goodnight Tana" Brett mumbled, half asleep.
