AN This chapter isn't in anyone's POV; I guess you would call it the third person pov, maybe. Anyway, it starts with a bit of backstory about the aether and Malekith in my story; some is happening while Loki was at Enid's, and it is violent; sorry if that bothers anyone.

Chapter 26: Attacked

Thousands of years ago, Bor, father to Odin, grandfather to Thor, fought with Malekith, his king of the Dokkalfar (Dark Elves), and his band of enhanced warriors known as the Kursed; Malekith set out to unleash the Aether, he wanted to use this weapon and bring darkness to all nine realms, throwing them into to chaos bringing forth endless wars. But Bor's forces were able to defeat the Dokkaifar, Malekith, and his enhanced warriors, with the help of the Ljosalfar (Light Elves) when their Queen Aurelia called on the Phoenix Force to take over her body to defeat them and get the Aether back by allowing it to use her body as a host, after the defeat of the Dokkaifar, the Phoenix left her body. The Queen agreed to keep the Aether safe, only to die months later due to not being strong enough to host it. The King gave the thing back to the Phoenix and vowed never to have anything to do with either again.

Malekith fled that day, along with his lieutenant Algrim and a couple of dozen Dokkaifar; who hasn't been since in centuries, thought dead, they lived in hiding; waiting for any sign of the Aether to appear, a few months ago Malekith felt it, then he sensed it, and he now was led to it. The Mutant prison, unknown to a specific inmate, the Aether was inside her, where the Phoenix had put it when dragging her through the tesseract. Reason Saphira had seemed more powerful to Loki, thankfully she was powerful enough to handle it even without access to her God abilities at the moment, being more powerful than her ancestor, being both Asgardain and Ljosalfar, two of the most powerful beings in the realms, not to mention being a goddess, which her ancestor was not.

The prison itself was outdated; the government didn't care for mutants who were law-bidding citizens, so they weren't going to care about the criminal ones they locked up; they didn't even give the prison a name. It was just the Mutant prison. It was built in the 1990s and never updated. It had no internet access, no cell towers, just electricity, water, and a landline phone that was out half of the time, old-fashioned walkie-talkies the guards used to keep in touch with one another, and old security cameras that show up fizzy on the old monitors. An old heating system that didn't even work, the only thing kept updated and working were the collars worn by the prisoners.

So as the prisoners slept in their cells snuggled in blankets, in their beds trying to keep warm in the cold prison, a storm was going on outside, rain pouring down, lightning and thunder; it was a chilly night. Though Island does not get snow, it can get cold and rainy, and the storm tonight was the result of a cold front moving in; the weak tiny windows shook as the wind blew and howled.

A cold front wasn't the only thing moving in; outside the prison walls, a space ship appeared out of nowhere and headed toward the prison; behind it, four more appeared, flying fast towards the prison, then suddenly they started firing, hitting the large brick wall that surrounded the building, the wall blew up, with a bang loud enough to be heard across the ocean to New York, concert and rumble flying everywhere, those asleep in prison woke with a start, more shots fired from the weird-looking ships passing all around it. Parts of the jail broke off; cracks went up walls, and the floors shook as the power went door and cell doors unlocked with a click.

Soon screams were coming from the prison, loud noises and bangs, gunshots from the guards, prisoners ran from their cells in hopes of finding safety somewhere. Outside some ships stopped and landed, Dokkaifar walking out and into the prison, being lead by Malekith, Algrim at his side. Saphira and Mystique both woke at the sounds and jumped out of bed, confused.

"Is the prison being attacked?" Saphira demanded. Mystique went to answer, but someone still firing at the building outside struck it and caused a crack to form up the wall; under the tiny window, the building shook and knocked down Saphira as parts of the ceiling caved in on her.

"Saphira." Mystique said, going to her side and tossing the rumble aside.

"Thanks, " Saphira said, as Mystique helped her to her feet, "I hope it's not the ones Loki was worried about."

"Whoever it is, we have to get out of here before the building comes down on top of us." Mystique replied.

"How are we supposed to defend ourselves against whoever that is with these damn collars around our necks?" Saphira demanded as lighting flashed by the window.

"You can still fight with your hands, can't you?" Mystique demanded. "I've seen you do it."

"Yes, I had training on Asgard, plus Loki taught me a few things." Saphira answered, "But, I'm not sure how good we'll be against them, whoever they are."

"We don't have to be good; we have to get past them and run away." Mystique answered; she knocked over the table and broke off a table leg, and tossed it to Saphira, then broke off one for herself. "Not much for a weapon, but it'll do."

Saphira and Mystique walked towards the door, their weapons at the ready, when it suddenly burst open, causing Mystique to shove Saphira behind her as she held up the table leg in defense. Saphira scowled.

"I can protect myself," Saphira grumbled.

"Hush!" Mystique snapped back, her eyes on the two at the door; one was a guy with long white hair, pointy ears, and purplish-blue skin. Next to him was a much larger guy or monster that looked to be made out of tree bark and had spikes all over him, with two next to his mouth.

"Whoever you are, you have ten seconds to leave." Mystique said, raising her weapon. "Or I will kill you."

"You do not scare me; I am Malekith," Malekith told her. "And you are no use to me."

He turned to Algrim and motioned with his head, he walked forehead and Mystique swung the table leg, but Algrim grabbed it and jerked it out of Mystique's hand, then grabbed her by the collar and tossed her across the room where she hit the wall at the foot of her bed, crushed onto her desk then fell to the floor.

"Mystique." Saphira cried and tried to run to her, but Malekith stopped her, she stepped back and raised the table leg she had, but he just grabbed it out of her hands and tossed it across the room.

"You have something that belongs to me." He said, "Give it back."

"I have never met you in my life," Saphira said. He frowned. "How am I supposed to have something that belongs to you? And aren't you supposed to be dead anyway?"

Malekith didn't answer. Instead, he raised the back of his hand and rubbed her cheek; Saphira jerked away. "You have royal Ljosalfar blood in you. I can see it, such beautiful creatures, I would hate to have to kill you." He reached up to rub her cheek again, and Saphira smacked his hand away.

"Keep your hands off me," Saphira demanded. Malekith said nothing; he tilted his head to the side and looked her over, unnerving Saphira. He then straightened his head with a grin.

"I see now why you have it," Malekith told her. "It picked you; the Phoenix picked you." He laughed a little

"What the hell are you talking about?" Saphira demanded; there were still screams and sounds of fighting coming through the door, and the building shook, the other ships were still firing at it, the wall behind Saphira was crumbling more, dust and pieces of ceiling were falling.

Again Malekith said nothing. He just nodded to the Kurse elf; he stepped forward, grabbed Saphira by the neck, and lifted her in the air; Saphira gasped for air as she kicked her feet and clawed at his arms. The grip on her neck was causing the collar to break, and pieces were digging into her skin.

"She has it in her, Algrim, but this room is too small to get it out of her." Malekith told him, "I need her outside." Algrim gave the nod, as Saphira's struggling caused Algrim to drop her; she landed on the floor gasping in the air, Algrim then tried to pick her up, but Saphira fought back, kicking and hitting him and ducking out of his grasp.

After two minutes, Algrim had enough, grabbed Saphira by her curls, and swung her against the wall with such a force she went crashing through it and down to the ground below, where she landed in the mud, which softened the fall, but barely. Saphira groaned as pain shot through her body, and she rolled over on her side. The collar around her neck finish breaking, and she pulled it off and tossed it from her, and Saphira gasped as she felt a rush as her abilities and strength came rushing back to her.

"Why does everyone always throw me through walls?" Saphira asked no one; as she heard Algrim drop to the ground behind her, she looked up in time to see him bring his fist down at her, Saphira rolled out of the way, and Algrim's fist hit the ground hard enough to leave a dent.

"Didn't your mother ever tell you, you not supposed to hit a lady?" Saphira demanded, then rolled out of the way of another hit. "Guess not."

When Algrim came back down with a hit a third time, Saphira used her ability to manipulate the gravity and send him flying into the air than out of sight. She got to her feet, stumbling a little, as her body was just getting used to having her abilities back.

Malekith made his way outside, walked up to her, and raised his arms; Saphira floated into the air, a few feet off the ground. Then red slug-like stuff started coming out of her and towards Malekith; Saphira's eyes widened; somehow, she suddenly knew what it was and why Malekith wanted it; Saphira held her hands out and started making it come back to her, as she used her ability to make the gravity bring her back on the ground.

"Give it to me," Malekith demanded as the aether left him. Since Saphira didn't want it back inside her and needed somewhere Malekith couldn't get it, she held out her hand calling something from her pocket dimension, anything that could house the aether, her Phoenix necklace appeared in her hand, and the aether went inside it, as Saphira's eyes glowed red for a moment, then made the chain disappear, sending it to the one place Malekith couldn't get it, Loki's pocket dimension.

"I will give you nothing," Saphira told him she made a giant fireball appear, but before she got to throw it at Malekith, Algrim was back and knocked her down; she was feeling a little worn, having just gotten her abilities back and no longer having the aether inside her, but she wasn't going to give in to their demands, no matter what they did to her. She still had a few people in the realms she cared about, and a real war would put them in danger.

Saphira was worried about how she was going to defeat Malekith and Algrim. The few elves that had followed them out here, along with the ones that stopping firing from their ships and was now joining Malekith, but didn't have to worry, as Mystique suddenly appeared, the collar on her neck was gone, broken when Algrim used it to throw her, and she was looking pissed as she was leading a group of both prisoners and guards, who started taking out Makelith's elf warriors, Mystique headed towards them though, killing any dokkalifar that tried to stop her like it was nothing. She pointed a dagger at Algrim, no fear at all on her face.

"You dare put your filthy hands on me, you monster." Mystique said. "You will regret that."

"Get rid of her," Malekith told him. Then turned back to Saphira, "Give the aether back to me."

"No, I think it's better where it is." Saphira said, getting to her feet, "That way, you can't get it."

Malekith let out an angry cry and ran towards her, but Saphira ducked out of reach, then got into a fighting pose. Malekith just grinned and pulled out his sword.
"You can not beat me." Malekith told her, "So, give the aether back, and you live."

"How about you give up, and you live," Saphira replied.

"I will kill you then," Malekith said, holding up his sword, Saphira smirked and held out her hand, and a sword appeared; it felt odd in her hand; this sword had been the only gift her father ever put thought into given her, having it especially made just for her, a silver sword, with sapphire and amethyst incrested handle, shape like a Peacock feather, created by light elves, she hadn't held it since she left Asgard, and wondered briefly if she still remembered how to use it.

"You can try." Saphira told him, "But it won't do you any good."

Malekith came at her with his sword Saphira brought up hers, blocking his, they hit together with a clung, she then brought her sword towards Malekith's right side, and when he went to stop it, she switched sides real fast and got him on the left side, Malekith stumbled back, then came at Saphira, who secured the blow, and on and on it went, both skilled warriors, trying to get the better of the other, but unfortunately, her body not being used to having her power back, along with the pain and injuries from crashing through a wall was catching up with her. Saphira began to tire after a while, and Malekith was able to knock her sword out of her hand then knock her down. But she immediately got back up, thunder roared, lightning flashed, and rain poured down, as sounds of battle were all around them, but Saphira ignored it.

"Guess I'll just kill you and take the aether from your corpse," Malekith said; He came at her, but Saphira dodged out of the way and grabbed her sword off the ground.

"You can not sense it anymore, can you?" Saphira taunted, "That's because it is hidden, only one other can get it now, and he is not you."

Malekith said nothing as he shoved forward with his strength, knocking Saphira back; she dropped her sword and fell on her bottom; Saphira moved as Malekith came down with his sword, then touched the ground vines shot out wrapping around Malekith. Big giant spiky thrones from the vines, stabbing him and digging into his skin.

"Finish her!" Malekith yelled, trying to break free of the vines.

Saphira looked up to see Algrim charging at her, she sent a fireball at him, but it did nothing, so she backed up, only to be grabbed by the throat and lifted in the air again. Saphira gasped, trying to breathe; she was sure she was either about to die or pass out, but just as her eyes were closing and she was losing her grip on Algrim's arms, Mystique suddenly came out of nowhere and spun around with a kick, making Algrim stumble back. He dropped Saphira, who fell to the ground gasping as the air rushed back to her lungs.

Mystique was using some martial arts on Algrim, kicks, and hits; Saphira had seen her do it before, but what Saphira hadn't seen her do before was what she was doing now. She held out both her arms and, to Saphira's amazement, daggers suddenly popped up out of Mystique's arms.

She came forward and drove one dagger into the right side of Algrim's neck, then as she was about to go the other into the other side, Algrim backhanded Mystique, sending her flying into a wall; she hit it, then fall to the ground and barely moved, Algrim went walking towards her. "Mystique!" Saphira cried, worried for her friend, "You asshole! Leave her alone!"

Saphira got to her feet, wanting to help Mystique, but Malekith had gotten free from his bindings and stepped forward. Before she knew it, his sword drove into her stomach, about seven inches to the right from her navel; Saphira looked down in surprise.

"That can't be good," Saphira mumbled. She looked back up at Malekith and glared. Malekith grabbed Saphira's hair and jerked her head back as he kept a grip on his sword handle; pain shot through her. "Yep, definitely not good."

"Lucky for you, my sword isn't in you very far, so you have time to give me the aether before I do worse damage," Malekith growled.

"Go ahead, you don't scare me," Saphira told him, then bit her lip to stop from crying out as Malekith pushed his sword deeper.

"I do not play; give it to me now," Malekith demanded.

"No," Saphira replied, barely getting the word out; she was in so much pain. She thought she was close to blacking out.

But then Malekith jerked the sword out and let go of her hair, and she fell to her knees, holding on to her side; blood was already pouring out as Saphira fell over onto her back, the world was spinning, and Saphira was pretty sure she might be going into shock as she watched the lightning light up the sky, unable to think popularly or move.

Malekith stood over Saphira, pointing his sword down at her. "Give me the aether, or I kill you," Malekith demanded.

Saphira was in a lot of pain, bleeding out, she was dizzy, but despite all that, she still had her strong well and stubbornness and wasn't going to give in to him.

"Go to hell, you worthless creature," Saphira told him, then cried out as Malekith slowly drove the sword into her wound, making sure it went through the exact gash his sword had given her; tears fall out of Saphira's eyes as the pain was becoming unbearable.

"Give me the aether, or I kill you," Malekith repeated. Saphira glared up at him.

"You kill me. You'll never find it," Saphira warned; Malekith growled, then pushed down on the handle, driving the sword father.

"Give it now!" Malekith shouted.

"Fuck off," Saphira shouted back; Malekith growled in anger, then pushed down hard on the sword, and Saphira screamed as she felt it rip through her back and pin her to the ground.

"Your last warning," Malekith warned. "Aether or die."
"You are not getting it." Saphira groaned; Malekith growled again in anger and pulled the sword out of her, causing Saphira more pain, and raised it above his head.

"So, be it," Malekith said, he brought it down. Still, Saphira was able to roll out of the way this time, Malekith's sword stabbed the ground; instead, right in a small puddle of Saphira's blood, she knew she was bleeding way too much, even for a goddess, blood was pouring out of her front, and back, rest of her body was in pain. Still, as Malekith came towards her, Saphira was able to stand, if only for a moment, as she stumbled and back down on her knees, then on to her side.

Saphira felt like she might pass out or something, and as Malekith stood over her with his sword, Saphira's eyes widened in fear; she was in a lot of pain, Saphira doubted she could fight him any more, especially while bleeding all over the place, her strength just wasn't there, too weak to get her abilities to work, or fight back, Saphira briefly wished she had kept the aether in her.

"No, please," Saphira begged; Malekith ignored her, grabbed her hair, and pulled it, tossing her onto her back.

"Aether or death?" Malekith said, and Saphira did the most disrespectful things someone could do to someone, and that was spit in Malekith's face. He growled in angry, raised his sword, and brought it over his head; Saphira moaned, in both pain and fear, this was it, she was going to die, lying in the mud, covered in her blood, during Thor's favorite weather conditions. Saphira briefly thought about giving him the aether, but he would kill her anyway, might as well die saving the world from endless darkness and war, then die a coward giving into this monster. Besides, there was no way in hell she was giving into someone that attacked her; she was too damn stubborn.

"Just kill me already." Saphira gasped out.

Malekith brought his sword down towards her, but it never made contact; as lightning lit up the sky, Saphira heard a shout of anger, then a green blur jumped over her and tackled Malekith away from her and to the ground, the green blur got back to his feet, two daggers appear in his hands as he stood in front of her, Saphira rolled on to her side and raised a little to look.

"Loki," Saphira whispered in surprise, he looked back at her with a gentle concern look, then turned back to Malekith, and that concern turned to pure rage.

"You are...DEAD!" What started in a slow, quiet voice ended with a yell of angry, as Loki ran towards Malekith, who ran towards Loki, raising his sword, Loki was able to block it with his dagger, ducked around the side of Malekith, slicing him in the side with one of the daggers, Malekith turned around and knocked the daggers out of Loki's hands, then came at him with his sword, Loki ducked and rolled out of the way, then picked up Saphira's dropped sword from the ground. As Malekith came at him, Loki brought it up to block the blow, then did a turn, knocking Malekith's sword out of his hand. Malekith stumbled back.

But as Loki spun around to give Malekith the final blow, Algrim came out of nowhere, hitting Loki, sending him flying; when he landed on the ground, he jumped back up, only to be hit once again by Algrim.

"No, leave him alone." Saphira cried, feeling helpless as she tried to get up but was unable to.

Saphira's yell seemed to help Loki, though, as he was able to avoid a second hit, then send magic at Algrim, causing him to fly back. As he got back to his feet, Loki tossed a dagger at him; he stumbled but kept coming, so Loki tossed another, and another; soon Algrim was covered in blades sticking out of his body, but it barely affected him, and Loki started throwing more magic blasts at him; it slowed him down but did not stop him. By now, Malekith had recovered and went after Loki; they both stood on either side of Loki, who showed no fear, as he held a dagger in one hand and held up his other with green magic coming out of it.

"Loki!" Saphira cried hopelessly as the two started fighting Loki together; at first, he was doing fine, he tossed the magic in Algrim face, then sliced Malekith with the dagger, but then Algrim knocked Loki down, making him drop his sword.

Saphira tried to stand, wanting to help, but with every movement, more blood poured out of her wounds; she was surprised she had any blood left in her. Saphira cried as Loki was losing to them both, and there was nothing she could; she didn't care about herself; Saphira would gladly die to help Loki but couldn't move; the pain was too much, and her body wouldn't do what she wanted.

Saphira felt relief when Mystique suddenly appeared next to Loki; she knocked Malekith away with a kick, allowing Loki to get to his feet, then he looked at her in surprise as she shifted into Algrim's form and started fighting him; Loki got over his shock when Malekith came at him with his sword, Loki stopped it, then somehow got his sword from him, tossed aside, then grabbed Malekith's hair and turned him around where his back was to Loki's chest, then pulled him to him.

"I am Loki as Asgard, and the reason I kill you is that the lady you attacked is my wife; your death will let all know; you do not hurt her and except to live," Loki told him, then made a dagger appear and sliced Malkeith across the throat, then let go of him and his body now dead, fell to the ground.

Loki gave him no other thought as he walked towards Saphira, his rage gone from his face as his eyes looked her over, then widened at her blood-soaked shirt. He began to hurry to get to her, but Saphira shook her head and pointed over to where Mystique was fighting Algrim, wanting him to help her. He had her on the ground beating her up; she could tell which was because Algrim still had a few of Loki's daggers sticking in him.

Loki picked up Saphira's sword and walked up behind Algrim and stabbed him through the back; Algrim paused in hitting Mystique and turned to Loki, but before he could do anything to him, Mystique turned back to herself, pulled two of Loki's daggers out of Algrim, stuck them both in the back of Algrim's neck, she pulled them forward as she brought her foot up pushing Algrim backward, and sliced his head right off, Algrim's body fell to the ground, his head stuck to the daggers, Mystique just tossed them down as if they were nothing.

"Told you, you would pay for putting your hands on me." Mystique said; she looked frightening standing there, pouring down rain, a pissed-off look on her face.

Loki glanced at Mystique curiously; as she was now staring at him like she couldn't believe her eyes, he ignored her and turned toward Saphira to see she was now lying on the ground on her back.

"Saphira, " Loki cried, running to her; he dropped to his knees next to her and pulled her into his arms.

"I'm alive." Saphira tried to assure him.

"What did that bastard do to you?" Loki demanded, looking over her.

"Stabbed her." Mystique said, kneeling on Saphira's other side, "I kept trying to get to her, but that damn monster kept fighting me, and I couldn't, then next thing I know, I am out cold."

"Stabbed her? With his sword?" Loki demanded; Mystique nodded her head and raised Saphira's shirt to check out her wound; lightning lit up the sky at that time, showing just how bad it was.

"No.. ." Loki started to panic. Saphira had a big gash going up her stomach, the same with her back, but not bad. Loki held her close and looked around. The other inmates and guards had taken out the rest of the dark elves; now they were all running around panicked, trying to get phones to work to call out to the mainland for help; some guards were trying to round up the inmates.

"Don't squeeze me, please, baby," Saphira asked; Loki turned back to her in surprise. He hadn't realized he was holding her so tightly.

"Damn, that is bad." Mystique said, tearing off the bottom of her shirt and holding it to Saphira's wound.

"It feels like I've been sliced in two," Saphira said.

"How are you even still conscious," Mystique mumbled.

"I don't know, but it hurts like hell, and I am pretty sure I am bleeding to death," Saphira said.

"No, you are not." Mystique snapped, "I haven't protected you and kept the other inmates away from you for months for nothing; you are not dying on me."

"You protected her?" Loki asked. Mystique nodded and reached out and laid a hand on his shoulder.

"We need to get out of here before someone sees you." Mystique said. He looked at her with a frown.

"Who are you?" Loki demanded; for some reason, Mystique winched at the question before dropping her hand from his shoulder.

"A...friend, people call me Mystique." Mystique answered, "And we need to get your wife some medical attention."

Loki looked down at Saphira; she wasn't talking anymore, had closed her eyes, gone extremely pale, and was unmoving; Loki cried and hugged Saphira to him. Mystique stood up and walked over to Loki and put her arm around him, hugging him almost a motherly way.

"Saphira is alive but won't be for long if we don't find her help, come on, son, you need to pull yourself together long enough to do that for her." Loki looked at her, then took a deep breath and looked back down at Saphira. "We need to find a way to stop the bleeding." Loki nodded then spoke to Saphira.

"Darling, I am so sorry for this, but it's all I can think of." Loki looked back up at Mystique. "Would you hold her shirt up?"

She walked back around Saphira and did what Loki asked; he held his hand over her wound and covered it in ice, stopping the bleeding and freezing it; he then turned her a little and did the same to her back. Saphira's started shivering and pushing away from Loki, moaning something about the cold. Loki felt terrible for her, but he wasn't going to allow her to bleed to death; she soon stopped trying to pull away, as he hugged her to him and whispered soothing words in her ear, then looked up at Mystique.

"Now, what do we do?" Loki demanded.

"We take her someone safe, then borrow a doctor from a hospital to fix her," Mystique told him. Loki picked Saphira up as he stood.

"Enid, " Loki replied, "She's not a doctor or healer but knows some healing magic; I must get Saphira to her sister."

"Am I guessing you have some teleoperation ability since you appeared here out of nowhere?" Mystique demanded. " If so, now might be the time to get us to Enid's or somewhere."

Mystique nodded her head to the side; Loki looked to see guards running their way; he told Mystique to grab hold of his arm, and then Loki disappeared, taking Saphira and Mystique with him.

AN I personally like Thor The Dark Word, but I know a lot of people don't, so I didn't want to stay on that very long, skim through it, so it leads to other things; in a few chapters, it'll start changing from MCU plot, though still have some stuff, not sure if I am going to do the snap yet or not.

Mystique has always been one of my favorites from Marvel, so when deciding to put her in the story, I started reading up about her, her abilities, and stuff to see if there was anything I didn't know and might want to use. According to the wiki, it is believed to make weapons from her body; I thought that sounded cool, so I used it.

The name Algrim came from Wikipedia too, a sound that's what the krused elf name was, I used it instead of calling him Kruse, mainly because my spell check kept wanting to change the spelling, Malekith's looks comes from the comics, and Algrim/Kruse comes from the movie, and added the darkness throwing them into war and chaos to make it seem a lot worse for him to get the aether.
