Harry, Ron and Hermione have gone into Hogsmeade for the day, they did ask me to go with them but I told them that I'm spending the day with Draco since I've hardly seen him, and when I do eventually see him, he stressed, pale and snappy, same with Blaise. He also keeps disappearing throughout the day.
I've tried asking Draco what's wrong but he keeps saying that him and Blaise are just catching up on homework. Total bullshit, if you ask me, but I don't want to keep pushing him for answers because then it will turn into an argument that I don't really want to have.
I knock on his bedroom door and I hear him walkover over to it. It opens and Draco is stood there in jogging bottoms and no top. He's still got the bandage on his arm, but I don't say anything and just look at his body.
"Are you coming in or are you just going to stare at me?" he asks.
"I'm going to stare at you."
"Just get in here, you perv" I laugh as he grabs my hand and pulls me into his room, closing and locking the door behind him.
Draco walks over to the window and just stands there, looking at the view of the Black Lake. I walk over to him and touch his arm, which makes me flinch away from me. I look and see that it was his right arm I touched, so why did he flinch away from me?
"Draco, is everything ok?"
He nods. "Yes, everything is fine" he clearly lied.
"You know you can talk to me, right? No matter what it is. You can talk to me about anything, and I mean anything."
I see him touch his left arm, before he turns to look at me. I thought he was going to confess that he's a Death Eater, but he just looks back out the window. Maybe I could tell him I know, well, I don't know for sure, I'm only guessing at this point, but my mind is leaning more to that he is.
Ok, I'm just going to ask him, it's the only way to know for sure.
"Draco, are you" I flinch when he suddenly glares at me "hungry?" I finish, but of course, that wasn't really what I was going to ask him but after that look he had given me, I wasn't going to risk it. I guess he knew what I was going to ask him and it's clear that he doesn't want to talk about it, either that or he doesn't want me knowing because he probably thinks I'm going to hate him or something, which is not the case.
His face softens a little. "Yeah, I am a little bit actually."
"Shall we go down to the kitchens then?"
"No need. I can have my house elf bring us some food."
"You have an house elf here at Hogwarts?"
"Yes, I believe you know him" I look at him confused, but Draco just smirks. "Dobby, I need you" he shouts and within a few seconds Dobby is in his room.
"Dobby" I say surprise. I haven't seen Dobby since I was 12. Someone, who I later found out was Harry, had tricked Lucius into freeing him. Something that I was happy about because I had seen how Lucius was with him and he was so horrible.
It was a shock when I first saw him. I had never heard Lucius rise his voice up until that point, and I never thought that he would hit someone, so it was rather scary for my 4 year old self to witness.
"Miss Ava, so good to see you again, miss."
"You too, Dobby. I like your top" I say, pointing to his red top that's got a golden Snitch on the front.
"Thank you, Miss Ava. Dobby bought it with his wages, miss."
"Dobby, could you please bring all of this to the astronomy tower in 20 minutes" Draco says, handing him a piece of paper.
Dobby takes it off him and looks at it. "Of course, sir, Dobby can do that for Master Malfoy."
"Here Dobby, this is for you" Draco says, going into his pocket and pulling out a Galleon. "Get yourself something nice."
"Thank you, Master Malfoy" he says bowing. "Dobby will himself some sock. Dobby likes socks" he says, before disappearing.
I look at Draco and smiles. "That was very sweet of you."
"Well, he deserves it, doesn't he? He wasn't exactly treated right by my father, so this is me making up for that."
"Wait, what did the paper say? I thought we were getting some food."
"We are" he smiles. "It will be waiting for us in the astronomy tower."
"What food did you pick?"
"You will find out soon. I'm just going to freshen up before we leave" he kisses me before walking into the bathroom. I smile to myself and lie down on his bed.
10 minute later Draco is walking out of the bathroom wearing a different jogging bottoms, plain blue top and a jacket that matches his trousers.
"Do you like what you say?" he smirks.
"Yeah, although it's weird seeing you dress like this. You're normally wear a suit."
"Felt like chilling out tonight and I can't do that in a suit" he shrugs.
"I like it" I say, getting off the bed and walking over to him. "Very sexy."
"Not so bad yourself, Snape" he looks at me. "Ready to go?"
"Yep, let's go" we leave his room and head to the astronomy tower. When we reach the top, I see that the food is already there. I look at the blanket, that's on the floor, and see that it's filled with pizza, chips, chicken strips and Pepsi.
"It's like a Muggle take away" I says smiling.
"A what?"
"In the Muggle word you can order food at home and someone will deliver it to your door. Most people have pizza take away, but there are so many others take away places out there."
"Oh, that's weird, yet useful when you don't feel like cooking. And I picked this because I know how much you like pizza."
"Very useful" I say as we sit down on the blanket. We fill up our plates and start eating. "When I was home from Beauxbatons, me and dad would have a take away every Friday night."
"Wait" he says, looking at me, "I've had a take away at your house before, haven't I? I remember Snape ordering something over the phone then food appeared at the door."
"Yeah, we had chicken chow mein, or as you put it, 'eww, why's there worms on my plate'" I say laughing.
He rolls his eyes. "In my defence, I'd never seen that food before, so I was confused because it actually did look like worms. It was good though, I enjoyed it."
"I enjoyed it too."
We carry on eating and just talked about anything we would think of. It was the perfect date, and for a few hours, I had the old Draco back.
I find out from Hermione that Katie Bell got cured in Hogsmeade on the day that me and Draco didn't go. She touched a cursed necklace that she seemed to got out of nowhere. Dad said that she's so lucky to be alive. Apparently, she touched the necklace with a gloved handed that had a little hole in them, so only a bit of her skin touched the necklace. If she had touched it with her whole hand, then she would have died on the spot.
Harry tried blaming Draco for the whole thing. I told him that it was complete bullshit and that Draco was with me the whole day.
I might be in two minds about Draco being a Death Eater, but I know that he would never hurt everyone. And deep down I don't think Voldemort would ask him to do anything to prove himself since Lucius is in his inner circle, so he knows that Draco will be loyal to him. well, fake loyal anyway.
I don't think Draco will never be loyal to him. I've heard the way he talks about Voldemort and he hates him and wants him dead.
Harry didn't say anything else after that and went on to tell me that he meet Slughorn in the Three Broomsticks and that he's invited me, Harry and Hermione to a little dinner party, which just so happens to be tonight.
I really don't feel like going but I've got to since it's a opportunity to get close to Slughorn. I just hope he doesn't ask me any questions or let something slip about me and Harry being family.
I look at myself in the mirror and check my clothes. I'm wearing nothing special, just some blue jeans and Draco's Slytherin's jumper.
"Hurry up, Ava!" Blaise shouts, from the bottom of the stairs. He also got invited to Slughorn's dinner party, Draco did too, but he said he wasn't feeling very well so he's gone to bed early. I did say I would stay with him but he insist that I go to the dinner party. He did look rather ill though, so hopefully a good night sleep will make him feel better.
"I'm coming!" I shout back, before grabbing my bag and rushing out of the room. I rush down the stairs and jump the last 4 steps, making Blaise rise his eyebrow at me. "Ok, let's go."
He nods and holds out his arm. I smile and link arms with him and we leave the common room and walk to Slughron's office. Blaise knocks on the door as soon as we reach it and we hear a 'come in' he opens the door and walk inside only to find a circle table in the middle of the room.
Harry and Hermione were already sitting at the table, Neville was also siting with him. Then I see Cormac sitting on his own and some other people I've never talked to before.
"Ahh, Ava, Blaise, so nice of you to join us. Please, come and sit down" Slughorn says, cheerfully.
We walk over to the table and sit in the two chairs that are together, and unlucky for me, one is next to Cormac. I tried sitting in the other one but Blaise nudged me out of the way and sat down first. I give him a look but he just smirks at me.
I huff and sit down. "Jeez, I'm not that bad, you know" Cormac whispers.
"You were rude to Harry and tried to hit him."
"I was just angry, and anyway, you cursed me."
"I was trying to stop you from hitting Harry, and just be grateful I only used a freezing charm."
Cormac goes to say something but Slughorn cuts him off. "Well, everyone, tuck in" he says smiling as food magically appears on the table. I smile happily and start filling up my plate with chicken, peas, carrots, potatoes, onion rings and gravy.
While everyone was eating, Slughorn started asking us one by one about our families, everyone but me and Harry that is, something that I'm glad about since everyone already knows my dad and I didn't really want to talk about my mom. There isn't exactly a lot I could say about her anyway.
Once everyone had finish eating the food disappeared and puddings appeared. I wasn't going to have any pudding since I was full from dinner, but I soon changed my mind when I was that the puddings was chocolate cake and ice cream.
I look around the table and see that there's some chocolate cake left.
"Sir" I say, which makes Slughorn and everyone else look at me. "I was wondering, and I'm being very cheeky here, but I was wondering if I could take some chocolate cake back for Draco, he's not feeling very well you see, and I think cake will cheer him up a little."
"Of course, my girl, by all means" he says, smiling.
"Thank you" I say smiling, as I put a piece of chocolate on a plate, then put another plate on top to keep the chocolate fresh. I see Cormac looking at me from the corner of my eye. I look at him and he rises his eyebrow at me.
"What? Cake always makes me feeling better, and it's even better when it's chocolate cake."
He smiles and shakes his head. I look at Blaise and see him staring at the table. I wish I knew what he and Draco were up to these days, I've hardly seen them over the last few weeks, and when I do see them, all they want to do is go to their room, but I know their not sleeping because they always come out looking worst than they did going in.
I don't even know what made me do it, but I glanced at his left arm then quickly looked away. Surely not him too.
I pull some cake closer to Blaise. "Maybe you should have some cake too, you seem a little bit -"
"A little bit what, Ava?" he cuts him off harshly.
I blink at him a few times since he's never talked to me like that before so I'm a little taken back. "You just seem a little bit down, that's all."
"I'm just tried. Can't wait for this to be over with so I can go to bed."
"Do you think Draco will be asleep when we get back?"
"How am I meant to know that?" he says, even harsher than before.
"I was only asking you a question, there's no need to be so harsh about it."
I flinch when he suddenly my wrist from under the table. He must have realised what he did because he immediately lets go. I look at him but he doesn't look at me. What was that all about? I need to find out what's wrong with my boys, but how? How am I meant to do that without making them angry? Follow them, maybe? No, that's a stupid idea. They will be pissed for sure if they catch me.
I sigh in frustration.
"You ok, Snape?" Cormac whispers.
I look at him and nod. "Yeah, I'm fine, and you can call me Ava, you know."
He smiles. "Ok, Ava."
The dinner party as ended and everyone is getting up to leave. I also get ready to leave but get stopped by Harry. "What's wrong?" I ask.
"Nothing, but maybe we should stay behind a bit, it will gives us time to talk to him alone."
I nod and we walk over to his desk and wait until he's said good bye to everyone else. I look around and see this very cool looking hourglass.
"Potter! Snape!" Slughorn gasped, putting his hand over his heart."
"Sorry, sir, we didn't mean to scare you" I say.
"Yeah, we were just admiring your hourglass" Harry adds, pointing to it.
"Ah yes, most intriguing object. The sand runs in accordance with the quality of the conversation, it is stimulating the sand runs slowly, if it is not -"
"I'll think we will be going then" Harry says, cutting him off. I look at him confused and give him a 'I thought you wanted to talk to him' look, but Harry just smiles.
"Nonsense, you have nothing to fear, my dear children, as for some of your classmates, well, let's just say they're unlikely to make the shelf?"
"The shelf, sir?" we both ask.
"Anyone who aspires to be anyone hopes to end up here" he says, showing us a shelf filled with photos, "but then again, you already are someone, aren't you, Harry, you too, Ava. Although, no one knows about you."
"He knows" I mutter under my breath.
"Did Voldemort ever make the shelf, you knew him, didn't you, sir? Tom Riddle? You were his teacher" Harry says, making Slughorn spill the drink he was pouring into a glass.
"Mr Riddle had a number of teachers while here at Hogwarts."
"What was he like?" I ask, but he didn't answer me. "Sorry" I quickly add when I see the look on his face.
"Forgive us, sir, he killed my parents and Ava's mom" Harry says.
"Of course, it's only natural you should want to know more, but I'm afraid I must disappoint you both. When I first met young Mr Riddle, he was a quiet, albeit brilliant. Committed to becoming a first rate wizard, not unlike the others I've known. If the monster existed, it was buried deep within."
We say our good byes and leave his office.
"It's wasn't good, but it wasn't bad either" I say, as Harry walks me to my common room.
"He doesn't like talking about Voldemort, does he?"
"A lot of people don't. I think we need to be more careful next you. You know, like try not to say his name, he might open up to us a little more then."
Harry nods. "I agree."
"I'm glad we finally agree on something."
He rolls his eyes. "I will win one of our arguments soon."
"Nah, you won't. I'm just too good at arguing."
"That's because you have an answer for everything."
"And I love it" I say grinning.
We make it to my common room and I say the password, making the portrait swings out. I look at Harry. "Thanks for walking me back" I say, giving him a hug. "Good night, Harry."
"Good night, Ava" I pull away from him and smile, then walk into my common room. I give Harry a little wave good bye before the portraits closed. I look around and see Blaise and Draco sitting on the chair, whispering to each other. They stop when they see me stood there.
I was going to ask what they were talking about but changed my mind at the last minute. "I bought you some chocolate cake" I say, looking at Draco.
He doesn't say anything to me and turns to Blaise. "We will talk later" Blaise nods and disappears off upstairs. Draco looks at me and smile, then pats the seat next to him. I walk over to him and sit down. "So, how are the dinner party?"
"It was alright. The food was good and they had chocolate cake for pudding. I bought you some back, I thought it might cheer you up a little."
"Thank you, Ava, that's very thoughtful of you."
"Not really, I'm hoping you say that you don't want it so I can eat it" he laughs a little. "I'm joking, of course, the cake is yours."
"We can share it."
"No, it's fine, I've had enough anyway. You eat it, it looks like you need it."
"What's that meant to mean?" he frowns.
"You just look thinner than normal, that's all."
He looks down at his body and frowns. "I'm not that thin" then he looks at me. "I have been eating, you know. Just not as much as I was before."
He takes the plate off me and removes the one that was on top and just stares at the cake. "You don't have to eat it if you don't want to."
"No, no I want it, It's just bigger than I thought" I snort a little. "You're such a perv at time, you know that, right?" he smirks.
"I can't help it. It's the way you word things."
He shakes his head, as he picks up the fork and start eating the cake. Without 5 minutes or so, Draco had finished the cake. He looks at me and smiles.
"That was lovely, thank you."
"Your welcome" I smiles back. "So, what do you want to do now?"
"You!" he smirks, moving closer to me.
I roll my eyes. "Of course you would say something like that."
"You asked the question, I was just giving you an answer."
"So you want to do me, do you?"
"Yes, I want to take you upstairs and have my way with you."
"Blaise is up there though."
"Here on the sofa then."
"Eww no! Anyone can walk in."
"Your room."
"You can't get up the stairs."
He sighs, but it soon turns into a smirk. He stands up and holds out his hand. I take it and he pulls me to my feet. "I know the perfect place."
Before I could ask where this perfect place was, he starts dragging me out of the common room and down the corridor. I look at him and he winks back, which makes me blush a little. We make it to the 7th floor and stand in front of the wall that leads to the room of requirement.
Draco closes his eye and within a few second a door appears. "Draco" I whisper in his ear, making him shiver.
"That's just mean" he says opening his eyes.
"You know you love it really."
"I do, I love hearing you say, whisper and scream my name" he says, as he opens the door.
I look at him and frown. "I don't scream your name."
"Oh god Draco! Don't stop Draco! Keep going Draco!" he says loudly.
"I don't say any of that."
"You're about to" before I could say anything else, he grabs my hand and drags me into the room of requirement, closing and locking the door behind us.
