A/N: I am so so glad so many of you are happy with Baby GIRL Halstead! Ahh I still can't believe that I can start writing 'she' lol. Thank you all so so much, really. All your reviews and comments and messages made me smile and I so appreciate each of you. Thank you.

Hailey looked up from play with Drew and Blake to see Jay bring the ironing board into the kitchen. She smiled, "Getting ready for tomorrow?"

Jay nodded, "I have yours too."

Hailey laughed, "Is mine even going to fit?"

Jay chuckled, "I don't care, I just want it wrinkle free."

Drew sat up, "Why?"

Jay glanced at him then began ironing his dress uniform, "Because tomorrow's a big day. It's important. I've been wanting this for a while and everything needs to be perfect."

"What do I wear?" Drew asked.

Jay nodded toward the clothes on one of the kitchen chairs, "That."

Drew hurried over and grabbed the light blue shirt and khakis. He sighed, "Fine. What's Blake wearing? I don't see his clothes."

"He has an outfit upstairs," Jay said.

"You need to iron it," Drew crossed his arms.

"I'm not ironing baby clothes," Jay shook his head.

"But he's not a baby, he's a middle child now," Drew watched Jay slowly iron his uniform.

Hailey smiled, "Come back here and leave Dad alone. He wants to focus."

"Dad's a sergeant now, he can focus on a lot of things at once," Drew sat at the table.

"Honey," Hailey laughed, "Get over here."

Drew groaned, "Fine." He walked back over and plopped on the couch to watch Blake push the cars around on the carpet with Hailey until he got bored and decided to crawl over to his stuffed animals to lay on top of them.

Hailey smiled at him then moved onto the couch next to Drew, "Are you tired too?"

Drew shrugged, "Not really." He looked back over at Jay, "What's going to happen tomorrow?"

"There's a ceremony and some other officers are getting promoted too, so we'll hear some things about what it means to work for Chicago and stuff like that and then Dad will get a new badge," Hailey pulled her feet up on the cushions, "It shouldn't be too long."

"Do I have to do anything?" Drew asked.

Hailey shook her head, "No, we'll just watch."

Drew lowered his voice, "Do you think Dad's nervous?"

Hailey followed his gaze to Jay furiously ironing his uniform. She smiled slightly, "I think so."

Drew nodded, "This is a big deal. I think it's cool, though. I've always known Dad was strong and smart. And obviously you."

Hailey raised an eyebrow, "I'm strong and smart?"

"Yup," Drew laid down to rest his head on the pillow to watch the TV, "You're the best parents for me. I hope you're a sergeant someday too; maybe after Puppy comes out of you, then you can do it."

Hailey swallowed the lump in her throat then patted his foot, "Thank you."

Drew yawned and curled up with his knees to his chest.

Hailey watched him try to focus on the animals on the screen as he fought his eyelids from closing. She scooted closer to him and set her hand on his leg. He was breathing slowly and had moved his hand back toward her. She smiled because all she could see was Jay in that moment.

She could see him sleeping next to her for countless nights whether they were friends or more. Like Drew, he always seemed to reach for her even if they had just gotten in an argument over something small like packing all the leftovers for lunch the next day. His fingers had a mind of their own and would intertwine with her own by morning each night.

She rubbed her thumb over Drew's leg and tilted her head to the side.

"What?" he breathed.

Hailey laughed softly and shook her head, "Just looking at you. You remind me of Dad."

Drew's face lit up and he sat up quickly, "Really?"

Hailey nodded, "Everyday."

Drew looked back at Jay, "How?"

Hailey smiled, "Like how you care so much about all of us and how you like to hold our hands when we're just sitting around."

"You taught me that," Drew said, "You taught me that it's okay to hold hands. No one gets hurt just from holding hands."

Hailey leaned over and kissed his forehead, "I'm glad I could show you that."

"I love being here," Drew let out a breath, "Every single day, I think about how happy I am. I have a really good life."

Hailey bit her lip and took a deep breath, "And that makes me super happy too."

Drew smiled and stood up, "Is it okay if I go take a shower?"

Hailey nodded, "Want us to go wait in the hall for you?"

Drew hesitated. He'd broken the habit while Jay was gone, but he still wanted that feeling of safety from having someone waiting in the hall for him. "Maybe…you can come upstairs and wait in Buzz's room," he finally suggested.

Hailey pushed herself off the couch, "I can do that. You head up there and I'll grab Buzz."

Drew nodded in return before hurrying upstairs.

"Jay," Hailey said while going over to lift a sleepy Blake in her arms.

"Yeah?" he looked up from ironing his pants.

"We'll be upstairs, Drew's going to shower," Hailey walked into the kitchen, "Are you going to head up to bed once you're done?"

"I'll be up to say 'goodnight' to both of them," Jay nodded.

Hailey smiled and brought Blake up to his nursery. She hummed softly while changing him into his pajamas and rubbing lotion into his soft skin. She laughed as he sleepily babbled up at her fighting his heavy eyelids to stay awake just like Drew had been moments before.

She pressed kisses to his small hands and, just like she did every night, whispered, "Mommy loves you. Daddy loves you. Drew loves you. You're such a special baby, you are."

In turn, as always, Blake smiled at her and quietly said, "Mama."

Hailey smiled back and lifted him up grabbing a pacifier for him before sitting on the rocking chair to help him drift off to sleep. She loved being a mom, but rocking her babies to sleep every night might be her absolute favorite part. There was something special about watching Blake's tiny nose wiggle as he dreamt and seeing any stress drain from Drew once he'd fallen asleep and was at peace next to her. Seeing them sleep was just a reminder that they were safe in her home.

When she had slept growing up, it had been an escape from the realities of her father and the abuse that littered their house. It hadn't necessarily been peaceful. There were nights when she'd have nightmares that he'd hurt her or her brothers again or wake up to her mom dead. She was just grateful that the nightmares almost immediately stopped when she'd moved out and gone to college. It had been a good incentive to buy her own apartment and never return to that damned house.

She never wanted Drew, Blake, or Puppy (she took a deep breath, but still smiled slightly at the nickname that she was worried was going to stick) to avoid coming home. Personally, they were her reason to come home along with Jay.

She glanced toward the open door and wondered why she hadn't heard Jay yet. Drew had left the bathroom just a minute before and gone into his room to put his pajamas on.

She kissed Blake's head and went to place him in the crib under the soft blue blanket he was becoming attached to before heading out to Drew's room.

"Drew," she said as she knocked on his door. She then cracked the door, "Can I come in?"

"Yeah, I'm just reading," Drew said.

Hailey smiled and stepped in his room, "Which book?"

He held up one of his Magic Treehouse books, "I'm reading chapter books now, remember?"

"Of course," Hailey nodded, "Did Dad come in yet?"

"No," Drew turned on the light Jay had attached to the corner of his bed, "Is he still ironing stuff?"

"Must be," Hailey sighed, "Okay, I'll go get him. You can read until we come back, but you're not staying up all night."

Drew glanced toward her, "How will you know?"

Hailey crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow, "Really?"

Drew nodded.

Hailey cracked a smile, "I know. I'm smart. Until I get back."

Drew groaned quietly, but still sank down within his blankets and continued reading.

Hailey let out a breath and went downstairs to see Jay sitting on the couch. "Hey," she said softly, "Drew's waiting for you. I mean, he'll be fine if you take a while since he's reading, but I don't want him up all night again."

Jay looked up, "Hey."

Hailey softened, "You okay?"

Jay took a deep breath then held up his small family photo album, "Just looking at this."

Hailey walked around to sit next to him, "Your mom would have been so proud of you."

Jay rubbed his face and showed her the picture he was looking at, "I'm wishing my dad was here."

Hailey stared down at the picture of his dad in his lap. She frowned and looked back up at him.

"He came to my academy graduation and I had no idea," Jay whispered, "Can you imagine how he would have reacted to me becoming a sergeant?"

"Jay," Hailey breathed and scooted closer to him. She set her hand on the back of his neck, "He would have been proud of you too."

"I hope so," Jay cleared his throat, "I have three kids and actually made something out of myself. It's all he wanted for us. I don't know if he thought it was possible, but he wanted it and I did it."

Hailey nodded and stroked her thumb along his hairline.

"God," Jay rubbed his face and closed the photo album, "Okay, uh…"

"Take your time," Hailey breathed, "Drew can wait."

Jay met her eyes and bit his lip.

She smiled at him and rubbed her hand down his back. She set her other hand on his and squeezed it softly.

Jay flipped the photo album back up and slowly looked through the pictures of his family.

Hailey continued lightly brushing her hand along his back as he breathed slowly and stared at a particular picture of his family most likely within a month or so of him being born.

Eventually, she whispered, "I am so proud of you."

Jay looked up at and his eyes widened slightly.

Hailey nodded, "I am. You have come so far from that admittedly reckless detective I first met years ago."

Jay chuckled and wiped his hand down his face, "I was pretty reckless."

Hailey smiled and stroked her thumb along his jaw, "And now you're being promoted to sergeant. Sergeant Halstead. You did this. I know you tell me all the time that you wouldn't be here without me, but the truth is I just gave you little nudges. You did all the work. You dug yourself out of holes and found reasons to be happy again and learned how to cope with difficult situations. That was all you. You earned this promotion the right way and should be proud of yourself."

Jay watched her and a faint smiled crossed his face. He then gently tugged her in his arms and held her tightly for a moment. He closed his eyes and buried his face in her hair.

Hailey kissed his shoulder and breathed, "I love you so much."

"I love you too," Jay softly replied.

Hailey smiled and waited for him to pull away before saying, "Do you want to head upstairs and try to get some sleep before the big day?"

Jay took a deep breath, "Yeah, yeah, that's a good plan. Uh, I'm gonna stop in the boys' rooms and say 'goodnight' then I'll head in there."

Hailey nodded and kissed his forehead, "I'll go get my pajamas on first and meet you in there." She squeezed his hand and led him upstairs breaking apart to go into their bedroom.

She slipped her clothes off in the bathroom before turning to the side to stare at her stomach. She smiled and rubbed her hand over it. "Hi, baby girl," she whispered, "I can't wait for you to officially meet your daddy and learn so much from him. He already loves you so much. We both do."

She was washing her face when Jay stepped in the bathroom and chuckled, "Look at my naked, pregnant wife looking hot as usual."

Hailey laughed and dried her face off, "You still think so?"

"Oh, I know so," Jay smirked and tugged the towel from her hands to lightly pat her face dry, "Drew's actually asleep. I had to turn off his light and put his book away for him."

Hailey hummed and closed her eyes.

Jay set the towel on the counter and trailed his hand down her side, "God, I love looking at you."

Hailey blushed and lightly held onto his wrist.

Jay stepped forward and bent down to meet her lips with his, "You're beautiful and I am proud of you."

Hailey gasped softly when his hand slipped around her to press her hips into his own. Her eyelashes fluttered against his cheeks so close to her own.

"May I?" Jay breathed and lightly tapped his fingers along her opposite side.

Hailey breathily moaned. She'd been wanting him for the past few days, but had honestly been worried about what she'd look like or be able to do now that she'd really popped even with knowing things were most likely going to get much harder as the time ticked on.

Right now, though, she trusted him as she always did and let her happy, loving emotions flood her brain erasing any worry that may have crossed her mind during the past week, so she nodded and slipped her own hand under his shirt to lightly trace the lines of his chest.

Jay smiled against her temple before pressing a soft kiss to her skin and lifting her up to carry her to bed.

The promotion ceremony dragged on for the first fifteen minutes. It was filled with long speeches about upholding the oath and protecting Chicago. Hailey tried focusing on the words, but was easily distracted by Blake quietly playing with the buttons on Will's shirt in the seat next to her. Drew was sitting up perfectly straight and seemed to be listening with his full attention – at least, he was paying more attention than Adam was.

Everyone showed up to not just watch Jay be promoted to sergeant, but to see Hank be promoted to lieutenant as well. Now, instead of just being in charge of Intelligence, he was also going to be splitting his time overseeing the Gang unit. Jay for one was grateful that he'd still be around for advice as he navigated his new role.

Finally, the superintendent announced that each person being promoted was to have one family member or friend come to the front and pin their new badge to their dress uniform.

Hailey stood and nervously tugged at her uniform stretched to its limit over her stomach.

Vanessa smiled at her and gave her a thumbs up.

Hailey smiled back slightly and fixed her jacket before following Trudy to the front of the room. She stood next to Jay and linked her pinky finger with his as they waited for his name to be called.

"Detective Jay Halstead," the superintendent said.

Hailey grabbed the shiny badge off the table and turned to face Jay. She patted his chest softly then began sticking the pin to his uniform.

"Detective Halstead is being promoted to sergeant and will be running his current unit, Intelligence," the superintendent continued, "He is currently joined up here with his wife, Detective Hailey Halstead, and his brother and two sons are here as well today."

Jay winked at Hailey and teasingly pinched her side as she worked.

Hailey let out a soft laugh just as she finished pinning the badge to him. She pushed herself up on her tiptoes to lightly kiss his cheek and whisper, "I love you," in his ear.

"Love you too," Jay whispered back.

Hailey lowered herself back to her feet when she felt a flutter in her stomach. She couldn't stop the soft noise that escaped her lips.

Trudy and Hank turned to look at her just as Jay breathed, "What's wrong?"

"Um," Hailey blushed and set a hand on her stomach, "I just felt the baby move."

"What?" Jay laughed in shock, "Are you serious?" He pressed his hand next to hers.

"It was like…butterflies I think," Hailey said, "Oh my gosh."

"Sergeant?" the superintendent asked, "Everything okay?"

Jay looked up with a wide smile, "Yeah, sorry, everything is great." He grabbed Hailey's hand and stepped backwards with her as the superintendent continued with announcing Hank's promotion.

"She called you sergeant," Hailey whispered.

"You felt the baby move," Jay chuckled.

Hailey's smile matched his and she jumped up to hug him tightly for a brief minute. All thoughts of people watching them and where exactly they were slipped her mind for just a moment as she embraced him. Jay kissed the side of her head and held her close while they waited for the last two promotions to be officially announced.

In the end, once each officers new title was said and the superintendent declared them all promoted, the room erupted into applause.

Hailey glanced up to Jay whose face was still lit up like their Christmas tree had been. She laughed and shook her head.

"I did it," he said.

She smiled wide, "You did it."

He bent down and kissed her with his hands still resting on the sides of her stomach in hopes that he'd also be able to feel the soft fluttering.

There was a whistle from the crowd that sounded just like Adam before Hailey and Jay pulled apart. They looked out at everyone to see Drew clapping loudly with the others.

Hailey smiled at him and waved, but still blushed and pressed herself closer to Jay.

He chuckled and wrapped an arm around her waist.

Hailey felt the soft flutter again within her and turned to hide her face in Jay's shoulder.

Baby Girl was celebrating her dad's promotion along with everyone else.

Hailey's heart felt full.
