A/N: While it long missed Mother's Day, I think it's fitting that this one is released at least on the month of mothers.
Oh and to the guest asking about a Dirge of Cerberus fanfic, Sorry but I got enough on my plate as it is.

Bullies
KAIRI: It can be difficult to feel like you belong when there are those who would put you down.
"Come on, show more confidence!" said Ayame, as she walked to the beach with Rachel, Genma and Hitomi.
"I-I'm sorry," the mayor stammered out nervously. "I just... I don't know if Kairi will accept it. What if... what if she doesn't want a new mother?"
"Mayor Hitomi," said Rachel, "For the past couple months, I've seen how fond of you she clearly is. I bet if you ask her, she'll be the happiest she's ever been since arriving here. Not to mention, you've been doing a lot better since she came into your life. I think this would make you both happy."
"Besides," Genma chimed in, "she seems very convinced that she'll never see her real family again. I think she would welcome the chance to have a someone here that she could call family."
"I... I guess you're right." Hitomi took a deep breath as she gathered her courage.
However when the group reached the beach, their attention was drawn to an unpleasant sight. The first thing they saw was Riku on an older boy's back with his arm around his neck as if choking him, while the older boy struggled to get him off. The next thing they saw was Sora flat on the ground battered and bruised. And the last thing they saw was Kairi on her knees staring at Sora with eye flooded with tears while a brown haired girl sat next to her and seemed to be trying to comfort her. (1)
The grownups approached as Genma shouted, "Hey! What's going on!?"
Immediately Riku let go of the older kid, who coughed a bit as his rubbed his neck. The older boy then pointed at the silver head. "This punk choking me, that's what!"
"Who are you calling a punk, Marcus!?" Riku snapped. "You're the one putting my friends down for no reason!"
Ayame ran up to her hurt son. "Sora! My god! Are you alright?!"
Sora groaned deliriously. "Is...Kairi...alright?"
"I'm sorry..." Kairi sobbed as she covered her face. "I'm sorry..." Hitomi rushed to the redhead and pulled her into a hug.
Rachel rushed to the other girl and said, "Selphie, what happened?"
Selphie pointed at Marcus and cried, "Mama, that jerk said mean things to Kairi and made her cry! Sora got mad and then... and then..." The brunette was shaking before her mother pulled her into a hug.
Hitomi's eyes narrowed as she looked at the bully. "Is that true?" she said firmly.
Marcus rolled his eyes. "Aw what do you care? It's not like you're this alien girl's mom!"
This caused the mayor to glare at him. "Whether I am her mother or not, she is my charge and I care for her," she let go of Kairi before stomping towards the boy, "and I will NOT stand for you spouting that kind of trash about her! Where do you get off treating such a sweet, innocent, and wonderful little girl so cruelly just because she's not from around here? Shame on you!"
Marcus got so intimidated by the woman he attempted to run, only to be grabbed by the arm by Genma.
Hitomi continued. "Now you are going to apologized to her right now! You are going to look at her in the eye and say you're sorry!"
The bully hesitated before muttering, "I'm...sorry...
"Louder!"
"I'm sorry! Okay?!"
The mayor didn't look very satisfied but decided this would do. She then looked at Genma. "Take this boy home, and make sure his parents know what he did."
"Yes, Mayor Hitomi," Genma then pulled the boy away.
"Also tell them that if he ever bullies Kairi and her friends again he WILL be punished for it!"
Marcus shuddered, while Genma smirked as he thought, Not even official and already quite the Mama Bear.
Hitomi then turned to the others, looking at Kairi, who sat there staring at her in awe, though still teary eyed and shaky. The mayor approached the little girl and knelt down softly gripped her shoulders. "Are you okay Kairi?"
The girl said nothing, she just stared a moment longer before throwing herself onto her caretaker and began crying into her chest.
Hitomi embrace her lovingly, and rubbed her back in comfort. The question she was about to ask was gonna have to wait.
The next day, Kairi sat in Dr Summers' office in a very depressed mood. The doctor sat across from her with a concerned gaze, she had been told about the bullying incident, and wanted to help her through it.
"I know it's hard, Kairi. But can you please tell me everything that happened."
Kairi looked down. "Selphie and I were playing beach ball. I hit the ball too hard and it hit that boy, Marcus. I said I was sorry, but he was mad at me...not because of the ball...but because of the attention I got. He said people wouldn't 'shut up about me'. It annoyed him. Then he said...he heard talk...about me not being from this world." She started to quiver. "He...called me...an alien... He told me...I didn't belong here...that I should just...disappear..." Tears began to run down her cheeks. "Then Sora came...and he was yelling Marcus...telling him to...take back what he said... And when he wouldn't...Sora fought him...but got badly hurt...and then Riku came and started choking Marcus..." She then started sobbing. "It was horrible..."
The doctor got up and put her hand on the girl's shoulder comfortingly. "Sssshhh... It's okay... It's all over. We won't let anyone hurt you like that again."
"But Sora... He got hurt because of me... I was so scared... If I hadn't been so weak..."
"Sora did what any friend would do. It's only natural to wanna stand up for someone you care about, and he cared enough to defend you from a bully. While I don't condone recklessly picking a fight like he had, his heart was in the right place, and his courage to do what he thought was right is admirable. And being scared is nothing to be ashamed of. It happens to everyone. No one can fault you for that, and I know Sora wouldn't hold it against you either. He wouldn't have chosen to protect you if doing so bothered him."
Kairi paused for a moment in thought before muttering, "...Why...?"
"Hm?"
"Why is everyone...so nice to me?...I'm not from here...I don't belong here...I am...I..."
Summers then place her finger on the girl's lips to shush her. "We are nice because we care. Do not listen to a word Marcus said. People like him only say things to put others down. That doesn't make what they say true. I mean, so what if you come from another world? That doesn't at all mean that you don't belong here. As far as I'm concerned...as far as Sora, Riku, Selphie, their parents, and especially Mayor Hitomi are concerned, you do belong here."
It took a moment for Kairi to calm down. Once she did, she asked. "Does Hitomi really care about me?"
The doctor gave her a warm smile. "Of course she does! The first day she brought you into my office, I could see how attached to you she was. And these past couple months I can see how happy having you in her life has made her. She certainly wouldn't have put that bully in his place so firmly for you if she didn't care about you." An idea the popped in her head. She hoped the mayor would forgive her for this. "Dare I say it, I think she loves you like a mother loves her daughter."
That statement gave Kairi an unfamiliar yet warm feeling inside. Though she still had no memory of her old life, something inside told her that she never had a mother before. And the thought of Hitomi being her mother just felt right to her. But...would she want to be her mother? She didn't know. "You...really think so?"
"You should ask her yourself. What's worse that could happen?"
Kairi looked down, contemplating if she should do that or not.
After her session, she walked to the beach where she saw Sora and Riku sitting on the beach, their wooden swords lying on the sand next to them.
"Seriously, Sora," she heard Riku say. "You're too hurt to duel for a while."
Indeed, the brunette was bandaged up and still had visible bruises. He groaned, "But I'm bored! I hate not being able to do anything fun."
"Well, maybe you shouldn't be picking fights like that."
"Hey, he wouldn't stop picking on Kairi, okay!"
"I know but-" the silver head paused when he noticed the redhead approaching. "Oh Kairi!"
That caught Sora's attention. "Kairi! Are you okay?"
Kairi looked down. "I...don't know... Um Sora?" She bowed to him in shame. "I'm so sorry! You got hurt because of me! If I hadn't been so weak..."
Sora then waved dismissively. "Hey! It's not your fault! It was Marcus who did this to me, not you. I promised I'd protect you, didn't I? Yeah, I got beat up, but it was worth it. And it also means I just gotta get stronger so I can keep that promise."
The girl was reminded once again of the vision she'd sometimes get while watching the boys duel. The one of the teenage boy swinging a real sword. She looked at the wooden swords and those word replayed in her head. I will use this to protect what I cherish. Suddenly, inspiration and determination filled her heart as she grabbed one of the swords.
"I know you said you'd protect me, but..." she took a deep breath. "I wanna protect you too."
"Are you sure, Kairi?" asked Riku.
"I'm sure... I don't wanna be weak anymore. I wanna be strong, like you. And maybe...we can all protect each other..."
The boys stare at her in awe for a moment before Sora smiled brightly. "I like the sound of that! Yeah! I'll bet the three of us would make a great team!"
Riku smirked. "Well if that's how you feel, who are we to say no?" He then grabbed the other sword. "You ready to start practicing?"
Kairi nodded, determined to get stronger. She did not want anyone getting hurt because of her ever again. Like the swordsman from her visions, like the Key Witch from her dreams, heck even her Giant Guard Dog and Lucky Fairy, she wanted nothing more than to protect what she cherished.
"...So listen child. Even in the deepest darkness, there will always be a light to guide you. Believe in the light, and the darkness will never defeat you. You're heart will shine with its power and push the darkness away."
That night, Hitomi tucked little Kairi in bed telling her that story from the girl's Angel Grandma, something she had started doing for her ever since she heard about it. As the mayor finished up and about to say good night, Kairi spoke up. "Hitomi?"
"Yes, Kairi?"
"Um... Thank you...for what you said yesterday on the beach... It...meant a lot."
The mayor smiled as she caressed the girl's hair. "You're welcome. No matter what anybody says, it won't change how I feel about you. As far as I'm concerned, you are a very special girl."
"Really?"
"Absolutely!" Hitomi then thought for a moment. Maybe now is a good time to ask her. But before she could open her mouth to speak, Kairi spoke first.
"Um...Can I...um..." the girl hesitated, still unsure of herself.
The violet-haired caretaker tilted her head curiously. "Go on...ask me anything."
Kairi took a deep breath. "Can I...call you...Mommy?"
Hitomi gasped lightly. To say she was shocked would've been an understatement. Here she was just about to ask the girl if she wanted to be family, and then suddenly the roles are reversed instead. Just hearing this girl asking her if she wanted to be her mother lit a fire in her heart she hadn't felt since she lost her husband. Soon tears started leaking from her eyes.
When the redhead saw this, she fidgeted, worried she had said something wrong. "A-are you okay? D-did I s-say something bad?"
The mayor snapped out of her stupor, and shook her head with a smile. "No...No you didn't." She sniffled as she spoke. "You just...made me so happy just now. I was so worried that...you didn't want to be a family with me. I lost my family...and had been so alone in this house. And then you came...and helped me find happiness again. You...really are a wonderful girl!"
Kairi stared at her in awe. "Does that mean..."
Hitomi nodded. "Yes! I would love to be your mommy!"
Now it was Kairi's turned to shed tears of joy. "Thank you!"
"No... Thank you." The newly named mother then embrace her new daughter before planting a kiss on her forehead.
The little girl smiled as she said, "Good night, Mommy."
"Good night, Sweetheart."
With that, Hitomi stood up, turned off the lights and left the room, giving the happy child one last look before closing the door. The mayor had only one thing left to do: Sign the adoption papers.
And meanwhile, Kairi drifted off to sleep with a smile on her face. At last she has a family. At last all doubts were blown away: She was not alone anymore.
Traverse Town, a world where those who had lost there homes could take refuge. It was this place where a handful of survivors of the fall of Radiant Garden were now living. It had been a couple month, and yet many were still struggled to adjust to the situation. Many questioned if they would ever return home again. Not helped by the fact that there was still no word from the other transports, which Merlin was currently looking into. Cid had been helping the citizens as best as he could, with Squall, who was now insisting on being called Leon due to his shame of not being able to save his home and comrades, and Aerith assisting. Being confined to a wheelchair, Laguna could do very little but lend whatever guidance he could.
As for Skadi, it took a few days after arrival but she decided that she wanted to help the people, and so she started assisting with the heavy lifting. When the truth of her involvement with the scientists' immoral experiments, they had mixed feelings. Some were more welcoming to her because she had saved their lives during the crisis. Some merely didn't know what to think, being wary of her. And then others who were...upset at what she took part in. Definitely the most vocal about their displeasure was the Farrons, whose daughters Skadi had witnessed herself being abducted and yet did nothing to stop it, not that she could blame them. And out of all people to defend her from them, the last person she ever expected was Mrs Holt despite what happened to her own daughter.
Skadi strolled through the streets, stretching her aching joints after another day of hard work. She sat down on a bench as she looked around and saw people gazing at her, and she felt...uncomfortable for more reasons than one. The ones who looked at her with praise, made her uncomfortable because she doesn't believe she deserved it, and the ones that gave her the stink eye only served to remind her of that. She still felt bad about everything.
Soon someone approached her. "You look tired."
The tall girl looked up and was surprised to see who it was. "Oh! Mrs Holt!" While the woman had defended her these past months, this was the first time she actually spoke with her. "Y-yeah, I've...just been working."
Mrs Holt sat next to her. "You do seem to be a hard worker. I mean you've been working nonstop for months."
Skadi chuckled softly at that. "Funny... Before all this I never wanted to work at all. I always thought that everything was a drag, especially schoolwork."
"A lazybones, huh?"
"Yeah, and then I let those scientists make me taller and stronger, and suddenly I start working more than I ever had in my life. Honestly I don't know whether to scold myself or pat myself on the back for that."
"If I may ask, why did you do it?"
Skadi sighed. "Being shorter than most people my age, I was either practically invisible to some or the butt of many a joke to others. It was tiring and I wanted to just stand out for once and not be made fun of. So when this eye patch wearing guard tells me he could make me taller, I took it. I wasn't expecting to get stronger...nor being made to fight off those...Heartless or whatever they're called. While I did indeed stand out in a good way and no one made fun of me, playing the part of a hero gave me more attention than I was aiming for and I was working more than I expected to. And I still am...if for no reason than to try and make up for what I neglected to do."
Mrs Holt look around at the people gazing at the hero before saying, "If you ask me, I think you're working a little too hard. You ought to relax every now and then. Working too much and not relaxing enough is not good for anyone, especially heroes. I don't think any of your supporters will mind if you took some time off. It's okay to be your old lazy self once in a while."
"Maybe..." Skadi paused for a moment before looking at the woman. "May I ask you something?"
"Of course!"
"Why are you so willing to help me? Shooing my haters, and now giving me advice... Aren't you upset about your daughter?"
Mrs Holt sighed before looking up at the sky. "Well...I'm not happy about it, that's for sure. I won't lie that I wish you had told everyone what they were doing sooner...told me that you saw my Lucky in the cells sooner. And I'm still processing the whole experiment deal. But...I saw you saving lives while I was evacuating, and I've seen how hard you're working to make up for your mistakes.
"The Farrons aren't wrong though. I personally witnessed their daughters' kidnapping, and I did nothing to stop them, all because they once threatened to take my power away if I ever talked or did anything to stop them, and I didn't wanna lose what made me popular." The girl then scoffed at herself. "Dumb excuse, right? Even worse in hindsight when I start to wonder if they were even capable of removing the experimentation in the first place given that as far as I'm aware they never did so for the others, especially the one who looked like she didn't like what happened to her. So for all I know, they may have been bluffing." She sighed. "I can't believe how stupid I was going along with it all in the first place."
The woman put her hand on the tall girl's shoulder. "Everybody makes mistakes. What matters is that you learn from those mistakes, and not let them define you. You're still young, so you have a lot to learn. And some people just know how to take advantage of a kid's ignorance. As far as I'm concern this is more on them than you. And above all else, I believe in second chances, and I believe you deserve one."
Skadi looked down. "I...I'm really sorry we couldn't rescue her."
"Don't be. I saw how overwhelming the Heartless's numbers were. I doubt even you could've been able to do anything. Besides...I just know my little girl is still alive out there somewhere."
"How can you be sure?"
Mrs Holt puts her fist up to her chest. "It's just a feeling I have. Everyone says I'm in denial, or delusional, but I like to think of it as a mother's instinct." She then looked down. "The real question would be: If she was able to come back to me, would she? Lucky has always been a timid girl. Always worried people didn't like her stuttering all the time. It was quite the accomplishment for someone of her nature that she was able to be a school reporter and interview students like the famous Kai Hikaru." She sighed. "If what you told me about what happened to her is true, then I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't want to show her face, afraid I would reject her for what she looks like."
"I guess if my experimentation had given me nonhuman features, I might've felt the same way."
The woman then look at the tall girl with a pleading look, "Bruta...I-I mean, Skadi...Can you do something for me?"
"What is it?"
"If by any chance you happen to see my daughter, can you please tell her something? Tell her that I don't care what happened to her, or what she looks like. All I want is to see her again. Can you please do that for me?"
Skadi was unsure. There was no guarantee that Lucky was even still alive. But looking at the poor mother's eyes, she just couldn't say no. "I will, I promise."
Mrs Holt smiled warmly. "Thank you..."
The Chaos Squad was having a series of sparring matches. Cloud had a match with Ryu and won, and Lightning had a match with Cyclops and lost. Serah didn't fight at all because her defect made it risky to even use her powers consciously. Lucky was not much of a fighter, though she has started studying to learn magic, so far learning healing magic.
Kai was sparring with Dhampir and was not having a good day. The vampire pushed him into using his full werewolf form. Despite the beast's strength and tenacity, his inability to think straight combined with Dhampir absorbing his power every chance he got wore him out in no time. Soon the beast fell on the ground as he reverted back to his human form.
Dhampir dismissed his scythe "You are powerful, Lycan, but you're also pathetically predictable!" Kai growled in response. "You really ought to get your beast under control. It impairs your judgement too much." (2)
The redhead scoffed. "Whatever..." He got up from the floor and walked to the side of the room.
Lucky then approached her roommate. "Are y-you alr-right?"
Kai waved it off, "I'm fine..."
Nonetheless the pinkette coat her hands with healing magic and placed them on his shoulder and chest to soothe his pain. "I th-think you did a g-good job. A lot b-better than I'd do a-anyway."
The redhead glanced at his roommate who was giving him a warm smile, but he doesn't say anything.
The two were being watched by the Ryu, Cyclops, and Dhampir, and Ryu let out a fake gag. "Ugh... Barf!"
Cyclops shook his head. "She should be focusing on her training, not worrying about that angry mope."
"Hikaru lost one parasite only to get another one. We should just rid ourselves of that insect anyway. She's practically useless."
"No kidding! What use is she if she can't even fight?"
"Patience you two..." said Dhampir. "It's far too soon to judge. Don't forget, Insetto's sedative pheromone could come in handy. If nothing else she could keep Lycan from spontaneously letting out his beast. No need for the mindless monster tearing this place apart." He turned to everyone. "That'll be all for today. Dismissed." He then walked off with Cyclops trailing behind. Lightning, Serah and Cloud all left without word.
Ryu however kept his gaze on the roommates who had their backs turn to him as he mutters. "Unless the raging beast tears her apart." He slunk closer to the two, ready to strike with his reptilian claw. Just as he lunged towards Kai, Lucky saw him out of the corner of her eye.
"L-LOOK OUT!" The bug girl shouted as she pushed Kai out of the way, blasting pheromones at the reptile freak.
Seeing this, Ryu quickly threw his monstrous arm back which then stretched out abnormally and latched on to a wall. He then pulled himself away before he could reach the cloud of fairy dust. Once he landed he chuckled. "Is the mutt so weak that he need his flea to protect him?"
"Y-you coward! A-attacking fr-from behind!"
The psycho laughed. "You, calling me a coward? Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. You who are so ashamed of your bug-like appearance that you can't bear to be seen by anyone. If that's not a coward, I don't know what is." He then stretched out his arm toward her, grabbing the collar of her dress, pulling her to him. "Shall I show you what this "coward" can do!"
But before the reptile experiment could act, he suddenly found himself with a face full of beast claw courtesy of Kai. He lost his grip on Lucky, as he was then slammed against the wall before being thrown to the other side of the room.
Lucky looked at the redhead in awe. "Kai... Th-thank you..."
The boy merely glanced back with a small smirk.
Ryu got up and growled. "Must you always ruin my fun?"
The redhead glared at the maniac irritated. "I don't see anything fun about tearing other people down just because you can! Especially to someone who's done nothing wrong!"
"This is our lives now! Only the strong survive! It is no place for weaklings! As her superior, I'm merely putting her in her proper place!"
"Ugh! You really have nothing better to do, don't you? You needing to feel strong by harassing those you think are inferior. It's pathetic really, almost pitiable considering how weak it makes you look!"
Now Ryu was furious. "PATHETIC!? PITIABLE!? WEAK!? You must really have a death wish, don't you Hikaru!"
Kai rolled his eyes. "Tough talk coming from the guy who never won a single fight against me in his life. All bark and no bite, typical Ryu Kurai."
"THAT'S IT!" Ryu snarled as his monster arm expanded slightly before a long spike jutted out of his palm. "You two die today!" He then started rushing over to them.
Thinking fast Lucky called out, "K-Kai, h-hold your b-breath!" Once he did as she told, she unleashes a dense cloud of pheromones. The two vanished from sight as Ryu paused outside the cloud.
Ryu clicked his tongue with annoyance. "Cowar-" He was cut off as Kai leapt from the cloud, shoulder slamming into him.
The psycho snarled and started to charge again, only to halt when a laser beam suddenly moved between them. The three turned to see Cyclops and Dhampir had returned and did not look happy.
"What's going on here?" The monster-eyed thief inquired.
The vampire experiment approached them. "I don't recall sanctioning this fight!"
The pheromone cloud dissipated as Lucky stated. "I-It was R-ryu. H-He tried t-to a-attack Kai. A-and th-then me."
Dhampir's eyes narrowed. "Is that right?"
Ryu snickered, not even bothering to deny it. "Ah I just wanted to have a little fun with those lovebirds."
Kai tilted his head in confusion. "... Lovebirds?"
"Of course! You and bug girl share an apartment. And she clings to you like a flea on a dog. Poetic considering she's a bug and you're a wolf."
Lucky found herself blushing at that comment, while Kai's eyes narrow. "I am paying her back for caring for Kairi, that's all."
"Oh really? Then you really have no need for her. Why not let me kill her? Or do you just like having a pathetic weakling to take care of? Does it make you feel strong or something?"
"Shut up! You know nothing!"
Enough!" Dhampir shouted. "This bickering is pointless!" He then approached Ryu. "Reptile, whether you like them or not, they are your teammates. You do not attack them, unless it's a sanctioned spar."
The psycho scoffed, threatening with his reptilian arm. "Ah! No one tells me what to do!"
Unfazed, Dhampir the vampire merely grabbed the arm and drains Ryu's energy, causing him to grunt in pain as his arm to shriveled up. "I thought you would've learned by now not to test me! I am the leader of this squad! What I say goes!" He then lets go of him before turning to Kai and Lucky, the latter hiding behind the former. "And you two. We are squad mates, but there is no fraternizing between members."
The redhead scoffed. "Are you seriously listening to that whack job? I owe Lucky. This is why I defend her and why she is staying in my sister's room."
Cyclops rolled his eyes. "Whatever floats your boat!"
"Honorable to be sure," said Dhampir. "Just don't take it too far. The last thing we need is conflicts of interest within the squad."
"Whatever..." said Kai. "Come on, Lucky." He started walking away with Lucky in tow.
Ryu then just had to get in one last jab. "That's right! Take your little girlfriend and run away."
Kai grunted in frustration when he heard this, but he realized what the maniac was doing and decided not to dignify it with a response. And fortunately the vampire had enough of his antics made certain he'd shut up.
As the roommates walked, Lucky looked down, still embarrassed by Ryu's comments. "K-Kai... I-I'm sorry. I-I-If I-I'm a b-bother I-I'll l-leave you al-alone."
Kai was silent for a moment before he replied, "... No... You're not a bother at all... I promise... That lunatic just wants to get under our skin. And... thank you for your help back there."
"I-I couldn't j-just let him a-attack you like th-that. And th-thank you for you're s-support..."
"As I said, I owe you. You did what you could to protect Kairi. So, I'll protect you."
Lucky blushed, flattered by that declaration. "Okay..." As she shook off her embarrassment, she couldn't help but think about their team-up move against Ryu. She began to think maybe she could do more to help him. He said he'd protect her, but shouldn't she protect him in return?
KAI: Dealing with a pest that wants nothing more than to tear others down is very aggravating. It was honestly enough to drive me insane. Oddly enough, Lucky was the only one making this nonsense bearable. I have someone new to protect...but will it be enough for me once my ambition is fulfilled?
A/N: And there you have it.
If you had wished that I had actually shown Marcus bullying Kairi, sorry but bullying scenes more often than not unsettle me, and I'm not sure I could do such a scene justice. But I felt such an event necessary to strengthen the girl's bonds which is why I included it at all. So now Kairi has officially been adopted by the mayor. And as you can see, the vague memory of her brother has inspired her to take part in sword fighting, meaning she'll be a better fighter now than in canon. Though once we get to the events of the games, don't expect her role in kh1 to change much, that'll come later.
Footnotes:
(1) This is basically how I picture a bullying scenario with the three kids happening: Kairi getting bullied, Sora defending her only to get beat up, and Riku stepping in to take care of the bully himself.
(2) Thanks to Kris for roleplaying this scene with me.
