Two Worlds, Two Souls
Chapter 26: His Desire
Angel's Point of View:
It was agonizing as we waited for Papyrus to come to terms with what Robert had said to our beloved friend and brother. Said younger skeleton stayed within his room for nearly three days after the events in the square with Robert and Maria, and quite honestly all preparations to prepare for Christmas had been halted. We didn't want him to miss out on anything, but Christmas was fast approaching and soon we wouldn't have much time left.
Only a couple of weeks remained, thirteen days if you asked my sister.
And that really worried us.
Sans was stressed by the minute. Sleep didn't come to him as he constantly was watching his brother's room for any signs of him coming down. Papyrus had quiet bluntly told us all that he needed some time to himself. Sans had no choice but to respect that, but he was worried endlessly. He struggled to sleep while his brother was distressed that he ended up staying with me to have any form of normalcy to try and distract him. It left him very drained and it prevented him from teleporting as often when he didn't rest. It concerned me greatly, as well as Frisk.
My little sister was very irritated with the older male bear that had shouted at her best friend, though after some time of letting the anger slimier, she was more upset at herself then anything. She was infuriated that she'd escalated the situation and didn't listen to Papyrus when he asked them to head home as to not irritate Robert.
She thought it was her fault for hurting her friend …
I sighed as I tried to make meals that I knew Papyrus would like and try to cox him out of his room. A plate full of spaghetti sat in my hands before I carefully stepped upstairs while Sans and Frisk lingered below, watching me as I approached Papyrus once more.
He wouldn't come out of his room, but at least he accepted our food and didn't starve.
It was the same pattern every day. I'd walk up with a meal for Papyrus. As soon as I met him at the door, tears still staining orange down his cheekbones, he'd take the plate of food from me, and the glass of milk or juice that I'd provide, before switching it out with the plate from the previous meal to me and close the door. He still needed more time at every chance I had to ask him.
Stepping before the youngest male's room, I knocked softly on the door.
"Papy? I have lunch for you."
I carefully waited.
Papyrus would sometimes ignore who came to his door (mostly me) and hoped that we'd leave him be. When he figured out that I wasn't leaving him, he sighed from the other door and I heard him unlock it. He allowed enough space to switch out the dishes, barely seeing his face.
I was surprised this time when Papyrus opened the door much wider, so I could see him. He was in the most normal set of clothes I'd ever seen on him, jeans and an orange tee shirt, though his favorite scarf from his parents still was around his neck.
"Good afternoon, Papyrus." I gently held up the plate for him. "I brought you lunch."
"Y-yes…" my eyes widened in surprised, that was the most I'd gotten him to talk all week. I could feel the others from below watching and listening with an intense gaze while Papyrus seemed to shrink away from them. "Thank y-you, Miss Angel…"
"Of course."
The similar pattern of exchanging dishes took place. Soon Papyrus had his meal and I had his breakfast dishes from earlier that morning, his favorite cereal and a glass of orange juice. I set the remains on the vanity we'd placed in the hallway recently to go with the Christmas decorations before I went to leave, but saw that Papyrus still hovered in his doorway.
"Can… can I help you with anything Papy?"
"W-well… Miss Angel…" he stuttered quietly, seeming unsure of what to say. "C-could I… talk with you? A-alone?"
I blinked in utter astonishment. Papyrus wanted to talk to me of all people? Not his brother, not Frisk, but me?
I couldn't believe it…
"Of course." As to not startle him, I nodded carefully. I watched his every move to steadily follow. I didn't want to upset him anymore then he most likely already was.
Papyrus pulled back and allowed me into the darkened room he's held himself within for the last few days. Once I was safely inside, he closed the door and set the plate of food and milk on his nightstand for him to eat when he was ready. I watched him sit down on his racecar shaped bed that for once was unkempt and messy. Papyrus' battle armor was laid out on his chair to his desk only a few feet away. This was one of the only times I'd seen him without it on with the exception of bedtime as he waited for Sans to read him to sleep.
With a heavy sigh, I saw Papyrus settle on his bed. He laid his arms on his knee caps and hunched down, trying to stay calm. I cautiously sat next to him, setting a gentle hand on his shoulder to comfort him. I began to rub his shoulders while he sat there, more tears threatening to spill, even as I saw they refused.
Perhaps he'd finally cried as much as he could.
"M-miss Angel?"
"Yes Papy?"
"W-won't you bake for the festival?"
"Wha-" My jaw dropped as I felt my eyes trying to widen beyond their capabilities. "Papyrus, why would you ask me that?"
"Because there's no one w-who can bake like you, Miss Angel. R-robert said so." The skeleton let his head fall into his drawn up knees, muffling part of his voice. "They need you to help with the fair. No one else can help."
And that made my blood boil. All this time, Papyrus was beating himself up over that fact. The words were on the tip of his magical tongue, threatening to break free as he cried himself to exhaustion each night.
They don't need me, they need and want you.
"No."
That forced the skeleton to whip his head back up and stare at me in shock. I flinched at his gaze as it looked so hurt that I almost wanted to retract that word.
But I couldn't. I made a promise.
"B-but Miss A-angel!" Papyrus tried to persuade me otherwise. "The town needs you!"
"They survived without me for years, I'm sure they'll be okay for one more."
"But you're the only one in town who can bake at the moment. The person who normally does it all is ill!"
"And while I feel bad for them, the answer is still no."
"We-I mean… you could help!"
I shook my head. "No."
I felt the skeleton's hands on my shoulders and before I could question him, he shook me roughly, causing my head to spin. "Why?!"
"I made a promise, Papyrus." My hands landed on his to slow him down. I got the younger male to stop shaking me at least, but tears spoiled over and fell onto my skin. He looked so… helpless in those moments.
He really wanted me to help the town.
"A-a promise?"
"Yes, one to Sans and Robert. They're both are aware of it."
Papyrus pulled his hands back so that they landed in his lap. He didn't look at me for a moment while he processed what I told him.
"What promise?"
"That promise comes with a story, if… you don't mind if I explain?"
Papyrus remained quiet. A soft nod of his skull was all he showed me as an answer before he motioned me to continue on.
"I was originally planning on cooking for the fair, it's part of the reason I was doing so much baking in the last weeks of November. I was practicing to get ready to have you and I bake for all those hundreds of people that would be coming to Snowdin." As I recalled the events of only a week ago, it brought about anger I tried to keep at bay. "It was only a week ago that the plan changed."
Papyrus flinched as the hostility coming from my soul. "W-what happened?"
"Maria and Robert came by the house to ask me to help out with the fair. At first, I agreed and began to note all the things I knew you would love to help me with baking. I was looking forward to doing it together with you, but… that's when Robert turned ugly and began to yell terrible things about you. I won't list those things, but they were to the point where I withdrew my earlier comment about helping out with the fair until he apologized for saying such things about you. Robert became… aggressive to the point where I had to forcibly remove him from the house and Maria left after him. I made the promise to them then that I wouldn't help out until Robert gave you an honest apology."
Papyrus shook then. His bones rattling at my words "A-and Sans knows about this?"
"I made the promise to him that I wouldn't bend, no matter what." I took the hand of the younger male's into my own. "Papy, you mean so much to me, you're like the little brother I never had. I couldn't understand why Robert was doing all this, but I wasn't going to let him get away with it. I laid out my terms and conditions. If he follows through and apologizes to you, I will bake for the fair. But only if he means it. Otherwise, they will have to deal without me. Though… if he does actually stop being a royal jerk, I'd love for you to help me."
"R-really?" Papyrus sniffled at the thought, bringing a hand up to wipe the tears away as I saw a small smile appear on his skull. "Do you mean that?"
"Of course I do!" It brought me such warmth in my chest to see him smile again. "I can't do anything without my partner in crime in the kitchen. What would I do without you Papy?"
"You never needed my help." Papyrus shook his head, but the smile shown much more brightly on his skull. "But still, thank you Miss Angel."
I giggled at him. "Oh come on! Where would I be without the help of the Great Papyrus?"
"Nye heh!" The laugh that came from him made me so relieved. However, it was short lived as his skull leaned forward, leaning on my shoulder while his arms wrapped around me. "Why am I so tired, Miss Angel?"
"You're emotionally exhausted. It's very normally Papy." Patting his skull, I helped to guide him onto his bed. "A nap will help you feel better, and then you can help me cook dinner later, if you're up for it."
"I'd like that but… w-would… would you…"
I saw his eyes glance to the space next to him, nervously asking me to stay. To be perfectly honest, all of us needed a nap after the stress of the last few days. Sans hadn't slept good and I knew Frisk could rest at any given moment if she put her mind to it.
"I have an even better idea Papyrus. Could you stand for a moment for me?" The younger brother gazed at me I confusion before he nodded, standing up and allowing me to pull him from the room. I quickly opened the door and pulled along Papyrus into the hallway, leading him down to my and Frisk's room. The two others in the house gawked at me as I pulled Papyrus easily along before I stopped in the hallway.
"Frisk! I need your help!" My sister only spared Sans a look of surprise before she bolted up the stairs. I kneeled down next to her and whispered quickly my plan into her ear. Quickly did her eyes light up in eagerness before she rushed to our room and items were moved and thrown. She raced around us, running in between all the rooms while I glanced down at Sans who looked up at us in both astonishment and relief.
"Pap!" A quick teleport had the older brother standing beside us as he hugged his brother tightly. Papyrus wasted only a second before his arms came around his older brother in the tightest hug he could manage. "You doin' okay, Bro?"
"Yes Sans… I'm… sorry for just refusing to talk, I just needed some time…"
"Don't worry 'bout it. Its cool." Sans pulled back just enough to see Frisk race by us again, this time pulling pillows from the boys' rooms. "But what's the tiny terror doin'?"
Frisk poked her head out of our bedroom to poke her tongue out at Sans before darting back inside. I couldn't suppress the giggle that escaped me as I led the skeleton brothers into our room. Once inside, Frisk had done wonders on the room within the limited time had.
All blinds had been pulled to with the only source of light being from the hallway we came from and the small night light to see where we were walking in the dark room. On the bed had been placed nearly ten pillows, some of them stacked up and a blanket hanging over the top with a rod I saw Frisk had grabbed from the closet. It was one of the most amazing forts I'd seen her make in under ten minutes.
"Wowie! A pillow fort!" Papyrus' sockets glowed in eagerness and before anyone could say anything, he dived under the blanket walls. "It's so comfy!"
"Yes, well, I thought all of us could use a nap after the last few days." The sight was so sweet as Papyrus nestled in while Frisk leapt in after him, both of them moving to the far side to make room for Sans and I. "One of these days we'll do a slumber party with a fully decked out fort, but for now, I think we all could use a few z's."
Crawling in after the two, I laid next to Frisk who nestled between Papyrus and I. Sans took to the edge behind me and laid flat on his back. No sooner had his head hit the pillow did Sans begin to snore, causing the rest of us to roll our eyes.
I curled in between everyone while the rest began to settle down. Frisk latched onto her best friend while Papyrus curled into her warmth. A much more at ease look on his face as we all drifted to sleep.
Later That Day:
…Why?
I always seemed to be in quiet the predicament whenever I slept in the same general area as Sans. While it didn't bother me to be nestled in between everyone, I had a small problem that caused me to be quite red in the face. My heart rate increased and I had absolutely no idea what to do.
Shit.
Shit was right.
While Papyrus and Frisk and curled into one another, Sans had managed to turn in the mist of his sleep, wrapping one of his arms around my torso. The arm that was wrapped around me fell over my hip and was party under the edge of my shirt, hovering dangerously close to my rib cage.
But that wasn't the worst of it…
Somehow Sans had managed to slip one of his legs between my own and it was gently set against my womanhood… he was still fast asleep, not even noticing the movement or my stiff form once I woke.
How in hell was I going to make it out of this one?!
Witch's Note:
Our precious cinnamon roll! Oh, how precious he really is! More concerned about the town rather then his own feelings, and Angel shoves that right back in his face and is like "nope, your feelings matter!"
So now Papyrus knows about the promises, but Angel still refuses to give in. How long do you all think that will last? Will she be determined enough to wait it out until the end of the fair? Or, is there a rare chance that stupid bear will fix this entire mess?
Mystic Girl says, "Fuck you bear!"
Honestly, what am I going to do with that woman?
And now for our most recent reviewers!
ShunGod: Oh, wouldn't that be amazing! Mystic Girl is right there with you heading the banner to the war against him. Sadly, I have to put that on hold for now until the next chapter where you can once again scream war songs and raid his home.
RoseCentury: Bi-Polar Disorder, I've heard its hard to work around or with. Since you work with those who have it a bit more closely, do you mind explaining what its like? Just for curiosity, and perhaps something I could use in a future story!
Akatsuki Demon Keira666: Welcome to the story! So happy to see a new reviewer! So happy you like it so far, and yes, Papyrus is such the sweetheart and cinnamon roll! I love typing with him. You will love what I do with him and Frisk later on when I flush out more of their characters!
Ceoko: Oh, my goodness, love! Its so good to see you again! Long time no see! How are you? And I know right? You don't mess with Papyrus and get away with it. And I think Robert has learned his lesson, for now, at least. Don't you think?
Love you all and I hope to see you next week! Hope you all enjoyed this little chapter, and let's not forget that little sneaky bit at the end there with Angel and Sans in that… unique position! Eh? Eh?!
Don't forget to review! Love you all!
