Gio (sees that Nani is still awake): Hey, Nani! Guess what?!
Nani: Shh! Not so loud...I heard the ship. I bet you had fun, huh?
Gio: You...heard that?
Nani: (Shrugs with a smile) The ship is not that loud per sec, but I can hear and feel the thrumming growl of those engines.
Gio: Oh, okay. (sighs) Glad no one woke up to it!
Nani: (Chuckles) Yeah. (Yawns tiredly) Sorry, Gio, but I gotta go sleep. You go have some good dreams tonight, okay? I'll see you in the morning. (Squeezes Gio's shoulder warmly before turning around to enter her bedroom)
Gio (enters bedroom): I think I should give mom and dad a call...(gets out phone and calls Angela)
Angela: Gio! I know it's only been five days, but it feels like forever! Please tell me that you're doing good.
Gio: Yes, I'm doing SO GREAT here in Hawaii!
Angela: That's marvelous news, son. How is Nani and Lilo?
Gio: Oh, Nani is GREAT as a caregiver, and Lilo? Oh, she's so adorable!
Angela: (Sighs in relief over the phone) That makes me feel better...They had been having such a hard time since...you know...
Gio: Yeah, mom, I know. But...so far, I've been doing A LOT to win them over!
Angela: Oh, Gio, you don't have to try so hard. Just be yourself, darling. (Sighs) It's too bad that the fire destroyed the first house. There was a album that had some pictures of you as a young child, playing with Nani and holding Lilo...
Gio: Did...any of the album survive the fire?
Angela: Afraid not. The album was in the living room where part of the fire originated from...It might be possible the book itself would have survived, very possibly burned, but the photos were way more fragile...becoming ashes so quickly in that fire...
Gio (sniffs): No...no!
Angela: Your aunt, my sister, Marina tried to send copies to me, but the package somehow got lost during transition at the first mainland US mail station...She was devastated about it as it was supposed to be one of your 5th birthday gifts as you often talked about Nani and Lilo during the school year.
Gio: Hmmm...I'll see what I can do about it.
Angela: What do you mean? It's lost! I tried to talk to several US mail places over the years to see if they had found it, but no luck. It's reasonably likely for it to be in a warehouse or something... It's bound to be like a needle in a haystack!
It's mostly plain, the package on the outside, I mean. The only thing unique was a second stamp next to the US stamp. It was resembling a baseball card with the famous words, 'Take Me Out To The Ball Game'. You were having quite a baseball phase at the time, being four years, turning five.
Gio: Oh, I'm sure I'll think of something, mom!
Angela: (Chuckles) No wonder why I have raised you. You're such a great son. Oh, dear, I have to go to work soon. Today is rehearsal. And you better get some sleep, young man.
Gio: Alright...good night, mom!
Angela: Good night, Gio. (Sound of phone clicking off)
Gio (sighs and plugs in phone): What a day...(yawns and gets into bed)
(The house goes into darkness as the night welcomes the stars, the wind currents, the nocturnal animals, and so, another summer night goes, a new summer day approaches.)
(At that point, as the next scene showed Gio waking up and making everyone a large breakfast of chocolate chip pancakes and bacon, some uplifting music began to play in the background, starting a montage of Gio's summer vacation in Hawaii...)
Gio (voiceover narration): So, there it began...my vacation in Kauai, Hawaii. In only 5 days, I helped Lilo out by stopping her bullying issue, helped capture an alien, stopped an evil villain 3 times in a row, tried to kill an alien, and of course, helped rehabilitate an alien! Needless to say, I was proud of myself, and now, the rest of my summer could really begin...
Gio (flipping pancakes): Wake up time! (pulls out air horn and blows it)
Nani: (Shouts) Coming!
Lilo:(Yells) Stitch! He's ready with breakfast! Let's go!
Pleakley: (Screams) Don't scare me like that, Jumba!
Jumba: (Shouts) We being up! We coming!
Gio (laughs): What a bunch of sleepyheads!
Stitch: (Exclamation) Meega smelling chocolate!
Lilo: Chocolate?! Is it pancakes with chocolate chips?! (Voice echoes through elevator)
Stitch: Ih!
Jumba: Bigger boy has high level of cooking. I liking it!
Pleakley: No offense, Nani, but I think Gio is beating you with his kitchen skills.
Nani: I am not stopping him from enjoying his passion. Cooking makes him happy.
(The scene then showed an alien experiment named Nosy sneaking into the house before showing Gio taking a shower in the men's bathroom while home alone. Just like in "Home Alone 2", he was singing a song while taking said shower, not noticing Nosy enter the bathroom while holding a video camera...)
Gio (voiceover): Now, when capturing aliens, sometimes I found the pods and activated them myself. Other times...it was a surprise...
Gio (in the shower; singing): We know a cat who can really do the Cool Jerk!
We know a cat who can really do the Cool Jerk!
Well, this cat they talkin' about, I wonder who could it be?
Cause I know I'm the happiest cat, the happiest cat you ever did see!
When they see me walkin' down the street
When the fellas want to speak
On their faces they wear a silly smirk
Cause they know I'm the king of a Cool Jerk!
Nosy: (Snickers to himself) Not a bad singing voice.
Gio (stops): Who said that?!
Nosy: (Widens eyes and gulps, staying quiet)
Gio (opens curtain): HEY! Get out of here, you nosy little pervert, or I'm going to slap you silly!
Nosy: Sorry! But not sorry either! I am so going to keep this! Probably save it for your mom! (Laughs slyly)
Gio (puts on robe and jumps out): NOT IF I KILL YA FIRST! (lunges at him)
Nosy: (Screams and runs out of bathroom) You sing good anyway! Ever think about doing karaoke night?
(The scene cuts to show that Nosy was all tied up to a chair inside the living room all while Gio deleted the footage off from the video camera before it was sent out to anyone...)
Gio (voiceover): Needless to say, I got very good at capturing these experiments, and with good time, efficiency as well!
Gio: Well, I'm going to sit right here and watch you until my cousin, Lilo gets back.
Nosy: Fair enough. I hear the town has Wednesday Karoke nights. You can give it a shot given the fact that you sing actually good.
Gio: Hey, no! I don't feel comfortable singing to the public! (Tapes his mouth shut)
Nosy: (Takes resigned look, recognizing that Gio's serious.)
(The montage then cuts to show Gio flipping burgers with Frenchfry on a grill during a 4th of July barbecue in the backyard, with many of Lilo and Nani's friends and neighbors attending...)
Gio (voiceover): And on the 4th of July, I worked with Frenchfry to provide a large feast for Lilo, her family, and all of the neighbors and friends of Kauai, Hawaii.
Gio: Burgers are almost ready, everyone!
Lilo: Awesome! (Playing with the girls; Myrtle, Elena, Teresa, Yuki) Hear that? I got dibs on a cheeseburger!
Myrtle: Cool. I'm going for a BLT!
Nani: (Calls out to Gio) Are the beans ready to go too?
Gio (points to Slick stirring a huge stock pot on a portable burner): They're on the way! The baked beans are smelling sweet and smoky!
Nani: Great! Thanks, Gio! (Turns to talk some more with David who's amused yet enjoying the music thanks to Sample and his band)
Stitch: (Walks over to Gio, whispering lowly as he hid behind the grill box) Fireworks ready to launch in hour.
Gio: Stitch, why are you hiding?
Stitch: (Gives him a look, snorts lightly with a gesture at the locals, putting a claw to his mouth to indicate that his talking is secret.)
Gio (nods): Oh...
Stitch: (Draws a picture of rocket and barks with a questioning look)
Gio: A rocket?
Stitch: (Sighs, and glances around to check that others are far off, unable to hear whispers) Fireworks.
(The scene then transitioned to nighttime, where a large fireworks display was going off in the sky...)
Gio: Whoa...
Lilo: Ooh! Ahh! (Exclaiming every time there's a explosion)
Jumba: Not bad if I saying myself. Nice job buying those, Gio.
Pleakley: Indeed. Those fireworks are quite a bit more dramatic than last year's.
Gio: Oh, it was nothing. I...
Jumba: Bigger boy, you not having to be humble. Why, you having natural eye for color.
Pleakley: Jumba, are you rubbing off me? Did I hear you right?
Jumba: This being only time I saying something about going for colors to compliment holiday today. No putting it over me, noodle-head.
Pleakey: (Grins) Alright, alright, I hear you, Jumba. But Gio, he's right. You really went for it. Who knew purple would go with red and white while green goes with blue?
Gio: Well, I know a lot about putting art in the sky.
Pleakley: Because of your parents? You said that your mom works for Broadway.
Gio: Yeah, but she doesn't launch fireworks!
Pleakley: That's true. She directs the people on stage or something?
Gio: Yes.
Pleakley: Any chance you could ask her to send a Broadway video or something? I heard things about Lion King, etc. It'd be amazing to see it without need to buy a ticket or such.
Gio: I can't do that...It's not really LEGAL to send people free pre-shot recordings.
Pleakley: Oh, you're right. I do not want to cause your mother to lose her job as it is clear that she loves it.
(The montage continues to show the entire Pleakai family setting up a picnic in a local park...)
Gio (voiceover): We had plenty of family-only events happen too, such as picnics...
Stitch: Meega love watermelon! (Licks lips and spits out another seed)
Lilo: Yeah, watermelon's awesome in summertime. But you can't beat a PB & J either.
Gio (opens basket): PB & J is fine for you both...but for me? (pulls out a large sub sandwich for himself) I prefer ham, turkey, salami, pepperoni, bacon, chicken, swiss and american cheese, mayo, and honey mustard for me!
Stitch: Whoa, jumbo sandwich! Cousin would be jealous.
Nani: You sure you don't want to be a chef or café cook, Gio? You have been spoiling us with homemade meals. (Smiles)
Pleakley: She has a point there.
Gio: Are you trying to pressure me, Nani?
Nani: No, no. I was just wondering, that's all, and besides, is it bad for me to imagine, anyway?
Gio: Well...I have been teased and bullied so many times in the past, that it's not hard for me to tell which of what is just a joke or a bullying tease.
Nani: Oh, Gio...You as a chef that I am imagining, it isn't a joke or tease. It was...a offhand comment. It's like.. a daydream fling. After all, people have daydreams of several things they, their friends, spouses could, and can be.
Pleakley: Oh, I get it now! Gio, I sometimes daydream of you cooking in Hell's Kitchen or America's Test Kitchen when I watch a episode.
Gio: Well...I could NEVER handle that pressure.
Lilo: Never, ever?
Gio: Nope.
Jumba: I no blaming you there, bigger boy. In hall of room, there being many doors, but you open door yourself, and find job you want.
Gio: Oh, I just remembered! (Pulls out a chocolate cream pie) Don't forget dessert!
Lilo: Yes! Way to go, Gio! (Licks lips in anticipation)
Stitch: Yummy! Picnic not same without dessert! (Grabs paper plates out of picnic box while Gio cuts and forks under slices)
Nani: Can't wait to taste it!
Gio (voiceover): The stuff we discussed as a family ranged from friendly chats about recipes, to serious chats about handling situations...
(The scene then transitioned to another morning while Gio was home, and while he was using his laptop in his bedroom, 625 climbed into the house via open window to steal sandwich ingredients...)
625: Let's see here. There must be some ham in that refrigerator, and I bet there's plenty of mayo too. Luckily, I got bread and cheese back at the ship. Oh, I forget about sliced lettuce! Maybe there's a salad I could nab... (Walks to refrigerator, opening it up)
Gio (walks in and sees him): AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!
625: Oh, rats! I knew this house was too quiet! Hello, Gio...Heh...How are you doing with your vacation, kiddo?
Gio (grabs him): Well, time to die! (Ties him up with rope)
625: Whoa, whoa. Did you forget about my cousin, Stitch telling you after that...train fiasco? I am harmless! I just wanted some stuff for my sandwiches today, please!
Gio (Places him in pot): You broke in!
625: (Groans) Okay, I did! And are you supposed to loosen up by now? Having Lilo as your cousin, some of her kindness must be rubbing off her into you for weeks already. She knows that I am a sandwich lover and I actually don't hate her or the cousins. I don't hate you either.
Gio(duct tapes his mouth shut): Shut up! You broke into my house to attack me!
Stitch: (Seconds in, he runs into the kitchen) Gio, he speaking truth! Meega knowing 625 for past two years. He sometimes ask meega for sandwich stuff when others asleep.
Other cousins tell me that 625 laugh and tease lunkhead Gantu, and he's neutral, in grey zone. He not like seeing cousins injured or Lilo hurt.
Gio: Stitch, stay out of this!
Stitch: (Glares at him) You acting like bully, no, monster, Gio! You're scaring meega and 625! (625 nods with a muffled affirmation) He not attacking you. Meega would know if there be blood or bone hurt, but meega smell nothing of that! Meega know you have bad school past, but it not meaning you should do same. You putting yourself to bully's level, bully who hurt you in past!
Gio: I...I...I...
Stitch: (Moves to remove tape from 625's mouth as Gio was too stupefied to move a muscle) You okay, cousin?
625: Yeah, I'm alright, Stitch. Thanks.
Stitch: (Smiles and goes to claw-cut the ropes off 625) There you go, cousin.
625: Ah, that's way better! (Looks at Gio who seems stuck in a flashback or something as he climbs out of pot) I think you broke him, Stitch. Do you think he's gonna be fine?
Stitch: Meega no know, but you're right, cousin. Gio be remembering this incident well enough as he often bitter when talking about past.
Gio: Oh...Stitch, I...
Stitch: (Perks ears up, and looks at Gio) Ih? Are youga okay?
Gio: I...I...(sighs) I don't know what went through me...I just tried to commit a horrible deed...(looks down)
625: (Leans and whispers) I think this isn't a good time for me to be around. I will just check out Subway's.
Stitch: (Nods) Use the dog door this time, cousin.
625: (Hums) Aloha, cousin. Good luck, Gio, and hey, don't beat yourself. (Gives a reassuring smile and then walks to the front door with the doggie door, exiting with a flair)
Stitch: (Sighs, looking at Gio) Cousin's right. You stopped yourself.
Gio: He broke into our house! I...had to take action, Stitch!
Stitch: By threatening to kill him? Gio, the window in here kitchen was open, no actual breaking. He thought house was empty.
Gio: He can't just enter without permission!
Stitch: That true for anybody, but he cousin, and cousin is ohana.
Gio: I disagree!
Stitch: (Gives him a look) Jumba created him before me, and in turn, he created me. Cousin is ohana! Now you think lots earlier. You won't be bully no more?
Gio: As long as he knocks on the door before he comes in.
Stitch: Meega will tell him when he in town another time. Right now, you wanna watch movie or something? You look tired from thinking much about past.
Gio: Yes...I would. What would you like me to go and rent?
Stitch: Meega can pick?
Gio: As long as it's not an adult film.
Stitch: (Smiles brightly) National Treasure!
Gio (nods): I'll be right back! (leaves the house)
(The montage continues by showing Gio, Nani, and Lilo at the beach...)
Gio (voiceover): Beach trips were common on weekends for us, and with this part of my family, it was so much fun!
Nani: Hey, Gio! Ready to watch me ride the sea with style?
Lilo: Ooh, show him the triple-loop when you get to the top!
Nani: (Grins) Oh, yeah, that's a good one!
Gio: Whoa...(sets up towel) Hold your horses! I'm STILL trying to set up here!
Lilo: (Giggles) You're acting like a tourist, Gio! Relax!
Gio: Well, excuse me! I just want to set up first, Lilo.
Lilo: Okay. (Adjusts camera, glad that it's waterproof)
Nani: I will be waiting in the tide, and I will go up at your call, okay? (Heads to go walk across beach, putting surfboard down in tide, resting down with her legs in the water, stroking a bit before stopping and waiting with eyes glancing back to beach)
