Guess who procrastinated until the last minute and had to write a whole chapter in just a few hours? That's right! It was me.
I found it really hard to come up with a way to continue the story after last chapter. I spend the whole week coming up with various ideas, but I quite like the concept I settled on. I don't have the time to write this thing again, so I'm committing to this. Hope you like it too!

Bad decisions
Oikawa Pov
'So you and the blonde are dating right? Why didn't you tell us?'
Ever since the fangirls calmed down a little, more and more guys had started to talk to me. On of them was this guy. I froze and looked at my classmate, who was staring at me expectantly.
'What makes you think that?' I asked innocently.
'Don't play dumb, the two of you are practically joined at the hip. Wherever you are, the blonde is not far behind and vice versa.'
'That doesn't mean anything though.'
'Wait. So she isn't your girlfriend?' The guy asked incredulously, 'That means I've got a chance.'
'You like her?'
He nodded enthusiastically with a small blush, 'I've talked to her a few times. Like, when we both had to take out the trash on the same day or when I helped her clean up after school. She's cheerful and funny, not to mention beautiful. Who wouldn't like her?'
That's right, who wouldn't? I didn't like this, not one bit. Right now, I was the only single guy who Suzumi talked to regularly. I'd like to keep it that way. Sure, I could compete with my classmate for her affection. But I didn't want to risk losing to him.
'Ah, sorry to get your hopes up man.' I said, the words flowing out of my mouth before I could reconsider, 'You were right, she's mine.'
If I ever apply to a job, I'll make sure to put 'makes irrational and stupid decisions' on it as one of my best qualities. Is it a helpful quality? Absolutely not.
News travels fast. Scarily fast. Thankfully, for me at least, Suzumi wasn't really involved in the rumor mill. This left me with just enough time to snatch her out of her classroom and discreetly steer her off schoolgrounds with the promise to buy her a drink at Starbooks. During that process I narrowly avoided both Iwa-chan and Chi-chan. I didn't know how much they knew and honestly, I didn't want to find out. While Iwa-chan was scary when mad, he didn't even hold a candle to the petite brunette when she found something she didn't like. And I am very sure that me lying to others and claiming her best friend for myself was something she definitely wouldn't like.
'Hey, Kawa?'
'Yeah?' I asked, loving that cute nickname the blonde had given me.
'Is it just me, or are there a lot of people staring at us?'
'I bet they're just admiring my beauty.' I said.
The girl snorted inelegantly, 'Yeah, sure. But seriously, there's a lot more staring than usual.'
I looked around and indeed, we were drawing a lot of attention, 'You're right.' I said, acting as if I had no idea why this was happening, 'Wonder what that's about.'
'Well, whatever. I'm sure we'll find out eventually.' I shrugged before subtly changing the subject, 'Let's go get that coffee, shall we?'
And so, we passed the entrance gate and made our way to Starbooks. While I wanted to relish in our time together, I couldn't. My mind scrambling for a way to solve the girlfriend issue. Of course, I could just tell the girl, but that would basically force me to confess. On the other hand, I could try to stop my lie from spreading and hope the buzz would dissipate. The chances of that happening though, were close to zero. Both Makki and Matssun were immersed in the gossip network, they'd find out in a heartbeat and come to question us about it. While Suzumi was just a little oblivious, she wasn't stupid. She'd catch on and find out about what I did, which in turn would just end up in me being forced to confess again.
I'd backed myself into a corner and that scared me. While I wanted to tell Suzumi my feelings eventually, I'd planned to do it when we were even closer, after she had shown signs of returning my feelings. Instead, I had placed myself in a position where I had no other choice than to reveal what I felt for the girl.
'-awa. Hey, earth to Oikawa!'
I shook of my depressing thoughts with a start and saw the object of my musings stare at me with a worried expression, 'You okay?' She asked, 'You're looking a bit pale.'
I plastered on a smile and formed an okay sign with my hand, 'Never been better, I was just zoning out. I can't wait to get some caffeine in my system.'
She observed me a little while longer before accepting my answer, 'I feel that, today felt like it went on for forever.'
'I know right? I can practically taste it already.' I said enthusiastically, before I noticed something strange. I stopped in my tracks, 'Hold on, where are we right now?'
I hereby vow, to never zone out again, while traveling with Suzumi Hiyori. I didn't think it was even possible to get this far from our intended destination within such a short period of time. Then again, I was partly to blame. I'd just been walking while being in my own little world and Suzumi, who was born without any sense of direction, had simply followed along. The blonde only uses one single route to get to school, so she figured we'd been exploring a new route to her house.
It wasn't like we were that lost, just in the complete opposite area we were supposed to be. By using a few conveniently placed signs, we'd found our way to Starbooks pretty easily.
Suzumi went for an espresso, guess she really was caffeine deprived. Contrary to her I don't really like bitter stuff, so I ordered a mocha, which is a lot sweeter. If the caffeine didn't kick in, the sugar rush was sure to hit me eventually. After we had gotten our drinks, we strolled to Suzumi's house, occasionally sipping our beverages.
Soon, we stood before the ever familiar front door of the Suzumi household.
'Wanna come in?'
'Yes please, we still need to discuss the matter of destroying the evidence, as you called it.' I said, making the air quotations at the destruction part.
She laughed and opened the door, 'Right, I did say that.'
'You forgot?' I asked as I took off my shoes and lined them up neatly against the wall.
'Look man, I don't remember every time I talk about eradicating something.' She replied casually and grabbed the pair of slippers I'd been using for the past few weeks.
I stepped into the white slippers, 'You scare me sometimes.'
It was still relatively early in the afternoon, so her parents weren't home yet. Deciding we'd been eating too many snacks and unhealthy drinks lately, we settled for two tall glasses of water and a bowl of baby carrots. Then we made the trip up the stairs and settled into our usual spot on the ground, against the bed.
As we were munching away on our healthy treats, Suzumi pulled up the navy notebook and slapped it on the table.
'This needs to go.' She said.
'Does it though? It's not like Iwa-chan or Chi-chan are going to actively search your room for it.' I replied, not really wanting to get rid of it. It was basically the only proof of this little secret we shared.
'No, they wouldn't. But I just don't want to risk it.'
'But what if we hid it really well? You know, find a good secret spot for it?' I argued, putting on my best pleading face.
'Why go through the trouble? You said it yourself, if either of our friends found it, we'd have ourselves a bad time.'
'Yeah, but don't you want to have it for later? Wouldn't it be fun to leaf through it and look back on the things we thought up?'
The blonde caught her chin between her thumb and index finger, a sign she was considering it. She nodded, 'I guess that would be pretty fun. Okay, you win.'
I threw my hands up in victory and quickly hugged the girl beside me, 'I knew you'd see things my way.' I said cheekily.
We spend a good hour considering our options and looking for a nice hiding place. We wanted to keep the notebook confined to Suzumi's room, to make the chances of her parents finding it as slim as possible.
In the end, Suzumi came up with an ingenious idea. Since the girl had in incredible amount of books in her room, the best hiding place would be on her strategically organized bookshelves. All we had to do was design a book cover.
So here we were trying to create a somewhat believable book cover in an application that was trying, and failing, to be Photoshop. As we scrolled through stock images, we chattered away about random topics until we reached the topic of our best friends.
'I'm kind of jealous of them, actually.' The blonde confessed.
I froze, no longer interested in the never ending page of images, 'How come?'
'They look so cute together. So obviously in love. I can't help wanting the same.'
'What's stopping you?'
'Well, I don't think I've ever really liked someone. I haven't had that feeling, you know? There hasn't been any guy, or girl for that matter, that has been able to make my heart pound.' She paused and leaned back against the bed, 'Then again, maybe I've been in love the whole time and just didn't notice. Maybe what I feel on a day to day basis is me, being in love. I just don't know.'
There's this little voice in my head, telling me what I'm about to do is a huge mistake. However, I've already screwed up royally today. What's another mistake? Overthinking and stupid decision-making is such an awful combination.
'Do you want to find out?' I asked. The pretty blonde looked at me questioningly, so I continued my explanation, 'I know way that is guaranteed to tell you if you're in love with someone. If you want I could show you.'
'Really?' She asked excitedly, 'Please do!'
I smiled at her and reached up my hand to cup her cheek. It felt like time came to a halt as I leaned over her, my other arm leaning on the bed for support. When I closed my eyes, all noise faded to the background. The only sound I could hear was the pounding of my heart and Suzumi's softly spoken 'oh' before I placed my lips on hers.
I've been in a cliffhanger mood lately. Do you guys hate me yet?
When I was brainstorming ideas for this chapter, I just remember thinking: 'This needs more drama.'
As per usual, a massive thank you my wonderful reviewers. Your comments make my day!
See you again next week!
