The world is coming to an end. That's all she could think of; that's the only reason everything crazy is happening right now. Emma has been only home for a month and the shit show has begun. It leaves Regina stuck in her head often to the point where she looks completely out of it. Right now she's taking her daily nap while Emma and Ariana are doing their own little thing.
"My Little Pony comes on mommy," Ariana informs as she climbs onto Emma's lap. She casually takes the remote and changes the channel like the little genius she is.
Emma can't help but chuckle and hold her daughter close, still, she's putting her foot down in this situation. Emma does the same as Ariana previously did and changes the channel back to the movie she had been watching before. Ghost busters is her favorite classic and she never misses it when it airs on tv. It had only just begun.
"Ari, you have a tv in your room. Go watch it up there." She demands kindly.
"But this one bigger," Ariana argues with a pout. Emma sighs followed by an eye roll and proceeds to tell the four year old that a tv is a tv. But before she can, "You do too!"
"Who's house is this again?" Emma questions.
"Mama's." Ariana innocently states. It's adorable how serious her multicolored eyes are glistening and Emma can't help but laugh.
"Fine, you've won this time."
"Yes!"
Emma changes the channel back and get's comfortable for a long 30 minutes of unicorns and rainbows. She's not a big fan of my little pony but she doesn't mind it either. They're cute and the way Regina adores them makes them all the more cuter. Just on cue the brunette comes downstairs dressed in that pink hoodie of course and her hair in a messy bun just like her daughter's.
"Well hello there," Emma purrs as Regina climbs onto the couch and cuddles into her side. Emma wraps her other arm around the older woman comfortably as the other one is wrapped snug around Ariana. Just holding these two gives her the greatest feelings in the world. "How was your nap Gi Gi?"
"Fine daddy," Regina hums as she places a gentle kiss to Emma's lips.
"My turn!" Ariana orders, earning a smile from both of her beautiful mothers.
"Come here," Regina chuckles and pulls the tiny tyke onto her lap. Just as Emma always does to herself, Regina places kisses all over Ariana's chunky little face. When done, she climbs into Emma's lap while still holding their beautiful creation close. "Sooo..."
"Sooo..." both blondes mock playfully. The little one looks up while the other one looks down. They both have this resembled skeptical look filled with anticipation that Regina absolutely cannot help but chuckle at.
"I was thinking in my dream right?"
"Oh boy," Ariana groans like her older sisters, forcing a laugh to cackle from Emma's chest and a glare from Regina.
"Let mama speak her peace Ari."
"Well I was gonna say that we should take a walk and have a picnic for dinner but fuck it." Regina shrugs.
"No wait! I'm sorry!" Ariana begs.
"See what you did," Emma scoffs. "You ruined a perfect dinner."
"Well I didn't know," Ariana defends with puppy eyes towards her brunette mother. "Pweaaasseee?!"
"And then," Regina continues like the evil thing she can be just to stir the pot a little. "When it got a little dark out, I was thinking we could catch fireflies."
"That sounds really fun." Emma smirks knowing all too well this is something Regina secretly yearns to do herself. As a child she has never done it before and lately she has been doing things that Cora never allowed such as picnics and catching fireflies. Hell, the last time she swung on a swing set was when she were 5 and her father was to thank for that.
"So," Regina stands, forcing Ariana onto her hip. "I will be nice even though you really hurt mama's feelings."
"I'm so sorry," Ariana whispers loudly and gently taps her mother's cheek. "We love and appreciate you mama right mommy?"
"Absolutely," Emma groans as she stands and stretches her muscles. "How in the hell do you know such a big word?"
"Youtube!" Figures.
"Let's go get dressed!" Regina playfully growls in song like she always does with Ari. She loves that her daughter laughs with pure joy every time she does it. As the two head upstairs, with Emma following behind, the blonde gets a phone call along the way.
"What's up?"
"Em, doll!" August enthuses happily. "So I just saw your babe on tv right?"
"Oh boy," Emma teases just like Ariana did.
"Just hear me out! Okay so I just met this cute boy like two weeks ago, and it got me thinking. Since you never formerly introduced me to my most favorite human being in the world, we should go on a double date! Soon yeah?"
"I'll have to see if my mom will babysit. Honestly August, there's alot going on at the moment and there isn't many options. Things have gotten crazy." Emma vents truthfully.
"Like fan stalker crazy or my family is circus freaks crazy?"
"The second one," Emma sighs.
"Oooo!" August sings. "I need all the tea honey!"
"I can't right now. Gina wants to go on a picnic and what my girls want–"
"They get," August mocks. Emma laughs at her gbf and glances happily at her daughter jumping on the bed with the most purest smile on her face. "You know, you're great Emma. Not much loyalty is born in this world and you're a perfect package deal."
"Aww thanks!"
"Still, I don't get how you managed to swoop Regina fucking Mills off her feet at 16! If I knew it was that
easy I would have tested my luck on Jason Mamoa a long time ago."
"You are ridiculous August you know that?" Emma laughs.
"And always! Text me bitch, I'll see ya soon I hope!"
"I definitely will. Bye babes."
By the time Emma hangs up, Ariana is fully dressed in her shorts and favorite t-shirt. Of course Regina is going to settle on the same pink hoodie she stole from Emma and a pair of leggings. Definitely have to get more hoodies so she has more options.
"Our adventure awaits!" Ariana declares. Her mother joins in on the fun as always enthusiastically,
"Let's do this!" She kneels down a bit to allow Ariana to jump on her back. Regina races out of the room and down the stairs like a child leaving Emma to remind,
"Be careful babe!"
"We are!" The two call back up to her. Emma happily smiles to herself as she tidies up Ariana's room super quick and then proceeds to turn off all lights on this floor only. Doing the whole house would take forever and it's not like Regina has problems with money anyways. All she truly cared about is a clean house; it's always been that way.
The girls happily walk downtown towards the park, making a few stops along the way. They already had their basket and blanket ready, allowing Ariana to hold it. They still needed snacks and sandwiches; the hoagie shack is the perfect stop. Regina ordered her Italian with no onions, Emma ordered one too with lots of mayo and Ariana settled for tuna. They grabbed lots of snacks as well and then ventured off to the park.
Once they make it to the spot that Regina chose, Ariana gasps at her favorite person leaning against the big willow tree,
"Ruby!!!!!"
"ARI!" Ruby squeals happily. Ariana runs high tail up the hill towards her best adult friend and jumps into a hug. "Hey bug!"
"I missed you!" Ariana giggles as her body is crushed by strong arms.
"I think I missed you more," Ruby plays after giving it thought.
"Nuh uh!"
"Yuh huh!"
Emma glances at her soulmate as they climb up the hill. Regina's eyes are glued to the huge lake a few feet away. She's captivated by nature itself which allows Emma to learn something knew. She can definitely tell that Regina would absolutely love to go on runs with her in the mornings and evenings; however, Ariana maybe a different story so it just may never happen. Oh well...
"So this is a play date?" Emma questions, slightly startling Regina to attention. "I was wondering why you got a full sized sub with that little ass stomach."
Regina purses her lips and playfully shoves Emma. When Emma teases her it always makes her blush and her heart rage always picks up as it beats with nothing but love. Their relationship is never boring and that's the soul thing Regina will forever be thankful for.
"Well it's also a celebration," Regina whispers. "Ruby found a daddy. I just had to come up with the best way to celebrate while involving Ari."
"So you came up with this? Clever..." Emma compliments.
"I know!" Regina confidently squeals at Emma's approval and skips the rest of the way towards Ruby.
With love and happiness filled in her heart, Emma follows Regina up the hill towards the spot under the big Willow tree. It gives a beautiful scene of the huge lake and meadow beyond.
"Hey Emmy!" Ruby squeals, wrapping her arms around Ruby. Emma holds her just as tight.
"Congrats on your new daddy. What's he like?"
"Oh he's amazing!" Ruby explains to both Regina and Emma. "He's gentle and caring. We have lots of fun dates!"
"That's great," Emma nods firmly before turning to her girls. She watches as Ariana and Regina create a cute little game out of spreading the picnic blanket.
"What about you? I hear you?"
"Me?" The blonde purses her lip earning giggles from the talk brunette beside her.
"Yeah! What are you going to do with that degree of yours?" The question stumps Emma. She never really thought about it to be honest. There's many things she can strive to be in the field except become a lawyer or judge; that takes more years of studying.
"I don't know," she shrugs after long thought. "Maybe a correctional officer or a P.O. Both can be alot of work and strenuous but its comes with alot of money."
"That's true."
"Mommy! Ruby! Come eat!" Ariana calls out to them. The adorable blonde then stuffs her face with her tuna sandwich and chews it quickly before swallowing. Emma knows that the girl developed her eating habits, hence, the way Ariana is scarfing down her sandwich. But the little girl is beyond excited about the say. It's her first picnic with her moms and Ruby.
Once the girls are done eating, they take a few minutes to let their stomach digest. They all take peaceful little walk around the lake and feed the ducks they find. They also saw a turtle and few frogs along the way which was kind of not a good thing because Ariana kept begging for a pet turtle since then.
"Why can't I have one?" She whines as Regina pulls out the empty jars from the basket.
"Ariana we are not having a turtle in my house. Why can't you want a dog or something?"Regina huffs, rolling her eyes at her daughter.
"Because, turtles are cuter." Regina gasps seeming utterly appalled at the statement. She does truly adore furry friends especially horses. There's no way that a reptile is cuter than a turtle. She has completely lost her mind! "Silly mama." Ari giggles.
"You take that back." Regina points her demand. Ariana shakes her head,
"Nope! Turtles are cuter!"
"Take it back!" Regina demands yet again. Instead of arguing with her brunette mother, Ariana shakes her head no and makes a run for it. As she expects, Regina chases right after her.
From her spot on the picnic blanket, Emma delightfully watches her girls run around against the sunset. She took about a dozen pictures of them tonight, some includes Ruby, but it doesn't hurt to take plenty of more. It wasn't until they saw the first fire fly that they decided to calm down and catch them. Ariana is a bubbly mess, letting her excitement overwhelm her body.
"Like this Ari." Ruby instructs. She demonstrates, slowly opening her jar and aiming it towards the firefly. Then she closes it once the fire fly is inside. "See?"
"Woah!" Ariana gasps at all the twinkling bugs that Ruby still has. As the two continue to catch the creatures, Regina races back up the hill, climbing in Emma's lap.
"You needed this huh?" Emma questions softly, holding Regina tight around her midsection.
"Uh huh." She nods and bites her lip in thought. Her neck cranes so that she could see Emma behind her better. "I just wanted to stop thinking about Cora for a while."
"I know baby." Emma coos, gently placing a wet kiss to that sweet spot on Regina's neck.
"It scares me that I don't know what she wants. It's like my nightmares are coming to get me again. And the fact that she's after my daughters–"
"Relax Gina. I promise I won't let anything happen to any of you okay?" Regina looks Emma deeply in her green eyes. Her very own brown ons are filling with tears because of Emma's vow. She couldn't have picked a better person to be her daddy.
"I love you so much Daddy," Regina gently whispers. She inches close to Emma who is already meeting her halfway before she can say it back. The two divulge in the most passionate kiss that only lasts a few second due to Emma's phone suddenly ringing.
