That night after Alex got off work, she was at her apartment getting ready for bed when she had a hunch about something. Opening her computer, Alex did a little bit of research. She found some CCTV footage from three months ago. It was of her friend Samantha Arias.
The first thing that Alex noticed was that Sam's eyes were black and her skin was pale. Then Alex spotted the weird almost choker like necklace around Sam's neck. The necklace had a black ribbon with a black gem-like pendant in the middle, which Alex saw glowing white.
"What the hell?" Alex muttered
Alex wasn't sure what was going on with Sam on the footage, but she knew it wasn't Reign. Lena said that Reign was dead. Alex didn't ponder what was happening with Sam for too long, because her next thought had jumped to Ruby.
Ruby may have been nineteen now, but that was still young and Alex still worried about the girl, even though they hadn't spoken in almost four months.
It was pretty late right now and Alex was sure that Ruby was asleep, so before crawling into bed Alex left a note for herself to call Ruby in the morning. She could wait a few hours to find out what was going on. At least that was what Alex hoped, wondering if Ruby was in danger or if she was safe, but Alex quickly pushed that thought out of her head.
'No.' She thought, 'Ruby's at college. Plus she has that watch I gave her. If she was in trouble, she would use it.' And closing her eyes, Alex tried to sleep, while telling herself that Ruby was safe at college in a dorm room at Metropolis University.
Meanwhile at Mount Carmel, despite how late it was Nora couldn't seem to fall asleep. A million thoughts were racing through her mind.
'What if the fire breathing woman isn't found in time?'
'What if she is never found?'
'What if I'm here for the birth of my child and Ray misses the birth of his daughter or son?'
'What if…? What if….? What if….?" Nora thought over and over again. Her mind was racing and she couldn't seem to quiet it down.
Deciding to try a cup of warm milk, Nora climbed out of the warmth of the bed and headed to the kitchen.
After Nora got her warm milk, she was walking back to her room when she encountered 37 year old Yvette Fagan in the hallway.
"Can't sleep either?" Nora wondered
Yvette shook her head, "No. I don't usually go to sleep early and Charlie wanted someone to sit with her. Her powers are out of whack again. So what seems to be keeping you awake?"
Nora took a sip of her milk, swallowing it before answering, "Just worried."
"About?"
"About Ray and the fire breathing woman that I saw. They can't find her. She's just gone and until they do find her, until the danger is gone, I'm stuck here." Nora explained, "Not that that's a bad thing. I love you guys, but I'm just afraid that if they don't find her Ray will miss the birth of his child."
Yvette nodded, "Oh. No worries, Nora. I understand."
Nora let out a breath, "Okay. Well good night, Yvette."
"Night Nora. Hope you are able to get to sleep."
"Me too." Nora added
A few hours had passed by and it was morning. Alex crawled out of bed and before taking a shower, she was going to call Ruby, when she got a call from her sister. Kara's voice was laced with worry and there was a very frantic voice in the background. It kind of sounded like Ruby.
"Kara, is that Ruby in the background?" Alex wondered
"Yes." Alex heard Kara reply in the affirmative, "As I was saying about Ruby, she…."
Alex interrupted, not letting Kara finish talking, "Put her on the phone. I wanna talk to Ruby."
There was a brief second of silence and then Alex heard Ruby's voice. She sounded like she had been and still was crying. She was talking very fast too.
"Wait, Ruby, slow down." Alex said, trying to keep her voice calm, "What was that about a sister?"
She heard Ruby take in a breath, "She's gone, Aunt Alex. My sister is gone. They took her."
"Who took her?"
"The people that killed her mother and father. They have been after her since she was born."
Alex took in the information, "Your sister's adopted."
"I found her when she was two." Ruby told Alex, "And Aunt Alex, my mom's missing. She went missing three months ago."
"I know, sweetheart. I just discovered that last night. Why didn't you call me?"
Ruby was silent for a moment, "I was...I wanted to protect my sister. I thought it would be easier if less people knew about her."
"Okay. I'll be...I'm coming, Ruby. Just stay with Kara. We'll find your sister."
"I know." Ruby replied
"I love you." Alex uttered
"I love you too, Aunt Alex." Ruby said, still thinking about her sister.
On the Beebo Nation Earth, Zari woke up to find herself inside of a tornado of wind. Much like the one she had created on the waverider during the Gideon bomb simulation. It didn't take much for her to realise that her totem was responsible for the tornado and the strong winds that were surrounding it.
As the winds died down - but only around her, almost like she had a force field - Zari saw someone standing in front of her. It wasn't anyone that she recognised though. But she did recognise what they were wearing. It was her totem.
"Who are you? Why do you have my totem?"
"It was a present."
Zari hummed, "Well, I didn't give it to you, so can I have it back please."
"It was a present from the leader."
"Uh-huh. And who's your leader?" Zari asked, "Actually wait, you never answered my first question. Who are you?"
The person pointed at themself, "I...My name is Mardola."
"Okay. Who's your leader? What do you want with me?
"Nothing. You just needed to be out of our way for us to complete our mission."
Zari looked confused, "What mission?"
Mardola just walked away, a tornado surrounded Zari again. Mardola never answered Zari's questions about who the leader was and what their mission was. She just left Zari trapped inside of a tornado.
Zari let out a breath, "Yeah. This is great. Just great."
Back with Alex, she arrived at the DEO where she was bombarded with a hug from a crying Ruby. She hugged the girl back, trying to reassure her that they would find her sister.
"Ruby, I need you to tell me everything you can about your sister."
The nineteen year old paused briefly, "She's a nephilim."
"What?" Kara exclaimed, "She's half-angel, half-human?"
Ruby turned around to face Kara as she shook her head, "No. She's...her mom was a werewolf and her dad was a nephilim. She's half-werewolf, quarter-human and quarter-angel, but she looks human."
"What's the big deal about nephilims?" Alex wondered
"They're forbidden." Kara said
Ruby nodded, "That's why her dad was killed. Her mom just happened to be in the way, trying to protect the father of her child."
"What's your sister's name?" Alex asked
"Well, her wolf name is Shiba." Ruby replied, "But Mom and I named her. We call her Netty, but her name is Sonnet."
Alex smiled, "That's pretty." She glanced at her sister, "Kara, can you fly around and use your x-ray vision to look for the Sonnet."
Kara gave a nod, "Yeah. Ruby already showed me a picture from her phone." Then she was off. She flew right out the window of the DEO.
Ruby let of a sigh, still pretty worried about her sister. Worried that by the time they found Sonnet, she would be dead.
Seeing the worry on Ruby's face, Alex placed a hand on Ruby's shoulder, "We'll find your sister. I promise."
"I know. I'm just worried that we won't find her in time. What if she's already dead?"
"Tell me about your sister."
Ruby gave a small smile, thinking about Sonnet, "Well, she's pretty strong for a six year old. She's got some really sharp teeth too. She's smart, smarter than I was at her age, and fast."
"Do you think she could take care of herself? Hold her own until we find her?"
Ruby shrugged, "I don't know. Maybe. I hope."
"Hope's all we got right now, kiddo, and hope can be a powerful thing."
"Yeah." Ruby agreed, thinking back to when her mom had to fight back against Reign.
Hope you enjoyed. Leave a comment if you liked it.
Who is this leader that Mardola mentioned? What is the mission?
