Chapter 26 - Best Single Line, Neb Award, and Kimmunity Achievement Award

BCB stood in front the mic, holding the podium for balance and watching while GT spun around confidently on her roller blades in the wings, waiting for her cue. The song ended and lights dimmed once again.

"And we are back, everyone! We are getting ever so closer to the end, so you'd better brace yourself, because here comes my Drakgo sister GT, and world-renowned scientist Vivian Porter to present Best Single Line!"

GT rolled out ahead of Vivian, who was wearing a lilac sweetheart crop top and a long sheath skirt with a slit up the side. She also held the Golden Rufus trophy for the award.

"A single line can truly define an entire story," GT read from the teleprompter.

"Be it humorous, dramatic, or action-packed, a single line can pack a wallop!" Vivian added.

"Tonight's nominees for Best Single Line are..."

From Bar Hopping by Eoraptor: "I can neither confirm nor deny my assets, erm, assets."

From United and Divided by Librana: "No, you were made for me. Literally."

From RJ And Martin by Emersonian: "I am your actual first nemesis, your evil counterpart of everything, the dark reflection you never knew existed behind your looking glass!"

From Stoppable Family Vacation by Sharper the Writer: "It's only South Dakota! What on earth could possibly go wrong?"

"The envelope, please!" GT insisted. BCB passed it to her with flourish, though she nearly collided with Vivian.

GT opened the envelope and Vivian announced the winner.

"And the award goes to...United and Dividedby Librana!"

Librana got up from his seat to get onto the stage to accept his second Golden Rufus of the evening and his fifth overall.

"I'm delighted that a line from this story has won this award, and thank you so much to all of you who nominated and voted for it. Just to put the line into context. 'United and Divided' is a somewhat AU retelling of, amongst other things, So the Drama. As in the original, Kim is distracted and betrayed by Eric but this time she redeems herself by stabbing him. As he pleads with her to save him, he 'reminds' her that they were made for each other. No, says the broken-hearted girl, *you* were literally made for me."

And with that Librana hugged his Golden Rufus and headed back to his seat.

A solemn piano then began to play in the orchestra pit and the lights began to dim. A single spotlight was on GT.

"We're now at the most emotional part of the ceremony. To present this particular award, please welcome Wade and Joss Load to the stage."

Joss was in a flowing dark wine-colored gown, while Wade was in a blue tuxedo. The pair had been married for about two years at that point.

"Good evening, everyone! And thanks to GT and BCB for hosting the ceremony while Sharper is out of the country," Wade said. "This particular award, number twenty-seven, holds a significant amount of weight."

"Fer those of y'all that are new to mah cousin's fandom..." Joss added "...Ben Nelson was a pillar of th' Kimmunity. In his four years with th' KP fandom, th' Great NebMeister wrote over sixty stories. He was also well known for his JadeKimVerse, which I strongly suggest y'all to read. He was also known as one of th' most helpful people around th' fandom."

"Sadly, he passed away in 2010 due to heart complications. But this award here stands as not just as a mere trophy, but it stands as a tribute and a memorial to him. The CPNeb Memorial Award, first presented in the 5th Fannies, is bestowed to the person who has exhibited the same characteristics that Ben had."

"Th' nominees fer th' 2019 CPNeb Memorial Award are... BCBDrums, Gothicthundra, F86Sabre53, Daccu65, DailySassFromShego from Tumblr, and sweet-or-sarcastic (also from Tumblr).

"And the winner of the CPNeb Award goes to... Daccu65!"

An aging, balding man rose from his seat and made his way to the stage. Accepting the golden naked mole-rat from Joss, he shook hands with all on the stage before approaching the microphone.

"Wow, another year gone, and what a year it's been," he addressed the audience. "It's a very different world than it was when we last met, isn't it? It's great that we can get together like this, even if it's only in cyberspace. I hope everyone here is adapting well to this new reality we find ourselves living; and let's hope that by this time next year, life will be looking up for all of us."

"That said, I'd like to thank the Fannie Committee for their efforts. Putting something like this together isn't an easy task, and the time and work they put in should be recognized. After that, I'd like to thank everyone who cast a vote for any category, no matter who you voted for. I posted the first chapter of my first KP story back in 2008. The Kimmunity is a very different place now; some new faces, some old friends are no longer with us, but there's still a sense of community among us, something unique within fan fiction. Please, I ask all of you, reach out, connect with each other, share ideas and never stop asking that question at the heart of all fan fiction, 'what if'. Thank you all, and here's hoping to see you all again next year."

With that said, Daccu65 offered the audience a polite wave and returned to his seat.

The audience applauded, however, they were seemingly baffled of what Daccu meant by a 'very different world' and 'cyberspace.'

GT came back on the stage.

"For our next award, and in the interest of time, I would like you to welcome a KP living legend who needs no introduction, MrDrP!"

MrDrP appeared before the audience in a black tuxedo. He held up the Golden Rufus proudly but did a double-take as he saw the award title: Best Kim/Ron.

"Whoops...my bad...!" he exclaimed, blushing before hiding behind the curtain. "Ah, there we go."

He then came back from the curtain with the Golden Rufus saying Kimmunity Achievement Award.

"I remembered when this award was called the Kim Possible Appreciation Award way back in the day. Good times!" MrDrP reminisced before the stagehand tapped his watch.

"Ohh...the Kimmunity Achievement Award honor is the equal to a Lifetime Achievement Award. This is for the individual who has dedicated his or her life for the fandom. Tonight's nominees for the award are: Daccu65, Hotrod2001, Librana, Sharper the Writer, Slyrr and Jimmy1201."

"The envelope, please!" MrDrP instructed before a stagehand gave him the envelope.

"And the Kimmunity Achievement Award goes to...Sharper the Writer!"

The audience exploded in applause.

"Since Sharper is still on vacation, accepting the award on his behalf is Daisy aka TemporaryInsanity91," MrDrP said.

Daisy came up onto the stage. She got out the acceptance speech Sharper gave her before he left.

"'Thanks y'all for choosing me to be honored with this prestigious Kimmunity Achievement Award. I feel like eleven years has been a lifetime here, helping out the many people in this wonderful fandom, regardless of race, gender, creed, religion or sexual preference. I have enjoyed the many wonderful stories from the legendary elders such as CaptainKodak and MrDrP, to the upcoming new generation of KP authors such as BCB, GT, and Split-N-Splice. Once again, thank y'all for the honor!"

Daisy got the Golden Rufus from MrDrP, which she would later give to Sharper upon his return.

GT and BCB returned to the stage.

"Congratulations to Librana, Daccu, and Sharpie for their respective wins," BCB said with a bright smile and reverence.

"And speaking of wins, we are coming up on the last three awards of the evening. But to build up the drama, we will present the award for Best Reviewer in the next segment, so stay tuned!"
