Chapter 26 – A fresh start
Amelia screamed in rage as she watched Harry fall to the ground in front of her. She immediately began stalking Bellatrix, rapidly firing every curse she knew at her as quickly as she could as she moved around her. You could see the panic building in Bellatrix's eyes as it became more and more difficult for her to block Amelia's curses. Death eaters and Aurors alike stopped fighting to watch the war that was raging before them. Amelia's eyes swirled with bright red flames as she progressed on Bellatrix, anger and grief battling for dominance on her features. Each spell grew more powerful than the last, until suddenly a bright blue light shot from Amelia's wand burning a hole through Bellatrix' shield and striking her right in the chest. Bellatrix's eyes grew wide in shock and pain before she burst into flames and then imploded and settled onto the ground in a pile of ash.
Amelia then turned her rage to the remaining death eaters that had already started to back away. The Aurors watched as the minister single-handily cut down every masked death eater and werewolf until the ground was covered in mutilated bodies and nothing but silence remained. Amelia stood among the carnage, panting and wiping tears from her cheeks furiously. When she realized there were no opponents left, she walked back towards Harry, fell to her knees and put her head in her hands in despair. The Aurors all turned away to give her a moment to grieve.
Amelia refused to look at Harry. If she didn't look at him, she could pretend it wasn't real at least for a while longer, but she was forced to look at him when she heard a familiar whisper saying the three words she thought she'd never get the chance to hear.
"I love you, Amelia." Amelia gasped and looked up to see Harry looking at her with love shining clearly in his eyes. She was shocked into silence for a moment before she regained control and spoke.
"That's the first time you've said that to me," Said Amelia softly with a smile.
"I'm sorry, dying made me realize I should have said it ages ago," Harry replied. Amelia's smile faded at his words and her anger soared as she remembered where they were and what had just happened.
"What were you thinking Harry James Potter-Black? How could you do that to me? How could you leave me?" Yelled Amelia gaining the attention of the other Aurors that had been giving her some privacy. Harry winced at her anger.
"You would have done the same for me Amelia," said Harry gently as he reached his arm up and pulled her head down for a impassioned kiss. They pulled apart when they heard Tonks' wolf whistle nearby.
"But - you - how," said Amelia still crying.
"Sirius helped me out," he said as he sat up. "It's a long story. I'll tell you later." Amelia nodded and stood, reaching out her hand to help Harry up. Everyone stared at him in shock.
"Well you don't look undead," said Tonks jokingly as she wiped her hands over her face to remove the tears that had stained her cheeks. "So, I guess that means you're the boy who lived again."
"Just don't let Skeeter hear you say that," groaned Harry in return.
"Kingsley," said Amelia abruptly as she looked around at the carnage. "Can you take care of this mess? We can meet tomorrow and discuss what to put in the official report, but I'd like to get Harry looked at and make sure he's okay." Said Amelia.
"Of course Minister. We will take care of it," said Shacklebolt with a nod as he started directing the other Aurors around.
Amelia wrapped her arms around Harry and apparated them both directly to Potter Manor. When they got there Harry kept Amelia from pulling away by wrapping his arms around her shoulders.
"Marry me, Amelia?" asked Harry. Amelia looked at him in confusion.
"I already am Harry." She responded.
"No, I mean tonight. Or tomorrow morning if that's not possible. But I love you, and I don't want to go any longer than I have to without you being my wife." Said Harry sincerely. "I don't want to take the chance of missing anything with you." Amelia sighed.
"I'll make you a deal. You let Madam Pomfrey give you a check-up to make sure you are alright and then I'll marry you tonight." Said Amelia with a mischievous smirk.
"Deal," said Harry with a beaming smile as he pulled her in for a prolonged kiss.
"Let's go then, it's already late. You're lucky I've already bought my dress." She said over her shoulder as she sauntered towards the fireplace and floo'd to Harry's quarters at Hogwarts. Harry quickly followed and they walked to the hospital wing hand in hand. Madam Pomfrey was just getting ready for bed and looked at them disbelievingly when she saw them walking in. Neither of them realized the dirty, battered state their clothes were in, both covered in blood and ash. Though Harry, surprisingly, didn't have a scratch on him.
"What have you two been up to?" Madam Pomfrey asked incredulously.
"Harry has survived the killing curse, again,"said Amelia nonchalantly. Madam Pomfrey gave Harry a brief shocked expression but then schooled her features and started running a diagnostic spell.
"Shouldn't be surprised really," she mumbled under her breathe. Then she lowered her wand and said louder "He's healthier than I've ever seen him. Any past damage done to his body has been healed. It's as if he's been given a new body." Amelia raised her eyebrows at this and looked over at Harry, noting that he didn't seems surprised by this.
"Well that's great. Isn't it Amelia? Guess we can get on with your part of the deal then?" He asked. Amelia just kept staring at him.
"Harry, your scar is gone! Can - Can I see your back?" she asked. Harry nodded and turned around as he lifted up his shirt.
"All of your scars are gone, but how? I watched you jump in front of Bellatrix' curse Harry. I watched you die. How is this possible?" Amelia said hysterically then she started to pace as tears fell of their own accord.
"This is a dream, it has to be. Oh merlin, he really is dead, and this is just a dream." She thought as she began to panic. Harry could see that she was struggling so he took her by the hand and gently led her over to a chair. He kneeled in front of her and took her chin in his hands looking at her intently.
"Let me explain Amelia, please. I promise this is real," said Harry gently. Amelia nodded and took some calming breaths. Harry wiped her tears away with the palm of his hand then kissed each cheek, then her nose and lastly her lips where he lingered until Madam Pomfrey cleared her throat.
"Right, sorry Madam Pomfrey, I got a little carried away," he said as he flashed her his signature lopsided grin. "Anyways, when Sirius went through the veil, apparently he ended up in some sort of limbo. He said he made a deal with death to allow me to come back to you. He took Voldemort's soul fragment with him and I just have to send the other pieces as soon as I can. I know it sounds unbelievable but it's true. I'm really here." Harry paused for a long moment before he sighed and continued.
"I think I can show you the memories if you want. I got to see my parents, Amelia; it was amazing. I wish you could have been there to see them," finished Harry as he leaned in to kiss her chastely aware of the matron still standing nearby.
"So the Horcrux in your scar is gone?" Asked Amelia in delight.
"Yes," responded Harry. Amelia launched herself at him wrapping her arms around his neck and hugging him tightly.
"I still can't believe you survived the killing curse, again, but I am so grateful I haven't lost you. However," said Amelia pulling away and looking at him sternly. "If you ever do anything as foolish as that again there will be nowhere for you to hide to escape my wrath." Harry nodded.
"Well since you seem to be better than fine, I guess it's my turn to fulfil my side of the deal," said Amelia with a smile.
"SCOURGIFY" she said as she cleaned them both up and fixed their torn robes. "You go find Susan and anyone else you want to be there, and I will go speak with McGonagall and the headmaster."
"As you wish, minister," Harry said with a grin as he kissed her hand and then left the hospital wing.

When Harry got to the Gryffindor common room, he found Hermione studying by the fire. She smiled at him when she saw him walk in.
"Hermione. Can I speak with you in private for a moment?" asked Harry.
"Sure Harry," she said as she closed her book and followed him to his quarters.
"Amelia and I are getting married tonight." He blurted as soon as they walked through the portrait hole. Hermione looked at him in surprise. "A lot has happened. I promise I will explain everything later. I know how to get the tracker to work so we will need to sit down and have a long conversation anyways, but for now, will stand up with me? You're my best friend Hermione. I can't really think of anyone else I'd want to be there with me." Hermione ran forward and pulled him into a crushing hug.
"Of course I will Harry. I would be honoured," she responded with a bright smile and tears in her eyes.
"Great, I need you to go Potter Manor and get my fancy dress robes. I know Amelia bought several, so whichever one you think looks best is fine and then find Narcissa and tell her that Amelia and I are getting married and have her get changed into something nice and then bring her back with you. Meet me at McGonagall's office when you are done," instructed Harry. Hermione nodded and stepped into the fireplace. Once she was gone Harry went into his room and pulled the marauders map out of his trunk. He looked at it reverently for a moment and then let out a sigh.
"Sirius," he whispered. There was no response.
"Sirius," he said louder. Still nothing. A tear rolled down his cheek as he pulled the note out of his pocket. The information he needed for the tracker was on one side and on the other was a brief note from Sirius.
'Live pup.'
"I'll work on getting the soul fragments to you soon Sirius, I just have to marry Amelia first. I'm sure you understand." He said into the empty room as he put the note safely in his trunk.
'TEMPUS'
"Alright it's only 15 minutes until curfew so she's probably in the Hufflepuff common room," he thought as he opened the map.
"I solemnly swear I am up to no good." The map came to life and he searched for Susan. He started with the Hufflepuff common room, then her dorm room. When he didn't see her in either of those places he grew concerned and started to look elsewhere. "She's not in the Gryffindor common room either. Maybe she is on her way back to the common room." He traced the path from the Gryffindor common room to the Hufflepuff common room and eventually found her in a broom closet near the Hufflepuff entrance.
"What is she doing in a - oh-," said Harry as he noticed the name next to hers in the same closet. His face lit up in a smirk as he left his quarters and followed the map down to the Hufflepuff basement.
"Mischief managed," he whispered when he reached the closed broom closet. Then he put the map in his pocket and threw open the door causing Susan and Neville to break apart with a squeal.
"Susan Amelia Bones," thundered Harry. "Don't make me ground you." Harry's smirk grew even wider at the embarrassment on both of their faces.
"Harry, we - we were just saying goodnight," stammered Neville.
"Yes, I can set that." Harry said as his eyes moved from Neville's discarded cloak to Susan's completely un-buttoned shirt. Susan looked down and gasped, quickly starting to rebutton her shirt.
"Your aunt is in McGonagall's office and is in need of your help. If you hurry, I promise not to tell her where I found you," said Harry. Susan nodded and ran down the hallway without looking back, continuing to button her shirt as she went. Harry scowled at a nervous Neville for a moment before breaking out in laughter.
"I'm glad to see you are getting out of the green house Neville," said Harry with a teasing grin. "Now, come along I could use your help." Said Harry as he turned and walked in the same direction Susan had just ran.
"Where are we going?" asked Neville.
"To my wedding. Just one more stop to make." He led Neville even further down under the castle then along several chilly corridors until they reached the entrance for the Slytherin common room.
"It's kind of creepy down here", said Neville.
"Yah, I know," said Harry. When they reached the bare stone wall Harry asked out loud to speak with Professor Snape.
"Please," he added just in case. Moments later an irritated Professor Snape came walking down the hallway behind them.
"What do you want Potter? Curfew is in two minutes. Does being engaged to the minister mean the rules don't apply to you anymore?" sneered Snape.
"I need to speak with Draco. It is family business." Snape scowled at him but relented, knowing he couldn't argue with a lord about family business. He gave them one last withering stare before walking back to his office.
"Wait here. He'll be out in a moment," said Snape as he walked away.
"He acted like I wasn't even here," said Neville.
"Probably a good thing," responded Harry. True to his word a few minutes later a confused Draco Malfoy wandered out of the common room.
"Is everything alright?" Draco asked anxiously "Is my mother okay?"
"Yes Draco, everything is fine. Amelia and I are getting married, and you and Neville are the guests. Grab your best dress robes and meet us in McGonagall's office as soon as possible. You do know where that is don't you?" asked Harry.
"Yes Potter." Said Draco with a scowl.
"Good, now don't waste time," said Harry as he turned towards the staircase.
"Same goes for you Neville. Get your best dress robes and meet me at McGonagall's office," said Harry when they got back to the main level. Neville nodded and ran up the stairs. Harry reached McGonagall's office and knocked on the door. He was surprised to hear loud giggling coming from inside the room. Hermione opened the door enough to stick her head out. When she saw it was Harry her eyes widened and then she quickly closed it. Harry went to knock again but as he did Hermione opened the door and slipped out with his dress robes, shutting the door firmly behind her.
"She's getting ready, Harry. Dumbledore is setting everything up in the great hall. All you have to do is just put this on and then be in the great hall in one hour." Hermione didn't even wait for him to respond before she went back in and slammed the door in his face. Harry waited until he saw Neville and Draco approaching and then dragged them to his quarters to help him get ready.

When Harry left the hospital wing Amelia turned to Madam Pomfrey.
"Well, would you like to go to a wedding tonight Poppy?" said Amelia brightly with a smile.
"I would love to. Just send someone to tell me when and where and I'll be there." Amelia nodded and left for McGonagall's office. When she got there she knocked on the door impatiently and nearly ran into the room at Minerva's soft 'come in'.
"Minerva, Harry and I are getting married right here, right now," said Amelia as if she was talking to new recruits. Minerva looked at her friend in astonishment before realizing she was being serious.
"Right, well let me get the headmaster, then," said Minerva as she walked over to the fireplace and briefly spoke with Albus before moving out of the way so he could step through.
"You want to get married right now Amelia? It's nearly curfew? Why the rush?" asked Albus curiously. Amelia explained to them what had happened and Harry's insistence that they do it now when he had returned Horcrux free from limbo.
"He survived the killing curse, again? How extraordinary," said Albus, lost in thought. Amelia coughed to get his attention.
"Sorry. Very well Amelia. I will prepare the great hall. Shall we say midnight then? I assume you can make do without a reception?" Amelia nodded. Albus gave her a kind smile and then left. McGonagall turned to her in excitement and gave her a hug. Then she pulled out two glasses and a bottle of firewhiskey.
"Do you have a dress, Amelia?" Asked Minerva.
"Yes, but it is back at Potter Manor, I'll have to –" but before she could finish they were interrupted by a soft knock on the door. Amelia opened it to see a flustered Susan staring up at them.
"Oh good, Harry found you," Amelia said, completely missing the deep blush that appeared on Susan's cheeks at the comment. "I need you to go to Potter Manor and get my wedding dress out of the closet in my study and bring it back here." Susan raised her eyebrows at this, but wanting to avoid being asked any questions she readily agreed and left for Harry's quarters. Fifteen minutes later, Susan returned with the dress and Hermione and Narcissa trailing behind her.
"Come in, come in." said Minerva to the new arrivals as she poured one more glass of firewhiskey for Narcissa, who took it gratefully.
"Well, you have your dress. So, we just need to do your hair and then you'll be ready to go." Said Narcisa kindly. "Have a seat Amelia." Amelia smiled at her and sat down behind McGonagall's desk. Narcissa came around and started working on her hair. After a couple rounds of firewhiskey the three women were giggling and exchanging stories of Harry, while Hermione and Susan watched on in disbelief. Suddenly there was a loud knock at the door and Hermione jumped up from her chair
"I'll get it," she said as she nearly ran to the door. Her eyes widened when she saw Harry. She immediately closed the door and then went and grabbed the dress robes she had brought that were hanging over a chair. She stepped out of the room and handed them to Harry and told him to be in the great hall in an hour.
"It was Harry," she said when the others looked over at her after she shut the door. "I told him to be in the great hall at 11:30." Amelia nodded.
"Thanks Hermione," she said gently.
"Susan, we should probably go put on something a bit nicer?" said Hermione shyly trying to come up with a reason to leave the room.
"Here take these," said Professor McGonagall as she moved over to her desk and wrote something down on a sheet of paper before duplicating it. "That way you won't get in trouble if Filtch catches you in the corridors." Susan and Hermione took the papers gratefully and started to leave.
"Wait," called Amelia. "Will you run up to the hospital wing first and let Poppy know the wedding will be at midnight in the great hall." Both girls nodded and quickly left the room. Minerva moved back to the lounge chair and relaxed into it while she watched Narcissa put the final touches on Amelia's hair.
"I still can't believe your actually marrying Harry Potter, Amelia, but I must admit it is lovely seeing you this happy," said Minerva sincerely.
"I thought I lost him Minerva. I've never been so angry – I –" she paused and looked up at Narcissa. "I'm sorry Narcissa, I killed your sister tonight." Narcissa frowned but didn't stop her work.
"Bella made her choices. I don't blame you." Said Narcissa gently. Amelia looked back to Minerva.
"I tried to get mad at him about dying for me, but he was right I would have done the same for him. I can't imagine my life without him," confessed Amelia. Minerva smiled at her friend and stood up to squeeze her shoulder gently.
"I'm glad you have found love again Amelia, you deserve it more than anyone else I know." When the girls returned in evening gowns they all helped Amelia into her dress and then when it was about fifteen minutes to midnight they walked her down to the great hall.

Harry was pacing the great hall nervously while Madam Pomfrey, Neville and Draco were sitting in the seats Dumbledore had conjured. In the middle of the rows of chairs was a long red carpet that ended at an elegant archway covered in white roses.
"Calm down Harry. I'm sure she'll be here soon." Said Dumbledore with an understanding smile. Harry glared at him and kept pacing.
"Oh, to be young," Albus said with a chuckle. Before Harry could respond the big double doors opened and Hermione, Minerva and Narcissa walked in. Harry quickly walked over to his place next to Dumbledore. Narcissa sat down next to Draco while Hermione and Minerva took their respective places.
"Are you ready Harry?" asked Hermione as she tried to tame his hair.
"Yes," he said as he slapped her hand away and looked anxiously towards the double doors.
"Take a deep breathe Harry, she'll be here in a moment," said Hermione with a giggle. Just as she finished speaking Harry heard the sound of the doors opening and he held his breath. On the arm of Susan walked in Amelia. She was breath-taking in a strapless, flowing white gown. Narcissa had done a wonderful job on her hair and there was a light dusting of makeup adorning her features. She smiled at him lovingly as she walked down the carpet. When they reached him, Susan gave Amelia a hug and then went to sit next to Neville. Harry stepped forward and took her hand and helped her the rest of the way, refusing to let go once they reached their spot in front of Dumbledore.
"You look stunning Amelia." Said Harry as he kissed her hand. Amelia blushed prettily.
"We are gathered here today to join two faithful souls," said Albus Dumbledore. "Harry, Amelia the moment you met you began building a strong foundation for your relationship based on honesty and respect. You have found joy in one another's company, and you have become better, more fulfilled people because of your connection, shared values, humour, and unconditional love for one another. As long as you maintain these qualities, you will have a long and successful marriage. You were pushed together by circumstances outside of your control, and you fell in love by chance, but you are here today because you are making a choice. You both are choosing each other. You've chosen to be with someone who enhances you, who makes you think, makes you smile, and makes every day brighter. However, keep in mind that as a relationship matures, it is natural to become complacent. It is important for you both to remember not to take your partner for granted or to neglect your relationship because your relationship so far has been easy. Instead, give priority to the tenderness, gentleness, and kindness that you each deserve. Share your passions and discover life's deeper questions. Pursue new experiences, grow together, and most importantly, laugh often. There will be difficulties ahead, but if you face them as a couple, with a strong sense of love, perspective, and mutual support, you will not only survive, but thrive. A brief moment in time and the waving of a wand are all that is required to create the magical bond of marriage, but it takes a lifetime of love, commitment, and laughter to make a marriage durable and eternal. The process of marriage does not begin or end today; it is a lifelong pursuit. Your relationship already has all of the necessary components for success, but you must maintain that from here forward by remembering what is important in your relationship and why you are making this commitment to one another today. Do you Harrison James Potter-Black take Amelia Bones to be your magically wedded wife. Do you vow to take care of her, to stand up for her, to support her through life's tough moments, to grow old with her, and to love her absolutely — for the rest of this lifetime and for whatever may come next?" Harry nodded enthusiastically.
"This I vow so mote it be," he said as he squeezed Amelia's hand gently.

Do you vow to take care of him, to stand up for him, to support him through life's tough moments, to grow old with him, and to love him absolutely — for the rest of this lifetime and for whatever may come next?"
"This I vow so mote it be." Said Amelia as she smiled at Harry.
"Please raise your hands up," said Albus as he took out his wand. He waved it over their joined hands and tendrils of different coloured lights surrounded their hands until eventually moving into their bodies and binding them together.
"I now pronounce you Lord and Lady Potter-Black-Bones. You may kiss the bride, Harry," said Dumbledore. Harry wasted no time and leaned in to kiss Amelia tenderly aware of the other people in the room. The five guests stood up and clapped politely joined by Albus, Minerva and Hermione. When the kiss ended, they left the great hall hand in hand and headed back to Harry's quarters. Minerva already agreeing to get the remaining students to their dorms.

Harry and Amelia floo'd to Potter Manor and as soon as they arrived Harry pulled Amelia in for a searing kiss.
"You really do look beautiful 'Melia." He said into her neck as he kissed along her jawline.
"Thank you Harry," she responded.
"Thank you for marrying me. I love you, Amelia." Said Harry as he pulled away from her so he could see her better. Amelia smiled brightly at him.
"I love you too."
"My patronus is a badger." said Harry. Amelia laughed deeply and kissed Harry fondly.
"Yes it is," she said.
"Why didn't you tell me?" he asked.
"I knew you needed to figure it out on your own," Amelia responded. Harry nodded
"Would you like to go the villa or stay here tonight?" asked Harry.
"Let's go to the villa. It's been too long since we've been there," replied Amelia. Harry nodded and gave Jekyll some last-minute instructions and then they apparated to the villa. When they got there Amelia took off her shoes and asked Harry to take a walk on the beach with her. Harry readily agreed and removed his shoes and then took of his dress robes so he was more comfortable in just his shirt and trousers.
They walked hand in hand along the beach until they found a secluded spot and sat down in the sand. They sat there for a while simply holding hands and enjoying the sound of the waves crashing on the shore until Amelia rose onto her knees and scooted close enough to press her lips to Harry's tenderly, sensually. Harry eased them both down into the sand as they gently kissed and caressed each other. Harry gently licked the outer edge of her lips to ask for entrance. Amelia's lips parted with a moan and his tongue circled hers eagerly. Amelia traced her fingers slowly along his sides, over his shoulders and down his chest. She reached under his shirt and lingered on chiselled abs for a moment before brushing across his erection and then cupping it firmly. Amelia slowly unbuttoned his shirt kissing each patch of newly exposed skin as she went. When she reached his pant line, she looked up at him with lust filled eyes.
"Shall we go back inside?" Asked Harry.
"No," said Amelia huskily. "It's dark and there is no one nearby to see us here, but just to make sure- " Amelia pulled her wand out of the bust of her dress and waved it in an arch around them. Then she leaned back down and claimed Harry's mouth with her own.
"I thought I'd lost you," she whispered into his mouth.
"I know," said Harry slightly ashamed and not sure what else to say to comfort her.
*** BEGINNING OF LEMON ***
"Make love to me Harry." Said Amelia seductively. "I need to know you're really still here. I need to feel you." Harry nodded his head eagerly and started to caress the bare skin under her dress while their tongues danced a familiar tango. Suddenly, he sat up to reach around and unzip her dress. When he had it undone, he helped her out of it, staring in awe for a moment at her matching white lace bra and panties and the way the moonlight shimmered over her pale skin. He unclasped her bra and tossed it aside. Harry moaned when he saw her skin pebble and her nipples harden from being free in the night air. He took one breast in his mouth and teased it with his tongue and teeth while roughly massaging the other one with his palm. He switched to give the other side the same treatment and then slowly kissed down the centre of her abdomen while he flipped her over, so she was lying on her back in the sand. He continued moving down her body and scraped his teeth over the thin material covering her clit before pulling back slightly to blow on it. This elicited a thrust of her hips as her thighs clamped around his head. He pulled back fully smirking at her moan of disapproval as he slowly slid her underwear off. His fingers easily slid into her core and Amelia threw her head back in pleasure, giving Harry the opportunity to latch onto her neck, licking and kissing at her soft skin as he pumped his fingers into her while gently circling her clit with his thumb. He found her pulse point and bit down hard enough to receive a throaty moan of satisfaction. Harry continued his ministrations until Amelia cried out his name in a husky whisper as her orgasm rippled through her.
Her grip went limp for a moment before her hands grabbed him and she rolled him onto his back and straddled him. She guided him into her opening and then lowered herself onto him, taking him inch by inch into her core. Harry grasped her thighs and tried to hold his hips still as she continued to take all of him. When he was buried deep inside her their eyes met and they could each see the love and passion they felt reflected in the other's eyes.
"I love you," whispered Harry. Amelia leaned down and kissed him passionately as she entwined their fingers. She sat up and began to raise and lower herself on his shaft. He thrust into her as she leaned on his strength to ride his body. The sight of her nude body shining in the reflected moonlight off the surface of the water combined with the feeling of her wet heat sliding over him meant that it didn't take long for the intensity between them to overwhelm him. He held her gaze as long as he could until his control was lost, and he slammed his eyes shut as the intense pleasure coursed through him. He pumped his seed into her just as her legs began to tremble in ecstasy at her own release. They were so wrapped up in each other that neither of them noticed the small sparks of their magic mingling and then settling in Amelia's belly.
